Hello and welcome to a bonus episode of We Recommend a Movie Podcast. Where every week we recommend a movie for you to watch and then come back here and listen to us discuss. I'm Jesse. I'm Jason. Joey. You're all gonna fucking die up here. Cause this week we recommend VHS. Sick A. This segment Tuesday the 17th. Jason! I like the glitch! The glitch! I love him! Great idea! Completely bad execution.
SPEAKER_00:Maybe. Right. Just maybe. Yikes this one, man. But it was a lot like the um I I wonder if the game Cyberpunk stole this idea. Oh, is it? I've never played it. Because there's bad guys that like because I guess everyone's eyes are augmented. Yeah. And so there's these bad guys where you can't see them and they just show up as glitches, and you gotta like, you know, they're just going all over the place.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's cool.
SPEAKER_00:It was cool. Yeah, it reminded me of that.
SPEAKER_01:I do love the glitch idea. It's great. Writing and dialogue and acting in this one also great. Right. It just I don't know. It there was nothing ever, it was just like a cool idea, but nothing scary to me happened. Like I wasn't ever scared.
SPEAKER_00:I like the head stabbing. Oh, yeah. Love stabbing the head.
SPEAKER_01:The like gore and the violence in it was pretty cool. Like the girl with the in her eye, she's like, something happened. I know that was dumb. But also, like the worst acting happens right before that. Hey, do you want to see something scary? Okay. And it's like, you just got done peeing behind a tree. Yay. You're gonna hang out with Spider like this.
SPEAKER_00:Um, why was his name Spider? I don't know, dude. That guy was a dork. I love Spider, though. Everyone's name was.
SPEAKER_01:I wish Spider lived. Oh man. He was my he was a G. He didn't want to get the fear. What was her name? Trash? Trash. More brains. Yeah, more brains, baby. So, Tuesday the 17th. This is the segment we're talking about. It was directed by Glenn McQuaid and writer Glenn McQuaid. Um, haven't really seen any of his stuff, so don't know much about him. It's just like, I don't know. He did he's done some more movies, but they're not like very well reviewed. I should have watched one for it since I don't know any of this guy's work. Um, but yeah, good acting, huh? No. It sucks because it's like, ah, there would have been so many good elements of it. And I think they did a good job with the glitching and stuff. Yeah, that was good. That was good. It's just like, I don't know, man. They just didn't really have a very good story around it. Uh, I thought Wendy was kind of creepy though. When she started kicking in her creep her creep mode. Yeah. And I thought like the whole setup was like, oh, I thought it was a girl's trip. I thought it was a relationship trip. How did Spider get here? I thought that was funny. And the guy who didn't want to do drugs on camera. Yeah. He didn't want to get the fear.
SPEAKER_00:The fear. Oh man, and this is segment. I want to be attacked by the fear. That could have been a monster. Yeah. I mean, maybe that's what this is.
SPEAKER_01:It's like, I like a part of me wishes they kind of like figured out a way to say, like, what is this glitch? How did it happen? This would have been an interesting, like why is it in the woods? This would have been yeah, right? Like, why there? It would have been a pretty interesting, like, actual movie. I thought that like if you put it in the hands of like a really good director, give it a decent budget. Like, it would have been like I thought it would have been a great idea. Um, the only like fact I have, uh, oh, this is actually a good one. The guy who plays Joey, you know, the the one that's not spider. Yes. That's like the kind of bigger guy. Like looks like it worked out. He's like, uh it's Drew Moreland. He plays Joey. He does voices for Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Horizon Forbidden West. It's mainly like kind of like like in Grand Theft Auto, it's a lot of the voices by you know, just civilians walking around and stuff. It's still pretty cool. And the same with Red Dead Redemption. Even cooler fact, he's also voicing Steve Rogers in the upcoming Captain America video game. Whoa. Yeah. Who's Steve? I was like, I was just uh Captain America.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, I didn't know that was his name.
