Speaker 1

I'm wondering what do you do when someone does dig into the personal zone on thanksgiving ? How can you sort of you know , lightly dismiss it ? You know , without you know upsetting and creating tension , you know , because fights go down , you know can create chaos . Thanksgiving can get . You know what I'm saying .

Speaker 2

Yeah , Luckily I've never had or been a part of , or witnessed a Thanksgiving verbal altercation , but when wine's involved , when in-laws are involved brother-in-laws , sister-in-laws , mother , father-in-laws I feel like anything could be game .

Speaker 1

Yes , sir . Yes sir , Stu Breezy is in your heezy for sheezy . So glad to be back in action on this podcast . I've been taking care of this and taking care of that , but definitely have had it in my back pocket to get back to this podcast thing , and so thank you for listening , stopping by today . We've got a few little nuggets we're going to drop off to you with my co-pilot , t chisel is in the is in the building . Let's hear it for T-Chisel how you doing . Buddy Back in the building once again . Yes , sir , tyclef T-Chisel . Oh , he's giving out the full moniker no clouds in my stones . What does that mean ?

Speaker 2

It's technically a reference to diamonds and the clarity of diamonds . Uh-huh , you got no clouds in your stones . You got expensive diamonds .

Speaker 1

So I forgot to fully introduce you . Actually , you're no stranger to the podcast . You did our number one listen to pod last season the do's and don'ts of the Bachelor Party and that one was actually the most listened to of all the podcasts , yes . So I think that deserves a round of applause and I have a trophy for you , which you will receive once . I figure out how much it'll cost on amazon .

Speaker 2

but shout out to the studio audience for the round of applause as well .

Speaker 1

Appreciate you , guys so yeah , man , the first thing I want to dibble and dabble into was where in the world is tyler san diego ? Like you've been globetrotting , so I want to touch upon your trip around the pond . When did you take that trip to ? Was it to Europe , or oh , it was no , not Afghanistan , it was Albania .

Speaker 2

Yes , Europe . We went to Albania and Switzerland . Yeah , both highly recommended , Both on the opposite end of the affordability scale . Switzerland's pretty expensive and Albania is damn near free as far as US citizens might consider .

Speaker 1

So you get into Albania , you hit the nightclub , you're there 10 days , yeah , so more than 10 days .

Speaker 2

You need more than 10 days . I basically toured the entire country give or take , yeah , so more than 10 days , you need more than 10 days . I basically toured the entire country yeah , give or take . So started off in Toronto , which is the capital , which is where like 75% of the country's population is in Toronto , beautiful city , or ? Yeah , it's a really nice city , really nice , really inexpensive . People were friendly , people spoke English . Nice setup Big town square . They really worked . People were friendly , people spoke English . Nice setup big town square . They really worked on the infrastructure lately . Everything was amazing beautiful natural beauty . Highly recommend it . I think anyone can do it without much trouble . There's no cost barrier to go there . The flight will be your most expensive part , but I was getting penthouse suites modern for $40 , $50 a night , like on the beach looking over the ocean or looking over something amazing and it's pretty crazy .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think folks don't have Albania on their bucket list , but you're recommending it Is that ?

Speaker 2

Highly recommended for the culture , for the natural beauty , for the food , for the variety of adventure , for the variety of things you'll see .

Speaker 1

Highly recommended , listen , let's take a quick little break here , pause for the cause and come back . When we come back , we're going to talk a little bit about this Thanksgiving . You got plans for Thanksgiving .

Speaker 2

I do .

Speaker 1

We're going to get into a little bit about what to do when you get hit with those awkward questions by your family members for Thanksgiving . So stay with us , we'll be back in a flash . Speaker 2

Roughly . If I'm singing along with it the words , I can do it . If I'm not singing along with it , the words , I can do it . If I'm not singing along with it , I'll be so you're gonna just freestyle for us then ? Uh not today I'm not gonna freestyle today . I don't know , man , I'm sure you're not in that mode . You have the anointing if you guys are freestyle fans . Harry mack on youtube is the most amazing thing I've ever seen yeah , he's off the top , he's off the rip .

Speaker 1

But you know , the number one rule of broadcasting or anything is , when you're promoting your own brand , don't promote someone else's brand . But no , shout out , it's not that serious folks . So listen . We wanted to get into how to avoid those awkward conversations at Thanksgiving , those ones where they're asking you about the person you brought . You ever did that you ever brought somebody new to the table .

Speaker 2

I don't know if I ever brought anyone new to the table . That definitely wasn't the first introduction . You don't bring somebody to the holiday . It could have been depending on the timing of things , but I think the for me that's never been the first introduction , right ? I feel like I've mostly almost always brought somebody to Thanksgiving throwdown . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

So there's going to be those questions and awkward moments . So you got to be able to have your one-liners prepared , like how to reply . You have to have your one-liners prepared , like how to reply . I'm wondering what do you do when someone does dig into the personal zone on Thanksgiving ? How can you sort of lightly dismiss it without upsetting and creating tension , Because fights go down ? It can create chaos . Thanksgiving can get you know what I'm saying .

