Becoming the entrepreneur of your dreams with a business that's vision board worthy requires a completely different operating system.

In this episode, I'm breaking down the two major shifts every business goes through and explaining why trying to upgrade your business with outdated software, beliefs, and methods will keep you stuck. This is the exact conversation I had with my Business Bang clients last week that altered one of them on a DNA level.

If you're struggling to scale beyond yourself, feel like your business is entirely dependent on you, or you're taking every business outcome personally, this episode is for you. I'm sharing the practical framework for transitioning from "I am my business" to "I work for my business, so my business can work and support me."

Hot stuff. You becoming the entrepreneur of your dreams that has the business that you dream of, the life that is vision board worthy. Is going to require a completely different operating system. Now this came up on a call that I had with my business bank clients last week, and I had feedback from one of the business owners that said that it altered her on like a DNA level, which, you know, of course I'm obsessed with, What the call was about. It was about looking at blind spots that we may have behaviors or patterns, really our like programming that isn't going to serve us as we want to grow our business. And I think, again, this is where you are not going to have the business that you want. With you being a little bit more organized and selling a little bit more, if you have everything working for you. Sure. However, for a lot of people that want a dramatically different business to the one that they have today, they want a dramatically different life that is gonna take a completely different operating system. And this is what I said to my client on this call and I kind of explained it where. A lot of us are kind of going through our day, we're going through our business where we are making decisions from this real, like outdated, it's like outdated software. You know when you get your phone and they're like, you've got a software update, you know, update your software because the problem is. You can't expect upgraded features in business and life with outdated methods, outdated beliefs, and outdated ways of doing something. So you are always gonna find yourself in this period of leveling up, of culling, and of rewriting your identity. There are two really big shifts in business. The first shift is when you start a business and you shift from being an employee to having a business. And then the second shift is from being, I have a business to, I have an incredible company, and it is moving from, you are your business. To, I work for my business and how I explain this to my client is I said, you know, especially with what accountants tell us, if you start a business and you're a sole trader, it's like you are your business. And it, it can feel like this almost like freelancer mentality where it's like everything is on us. We trade time for money. We feel like that if we stop our business stops. And I would say this is where a lot of businesses. Fall into, and then as we break out of that, we move into creating something that can really live on its own, that it can outlast a bad day, a bad mood. And you know, it, it's not so reliant on us driving it forward. And when I say this, it's not me saying, you know, don't work in your business, but it is about you creating something that doesn't need you to work. And you see this a lot where people are like, you know, make sure to hire, make sure to like bring people in so you can remove yourself from your business. But if you are a solo founder that doesn't really want a team, this would look like creating a scalable business. So this could be group programs, licensing work, or creating something that isn't so reliant on your outlay of time or labor to get paid. So what this shift in an operating system is it's, it's looking at how you are currently showing up in your business and it's how can I graduate? How can I do this like little entrepreneurial software update so that I can move from. I am running my business and everything is on me to, I work for my business. And I had explained to a client is, it's like, you know, imagine it's like this, this circular approach where it's like I work for my business. Okay, cool. And now because I work for my business, my business now works and supports me. I support my business. Awesome. My business supports me. And it's like we more that the more that we support our business, the more that our business supports us, which then gives us energy to then support our business. And the problem is, if we don't feel like that we are separate from our business, this is where we can take things personally. Decisions feel hard because we feel like that it's us on the line. It brings all of this like self-worth stuff up, and it feels like that there's this, it's like it's personally us. You know what I mean? It's like I look back to when I had my Pilates studio and if people didn't come back to class, I would be like, what did I do instead of. What has happened within the business and how can I support that? And sure, maybe the class was not that great, or maybe they just didn't like me, but I look at things under a business