SPEAKER_02:

Hello and welcome to the We Recommend Podcast, a movie podcast where every week we recommend a movie for you to watch, and then come back here and listen to us discuss. I'm Jesse. And I'm Jason. I've always been better at filling out volcanoes than people in politics. Cause this week we recommend Dante Spee!

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, I thought for sure you were gonna choose the quote where he's like, sex is like a bicycle.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, I didn't even remember that quote. I think I missed that one.

SPEAKER_04:

You never forget.

SPEAKER_02:

You never forget.

SPEAKER_04:

Even though he never gets to have sex. Yeah. I feel this is all a movie about his sex relationships. This movie, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like he's a I mean, their relationship is ready to explode at any time and cause problems for everybody.

SPEAKER_04:

He's been picking for years. He's edging so hard like this volcano.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like, ugh. It's just ready to pop. So this movie. What are your thoughts?

SPEAKER_04:

Oh man, I love Pierce Brosnan so much.

SPEAKER_02:

He's so handsome and charming.

SPEAKER_04:

So fucking handsome.

SPEAKER_02:

And I'm sure Linda Hamilton would be too if they gave her more to do. It's gonna be a long time. She's here to terminate this movie. This volcano. She's here to have someone for him to potentially have sex with. Why do you think her husband left? Uh probably because it's like you're the mayor and you have a coffee shop. And your last name is Wando. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

What is up with that?

SPEAKER_02:

I can't like whatever I was trying to write it, type down their names, like, there's no way I'm hearing Wando, right?

SPEAKER_04:

I just can't do it anymore.

SPEAKER_02:

He probably just didn't want to live in this town. He's like, that's a volcano? Uh why are we here? Oh, maybe he was a geologist. He was the volcano. The gods turned him into it. So when Pierce Sprosman comes in and starts hitting on her, it's like, no. She looks up at the mountain, just looks back at Pierce. Flicking her off. So um this movie, um, I love it. I know, it's really good. It's so fun. Um, here's so I watched it, I think around Thanksgiving. Me and Natalie did this whole thing. We watched Dante's Peak and then Volcano. Oh, really? And then the next day we watch Armageddon and uh Deep Impact. It's the whole reason we're doing this like four straight weeks of watching those movies. And I I watched Dante's Peak and I was like, this is the this is a great movie. Which one's better? Uh we'll we'll get to that after we do it. We'll do that after tomorrow. After we do volcano, we'll have a little we'll we'll when we talk about that. Um, but I was watching this and I was like, wait, is this is this a good movie or a bad movie? Like I don't know what people I always thought when people talked about it, they thought it was a bad movie. Turns out, yep, people don't people think it's not that good of a movie. I was like I was like, what are we talking about? The ending like the last 40 minutes rule.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Sadly, I had to skip the last 20 minutes. Yeah, but I gotta recap.

SPEAKER_02:

It's a movie podcast where one of the guys didn't finish the narration. Just kidding. He had a lot of stuff to do.

SPEAKER_04:

And you know what kids tried to watch this last night with kids. Dude, there wasn't a fucking second that went by where somebody didn't spill something or like scream at another person or hit a person. And it's like, I just can't.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like I can't do this. That's how it is in my house, but it's all with cats and dogs.

SPEAKER_04:

You and Natalie do good.

SPEAKER_02:

No, I'm just constantly like, stop drinking water, Snake. Gracie, stop licking yourself. Cats are attacking each other. I gotta go figure out what's going on in there.

SPEAKER_03:

See, you got kids.

SPEAKER_02:

And then like Snake gets up and all of a sudden he's the whiniest dog you've ever met in your life. Oh wait, that's every second of the day. I like dogs, I promise. Even the dog in this movie who's got the silliest little heart. So, well, like I looked up some stuff. I was like, all right, what does people not like about this movie? A lot of people says it takes too long to get to the volcano. And I'm like, well, it's like an hour and four minutes, and then the rest of the movie is volcano. Like, I mean, do we want that much volcano? But I thought, like, and the people are like, oh, it's so slow and too boring. And I'm like, so whenever I watched it this morning to do notes, I was like, all right, maybe it was because I was intoxicated when I watched it the first time. But then I watched it this time, I'm like, I don't know. Like, can we just not watch a movie and like learn about people for a little bit in this town? And then all of a sudden this disaster happens because it kind of just leads you up. I mean, it gives you enough to be like, oh shit. I mean, there's some you could have cut like 10 minutes out of this movie, easy, but I don't know if that was just a big volcano for the because it's volcanoes four minutes shorter.

SPEAKER_04:

Sure, yeah, it is, and it feels 20 minutes.

