Ever Heard the Lord Singing over you?
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord Singing over you
Zephaniah 3.17. The Lord, your God, is with you. The mighty warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you In his love. He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Have you ever imagined hearing the voice of God singing over you? How does that sound like? What is the tune like?
Speaker 1:So God does rejoice singing over us. He does take delight in us when we serve him, when we give of ourselves to him, when we allow ourselves to be fully immersed in the relationship between ourselves and God. Then, in turn, this God who says that he's our Lord and he's a mighty warrior, meaning that he fights for us and that he no longer rebukes us, meaning that God desires for us to change. God desires for us to be a people who walk in holiness and righteousness. So he does rebuke us. He does tell us like a gentle father this is not the way. Please walk in this way, don't do this. This is not right, this is wrong, and that gentle rebuke is a chastening of us to be better people. But, above all else, he does this because he loves you and I. He does this because he delights in you and I, and so, above all, he rejoices over us and he sings. So begin to imagine the Lord singing over you with melodies, with humming and tunes never heard before, that come from the innermost presence of God, the Spirit of God, and indeed, at that moment, then you truly, truly feel and you know and experience the love of God.
Speaker 1:Let us pray. Almighty God, creator of the universe, the one who was and is and is to come, our Lord and our God. We thank you because you are God and you are good. You are the God in whom we worship. You are the God who is the mighty warrior who saves us. You are the God who delights in us. You are the God who rebukes us and loves us, but, above all, you are the Lord who rejoices over us with singing. And so, father, may we experience this singing over us, may we get to hear your sound as you sing over us this day, and may we experience the utmost love of God in everything that we do. We thank you, lord Jesus. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
