Angelica Maestas (Host): Hey everyone. Today I am in beautiful Cancun celebrating turning 40. And of course turning 40 makes you do a lot of reflection. I've been thinking about some of the biggest lessons that I've learned on this journey of life. And now I'm about to start the fifth decade of my life.
Angelica Maestas (Host): And so I want to think about the lessons that have served me well. So one of those is to admire what is unique about you. Maybe what you think is even peculiar about you. Those [00:01:00] personality quirks that used to make me feel like a weirdo ended up being some of the very things that the right people find endearing about me.
Angelica Maestas (Host): the biggest lesson there is embrace what's unique about you because it's the authentic piece of you. The other big lesson is to believe in the laws of attraction. Karma is real. And just know that whatever you do will come back to you. It's, it's whatever we put out into the universe is going to come back.
Angelica Maestas (Host): So if you're doing good, you will attract good things. Good circumstances, good people, just good things will be drawn to you. If you do bad, bad things will be drawn to you.
Angelica Maestas (Host): third lesson is embrace detours. It's okay to plan things, but it's even better to adapt when things don't go according to plan. You'll waste a lot of time and precious headspace trying to stick to a route that no [00:02:00] longer makes sense. I am a very detail oriented person. I love to plan things. And it took me a while to recognize that Instead of embracing that the plan was not going to happen and trying to, force things to go a certain way for things to work out a certain way.
Angelica Maestas (Host): However, I planned it in my head is how I needed it to be. I've learned to recognize that sometimes detours are a part of the journey. That maybe certain things weren't meant to be the way you thought they were, and that's okay. And just embrace the new path. the level of effort and resistance that occurs when you're trying to force things doesn't do you any good.
Angelica Maestas (Host): And it wastes a lot of time and energy. other is to be good to your mind and body. And I wish I'd remembered that when it comes to my old person knees, which I inherited from my mother. She always told me not to sit certain ways, put strain on your knees. You don't [00:03:00] believe those things when you're young and nothing hurts.
Angelica Maestas (Host): In my 30s things started to hurt and now that I'm 40, I definitely feel the, the need to take better care of the body. And now I eat better and I exercise daily and I do all the things that I should have been doing a lot sooner. So if you are in your 20s or 30s, just do better now. It'll save you a lot of Pain and angst down the road and Part of taking care of your vessel is not just physically, but it's mentally as well.
Angelica Maestas (Host): Take care of your mind. Watch what you feed it. Whether it's content you consume, whether it's time that you take for yourself. I've really learned that the mind needs preventative care too. doing things like embracing mindfulness and reflection. As medication for the mind, that's, that's been big for me and [00:04:00] probably one of the Most impactful lessons in life is that piece is recognizing that the mind needs care, too.
And the better we are to it now, the better it will serve us later. All right, folks. Well, that's it for me. Short episode. I'm going to get to the pool and the beach. I've got some margaritas calling my name and I will see you all next week. And that's a wrap on another episode of She's Ambitious AF. Remember to dream big, hustle harder, and show the world that when it comes to success, we're not just ambitious, we're Ambitious AF.