SPEAKER_02:

You notice it's wild. I was like, man, this like because if you do the comparison of volcano, I thought Dante's Peak was the silly one. Nice, but it's not volcanoes, the silly one, and I was totally taken off guard when I watched the two back to back. I was like, whoa, I thought volcano was more serious, but I'm like, no, that movie is just insane. It is more like Armageddon, and this is more like deep impact. Nice. Um, but I don't know. I just thought it was like it's a disaster movie, it's fun. Once the action starts happening, it's great. I do have one problem with the movie. There's a whole lot of deaths in this movie, none by volcano. Well, none by lava. Lava. How are you gonna have lava and nobody die in lava? I mean, but those skinny dippers everybody dies of water. It was hot water and bad stinky water. It's just like you think of a volcano movie, it's like everybody's gonna die from lava. No, it's just like, no. Pretty much you just gotta watch out for water out here.

SPEAKER_04:

Like if in Deep Impact nobody died from water but from volcanoes or anything because of the water.

SPEAKER_02:

Wait, the armor the Wait, what? The asteroids aren't even killing us? It's the lava? There is no lava here.

SPEAKER_01:

So, um, and then this kind of led me to like thinking about alright, so I don't think actually most um disaster movies get really that great reviews.

SPEAKER_02:

So I gotta ask you something. Are disaster movies actually even good?

SPEAKER_04:

Um I like watching them regardless if they're good or not.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. But I was trying to think, because I was, you know, when we have the double feature, I was like, shit, are all disaster movies not very good? They're just like turn off your brain and watch good. Yes.

SPEAKER_04:

I think so.

SPEAKER_02:

I was like, I can't not think of a single one where I was like, that I mean, honestly, I really like Deep Impact, but even that's really silly sometimes. But I'm like, is that the best one? It's the only one I though there is a movie called Greenland. Um, it's on HBO and it's about asteroids hitting, and it's actually pretty darn good, and it's getting a sequel now. Nice. So I was like, after doing this, I was like, damn, should we do a fifth disaster movie in a row to Greenland?

SPEAKER_04:

Um because Greenland's gonna be ours soon.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's ours. So uh, what's your favorite disaster movie if you have one?

SPEAKER_04:

Man, I really like the one. Was it 2026 or 20 something with with Woody Harrelson as the crazy man in the 2012. 2012 in the Vulcan in the Yellowstone volcano exploding? That movie is ridiculous. It is so ridiculous, but I love it.

SPEAKER_02:

It got it got to a point because it's long, it's like over two hours. There's a point where I was like, can John Cusack just die? I cannot believe this movie anymore.

SPEAKER_04:

No, he must romance someone else.

SPEAKER_02:

I know that like you're supposed to like shut your brain off and just watch, but sometimes with the disaster movies are so ridiculous that I'm like, I start getting kind of pissed off and want people to start the main characters to die. I'm like, this is impossible. You guys have to die. I know the whole situation is impossible, but you know, just like plot armor. I'm just like, at some point, it's kind of like watching Stranger Things. I'm like, you guys gotta start dying.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, no, yeah. Towards the end at the end.

SPEAKER_02:

Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers, just in case. Sorry, stranger. I'm not gonna say anything.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm just gonna say at the end of I was just ready for everyone to just shut the fuck up.

SPEAKER_00:

And yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

So if that means dying, then yes, please.

SPEAKER_02:

How in one episode did y'all go to 50 different rooms to yell at each other? Um, all right, so uh uh volcano, flood, asteroids, earthquakes. If you were in a disaster, which one do you want to be in? And I in those four options. In those four options? Well, that's the only ones. Well, I mean like tsunami hurricane like, but I was just trying to think of like disaster tropes and movies.

SPEAKER_01:

Like, which one would you rather be in?

SPEAKER_06:

Man. Probably like tsunami.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I don't want to be in volcano.

SPEAKER_02:

I was thinking, I want to be in the I think if I had to choose flood, because I just lay on my back and I just float.

SPEAKER_04:

But if you think about it, just kidding. You get your flies on.

SPEAKER_02:

And I choose asteroids and hope it lands directly on. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

No, but if you think about I think maybe volcano, I'm gonna change my institute to volcanoes. Because look at the the island of uh the fuck, whatever.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Oh yeah, I guess like if I could survive so quickly. And I guess like you technically you don't have to die. So if you just get far enough away from the volcano, but I have some volcano fix like that.

SPEAKER_04:

When they were digging those dudes up on an island, they found a dude in the middle of like self-pleasure. Really? And he was frozen in time forever. How embarrassing would that be? It's not embarrassing, it's a hell of a way to go.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. Like I wish that he like I just can only hope that he died, like put it like still had his hand on one thing and then has his hand up, like his puts his hand over his face, like right before he dies. So every time you go to visit him, he'd be like, hell yeah, brother. It's the way to go.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, you I guess volcano actually would be better because you can just kind of run away from if you if you've learned away from the colour. You can learn if you like, oh, like, so like let's say in this movie, which is a really dumb, silly part of this movie where they're like, all right, we're gonna have a meeting discussing about leaving. Be like, as soon as I heard that, it's like, oh yeah, the volcano might erupt. Um, so we're gonna have a town hall meeting that you guys gotta come to. I'd be like, nah, bitch.

