About Your Host:
Anmol Madan is an entrepreneur, computer scientist, and executive who has been leading the digital health and AI revolution over the past two decades. Anmol has co-founded or held executive roles at multiple unicorns in the emerging field of digital healthcare; a field which has existed for less than two decades. His professional contributions in the field have received hundreds of millions of dollars in funding from leading VCs, and been featured in such media as CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, and Wired Magazine. His scientific contributions have been published in dozens of scientific articles in leading computer science and digital health journals, and led to over 30 issued and pending US patents.
Anmol received a Ph.D. in machine learning applied to human behavior from the MIT Media Lab. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family, which has recently meant changing a surprising number of diapers.

What are the opportunities for AI in inpatient and home care? In this episode, we talk to Mike Wang and Jon Gips from Inspiren, whose AUGi platform leverages machine vision and AI to help nurses and providers be more productive with data, and detect and reduce harm.
Nurses play such an important role in healthcare. Mike and Jon dive into the challenges in nursing today – specifically the burden and obstacles in current hospital settings. For context, a 2023 McKinsey study reported that 40% of nurses are considering leaving the profession. Mike and Jon break down the labor and culture problems underpinning this statistic, as well as the opportunities for automation.
In addition to their experience with AUGi, Mike and Jon discuss the challenges in developing and validating AI for healthcare, such as balancing privacy and making new technologies easy to adopt. We also detour into how robots can assist nurses and how far we are from that future.