SPEAKER_01:What a lame ass night. I can't remember. It's like Hydra 1941 or something. It comes out next year, and I was just like, it was funny when I looked at it, I was like, oh man, he's got like a he's got like a superhero face, right? I feel like his face was getting a cow. Yeah. Yeah. And then I was just kind of looking. There's not a lot of facts on this video. No. Did he oh yeah, he did. He dropped trial. See? A little bit extra, a little bit more nudity. Um, and I was just like trying to find like facts on so I started clicking through the cast and I found this guy, and I was like, oh, cool, this is an interesting fact. We don't have enough nude super fact tweet. Um but yeah, I mean, man, there's just not a lot to say about this one. Let's just get into it, you know.
SPEAKER_00:The setting is all wrong for a glitch monster. It's just like, it's wild. It's just if it was all taking place in like a virtual reality thing and where you die, yeah, or like glitch monster.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know, put it in a let's say a building where I don't know, like social media or something. Where there's electricity. And then like some like there was a fight between a guy, like the owner of the company, and like he fires them, and the guy accidentally like tries to do something to mess up the entire building or whatever, and ends up getting electrocuted and becomes a glitch that you can only see through video camera. That would have probably been better than setting out in the fucking woods. But it's Tuesday the 17th, it's a play on Friday the 13th. That doesn't make any sense because 13th is Friday, Saturday is 14th, Sunday is 15th, Monday is 16th, Tuesday is 17th. Oh, but it's so dumb.
SPEAKER_00:Mondays are scarier than Tuesdays. Everyone knows that.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know, man. I think they were just like, I have this idea. Oh, we'll put it in the woods. Oh, let's just name it. Hey, this happened like four or five days after. All right. Friday 13th. Jason's younger brother. I didn't I didn't fucking make the thing.
SPEAKER_00:I don't know. That's your fault.
SPEAKER_01:It's not my fault. I didn't do this. All right. So we'll continue with tape 56. Uh, we cut to the guy watching asking, what the fuck? LOL is what I put in there. He's like, what the fuck did I just watch about the second honeymoon? Yeah. Um, but Jason, the old man is gone. Yes. Ah. There was the whole point of setting the camera in front of these guys so that eventually he'll disappear.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yeah. Yeah. Maybe he went to get snacks to watch his favorite movies.
SPEAKER_01:And then uh the people in the basement leave the basement. They're like, hey, we gotta find these people and then cut to the next segment. It's very short. So I don't have much to say about that.
SPEAKER_00:Keep watching, even though the scary man is gone.
SPEAKER_01:The only reveal there is there is no old man. So Tuesday the 17th. Four friends, Wendy, Joey, Spider, and Samantha visit Wendy's hometown. The people with Wendy realized that she lied to get them all together, told Samantha it was a girl's trip, and Joey it was a couple's trip. I have no fucking idea how Spider got there in this situation. I guess like, hey, Spider, just come. He's got the camera. Yeah. So they walk around near a forest. Spider thinks he is going to get laid by Samantha. Wow, wow. Really? She's just got a pig. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's just this the part where he's like, this is where Joey's like, hey, why are you here? He's like, I don't know. I guess I'm gonna have sex with her. And then it's just like Spider, you have no shot. I'm sorry, guy. She just doesn't seem like she's gonna be into your She's dating locusts. Yeah. So sorry. So they um they go to the woods or Wendy leads her friends aimlessly through the trees. As the group continues to film, the footage shows strange glimpses glimpses of bodies. And Wendy starts telling Joey scary and confusing things. Um yeah, so there's like they're all gonna die. They get to like a little wall and they're like, Yeah, someone tripped and died here. And it's like, what? And then it kind of glitches out, and you see like blood and stuff. Um, they find a dead animal. Or and there's also they go and like kind of look in next to like a creek or a river or a lake or whatever, and then he's like filming, and then it just like glitches, and you see a naked man in the river with like his back cut or whatever. Um great idea. Just doesn't really work that well. So they find a dead animal. Wendy looks at a river and we see a naked dead man. Oh, just said that. Wendy says, turns to Joey, looks at him, Joey, you're all gonna fucking die here. And it's like, good vibes. And Joey's like, what'd you say? What? What? Like, huh? Do you have the keys? All right, whatever. Let's go. Oh, he's like, I'm just playing with you. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. And Joey's like, okay, fun. Glad I'm dating you. Yeah. So the group rests near a river and smoke marijuana. Spider doesn't like drugs and he's scared he's getting the fear. But they convince him to smoke and he coughs classic. A pussy. Gotta take a bigger rip than that, baby to make me cough.