SPEAKER_04:

Bye. I know I love that that one woman that went to the meeting. She's like, Can I leave now? He's like, uh yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

As soon as she said that, I'd be like, cool, I'm out. I'm gone. See you later, alligators.

SPEAKER_04:

So silly. I wonder if the flyer on the front of the gym said, volcano question mark. Should we go? Yeah. Should we leave right now?

SPEAKER_02:

Um, my last question is, is Pierce Brosman too charming for this movie?

SPEAKER_04:

He's way too he's way too handsome.

SPEAKER_02:

Like when he's a jail, like if he can't, like, no wonder Linda Hamilton uh is just like, Jesus, I have to take advantage of this situation right now. With a name like Wando, I gotta take every chance. Like, yeah, it's like I gotta change his last name. But she's just like, he just like because the first time I watched it, you know, I wasn't really paying attention to stuff like that. And then this time I was like, you guys are not making a big enough deal of the fact that the most charming and handsome man just walked into your town and is telling y'all what to do.

SPEAKER_04:

You gotta believe this man. They were yeah. Maybe they were just hoping he'd charm the volcano back to sleep.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I can't do it, Pierce Bros. I'm not even gonna try.

SPEAKER_04:

So did you get a lot of correlations to Twister in this?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I could see it. Like they have a whole crew, they have an elf, you know.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. Even the robot. Yeah. Like, I mean, the worst robot. Yeah. This robot.

SPEAKER_02:

So but can't believe they thought they could take that somewhere and use it. Yeah. It looks like it couldn't go down a flight of stairs, let alone. That's why I think the only smart person in this movie is Pierce Brosmann. Yeah. He's the only one. And don't even get me started about Coffee Guy. I don't know what character it is. I don't like why they came up with it. It's like they tried so hard to make these uh the little side characters like something, and just didn't fell flat on all of them.

SPEAKER_04:

Totally fell flat. Uh the only one I did like Paul. Yeah, Paul was all right. Yeah, when he comes in, the only other girl that was on the team. I think she was pretty cool because she didn't have any lines.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, she did a great job at like saying five words.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it was great. She she crushed it. Your line is coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee.

SPEAKER_02:

Cappuccina, Java, yeah. Paul's just like, you're fired. So um the casting crew of this movie found themselves in a distribution race with 20th Century Fox, which was producing Volcano the same year. At the same time, due to a sped-up production schedule, the movie reached theaters almost three months earlier and had better box office success. Nice.

SPEAKER_04:

Suck it, Tommy Lee Jones.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, you're nobody. Just kidding. That's the only thing this movie was missing is the Tommy Lee Jones figure. Because he is the best. It it did kind of need like well, I mean, uh Linda Hamilton's great. I just wish they gave her a little bit more to do. Um, but she makes shitty coffee. It just needed like a better, like one extra side character that is really like, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Like a s like a Johnny 5 robot. Yeah. I mean if they made the robot part of the volcano. Made them silly? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

So the movie grossed worldwide,$178 million.

SPEAKER_04:

So I thought you were about to say a thousand.

SPEAKER_02:

What what did uh what did uh volcanoes? Uh worldwide gross. Volcano made$122 million. So they both had almost essentially the exact same opening weekend though. Um and but Dante's Peak was a lot more money. Which is kinda wild because I mean most of this movie is just them kind of walking in the woods. But fuck that that the where they're at looked amazing. Yeah, it looks amazing. Which saying that, most of the film's exteriors were shot in Wallace, Idaho. Dante's Peak and surrounding scenery were digitally added. Which I mean, that's that's the thing. This movie looks amazing. Even the lava great. Yeah. I was very surprised. Volcano? Not so much sometimes. Because there's too much lava. That's exactly why there's not that much lava in this movie, is because they didn't they wouldn't have been able to pull it off. So at one point, someone says that tilt meter devices set up around the mountain had detected no change to its shape. When Mount St. Helens was about to explode, tilt meter tilt meters detected a change in the angle of the ground where they were planted, indicating a massive underground flow of magma that was causing the northern side of the mountain to bulge. Scientists grossly underestimated the amount of energy that had been stored up. The lead USGS scientist set up an observation post almost directly facing the bulge, assuming that the distance of six miles would be safe. The explosion was much greater than expected. The scientist was killed and his body was never found found. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Probably incinerated him immediately. Man, like blown to bits.