lens and not taking everything personally because I think, you know, as you start in business, especially if you have like a strong personal brand where your face is out there, people know that it's your business. It can feel like that everything is on us and we take it really personally because you know, it is our personal brand that is out there. But as we want to grow a business and grow a company, this is where you now have to make the distinction that you are not your business. You work for your business, you support your business so your business can support you. Why this is so good to think about is because when we remove ourself from the equation, we can start to look at our business very objectively and we can look at what does my business need from me? Because a lot of us are very guided by our mood. And then the problem is our business is responding to that. Because you think about it, if we don't have the separation of business and self, if it is all one, you can see here how things that are playing out in your personal life are reflect in your business. But what we wanna do is we wanna have like this, this separation and what I had said to this client, I said, your next stage of business is having this separation, and what was so wonderful for her is she had this point of realization where all of these beliefs that she had held about herself had just completely dissolved as she, she worked out like. When moving through this next stage of business, what that was going to require of her and how this was just as I said to her, this is just a software upgrade. That's all it is. It's like, we are not sexy freelancer anymore. We are a company. Like this is the energy that I want you to think about and we can think now about how we talk about our business if we feel that if we have a bad day. Does our business kind of mirror that we can think, you know, do we talk about like our little business? Like how do we talk about it? What is the energy? And I want you to ask yourself, when we think about like the business that we are working towards, that beautiful North Star, if we had achieved that point, how would we talk about things? How would we show up? What would our relationship be like with our business? Now really good to note with this separation, your business is going to sometimes require more from you than you wanna give in that moment. And I think this is where we may need a small reality check. Of we have to do the grunt work to get the business that we want. Just say you wanna run a marathon, right? You are going to have to go through the process of getting fit. In order to get the goal that you want, and the process of getting fit is going to involve discomfort, it is going to involve being out of breath, being sweaty, sore muscles, and, and doing things of really you pushing the limit of what you currently know and are capable of to get where you want. And the problem is if we are confined by doing things. That feel currently good. That are very, I'm gonna say like us determined, an example of this could be. I have gone through stages where I have a love and hate relationship of, of filming the podcast. And don't get me wrong, like I love doing this for you, but it is that process of putting in more work and finding a time to get this done. If I was like not looking at the business separate from me, if I was looking at myself as the business and centering myself. My first response would would be, well, I'm not gonna do this today because I don't feel good. And if I don't feel good, that is going to come through on the podcast. But when I look at this like a company and when I look at myself separate from my business, I look at my business and I'm like, what does my business need from me? And my business needs the constant of having a podcast episode coming out. So because of that, I need to show up for my business. And then guess what happens? You think about it, the podcast episode comes out and now the podcast episode gets to support me, and that is a constant. People can go back and they can look at that, and I have shown up for my business. And now because I have created this like little bit of intellectual property, I've created this podcast episode, then that will show up for me. I do not know the impact of this episode. The only impact I know is what I am doing right now for my business, and then my business continually supports me. So I want you to look at maybe where you have. Maybe where we've kind of had this like blurred lines of us feeling like that we are our business and our business stopping because it's very much based on our moon and how we feel. And I want you to ask yourself, if there were separation and you looked at you working for your business, what would you do differently? And you can think about this right now. You can think, what does my business need from me knowing who I wanna be next year, knowing who I wanna be this week? What does my business need? You can also be like, what do I need from my business? What future do I want? How can my business deliver that to me? Okay, cool. Now that I know that, how do I need to show up for my business and what will start to like come to the surface? Is you are going to see all of these things that potentially you are not doing because we are so guided by our mood or our