SPEAKER_00:They did call him a pussy, kind of, because they're like, no, you gotta do it better.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, because he he first smokes it and then doesn't inhale and just blows it out, and it's like, you that's not how you smoke weed. Well, but like for your first time, you know, whatever. I guess. I mean, but that's like a mistake. He calls it getting the fear, you gotta pick on them. If someone said, I don't want to smoke Mary Mary Mary Jane, because I don't want to get the fear and be like, I need you to leave.
SPEAKER_00:I want to smoke one of those left-handed cigarettes. Yeah. Bully for me.
SPEAKER_01:Since Prohibition, this is all we got to do. So Joey asks Wendy about what she was saying before. She starts to talk about accidents she had with old friends and a mysterious man, but she laughs and everyone believes she's joking. She's like, huh? Wait, why are you being weird? I'm running out of this forest. It's like it's like after you said we're all gonna fucking die, like, I don't trust anything you're saying at this point. Right, yeah. So Joey gets naked and jumps in the river. He pretends to drown. Classic. That was great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:This classic for a second there.
SPEAKER_01:Yep. I was like, oh no, there's totally like a giant shark or crocodile in this lake. Captain America came out. Yeah. Um, so Spider and Samantha get away from the site because she had to pee. She wants to show Spider a cheer, and it's so natural and works perfectly for a segment. Uh, when she begins, the camera glitches, and we see something throw a knife and kill Samantha. This one is just like one throw straight to the left eye. Straight through her skull. Yeah, you got the eye hanging out.
SPEAKER_00:I'm just like she talks.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, she's like, uh, did something happen?
SPEAKER_00:I don't know. I feel weird. Finish your cheering.
SPEAKER_01:It's like, uh, do you think we'll make state? Uh no, but like, you know. That's a kill shot. I've kind of been shitting on this, but that was great. It's a great death. The the gore and the violence in it, it's all done pretty well. It all looks real. It's fun. It's great. I love a good face knife. Yeah. Man, that's my favorite. I just actually bought a few face knives, so I have one more today. Spider tries to run, but he is soon killed as well. It's like just getting stabbed in the head repeatedly.
SPEAKER_00:Right in the forehead.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and it's like, ta-cha-cha-cha. Wait, maybe a few more times. I don't think you got them. I don't think that's an easy place to stab, is it? No, but I guess when you're a glitch, you can just do it.
SPEAKER_00:That's the hardest part of your head. Yeah. That's the part where you headbutt things. Yeah. Yeah. It's got all those little hollow pockets so that you don't knock yourself unconscious when you run into stuff. Like maybe you live the like knives. I'm sure you, I'm sure you made it.
SPEAKER_01:Um, so the bodies are dragged away, and Wendy comes and finds the camera and then heads back. She's like, Oh, he gives my camera. I knew I lost this.
SPEAKER_00:Where did everybody go? And we're like, I'm gonna go with the camera.
SPEAKER_01:Why did Wendy do this? Is this all a plan? And when she returns to Joey, she finds that he has just come out from swimming in the river, and she awkwardly asks him, You know, fuck me in the river. My name is Wendy.
SPEAKER_00:I'm at He's like, Well, what where is everyone else?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, hey, and then he starts becoming frustrated with Wendy, and then he's like, Look, I know something happened here. I remember reading about it, so why don't you just tell me?
SPEAKER_00:He could have said that earlier, or whatever when was asking her if she was being real. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01:Just maybe confront her at that point, then you can all run out and hope one of you makes it out of life. Um, and so Wendy explains that the others were killed, and she only brought them as bait to bring in the killer who terrorized her and killed her friends when she was younger. Um, and she explains that like she killed all these people and nobody believed her, and she's like kind of gone crazy because of it. And she wants to get the guy on camera so he can be like, see? I just need to kill a couple more people. Here he is. So the killer comes again, and we see that the person is a silhouette of a man covered by technical glitches. According to Wendy, he has supernatural powers that allow him to teleport and hide his appearance on camera, though we do see that his face is red with what it's mostly blood. Uh the man kills Joey by slitting his throat, and then Wendy runs away, and we see that she has previously made traps to stop the killer. First few traps failed. Oh, that kind of just came out of nowhere. Yeah, it's like, when did she fucking do this? Are they walking? It's like, does she disappear from? I mean, maybe when she went to grab the camera, this was like, this is my chance. Let me dig a hole real quick and then build these traps monster. Build a spike trap, and then like, why didn't it kill you whenever maybe if you walk alone in the woods, it doesn't attack you? Kind of weird. Ultimately, why it kind of doesn't fully work.