SPEAKER_02:

Why couldn't I have like paid attention with Mount St. Helens? I mean, I wasn't alive. That didn't help, but it'd been really cool to just been like, hey, I get to see this on the news.

SPEAKER_04:

Um did you see the video that the guy was taking of the explosion? He was with his camcorder of Mount St. Helens. He's like, I need to look it up. He's like watching it and then goes boom. And he's like, oh, yeah. Oh shit. But he died within like a minute, I think. Well 10 minutes. Yeah, it might be that he's that guy.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it was like probably like six miles. Maybe it wasn't. It could have been him. So the director. Enjoy that bulge. Yeah. Dang. I gotta get away from this.

SPEAKER_04:

Somebody called Pierce Brosnan.

SPEAKER_02:

I gotta get away from this volcano. It's making me small. So the director of this movie, uh, pretty good director, and I didn't even realize it. So he did No Way Out with um, what's his face? Oh yeah. Uh shit, what's his name? Yellowstone Boy. Um, he did Cocktail with uh Tom Cruise. It's an insane movie. It's hilarious. I love it.

SPEAKER_04:

Um, this is that the one where he's the bartender, yeah. And he the lady orders the red eye something.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's a very wild movie, and I'm like, that's what this movie's about. Um he did Species 13 Days, The Bank Job? I mean, you know, I haven't seen the bank job, but I heard it's good. I'm just yelling about him. Um but so Roger Donaldson had not met Pierce Brosman before making this movie. He had seen Pierce Brosman play James Bond and Goldeneye, and the two got to know each other before filming. I am gonna be watching that movie tonight.

SPEAKER_04:

What, Goldeneye? Yeah. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Because I want to watch those after watching Pierce Brosman.

SPEAKER_04:

You get to watch Drive a Tank while standing up, which is not a thing that should happen.

SPEAKER_02:

Are you James Bond? I didn't think so. So, uh my last little fact, and it kind of goes along with the stuff I said a little like before I just did this last fact. So when we watch this movie, right, we're thinking all the characters aren't too bad, right? And then that fucking bitch Ruth shows up. Oh God, Ruth and those kids. I can't even be mad at the kids. The kids are just like the kids are awesome. Grandma, I want to save her, dude. Who wants to save Grandma? Like their kids, they're not smart. They're gonna try to do the best thing they can do for Grand Gam.

SPEAKER_04:

I guess this kid has been stealing the car a lot because he knows how to drive. And he couldn't even see.

SPEAKER_02:

He didn't know how to drive that wheel because he didn't even know how to turn the windshield wipers on. That's the first thing you kind of start playing with when you're in a car.

SPEAKER_04:

And if when you first see him, he's crawling out of an abandoned mind. Yeah, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Where he definitely stores a buttload of porno. Why would you have a mind with your friends and not just filled with porno Mac?

SPEAKER_04:

I just yeah, I was hoping that just a cloud of smoke comes out when you're gonna go.

SPEAKER_02:

It's bud golly. Mom, you rule. So Ruth refusing to leave was inspired by real events. So in 1980, when Mount St. Helens was about to blow, local resident Harry R. Truman, no relation to Harry S.

SPEAKER_04:

Truman, that joke didn't land. No, no, he was the leader of the uh FBI, right? I can't remember.

SPEAKER_02:

Was it him? Uh yeah, I think so. There was a Harry S. Truman running FBI.

SPEAKER_04:

Harry S. Truman.

SPEAKER_02:

Hell yeah. So Harry R. Truman lived in a failed tourist lodge that he owned for 50 years, adamantly, and he adamantly refused to leave. He was uh interviewed on camera and pointedly warned, but he insisted that the danger was being exact wildly exaggerated. Uh David Johnson, a principal scientist on the USGS team, the guy we were talking about earlier, had taken up a position six miles away to observe the mountain's north face. On May 18th, 1980, at 8 32 AM, Johnson radioed the message, Vancouver, Vancouver, that is it. Seconds later, he was killed by the lateral blast, which removed an entire north side of the mountain. Row construction workers found remnants of Johnston's USGS trailer in 1993. Neither his body nor the body of Truman were ever found. The pyroclastic flows began at speed of 225 miles per hour and accelerated to 675 miles per hour. Yes. Almost the speed of sound, Johnston was impacted at a speed of 360 miles per hour. Holy shit.

SPEAKER_04:

Incredible. I just imagine like from like Mars attacks, how they're just turned into skeletons. Like that's what he was after the blast.

SPEAKER_02:

So, like, do you know anything about Pompeii?

SPEAKER_04:

That's what I was talking about earlier. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like I don't know much about it.

SPEAKER_02:

Did the did the scientists not study Pompeii?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, no, they did. I think so.