belief and how this is going to take a different operating system. For example, I need to get outta my way and I need to hire now. If you were your business, this is where you may convince yourself. You should be organized. You could do this all yourself. You are being lazy. Why can't you do it? You're so disorganized. If you are thinking about this like a company and you are like, which is my business need, my business needs support, so it can be the best business that it can be, I'm going to make that business decision to spend this money to invest so I can have that growth. In turn, I'm gonna be supported because stuff is taken off my plate. I'm hiring the best people for the job. I'm so excited by this. I've done this recently. I have hired someone to help me with my content. We're gonna do a day, a month, half a day, a month. Uh, we're gonna come in, batch record some stuff. I'm gonna edit that. You know, when it gets to a point and I feel like that I have some more, I'm gonna say cash flow. I then get to outsource the editing. And you can see here it's like if we have this conversation, it becomes like a relationship where it's like we are in a relationship with our business. So. I now get to show up for that, but I have accountability for my business. So I now know, okay, cool. My business needs this hire, so what do I need to do? I need to show up and sell so I can support that happening. I would say for everyone that is wanting a dramatically different result next year in business, this is where I want you to start to look at things. This is where you are gonna see your blind spots. You are gonna see decisions that you need to make, and it is up to you to make them. And it is also up to you to not be guided. By you only following if things feel good, because again, it is like getting on the treadmill, attempting to get fit. There is going to be that layer of discomfort present as we kind of go through that operating system. It's like when we're having that like operating system update. And we're downloading that software so we can operate at this new level. There's that little period where not a lot is happening. Everything is happening behind the scenes, and the same happens in business. It can look like not a lot is happening because guess where it's happening? It's happening. It's happening in your mind, it's happening in your body. It is you having to rewrite a lot of things and do things a slightly different way. And this is sometimes where you'll see someone in business and they may say, oh, not a lot shifter. We're kind of doing the same. But you can feel that shift. It's like there is a different energy about them. They talk about things in a different way. I'm even feeling this myself. On the podcast of the earlier episodes compared to now and how different I feel when I talk about things like I can see and feel how I've grown as an entrepreneur and how I approach my company. So different of how I did when I first started this podcast. How everything has leveled up and it has come from this separation of not being my business. So go through this week remembering that you are in relationship with your business. You are not your business, and therefore a relationship is a two-way street. What does your business need from you so your business can support you? And I want you to ask yourself this every single day be really hyper aware. Of these little blind spots that come up because it is your job to fix them. Now, of course, if you want accountability to make this happen, we can partner together, join Business Bang. There are gonna be some changes with this program, and I am putting more requirements in. It is of course, application process because I wanna make sure that it's a really good fit for you. But I'm also, sure that we have a really good community fit of people that are in there. It is gonna have another price increase in 2026. So if you wanna lock that price in, baby girl, pop your hand up and get your butt in. But I love this. I love you, I love you more than I know that I always talk about like the Melbourne skyline. You can't really see it too much. But I have angled my phone so you actually can see I've put the city behind me. You can kind of see our sexy little carpark and you can see the city and it's really interesting. I've had. A couple people come into the office this last week and they're like, oh my gosh. It's just so beautiful. Like, you walk in and it just, it almost like takes, takes your breath away. So I love. I love seeing their reaction. There is something nice about like witnessing someone experience something for the first time, being there, doing that together. So I love you more than that. I love you more than, my sofa. So I don't think I said this, I broke my sofa. It was a bit unfortunate, the zip. Literally busted on one of the cushions, and I didn't realize until the cushion looked a bit funny and I went to like vacuum underneath it, and the whole zip had busted on the back. So I had to get that repaired. The company was exceptional to deal with. I emailed them. They got back to me, they sorted it out. They were so communicative. Through the whole process. It was amazing. I did have this period of being upset, feeling like, oh my gosh, I've spent so much money on this so far. I can't believe there's a problem. And