Becky:

Today I want to share a little idea that has stuck with me for a long time. It was introduced to me quite a while ago. It's a formula that is very simple, that has helped me focus more on Jesus Christ. The formula goes like this: Me Christ More. So let me go into that a little bit more. When I take me wherever I am, my thoughts, my ideas, my health, my fitness, my schedule, my conversations, my family, my relationships, my work, my pain, my weaknesses. Like whatever is going on for me, wherever I am, however I'm feeling, if I take that and I add more of Christ to that, the result becomes more than I could ever imagine. More relief, more healing, more peace, more ideas, more inspired action, more engagement, more connection. I have thought about this and this has been a formula that I actually apply in a lot of areas of my life. One of my favorite places to go is the temple and I find Jesus there. Years ago, I decided that I was going to find Jesus every time I went to the temple. And I started becoming more aware of the artwork that is on the walls of the temple. I started seeing Jesus with different individuals. Many times it's with children. And I would look at the faces of those children and look at their eyes. And so often they are looking up at Jesus. And I could just hear in my mind this child saying, Jesus, if you're with me, I'll be okay. As I started noticing more pictures like that, whether it's the man at Bethesda the Good Samaritan story where the man had been robbed. Whether it's the woman with the issue of blood, Mary or Martha or Lazarus, any of them, the stories of Jesus. I feel like when they feel like Jesus is there with them, that they will be okay. I have taken that to my own life and I feel like if Jesus is with me, I will be okay. I will be able to face what I need to face. A personal experience has been when I've had church callings. Some of the callings that I've had have had a lot of responsibility, a lot of, leadership expectations and responsibilities. And it felt very overwhelming. As I would face another training or another Ward Conference or another speaking assignment, whatever I was doing, I learned that I could not do it on my own. I had to rely on that formula. Take me, my weaknesses, my insecurities, my doubts and my fears, and I would have to add Jesus Christ to all of it. And the results were peace, comfort, and being able to take the next steps that I needed to do. I love Sister Camille Johnson's talk that she gave in October of 2021. She talked about Jesus being the author and the finisher of our stories. So as I leave this quote with you, I want to add some of my own questions to ponder at the end. So this is a quote from Sister Camille Johnson:"Why do we want the Savior to be the author and the finisher of our stories? Because He knows our potential perfectly. He will take us to places we never imagined ourselves. He will stretch us and refine us to be more like Him. The things we will achieve as we act with more faith, we'll increase our faith in Jesus Christ." This, season two of the Shine On Podcast, I am focusing on how we live our lives more like Jesus. As we do that, we continue to shine His light in our life others will see it. They need to see the peace and the comfort that comes as we are living true to our covenant and to who we were created to be. I want to end the podcast with, some pondering questions, and I encourage you to pull out a journal and use these questions to process how you feel. The prompts go like this: Where am I right now? What is my biggest struggle? And the last question, if I added more Jesus Christ into my story, how could my story end? May your day be filled with happiness and may you shine the light of Christ that is within you.