SPEAKER_02:

But I mean, like lots of people did. I mean, what is he like? Six miles. That was pretty good. I mean, was Mount St. Halen Helen Halen's better, like bigger than Pompeii?

SPEAKER_04:

Well, I think Pompeii, they were living on the volcano, like on the slopes of the mountain. Or the volcano. Okay.

SPEAKER_02:

Because I was just like, I mean, at least at some point they should have known, like, oh man, this there was damage six miles away, but I guess it was so long ago it's hard to tell. I don't know. Alright, um so before we get into the plot, we would like you, at home, in your car, at work, whatever, to think about what the point of this movie is. Um it's probably like volcano big, it'll go boom, frosman handsome, Tail Conohaw. Um, but yeah, we'd like to hear what you think the point of this movie is. And let us know what you think of this movie. Am I wrong in thinking it's a great, fun movie? Or am I right? I'm always right. You're always right. I'm always right. It's my podcast, it's our podcast. We're right. Unless me and Jason have differing thoughts, then Jason's wrong, then I'm right. All right, Jason. Let's get into 1997's Dante Peak.

SPEAKER_04:

Thanks.

SPEAKER_02:

So in 1993, USGS, I am gonna say that a lot. Volcano volcanoologist. Dr. Harry Dalton. Volcanologist? Volcanologist.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm doing the like Mr. Spock. I'm doing the Spock. Um, Dr. Harry Dalton and his partner, uh, Mary Ann attempt to escape. An eruption in Columbia. In the escape, a piece of debris kills Mary Ann.

SPEAKER_03:

I love how she was like, no, head. It cooked her brain.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, she wanted to stay and check the reading.

SPEAKER_04:

It's like, it's bit, it's pretty big. Don't worry about those readings, dude. I wish we could have got a close-up on the readings. It's just like a cartoon.

SPEAKER_05:

Rug, bitch, bro!

SPEAKER_02:

Scary meeting. Just in case no one knew what the reference was.

SPEAKER_04:

Hey, there's a volcano happening, that's what it says.

SPEAKER_02:

Man, like it has to suck that not only was there's volcanic volcano ash everywhere, it's also raining. It's like, oh, worst possible situation.

SPEAKER_04:

It was raining poo all over. Did you see that one guy running away carrying the crucifix?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. It's like, hey man, you can build a new one. Don't they make those you can buy those at Walmart, dude. Just get out of there. Um, but we had to say the death of his uh girlfriend, uh brutal was awesome. Like the deaths in here are like very affecting. Like it really got me in. I watched that um there's a Netflix volcano documentary. Volcano, Netflix, Doc. Um, the like rescue from Wakari or whatever. And this one wasn't really like a lava uh volcano, it just like but like it just put out steam and stuff, and like these people they get they're going to just tour it because they have like tours every day. There's like four groups, and so they go on it and um it's funny because like one of the people, it's not funny, but it was funny. Um like one of the girls there who wasn't an adventure type, he was she was just doing it for her like just got married like a couple days before doing this, was doing it for her husband to go like see this volcano. And she was like, So when was the last time it erupted? Well, it did it in 2012, and or it was like 2013, then in 2016, and then 2019. She's like, So it's gonna go off this year. She's like, Yeah, but it you'll be fine. And then it goes off, but like they actually have like a recording of like everybody screaming as like the uh plume like comes over them and stuff, completely covers them in dark. Well, so it was just releasing off really hot steam, so like their clothes didn't burn, but their skin, but their skin, yeah, and like you can kind of see how like burnt up they are, and it's like holy shit, and like the videos are amazing, and it's like funny, not funny. Um, but you know, like I always go into those things like I like to watch like the tornado docs and like just disaster docks, and I'm always like, oh, this is gonna be rad. And then it's like 10 minutes into like the destruction. I'm like, I feel bad now. So um don't well I just I guess I just wanted to bring that up. Uh y'all should you should watch that. It's really good. I should have made that my double feature. You know what? I'm going to. So um, and then I'll I put at the end here, it's like, Harry will never trust a volcano again.

SPEAKER_04:

Killed his girlfriend.

SPEAKER_02:

Killed my girlfriend. Now I'll never get light again.

SPEAKER_04:

He's gotta get his revenge.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. So it's four years later. Harry is uh doing push-ups so he can fly at every volcano he finds. This man's ready to go. Um, Dr. Paul Dreyfus uh calls him in. Um is a he's assigned by his uh superior Dr. Paul Dreyfus to investigate seismic activity near Dante's Peak, Washington, a town that borders a dormant volcano. Chances of an eruption are 10,000 to one. Not high enough chances for me. Um I love it. Like, so he's like, he's supposed to be on vacation. They call him in. Everybody's like, hey, you're supposed to be on vacation. Why you can you just can't stop working, blah, blah, blah. I'm just bringing that up now because later they're just like, you need a vacation. It's like, you fucking called it. Yeah, you called him in. Dicks. So Harry arrives at the town, he sees Dante Peak for the first time. Looks fucking stunning, dude. This movie looks amazing. It looks real as shit.

