Gary's practical tips:

1. Confession – clear and junk between you and God.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you and fill you with His Presence.

3. Make a list.

· First thought principle – the first thought that comes into your mind when you ask God.

· Meditate on Scriptures and ask God what He wants to say to you through them.

4. Record/journal what you sense God is saying to you.

5. Be in a community.

· Accountability.

· Spur each other on.

6. Ask God specific and further questions about what you see, hear, feel, and sense.

Jane's practical tips:

1. When asking God a question, start with an object, i.e., something seen or concrete, and then move to the unseen or abstract.

· Asked God, "What do you want to say to me?" Heard nothing.

· Asked God, "If I were a peanut, what would you say to me?"

· Asked God, "In a picture of a running race, like a marathon, where am I?"

· First thought principle.

2. Practice.

· Be creative.

· Use snippets of time.

· Take every opportunity, e.g. supermarket,

3. Ask: Am I coasting or stretching myself?

· When you use muscles, they become stronger. Often, we have to push ourselves to reach our full potential.

· Grow in other areas of receiving from God.

· God is constantly communicating with us. We are invited to be aware.

· If you are struggling to hear, ask God a different question.

4. Turn aside – if you see something unusual, take it as a sign from God.

· No such thing as a coincidence. It is a God-incident.

· The Talmud says that a dream not interpreted is like a letter not read.

· It's all about relationship and intimacy with God.

Prophetic activation:

I invite you today to try out a new spiritual sense; to practice smelling something that God would like to show you.

· Take a few moments to find something with an unusual scent, such as a rose, pine needles, a candle, a spice container, a spray of perfume, or even the toilet freshener spray.

· Take a big, deep smell and ask God to highlight something that He would love to tell you, show you, or demonstrate to you through that deep, long smell.

· Explore with God the first thought that comes to your mind. Ask God more questions about that. Have fun with it and see what happens.
