it."},{"startTime":226.48,"endTime":228.08,"body":"Which sounds really easy."},{"startTime":228.08,"endTime":232.32,"body":"We were very hopeful because we actually had the other squeaker toy, so we tried a couple"},{"startTime":232.32,"endTime":237.16,"body":"of the tools on it that we used to get stuff out of the stomach and we found some that seemed"},{"startTime":237.16,"endTime":239.92,"body":"like they would work really well to grab it."},{"startTime":239.92,"endTime":245.72,"body":"Dog one under anesthesia, put the scope down there, found it, boom, right away, bright blue,"},{"startTime":245.72,"endTime":248.12,"body":"easy to find, not a lot of food in there."},{"startTime":248.12,"endTime":250.2,"body":"Really your ideal scenario."},{"startTime":250.2,"endTime":251.76,"body":"Guess how long it took us to scope that out?"},{"startTime":251.76,"endTime":255.12,"body":"\u003e\u003e I don't know what a normal length time gosh."},{"startTime":257.12,"endTime":258.12,"body":"\u003e\u003e Yeah."},{"startTime":258.12,"endTime":261.76,"body":"So I told the owner from the beginning because I've done this long enough that I the only other option is to do surgery and go in there and like open the stomach"},{"startTime":272.12,"endTime":275.6,"body":"up which they want to avoid, obviously, this young dog."},{"startTime":275.6,"endTime":279.42,"body":"So I told them, \"Any time you have something round and this is really common to the tennis"},{"startTime":279.42,"endTime":282.72,"body":"balls because of round and there's no surface to grab.\""},{"startTime":282.72,"endTime":287.4,"body":"So you try to grab it, we actually have this wire thing that we push out and it's a loop"},{"startTime":287.4,"endTime":288.8,"body":"and you try to loop it."},{"startTime":288.8,"endTime":292.6,"body":"But it's slippery because of the fluid in the stomach and it's round."},{"startTime":292.6,"endTime":298.0,"body":"So we literally get it like perfectly positioned and I'd be like, \"So steady and they'd be pulling"},{"startTime":298.0,"endTime":300.88,"body":"back tightening the loop and it would just slip off at the last minute.\""},{"startTime":300.88,"endTime":303.96,"body":"\u003e\u003e You think there'd be some grip on the other side of the wire piece?"},{"startTime":303.96,"endTime":308.6,"body":"\u003e\u003e It is, it's textured but it doesn't matter because you just have to have it perfectly"},{"startTime":308.6,"endTime":309.6,"body":"placed."},{"startTime":309.6,"endTime":313.16,"body":"\u003e\u003e The torus with tennis balls too because we also have like a little clamp that can grab"},{"startTime":313.16,"endTime":316.48,"body":"stuff and we tried to put the clamp down there and like press against it and grab it because"},{"startTime":316.48,"endTime":320.88,"body":"it seemed really soft at the other one we had but the clamp is just not strong enough"},{"startTime":320.88,"endTime":325.44,"body":"to like really grab it because it has to be an instrument small enough to fit all the"},{"startTime":325.44,"endTime":329.0,"body":"way through the scope but then also like open up and do what they need to do in there."},{"startTime":329.0,"endTime":333.6,"body":"So I set the expectation for the owner that scopes can last a while but we weren't going"},{"startTime":333.6,"endTime":334.6,"body":"to give up."},{"startTime":334.6,"endTime":336.64,"body":"And honestly, I was about to give up."},{"startTime":336.64,"endTime":340.56,"body":"Like we've been doing it an hour and a half, you only have so much anesthesia time so I"},{"startTime":340.56,"endTime":345.72,"body":"was actually talking to them about we might need to go to surgery just get it out and I had"},{"startTime":345.72,"endTime":349.88,"body":"gone to make a surgery estimate and me and one of the other doctors Dr. Lake had been"},{"startTime":349.88,"endTime":353.88,"body":"kind of switching off because there was other patients in the hospital and so we were switching"},{"startTime":353.88,"endTime":360.08,"body":"off like as we needed to to try to get it out and then also see the other patients in"},{"startTime":360.08,"endTime":361.24,"body":"the hospital."},{"startTime":361.24,"endTime":364.84,"body":"So I was going to make the estimate and I heard everyone go, \"Ugh!\" and so I ran over"},{"startTime":364.84,"endTime":368.12,"body":"there and it was fun because we're open concept ER so the owners are there."},{"startTime":368.12,"endTime":372.76,"body":"They're videoing everyone standing around because scopes are just like cool to watch and"},{"startTime":372.76,"endTime":377.4,"body":"they had gotten a hold of it and so everyone's like slow, slow and they're pulling it out"},{"startTime":377.4,"endTime":378.4,"body":"slowly."},{"startTime":378.4,"endTime":379.84,"body":"I like one of those machines at the arcade."