SPEAKER_04:

I love how they're having pioneer festivals. Shouldn't they be having like Volcano Day or something?

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, that was uh well, not now, but now that it went off, they will.

SPEAKER_04:

Once they rebuild this town. I just want to see a parade of people dressed up like volcanoes. Yeah. Maybe sacrifice a couple of virgins.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I just got throw a few in there. Um, so then he meets with the mayor and also local coffee shop owner. Uh Rachel Wando. Also, he'll meet her children, Graham and Lauren. The town around the volcano is just voted second best to live in USA, according to Money Magazine. Hell yeah. Population below 20K and is about to receive a major investment from Blair Industries. Um, so like if she wakes up, her kid, she like she obviously does not have her life together. Somehow she's the mayor and she owns this coffee shop because the kid's like, hey, I know where your stuff is. What you don't even remember the names of the people you're supposed to talk to. And it's like, lady, how'd you get mayor, man?

SPEAKER_04:

Best coffee in town.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's all it takes. And then so she's like in a rush because she's gonna be late for a speech. It's like, what were you doing before the camera started rolling and showing what you're doing? It's like how you're in the mayor and you're late for your own speech. Um, so then we see two horn dogs about to get it on in a hot spings, and uh, they got so hot. I said spings. They got so hot they burned up to death. Uh I love there's like the bubble, and it's like, hey, get out.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, yeah, but before that, the birds flew away, and he's like, Oh, it's probably not bone.

SPEAKER_02:

That's probably maybe get out just in case it's like a mountain lion or something. But I do love that there's a giant bubble, and he's like, What the heck? And I'm like, this was a great time for a babe.

SPEAKER_04:

I know I bet it smelled like sulfur too.

SPEAKER_02:

Sulfur smells like farts. Just think of like the last because each one of them were like, damn, did she fart? And then they died. It's like that just really sucks. It's the last thing you're gonna think uh before he died. Ugh, she just farted. It wasn't the uh so Rachel is going to show Harry around. I don't know why the mayor's the specific one that's doing it. They first stop to get her son out of an old abandoned uh porn mine that I'm sure won't come into play later. Uh she then takes him with them as they see their former mother-in-law, Ruth, who lives near a lake at the base of the volcano. Rachel was just gonna drop the kids off, but Ruth decides they should all go because no one inspects Harry's time. Like, what the hell are y'all doing? This guy's here to look at stuff, and everybody's like, let's go on. Um uh yeah, and outside of the volcano, it's a perfect place to live. Because I mean it looks beautiful.

SPEAKER_04:

It is gorgeous. I was just like, I went swimming in a volcanic lake in Mexico, and it's absolutely gorgeous. No fish, however. I wonder why. Um I feel like they stalked the lake in this one, if that was a volcanic lake. Oh, gotcha. You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Um but yeah, like I've never I've never really even seen anything about Idaho. It's not really something else. Oh, really? That's nice. But like, you know, people don't really like make movies about Idaho and you don't really see a lot of like scenery of Idaho unless you're just like searching it out. I didn't realize uh it seems like the most perfect place to live.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, up near because it it borders um like Montana. Yeah. Kind of like in Yellowstone National Park, a little bit of it goes into Idaho. Like I've been camping in the Idaho part of the park. It was really pretty. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Shouldn't visit once. I don't know why we got trees here. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

So what's the big deal, Yellowstone?

SPEAKER_02:

While exploring, they find dead trees, dead squirrels, even two people boiled to death by hot spreads.

SPEAKER_04:

Those kids, man, seeing all this death, they were completely unfair. Yeah, they seemed like pretty good afterwards, you know. And the mom, she was just like kissing him, like, oh, you're gonna be unfair. You're gonna be right.

SPEAKER_02:

You see, uh, you see the dude that got burnt up? Man, he had so much cake. I was like, golly, I know that's not a real dead body there. Um, and it's just like a dummy they probably put in there. I was like, God, they picked the one with the fattest ass.

SPEAKER_04:

He's got a dumb truck.

SPEAKER_02:

I was like, geez, he was definitely the one that farted, that's for sure. Um, and I love it. It's like, because you know, they're all going there and like Ruth's like, yeah, we're gonna like jump in the hot springs, and like Harry's like, I got shit to do, but okay. Um, and then like Rachel's son's about to go run in there, and he's like, What? No, and that's when we see the bodies. Um, but my favorite part of this scene is when the little girl screams, Lauren, and then like they all walk up. Ruth's just like, that's what all the screaming is about. And then she's like, Yeah, there these squirrels have been popping up all over the place. Must be some sort of squirrel like an epidemic.

