Free in Christ to Live by the Spirit, part 3

A sermon outline based on Galatians 3:1-14

1. We are under the curse of sin.

    (Deuteronomy 27:26, John 3:18, Galatians 3:10-13)

2. Christ redeemed us from the curse. (Galatians 3:10-14, 2 Corinthians 5:21)

3. God made Abraham a promise. (Genesis 12:1-3, 15:6, Galatians 3:6-9)

4. We can try to save ourselves. (Galatians 3:3)

5. We can believe in Jesus and be saved. (Galatians 3:7,11)

6. Choose life! (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Next steps...

• Stop trying to save yourself by being good or trying harder, and invite Jesus to do it for you. 
• Read and reflect on 2 Corinthians 5:21: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  Write your own prayer of thanksgiving and praise for Jesus’ willingness to become the curse for us so that we could be saved.  Then offer that prayer to the Lord, and share it with a friend or family member.
• Find someone that you can share the bad news about the curse of sin and the good news about Jesus taking the curse for us and saving us.  Invite them to join you in believing in Jesus to find forgiveness and eternal life.
