 1. God knows what we need. (Judges 6:7-10)

 2. God showed them mercy. (Judges 6:10-11)

 3. God demands our faithfulness. (Judges 6:25-32, Matthew 6:24)

 4. Gideon and Israel were weak

  • Israel was helpless. (Judges 6:2 – 6)
  • Gideon felt inadequate. (Judges 6:15)
  • Gideon was afraid. (Judges 6:27)
  • He needed assurance. (Judges 6:36-40)
  • The soldiers were afraid. (Judges 7:3)
  • Gideon needed encouragement. (Judges 7:9-15)

 5. God’s strength and power are displayed through our weakness. 
    (Judges 6:34, 7:2,9,14,15,18,22, 8:23, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

 6. God is with us. (Judges 6:11-24,34) 

 

Next steps...

  • Think about an area of weakness in your life.  Pray that God will work in and through your weakness to display his grace and glory to others.
  • Read and reflect on Psalm 46.  What does it say about fear?
  • Where in your life are you trying to serve two masters?  Where is your heart divided in what you love?  Renounce any idolatrous loves and passions in your life and recommit yourself to love and follow Jesus Christ alone.