SPEAKER_04:

Yes. But I love the Ruth was how does it date the movie so hard when she says they they came up here to get nooky?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, right. Right, because the last movie we heard that in was Sinners, and that was even older. Just some old Ruth talk, you know? Fuck Ruth. God. She made me so mad. So Harry and Rachel call a city council meeting. Harry thinks that they should alert the town of a potential eruption. They all yell at him and are worried about Blair Industries, uh, that they will back out of the deal. Classic. It's very even have 800 people to work at these jobs. I think they said what didn't they say, like uh under 20,000. Yeah, it was like 17,000 or something like that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, but it's it's a tourism town.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, well, I mean, that's why it's like they need to drive more people.

SPEAKER_04:

You don't want more people to go to move there. That's the whole point. Hey, yeah, they do.

SPEAKER_02:

Money, baby. That's why every town has to grow so ridiculously, and we won't stop building houses. Just stop having kids.

SPEAKER_03:

Just stuff it.

SPEAKER_02:

We won't need all this place. So um Paul arrives with the USGS team that evening and they set up a base to monitor their volcano. Paul joins uh the like meeting and takes Harry out of the meeting and tells him he's overreacting. Paul tells a story about putting a town on alert, and the town completely failed afterwards because people were like, we ain't staying near a volcano, something this town should have just already thought. Uh so he tells everybody not to worry and they will test the mountain. Harry tells Paul that he's making a grave mistake. I love it when Paul comes in here. Like an actor is really good. He just like comes in, is very believable. I just like the way he talks. I do too. I know. I was like, hell yeah, I love Paul. I did too. And I bet he won't die. Couldn't be the fucking coffee guy. Couldn't be Terry. I think coffee guy was in love with Paul. A little bit. I do think there was a little bit there, yeah. He liked him. But I think it's probably because Paul really liked coffee, so he's like, I just gotta be near Paul. Um, but yeah, it's this very classic uh, oh, money's getting in the way. Money and politics. It's always gonna cause anything.

SPEAKER_04:

But Pierce is like, don't look at my perfectly chiseled face.

SPEAKER_02:

The science. Yeah, no, I would just be like, whatever that man says, I'm listening to. Where are you sleeping tonight, Harry? So pissed off, Harry packs aggressively, but then he doesn't leave. Uh later, Paul tells Harry they were taking a helicopter to the volcano to take some readings, and I'm sure there won't be a shitty ass pilot around. Uh we learn that Rachel also runs a coffee shop. What? Why? Does mayor also need to run a coffee shop?

SPEAKER_04:

There's no way she makes enough notes to survive as mayor.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm assuming she had the coffee shop, then became mayor. They're like, damn, she's got some good coffee.

SPEAKER_04:

Gotta keep it going.

SPEAKER_02:

Gotta make her mayor now. Honestly, I think that's a good thing. Like But when do you do all your mayor's? Who's running the shop?

SPEAKER_04:

Exactly. The kids.

SPEAKER_02:

People are just like, she's never here. Um uh Harry apologizes for putting her job in jeopardy, and she invites him for some eggplant parmesan. Oh, sorry. If you know what I mean. Yeah, eggplant emoji. Pasta emojis. And then parmesan. I don't think that's how Parmesan works. Well, if it's melted. I guess. Yeah. So Harry and one of his colleagues, Terry, so now it's team Harry and Terry, uh, are up in a helicopter. Helicopter pilot uh makes sure for some reason there is too much nonsense with this fucking helicopter pilot.

SPEAKER_03:

He's so greedy.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm like, who thought of adding any of this in? And I know why, because it's supposed to be satisfying when he dies. Oh, yeah, it kind of is. So um, yeah, the helicopter pilots like, hey, if I have to work during lunch, I get overtime.

SPEAKER_04:

It's like really he was gonna he was gonna take a lunch break while flying a helicopter?

SPEAKER_02:

All right, guys, I gotta go park this thing for an hour.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, he's like, I bet they're asking themselves if he's really the only guy in town that can fly.

SPEAKER_02:

I thought he like worked for them. Like I just assumed like he maybe he does tours. I'm assuming that he's just like an hour, like he just gets hired a contract.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, if you think about like Gallenberg, they have helicopter tours all the time. Maybe one? No. Yeah, me neither. Fuck those guys. I'm scared of helicopters.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, too many people die with them. Um, Terry tells Harry that there is no signs of activity.

SPEAKER_04:

And Pierce is so pissed off about the volcano not doing anything.

SPEAKER_02:

Dang it, this once again, another volcano getting the best of me.

