More than 300 pieces of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia memorabilia will be auctioned off next month.  The auction itself is April 22 at The Box SF in San Francisco.  More information about the items up for grabs, as well as how to register, can be found at JuliensAuctions.com.

This week marked the 40th anniversary of the release of Van Halen’s 5150, the band’s first album with Sammy Hagar.  To celebrate, a special anniversary edition drops today, featuring bonus 7-inch single edits and extended 12-inch tracks, plus their Aug. 27, 1986 show at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Connecticut.

The Who last released new, original material in 2019.  That was the album called simply, “Who”.  I thought it was a decent album, but the response was underwhelming.  They’re competing against catalogs, after all. At the time Roger Daltrey said he had no desire to record new Who music.  But Pete Townshend recently posted that Rog might be starting to re-consider, so we’ll have to see.  Both Pete and Roger are over 80, so if they’re going to do anything together, it’s probably best if they don’t procrastinate.

Other octogenarians working on new music:  Paul McCartney.  Sir Paul will release a new album in May.  The title of the first single is “Days We Left Behind”.

Weezer announced a new tour.  It’s called “Weezer: The Gathering” and The Shins and Silversun Pickups will be the opening acts.  The only Pennsylvania date is in Philly September 30th.
