Wayne talks about how he got started filming Chasing Classic Cars, which lasted 18 seasons. Wayne is now starting his own new network called SpeedVision. He talks about the original SpeedVision which became Motor Trend which was then owned by Warner Brothers Discovery, but they let the trademark expire on the name during Covid. Stewart talks about how much he loved SpeedVision and the great shows they aired, before car television shows became chaotic. Bob Scanlon then went on to start the Velocity Channel which became Motor Trend. Chasing Classic Cars was the original car themed television show to be aired in Hi Definition.
He started Chasing Classic Cars after an article written by Donald Osborne appeared in the New York Times about a Hudson Italia he purchased. Jim Astrausky, who owned a production company and was working for The Discovery Channel, read the article and asked Wayne to do a TV Show, which became Chasing Classic Cars. Chasing Classic Cars lasted for 217 episodes, plus there are an additional 24 episodes that were filmed but not purchased by Discover. Wayne never had any intention of being in a TV Show, he just wanted to concentrate on his F40 Motorsports business. Chasing Classic Cars now airs in more than 100 countries in 40 different languages.
Stewart talks about some of the cars for sale at F40 Motorsports including a 2003 BMW Z8 Alpina. Wayne discusses how he got started in the business working with his dad who had an autobody and auto restoration shop and also founded the Model A Restorers Club of America in 1952. Wayne went to college to become an architect before changing direction and working with his dad and then Ferraris. The business is named after a wrecked F40 that Wayne purchased and restored. He then sold the F40 to pay for the building for his business.