SPEAKER_00:How he's walking around with his throat cut after I don't know, as we haven't got around for a while. We haven't got there yet. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah, just the she lures the guy to fall in the hole. He immediately gets out of the hole. It's like, I guess she didn't have that much time to dig a hole. I don't know. He's a sucky hole. And then leads him to a bear trap, wherever the fuck she got that, whenever the fuck she set that up. Obviously, she had to come here before these people got there. And we're and then she gets in the the guy's in the bear trap, and then she walks up to him, like, hey, gotcha. And then he stabs him, like, you got his foot, not his arms. He's a glitch man. I don't, I mean, I'm sure like he can still sta I don't he's probably stronger.
SPEAKER_00:And I was like, I'm gonna walk up to him. Got him.
SPEAKER_01:But so she runs and she runs away, telling the camera, don't come here. Then sees Joey walking around and the camera glitches as she sees the glitch coming, but yeah, he's like, uh uh.
SPEAKER_00:And then just falls dead.
SPEAKER_01:And it's like my baseball. It's like, what? I mean, would this guy really be walking around? And she's been running for a while. That's like, hey, Joey, put your hand over your neck. He made it quite a long way. Yeah, he did a pretty good job. Way to go, Joey. With no segment. Um, as he comes, she eventually stops him with a spike trap. It rolls, though. The spike trap get out of here.
SPEAKER_00:That was pretty cool, but it's no idea when she made it, but the I guess glitch doesn't bleed or anything. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And you know what? She didn't watch Predator. Because if it doesn't bleed, you can't kill it. Oh man. If it bleeds, it can you can kill it. So Wendy gloats that she has finally caught him and people will believe her now. However, she turns around only to see that the glitch man has escaped. The killer then pounces on her and guts her with a knife and pulls out her intestines.
SPEAKER_00:First, he beats her to death with the camera. Yeah. And then the camera still works.
SPEAKER_01:And then it pulls out her intestines and then uh the camera falls next to her and then like it starts fast forwarding and she's convulsing and film ins. Yay, it's over. Yeah, it's definitely you're halfway through, and it's like, all right, I know y'all wanted to have multiple segments, but hey, let's cut this 20-minute segment and let's uh shorten this movie a little bit. Because I think out of all of them, you could have cut this. Yeah, for sure. It definitely liked them. I like the monster though. Yeah, I like the monster. It's great. That's why it's like realistically, when this comes on, I'm like, oh yeah, this one. And like I watch it and I enjoy it well enough. But it's like, if I was going to complain about one, I would complain about this one. Yeah. And so that is what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_00:Uh yeah. I don't know. But no, the glitch monster? I think the next one is a little the kind of the same for me.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, really? There's I understand. We'll get there. Okay. Uh I have problems with it too, but I also kind of like it. So yeah. You know, we just don't have too much more to say about it. Glitch monster, cool. Glitchy ass bitch, pretty great.
SPEAKER_00:Glitch it.
SPEAKER_01:The glitch man, he's he's a little messy. He's a little messy. Well, no, Wendy was messy. Like, come on, girl, stop being so messy. But anyways, that is our discussion on this one. Um, yeah, that's all we gotta say about it. Uh, hey, you know what? We're ending the podcast. So, hey, leave us some likes, some follows, do some that dang old sending us some like fan mail and stuff. It's all in the description. I'm pointing to my left like it's right over there. Yeah, it's right behind him. Um, yeah, and uh leave us some reviews. I hope you all are enjoying this bonus episode. This is our third one. It's really fun. We actually filming y'all in one day. I'm gonna keep saying that. I ramble at the end of the podcast. Thanks for listening. And thank you, Joey Prosser. This has been the We Recommend Podcast. I'm Jesse. I'm Jason. We're all gonna die. Yay! Yay! I was gonna do some glitch, but I was like, man, that's gonna be a lot of editing. These are just bonuses. Bye!
