Hillcrest CRC, July 20, 2025, 9:30am
Rev. Curt Walters
1. How do we train our children?
- Love the Lord and walk in His ways. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Ephesians 6:4)
- We attend church every Sunday. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Hebrews 10:25)
- We make God’s Word a part of our daily lives. (Psalm 119:9,105, Colossians 3: 16, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- We make prayer a priority. (Psalm 32:6, Romans 12:12)
- We discipline our children. (Proverbs 13:24, Hebrews 12:7)
- 2. Some claim this verse as a promise. (Proverbs 22:6, 1 Timothy 6:10)
3. There’s a difference between a proverb and a promise. (Proverbs 22:6)
Next steps...
- Read and reflect on Deuteronomy 6:4-9. Ask the Lord if there’s anything that you can do differently to better fulfil your role as a parent.
- Think about your parenting style. Do you tend to be overly harsh or permissive? Ask your parents or close friends what they think.
- Pray for your children and grandchildren! Ask the Lord to lead them to turn away from sin and to be people of deep faith in Jesus.