Speaker 2

Yeah , luckily I've never had or been a part of or witnessed a Thanksgiving verbal altercation , but when wine's involved , when in-laws are involved brother-in-laws , sister-in-laws , mother , father-in-laws-in-laws , mother , father-in-laws I feel like anything could be game . Luckily , my situation , like the family's all been cool . There's no fights or arguments . Um , also , I feel like people have enough tact not to ask anything too awkward and I feel like it's easier to respond to those things if they're coming from a good place , as opposed to just prying or being nosy or trying to stir something up right , right , but we got to arm .

Speaker 1

The people that are around might be caught up in those situations , so so how do you answer the question ? So , are you seeing anyone ?

Speaker 2

um , if you're not sure if it's serious or not , probably a good way to do it is like oh you know , I'm I'm dating or keep it vague . Um , also , I don't know if the older generation really understands current dating . In these days and times to understand , like , what that means . Um , dating is a whole brand new ball game these days where , if you're not attached to someone , dating multiple people at the same time or sort of on and off is like there's so many different scenarios these days that I think the older generation didn't necessarily deal with . So when they're asking if you're dating someone , they're mostly asking if , do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend or a partner ? And I think it's a lot more complicated than that these days . In a lot of situations , if you've gone on a date with someone two or three times , you're not necessarily going to sit there and talk to your family who you don't talk to about this stuff , about oh yeah , I'm dating somebody , this and that . Keep those things vague at the time no-transcript to basketball .

Speaker 1

You know what I mean . Talk about drop step . Yeah , just drop step . Some other topic , you know what I mean ? Uh , uh , when they start asking about couples , they're putting pressure on you to , you know , tie it out or whatever A possible response could be . You know we're enjoying our time together , taking it one step at a time , something like that , right ? Yeah , for sure .

Speaker 2

I mean , unless they're really prying , that's a sufficient answer right there .

Speaker 1

Or you can tag team Like you redirect to your partner . That's a good strategy , not even just about Thanksgiving awkward situation . Just tag team . Yeah , just tag team Pivot to your partner Also .

Speaker 2

They'll probably be a little bit less aggressive towards whoever you brought than they would be towards you , because , especially , they're not going to be as comfortable with that person whatever . So yeah , dishing like a little no look off to the side might be the the route to go how about if they start critiquing one's career , lifestyle or cooking ?

Speaker 2

um , there's definitely somebody in my life who has been very critical of me , my brother , my cousins , lifestyles , jobs , choices , whatever . Um , sometimes you just let that go . Or if you're feeling up for , uh , a bit of a conversation or you're sort of tired of all that stuff , like you can always push back if you're successful or if you're doing what you love , you don't necessarily have to justify that to anybody . It might not be what , what , what they would choose , what they'd want you to choose , but it's not really up to them . Um , I mean , there's definitely a family member that's more critical about those things that we've had to deal with , but we're all confident in who we are and what we've chosen and what we're doing . So I'm more outspoken than most , so I can sort of hold my own in that situation . Some people decide just not to say anything . Other people , you know , speak their truth , I guess yeah . So I don't know what do you do in these sort of situations ?

Speaker 1

I mean if you have a partner there with you . I think you know if the situation is getting heated , you know you ask your partner to step in for you . You know , or you can just do like you said I'm happy with my choices .

Speaker 2

You know and you should be happy for me that I'm happy with my choices you know I mean , yeah , I mean not everyone's trying to make a ton of money , not everyone's trying to , you know , get a prestigious job .

Speaker 2

You know , I mean people have different priorities in their life on what they're trying to accomplish life goal wise , or what makes them happy , or like what gives them enough time to be with their partner , what gives them enough time to be with their kids . Some people sort of sacrifice their family lives and like valuable sort of wife , boyfriend , girlfriend , husband , kid , niece , nephew time for their job and they're working 70 hours a week , 80 hours a week , making a ton of money . Some parents might applaud that , saying , wow , you know , they're making money , they're , you know this , the , their ceo of the company , they're , they're , you know a partner , this and that . But like some parents might applaud , hey , you know , this person has chosen their family . This person has chosen their community . This person has chosen their church . This person has chosen their church . This person has chosen some other thing to put their time into . This might be more rewarding to them than a paycheck or a title or prestige or whatever that comes along with it .

Speaker 1

Yeah , so , to sum it all up , pivoting you know , passing it to your partner or hitting them with some humor . I think all are ways to diffuse and keep that Thanksgiving dinner . You know one that's , one that you can enjoy your family , without you know getting in a situation Stirring the pot . Yeah , without stirring the pot , all right . Well , t-clef , thank you for stopping by , ty .

Speaker 2

Clef Ty , clef T-Chisel .
