It's no longer an assassination, it's a rescue mission, because this year we recommend Purge election year. Yeah, I accidentally election year. Yeah, I accidentally said year Instead of this week. I said year, my bad, but this election year we are doing Purge election year the whole year every week. So on what movie did I ask you Rundown? I asked you is this the worst movie we've ever covered? You said it was Blowout, which is wrong, but is this our worst movie we've ever covered?

Honestly, I don't want to start off too negative because the parts of this that get it right, like I hate all the Purge and Purify stuff, but when they get on the streets and it's just Frank, what's his name? Frank Grillo, I believe, who he plays Crossbones and stuff in some of the Captain America movies and stuff, but I really like Frank Grillo. I've seen him in other movies. He's an action guy, he's got martial arts movies and stuff, but I really like Frank Grillo. He's.

He's like he's an action guy, he's got martial arts background and stuff, and then he wanted to be a bodyguard, yeah, and he wanted to be a like professional athlete but he ended up taking like theater and then just got good at it, I guess, and now he's in a billion movies where he gets to beat up people. He's in a billion movies where he gets to beat up people yeah. But anytime he brings out his little like knife thing he holds it and he starts punching people with it.

I'm like, yeah, this is what this movie should be. Hell, yeah, but any of the like, the girl and like, visually this movie is very interesting with the mask, you know, the Christmas car lights which were ruled.

Yeah, those are all really cool, but then everybody always has to be like I'm a psychopath and it's like normal people would still just do this and not act like this.

It's like I don't know why we all think like, oh, it's got to be the craziest of crazies that do it. That's when you let your crazy out. I think it permission. You know what. You know what ruined it all when people act like sociopaths. Me and Natalie talk about it all the time because in the Scream series now at the end of every Scream the killers always act like Billy and crap, what's Matthew Lillard's name. But they act like them where they're all crazy and it's like not everybody would act the same. Some people were just kind of crazy but like seem normal, trope is dope, but now it's like everybody acts like that.

when they're acting crazy and killing, it's like yeah I think we've kind of come to find out most people react normal when they do that they're good at hiding it, because after they've done it they're like yes, I'm normal now I feel good again, I can go to work tomorrow like rubbing stuff their weapons all over the place, like I'm going to pay. It's like come on, those are just the more interesting ones, yeah.

And ultimately, my issue with all these movies is the fact where's the chaos? Yeah, it's always completely empty streets and here comes a couple of cars oh, murder. Oh, now we're just going to walk by some visually interesting things, but it's like I would have liked to seen that.

Even though there's so many of these movies, they do not explore so many elements, and that's especially that first one. The first one's the worst in my opinion. I hate the first one. All the kids are so bad and it's just like nobody's making smart choices At least. I actually think Anarchy and Election Year are the two best out of it. Anarchy is probably the better one.

But I mean again, if you're only gonna get like one purge visitor, it's like, yeah, let's just shoot them where they're in like washington dc, aren't they?

There should have been a lot more shit going on, but like there's no way, I guess you're going to have the budget to have like 100,000 people fighting each other and it's like man, use your 10 million, Set the streets on fire, I don't know.

I feel like maybe that's the prequel to the Purge. Well, no, I want. So that's like what the purge is trying to be like a realistic, like oh, what's a political politics about it? When it's like, no, I want you to be a dumb. Like action, horror movie, that's just like I'm crazy, brute, brute. Like brutal movie, I guess. Yeah, but they can't, they just won't do it. They won't do it. They got to keep making little silly plots about it. It's like no, how about we survive the night and we run through the city, which they say which is what they all are, but they never yeah.

Yeah, and I feel like, if there's, there have been some shows that I feel like I can't remember the name of them. There was one with like zombies, zombies, but it showed like 10 different stories going on, and that's where I feel like this movie could expand upon. Yeah, it's like a bunch of different stories. Maybe they come together in some way at the end, but, like it just follows, there's really just one or two in this movie and I feel like they just ran out of material, yeah.

I mean, they really did, which is crazy, because you don't really need insane material to make it be like oh, this is what chaos feels like, you know, which ultimately is, I feel, like what it should be. So I only got like three or four facts. There's not a lot on this. That's super interesting. Uh, essentially this was. This is the third one, it's part three.

