Hearing Your Inner Wisdom - Inner Wisdom Mini Series (#048)

Amanda Parker Season 1 Episode 48

Have you ever faced a decision that looked perfect on paper but felt wrong in your gut — that subtle unease you can’t quite explain? In this episode, Amanda Parker explores how to hear and trust your inner wisdom, even when logic pulls you in another direction. She reveals how learning to listen within can transform confusion, overthinking, and anxiety into calm, grounded clarity.

Amanda shares deeply personal moments when intuition spoke clearly — guiding her to life-changing moves across the world — and others when she ignored that voice and paid the emotional price. Through those stories, she illustrates the truth that “when it doesn’t feel clear, it’s because something doesn’t feel right.” Listeners will recognize their own patterns of doubt and rediscover that the body often knows the truth long before the mind does.

This episode offers both soulful insight and practical guidance. Amanda walks you through simple tools to connect with your intuition — from morning journaling and pendulum work to using oracle cards as mirrors for self-trust. These practices help you quiet external noise, ground in your own energy, and find answers that truly align with who you are.

If you’ve ever wondered how to distinguish intuition from fear, or how to trust your inner knowing in the face of uncertainty, this conversation will leave you inspired to slow down, listen deeply, and begin building a relationship with your own inner wisdom. What might change in your life if you truly believed your inner voice was always right? Tune in to find out — and start hearing yourself more clearly than ever before.

[00:01:00] Welcome to today's episode of Don't Step on the Blue Bells. Today we are continuing with our mini series all about inner wisdom, and today we're really gonna be talking about what exactly is inner wisdom.

What does that mean? Why does it matter? So as I mentioned in episode 47, if you listen to that one, before this, we talked all about grounding and energy protection and there are. A number of different ways that we can actually tune into our intuition, but we often need to lay the groundwork for that first.

Some of us just inherently listen and we know exactly what we're doing and a lot of people have honed that skill over a lifetime where they just have it really innately. Um, I will say that I've had a bit of that innate knowing always. But I haven't always intentionally tuned in, so it's only since I really started using these different [00:02:00] grounding and energetic practices that I'm able to really listen intentionally and to decipher the information I'm receiving.

There are still moments where I don't always understand exactly what I'm hearing or. Better said, I'm getting really impatient, waiting for the outcome that I'm looking for, and then I will seek outside support. But in all cases, I am always listening within to see does this feel true for. Me. So if you haven't already listened to the episode on grounding and protecting your energy, I highly recommend going back one episode and doing that before you listen in here.

And all of these different practices are helping to build up in understanding of what we're covering in the inner vision quest. Which is my six week intuition training program that is launching on October 21st. So I'm giving you a bit of a taster here. [00:03:00] Although these are really valuable practices and this kind of understanding is what I have been using throughout my life, but really intentionally over the last.

Seven, eight years to help me listen in clearly to my own inner wisdom and to know that the choices that I'm making in my business and my life and my relationships are really of the highest good for myself and for all involved. I'm gonna share a story with you. I have so many examples of this, but let me start with, um, there's been a few moments in my life where I've made decisions that didn't seem to make sense.

At all. So for example, being, you know, a kid growing up in New York, I decided to go to university in New Orleans. In the US it's pretty common that you might. Travel to another state or go and do your university studies like somewhere else. So it's not so rare, but why New Orleans? [00:04:00] So I remember for me, there was this moment I received all the information about the college that I wanted to go to, and they were showcasing the French Quarter and these beautiful old oak trees and the jazz music and the French corridor.

It was so beautiful and there was something inside of me that. Just knew there was really no question, and I had applied to a number of different schools and I went to go look at a school in Maryland and a school in Massachusetts. But I knew that Tulane was the college that I wanted to go to, and I couldn't explain why.

I had no idea what was the purpose, like why that specific school. It didn't have even a specific course of study that I was more interested in than anything else. Although, of course, later on I did. I thought I would study communications and ended up with a degree in Latin American Studies and Spanish.

So in the end, I found my way, but on the outset, I didn't [00:05:00] understand why I was going there, but I just knew and I trusted it, and I made that choice. There have been a few other moments in my life where that clarity has just been crystal clear beyond the shadow. Of a doubt, and I've listened to it from moving from New York to Paraguay.

Once again, I was scared, I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect when I accepted this volunteer placement with WWF in Paraguay had never been there before, but. Luckily, I had my degree of Latin American studies in Spanish, so I knew some of the cultural history of the region. I understood a bit how the society worked.

So even though it was a new place, it was not like all together unfamiliar territory for me. But even still, the decision to say yes to Paraguay was simple. I just said yes, and I knew it was right. I had that same feeling going to Berlin. I had that same feeling going to [00:06:00] London. I had that same feeling, deciding to marry my husband.

These were moments where that inner wisdom, where that inner voice was speaking so clearly and just told me what I needed to know. That being said, there have been. Also so many moments in my life where I could not hear that voice or I just didn't listen. I had no idea how to listen. This might actually feel quite familiar to some of you who are listening.

I had been in a long-term relationship in the past. I was engaged, I had anxiety. Every day. From the moment that I said yes to a marriage proposal that didn't actually feel good and aligned, I felt anxious. I felt depressed. I felt unsure. I no longer trusted myself. I really, truly lost my confidence in my ability to make decisions.

'cause I [00:07:00] made a choice that using my head. Seemed right, but everything in my body was telling me that it wasn't. It took me a year to fully hear and understand and trust this is not right for me. This doesn't feel aligned. I need to make a change, and that led to ending that relationship. There was another point in time where I decided to do my MBA, and I wish I could tell you that it was the best decision I made.

