How Spirit-Filled People Changed the World, part 29

A sermon outline based on Acts 17:16-34

 1. Paul was distressed by their idolatry. (Acts 17:16)

 2. Paul witnessed in the synagogue and the marketplace. (Acts 17:17)

 3. They invited him to share his faith. (Acts 17:18-21)

 4. Paul’s strategy for sharing his faith:

      He identified with them. (Acts 17:22-23)

      He talked about his faith. (Acts 17:24-28)

      He was honest and direct. (Acts 17:29-31)

      He pointed people to Jesus. (Acts 17:31, 1 John 5:11-12)

      He left the results up to God. (Acts 17:32-34)

Next steps...

• Read and reflect on 2 Peter 3:9b: “The Lord... is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Ask the Lord to give you His heart for spiritually lost people.
• When someone asks “How are you?” try saying “I’m feeling blessed” or “I’m feeling thankful” and see it if leads to a conversation about God.
• Figure out a way to share the good news about salvation in Christ by using John 3:16.  Then ask someone every day this week if you can practice sharing it with them. Invite them to tell you how you did.