},{"startTime":379.84,"endTime":384.84,"body":"It's so that and so they got it actually out and then it popped loose right in the"},{"startTime":384.84,"endTime":387.52,"body":"esophagus and everyone's like, \"Ugh!\""},{"startTime":387.52,"endTime":391.68,"body":"And so it's sitting there but it had compressed down so there was finally a sharp edge."},{"startTime":391.68,"endTime":395.96,"body":"We actually switched tools real quick, grabbed with the pliers, pulled it out and you pulled"},{"startTime":395.96,"endTime":398.0,"body":"it out and everyone's like, \"Yeah!\""},{"startTime":398.0,"endTime":401.48,"body":"I mean it was awesome and so very rewarding."},{"startTime":401.48,"endTime":402.48,"body":"The dog did great."},{"startTime":402.48,"endTime":403.48,"body":"She woke up great."},{"startTime":403.48,"endTime":406.0,"body":"She honestly will probably eat something else again."},{"startTime":406.0,"endTime":409.96,"body":"I told them you probably should look into pet insurance because this will happen again."},{"startTime":409.96,"endTime":413.32,"body":"The guy was running, he said this, \"Grigor Toy and Sam, this is the most expensive dog but I have not and I didn't say the slas I had to"},{"startTime":426.36,"endTime":432.36,"body":"munging myself but I have not had a successful scope where like I couldn't get it out and have not had an unsuccessful scope in, I don't know how long and it was going to be so"},{"startTime":441.24,"endTime":447.04,"body":"mad if I could get this one out and so I was very thankful for Dr. Lake and her continuing"},{"startTime":447.04,"endTime":451.56,"body":"to try while I was working on the other one and the team just like not giving up everyone."},{"startTime":451.56,"endTime":454.04,"body":"Kind of kept switching out and saying like let's try this tool."},{"startTime":454.04,"endTime":457.6,"body":"We were trying to rig like a bag that we could maybe put down in there and like scoop it"},{"startTime":457.6,"endTime":459.88,"body":"out with because the other nets we had were too small."},{"startTime":459.88,"endTime":465.12,"body":"So it was definitely a team effort but it was really fun to do it successfully and the"},{"startTime":465.12,"endTime":466.84,"body":"owner was so grateful."},{"startTime":466.84,"endTime":469.12,"body":"We didn't have to obviously do surgery on their dog."},{"startTime":469.12,"endTime":473.6,"body":"So it was a good case and even though I was tired and Dr. Lake was tired working"},{"startTime":473.6,"endTime":477.4,"body":"them overnight, it was I don't know one of those moments that you're like this is why I work"},{"startTime":477.4,"endTime":478.4,"body":"ER."},{"startTime":478.4,"endTime":479.4,"body":"It's very cool."},{"startTime":479.4,"endTime":483.32,"body":"And you know at some point that skill is going to come and come and handy with our dog."},{"startTime":483.32,"endTime":484.32,"body":"So very true."},{"startTime":484.32,"endTime":488.0,"body":"As of now I just make him throw up all the stuff he eats but at some point there will be"},{"startTime":488.0,"endTime":491.2,"body":"something that will have to probably go in there and so it was an option for that called me and said like we try to get this dog to vomit."},{"startTime":503.52,"endTime":509.52,"body":"She's mom it up food mom at this week or back up and so I was like send it over be off and I'm like why don't you come over and like help me scope it."},{"startTime":517.76,"endTime":522.24,"body":"So she actually came over to the hospital and she helped run the camera and watched"},{"startTime":522.24,"endTime":525.72,"body":"the scope the whole time and like was there the whole time the owner's like it's so cool"},{"startTime":525.72,"endTime":529.56,"body":"that you know you came over to watch and so she hung out for a while."},{"startTime":529.56,"endTime":534.04,"body":"In the ER so it's just nice to like collaborate with people that work together and I as a team like not to give up on their dog."},{"startTime":542.6,"endTime":547.64,"body":"I think sometimes pet owners here know a lot more than they hear yes from emergency professionals"},{"startTime":547.64,"endTime":553.16,"body":"in vet med just because of being sure stacked in other things and so I was definitely"},{"startTime":553.16,"endTime":557.56,"body":"one of those like feel good this is why I do it cases so you like it."},{"startTime":557.56,"endTime":558.56,"body":"I do."},{"startTime":558.56,"endTime":560.56,"body":"I feel like you would enjoy something patients the longest scope that I ever saw in the emergency room and it's"},{"startTime":568.24,"endTime":573.28,"body":"because they it was like small pieces where they just kept pulling stuff out ones are tennis balls don't let your dogs play with tennis balls."},{"startTime":582.72,"endTime":587.28,"body":"I'll just do pet owner PSA because tennis balls are perfectly round and there's no
