This is also the debut of a new segment with Keith Martin, the Editor and Publisher of Sport Car Market Magazine (SCM), the Insider's Guide to Collecting, Investing, Values and Trends in the collector car market.
Host Stewart Howden talks to Brian Martin of McPherson College about their automotive programs, growing and expanding the school and how they grew their restoration program from a two year degree to the only four year degree in the country for car restoration. They talk about the cars they work on during class, the skills they learn and how the program works.
The students at McPerson College even built an amazing 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300S Cabriolet that placed 2nd in Class at the 72nd Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2023, an incredible achievement considering the were competing against the best builders and most amazing cars in the world.
They talk about students not knowing how to drive a manual transmission because nobody they know has ever owned one. They discuss the importance of simple skills like jumpstarting a car or even how to strap down a car on a trailer. They show us a 1972 Ferrari 365 that was recently gifted to the school. They mention the large list of backers and supports of McPherson.