It was originally supposed to be a prequel to the very first Purge, which ended up being the fourth movie. But because Frank Grillo decided he wanted to come back to reprise his character after the director asked him to, he's like, yeah, let's do it. And so they just wrote this instead. And then they did the first Purge two years later, let's see. And so the Purge has expanded its universe more throughout each film. The first film takes place in a house, the second film takes place in the streets, the third place film takes place in the government. Also, each film looks at the purge through different points of view. The first film is told from the rich, the second is told from poor, the third is told from the political side.

And then eventually she gives the thing and it says Apollo on there. Funny thing is in the Dharma Initiative their candy bars were Apollo Dang, so it's a lost reference.

They called it Samhain. Samhain, yeah, okay, I think it's pronounced. So I saw another video about Samhain, but it's pronounced Samhain. It's an old Celtic tradition and, uh, in order to like reappropriate the the holiday by the Catholic church, they decided to start dressing up as saints, um, and which ultimately became Halloween, and I thought that was really neat and I wish I would have known that before I watched the movie. Yeah, that'd been great, yeah.

And these other eco pirates have, yeah, they've been looking for this ship and they find it and they chase it down. And it's such a good story that's awesome, yeah.

It's like the good part about like the purge is you hear that sound. Then it's like shit, game on Rule. Well, it's because it's like all right, there are no rules anymore. No one is safe. These rules that we follow because we're told to, they're gone. So now what do we do? That's ultimately the scary part of the purge, but this is never successfully done for me into the movie, except when they play the sound. Yeah, that's the coolest part. It's a hell of a siren. So the film starts on a purge night A couple of masked men are keeping a family tied up. One of the men says they are going to play Mommy's Choice to see which one of them will live throughout the night. Then you got it's a guy with a stupid mask. He's like you know he's being like oh, I'm psychopathic, and he's playing. You've got the funk and it's like ooh, we're crazy purgers. This is what the Purge movies are, oh man.

Yeah, and then it's 18 years later, two days before Purge night, we see a news report on. Senator Charlie Roan, who is running for presidency, is aiming to get rid of the Purge, stating how it only serves to eliminate the poor, the homeless and lower classes of society that make up the majority of America's population which is what truly would happen if the purge existed. That's all it would be Rich people would probably fly out.

In a secret meeting in Washington DC, the new founding fathers of America Council want to get rid of Charlie by any means necessary, as in murder or just another night of the perch. So the leader and chairman, caleb Warrens, has something sinister in mind. He has the line we are going to use this purge to do some spring cleaning.

We see Charlie walk into the crowd after a speech. It's an unhinged debate. It's like that's not how debates work, but Seems familiar. I just hate all the purge talk, purge and purify. So meanwhile we are introduced to Joe Dixon, the best character in the damn movie. A convenience shop owner. He runs the place with his assistant, marcos, and then we meet his friend, an EMT named Laney, pays them a visit. She's in Get Out, I believe.

So then we learn foreigners come to America to participate in the purge. You get some like, yeah, murder, tourism.

Yes, so Marco spots two uniformed schoolgirls attempting to shoplift some candy. Joe confronts them, leading one of the girls, kimmy, to rudely dismiss him. She is forced to do so, but first she says you put your hand on me, I'll yell rape and I'll close your whole store down. She is forced to do so when Lainey steps in, as Kimmy idolized Lainey when she was known as not going to say it, but she was known as the little death in school.

But yeah, that would be something pretty realistic, yeah, yeah I could see that insurance going up yeah, just price gouging.

I love their glammed up weapons too. My body's made of jello. I can't just stand straight. I gotta wiggle constantly. It's like we get it. You're crazy. Yeah, the the. It reminds me like call of duty.

Like I don't like his last name, danziger Is that his real name? I don't know. Well, in the movie it is. Oh, in the movie it's his name. It's just like I didn't know they gave it his name Danziger. It's like hey, I'm Danziger, what you doing, it doesn't? It doesn't seem like a leader type name. You know, I don't know, but they're coming in to storm the house. Leo guides Charlie out of the house through a tunnel beneath the house that I guess that he put there so he could escape.

They get the heads up that the trucks are coming and Lainey is going to come pick up Charlie and Leo and but this ends up being Charlie. They're back on the street. They almost get cut by a giant like axe. That was funny as hell. They're like dang it, we almost got you. I know. Yeah, they're like all right. They literally say that.

I love Joe. Joe RIP baby. See you someday.
