“JESUS: THE LIVING LORD”

An Easter sermon outline based on Matthew 27:57 – 28:20

1. The Jewish leaders were corrupt. (Matthew 27:62-66, 28:11-15)

2. They tried to secure Jesus’ tomb. (Matthew 27:62-66, 28:1-6)

3. Evidence for Jesus’ resurrection is overwhelming.

    (Matthew 28:5-6 28:5-6, 1 Corinthians 15:6)

4. Jesus predicted his own resurrection. 

    (Matthew 12:40, 16:21, 17:9,23, 20:19, 26:32)

5. Jesus’ resurrection points to something greater. 

    (Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44)

Next steps...

• If those who opposed Jesus couldn’t keep him dead and in the grave, put your faith and trust in Jesus, for he will one day be the Lord of all!
• As you consider all of the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection, think about the implications if Jesus really is who he claims to be and surrender your life to him.
• In Jesus there is life, joy, hope, and peace! Watch for ways that you can share the good news of Jesus this week.