I loved it, but it wasn't, and I didn't. It was a great decision. It led me to where I am today. That's fantastic. But in the moment that I was making those choices, I was once again flooded with anxiety, with indecision, with uncertainty. I really didn't know what the best path forward was, and I made that choice.

Anyway, because in my mind, getting an MBA was the smart decision. It was the right thing to do. It was the next step, the next evolution on my path as a professional. So [00:08:00] even though everything inside of my body was screaming at me that something doesn't feel right here, I went ahead with the choice and I did it anyway.

The result of that, of course, like I got an MBAI did well in it. That's great. I, I got myself the street cred that I had been looking for, but the reality is that I really burned out throughout that. I think it was a 16 month program and I really felt exhausted and at my wits end by the end more. Than ever knowing who I was, even less than when I began.

So there have been these critical moments. Sometimes they're in business, sometimes work, sometimes in personal relationships, that we have these options, that we have the ability to choose something, and we are always at choice. We always get to decide the path forward for us in our own lives, but.

Sometimes it's so clear what the answer is, and sometimes it's really not. I have [00:09:00] personally come to believe in my life that when it doesn't feel clear, it's because something doesn't feel right, because usually those moments where it's absolutely the right decision or the right path forward. Usually I feel crystal clear on the decision.

There's this knowing inside that there is no other way forward, and I want to help you get a really clear understanding of what those nuances are for yourself. So that in these moments where you have decisions to make, they might be career decisions. Do I accept this promotion? Do I quit my job? Do I start that business I always wanted?

They might be relationship decisions. You know, is this marriage working for me? Is my boyfriend girlfriend, partner, you know, really a good fit for me? Is my child happy in their school? Whatever the choice may be, there's things that come up [00:10:00] throughout our lives and we are continually in a dance of making choices of what feels right, what feels best, and the more clear that you can get on knowing what your own inner signals and your own inner voice is telling you the.

Easier that life becomes. That doesn't mean you won't face your challenges. We all do. There can be sickness, heartache, different things will come up, but you know that you're making decisions that are in alignment with who you are, with your absolute truth. And because of that, you can feel really.

Grounded and centered in the life that you're leading. And that means that even when these tornadoes come and throw you off track or seem to point you in like 20 different directions, your ability to come from this overwhelm, uncertainty, or overthinking anxiety, whatever spectrum you fall [00:11:00] on, to come back to center and to make.

Choices that feel good for you, your ability to do that happens in so much less time. And I can say that that is a hundred percent certain for me that. By now when I have these big decisions to make, my ability to tune in is so much quicker than what it used to be. So I now know that maybe I'll still have a day or two of uncertainty or anxiety, or I'm really sitting with a decision going back and forth.

But there's always this moment that brings me really into that center present moment where I can align with the choice that feels right for me. I still make mistakes. I still get it wrong. It's not a perfect unflawed system. I still have my human life lessons that I need to learn, but I know that overall I'd say probably 80 to 85% of the decisions that I make are [00:12:00] really.

More aligned with who I am and what matters to me today than ever before in my life in order to tune into your inner wisdom. And we're, we're just touching on this very briefly because obviously the inner vision quest goes into a lot more detail and helping you find your own specific way of tuning in and being able to listen to that wisdom.

But what you're essentially doing is you're finding a way to really ground within yourself. To come to your own center and quiet all of that noise that's around you, and to be able to listen within. I have so many different techniques and I teach these in the inner vision quest. So one might be through writing.

I do a practice of daily morning writing, but sometimes I just have a question. I need to know the answer, and I've learned how to be able to. Ask those questions in my journal and really listen to wisdom that comes through me onto the [00:13:00] page to get the answers that I seek. I use tools as well, things like this beautiful pendulum that I have here, and if there's questions that I have that are really like yes or no questions, I tune into the energy of the pendulum.

I set that intention and I ask for clarity. Is this. The right thing for me is this not the right thing for me? And then I'm always checking back in with myself to make sure does this feel true? So I'm never blindly trusting any of the, the wisdom I always have to really check in and double and make sure that.

Whatever is coming through is actually aligned with my truth, with my essence, with the life that I want to build. Another tool that I use is the Oracle cards that I have. I have stacks and stacks of cards next to me, so I go through different phases where different types of cards or different creators speak to me.

Sometimes I use a tarot, [00:14:00] sometimes I use a card deck. By Alana Fairchild, or I use a deck by Colette Barron Reed, or Rebecca Campbell or Alberto Vdo. There are so many different decks that I have, and you can find your own that speaks to you. There are nature based cards. There's esoteric cards. There are cards about cats.

There's cards about crows, there's dragons. Whatever it is that speaks to you. Is going to be your best bet to find your way in. And you use the cards just by asking a question, whatever it is, not a yes or no question. And each deck of cards will give you some short instructions that you can follow just to get you started.

And then you pull a card and you read what that card says. You look at the imagery and you decide how that fits into your life. So this is a very quick synopsis of three of the most used tools in my toolbox for how I [00:15:00] start to listen to that inner wisdom. There's so many other practices that I can teach you about going into nature, connecting with different.

Animals or plants or crystals, things like that. And we'll go into much more of that detail in the inner vision quest. But this just gives you an idea that already sitting exactly where you are today, you can start to slow down the pace of the world around you to ground yourself and to really start to hear some of that inner wisdom coming through.

You will be able to make decisions and choices that feel so much more aligned with who you are and what you're experiencing in your life today. It's really not a complicated process. It feels like a big deal because we feel sometimes like. These things are outside of ourselves or inaccessible, but they're really not.

It is so simple. Once you start to learn how to listen to how [00:16:00] your body, to how your own mind, your own inner wisdom speaks to you, and then you develop your own system that works. Exclusively for you in your own life. Thank you so much for tuning in today. There are more videos to come in this series, so stay tuned and I can't wait to see you hopefully in the inner vision quest.