it was a a period where I had to kind of coach myself through this and be like, look. Shit happens. That's okay. It could be worse. It's unfortunate it's gonna get fixed and you can't think about is this gonna be a good fix or a bad fix? You just have to trust that it is going to the best people. And if there is a problem, we will deal with that in future. And it was, it's so funny now when stuff happens in my personal life. I now get to approach this, and it's been so good. I'm like, okay, cool. How you go through this moment is going to be so good for your business because there's gonna be a time in your business in the future where you are gonna look back to this moment and how you dealt with it that is gonna form how you, how you respond to what happens. So anyway, I picked the cushion up today and it's perfect. They've done a great job, so I feel so, so good about that. So I love you more than that. I love you more than the fact that my Botox is kicked in. Oh my God. I can't, I can't move my forehead or I can, yeah, I can. It's still, I think it takes like 10 days or two weeks or something to kick in. I can move my eyebrows. I only, only the left one, which is a bit random. So I love you more than that. I know that some people have really funny relationship with it. They're like, I don't like that. You know what? You don't have to put shit in your face. You don't have to put shit in your body. I love, I love having a drama free face. my forehead is so smooth. I love it. I look calm. I love that I'm gonna go to Christmas with like a calm, smooth, like a smooth bitch forehead. I love you more than Okay. I'm back on Tinder, actually. I've always been on Tinder. No, I'm lying. I've been back on Tinder for two weeks, but I've been like on dating apps. I have a lifetime band from Hinge, which is really fun, and my like dating apps are limited, so of course there's Bumble, but I don't really enjoy how women have to make the first move. I like my men to be fucking leaders, providers, protectors. The man that I am with would not wait for me to make my first move. He would be like, that's fucked. That's what I want. I see her, I'm gonna go and approach her. he will just be like, yes, something about her, her fucking sexy aura. I want to go up and I want to know who she is. So for that reason, I don't like bumble. I just don't like it. I don't like the energy. I'm on field, which if you are new to dating apps, it's pretty much like a sex app, but it's not a sex app. It's like, um, it is a sex app, but it's not. It's like whatever you want. I find it so interesting, like the tone shift from like the start of the episode to where we are. But look, that's fine. Girlfriend has range, so that's like all on there. Why I like it is because you can kind of swipe through. People without like, like moving, without saying no to them. So I can kind of swipe through a stack and then come back and it's a bit more chill. I think it's less algorithm based compared to like what Tinder and the other apps are. So there's some very sexy people. But I also like, you know what I like as well, I like seeing the differences. If I see someone's profile on Tinder and then I see them on field, and it's like some of these men are completely different. They are like. You know, on field they're like, I like group sex, I want this, I want that. And then on Tinder they're wanting like a long-term relationship. So I kind of like doing this like, it's like a cross reference where it's like, who are they on field, who are they on Tinder? And I like that. I like checking, but so I'm back on Tinder and I'm ovulating, and I knew that I was ovulating because all of a sudden every man was like really attractive. To me, but I do think that they've got some like high rocks thing at the moment and like, gosh, there's so many like buff fit men. I think there must be a golf thing because there's lots of golfers and there's lots of like fit men. So I have just been swiping right, which means yes. And I've just been getting like all these matches. I have also changed my, my age range. I've gone so normally, as you all know, I do like a daddy. I like him older. I like him Don Draper. I like a suit. I like stressed out corporate salt and pepper. Daddy with expanded. So my age range now I've gone down to the 20. Yes, I've gone down to the twenties. that's been interesting. So I love you more than that. I also like you more than my little comb. I just gave my hair like a little, or maybe you can hear it. Some little A SMR. Maybe we could start like an A SMR YouTube. I'm not doing that, but we could. I love you more than my little comb. I have them everywhere. I bought this one in Vietnam. I went to Vietnam in, when was it? Was it 2018 or 2019? I think it was 2018. I went to Vietnam in 2018 with. No. Yes, no. 2019. No, I can't remember. I went to Vietnam sometime with doTERRA, and I bought this like little comb, and I bought these like little pearl, uh, caviar. These little, what is it? Mother of pearl caviar spoons. But I love my little comb. I don't know what it's made out of. If it's like a, I think it's like a resin. I don't really know. Yeah. I don't know. But I love you more than that. She's pretty, I love her hot stuff. You know what I love? I love you, and I love that. I'm gonna see you on the next episode.