SPEAKER_03:

I'll get you one day.

SPEAKER_02:

Shaking his fist at it. This is like every day people would drive past him. He's just like, you dang volcano. It's like, oh, that's just Harry. He he just loves yelling at the volcano. So later, Harry is having dinner and shows the uh with uh the kids and Rachel. Um, and he shows the kids some magic tricks because he is handsome and charming. Oh yeah, he is. If I was Rachel, I'd be like, what are you doing? Oh, the magic uh the hair and needle trick? Yeah, which is obviously he's like, hey, he's just holding it and he's slyly moving it with his hands, you dumb kids. Hey, spoiler alert, kids are dumb. Damn. I forgot about that. Most kids. So uh Rachel and Harry have wine and talk about her ex. Harry says he has never been married because he moves around chasing volcanoes with attitude. Chasing holes. Uh you know, uh VWA, baby. It's my second favorite rap group next to MWA. Um, and then he tells her about Marianne. Um, so next day, Rachel brings coffee to the team and uh never bring free coffee to people because they'll expect it every time.

SPEAKER_03:

Every single time.

SPEAKER_02:

Though she just seems like a nice person and honestly is just trying to like impress Harry.

SPEAKER_04:

She's like, this is really my only job here as mayor.

SPEAKER_02:

I feel like, yeah, like I actually don't do anything else in this area. I feel like she brought the coffee in and was like, yeah, and then that one coffee guy starts talking to her, and she's like, This was a mistake. This is a terrible thing that I've done here. I thought she's spitting his coffee every day. Put some volcanic ash in it. So they're gonna go to the mountain to take a machine called, well, it's not called an elf. I don't know, but they have uh it's some sort of they call it the spider, and it has a thing called elf on it. Don't know what it stands for. Electronic uh lava foundation. I don't know. Really? Uh no. Wow, no, it's not uh it's this essentially gonna read the volcano. The elf part is just so that NASA NASA can track it, and you know it's from NASA because they say NASA 500 times when talking about it. Umf is something NAF NASA gave to them. Uh uh Terry keeps asking about him and Rachel, and then you get the coffee, coffee, coffee, and it's like, I wish you weren't in the movie.

SPEAKER_04:

So Harry and I had really high hopes for him, too. You've seen them in so many other things.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and he at first when he was asking all the questions about the coffee, I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, he's a coffee enthusiast.

SPEAKER_02:

Sorry, it's it's not funny, but there's an idea that it can be funny.

SPEAKER_04:

He's he's almost whimsical. Yeah. Until he's annoyed. And then he did this thing, and I'm like, you child.

SPEAKER_02:

So with the dynamic duo, Harry and Terry are at the top of the volcano. The machine that they're gonna uh have, this really shitty machine that can't move at all, even on flat ground, they're expecting it to walk down a volcano. Um, so they're gonna put it and it's gonna walk down the volcano, but it's not working right. So Terry's gonna go into the volcano crater crater to kick it.

SPEAKER_04:

He's gonna give it the Fonzi treatment.

SPEAKER_02:

That's all it that's all he does. He kicks things. Uh Terry unhooks himself from a rope and suddenly a quake happens, and Terry is pelted with rocks and has a broken leg. Uh Paul tries to get a chopper to get him, but the pilot wants to renegotiate his rates, and it's like, we'll say that's pretty smart right there, though. It's like, I'd actually like to renegotiate my rates. You're gonna be like, ah, damn it, give him whatever he wants. Do you not have like rescue services? Well, we'll get into that a little later, actually. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_04:

Like the Ranger Station. They should have somebody, right?

SPEAKER_02:

You would think. Apparently there's nobody. It's just one helicopter.

SPEAKER_04:

That's the mayor's job.

SPEAKER_02:

10,000 miles around. Um, yeah, and I still don't understand what the fuck this side story with this pilot is. It's it makes no sense. So Terry and Harry get rescued and it looks dope as hell. I bet he's got a gambling problem. Yeah, he does. It's like, dang, this is actually my third helicopter. For 10,000 years, I've been betting this thing would go off. Um, so Harry is livid since he feels that those quakes were not tectonic and they were magmatic. Um, and he is not okay with Paul not recommending the town to be put on alert, but the entire team says there's no activity of any kind.

SPEAKER_04:

What's the problem with it being on alert though? Like, right?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, yeah, like because they don't because that business guy, Blair's Industries, as soon as he finds out that there's gonna be a hint of potential volcano there, because you know, later on he's like, that's it, I'm out of here. Pulling out. And then honestly, if I was like, oh shit, this thing has activity, I'm out of here. Yeah. Like, that's personally how I'd believe it. Good business decision. Yep. So a week later, they still aren't getting the evidence they need, so now they're want to monitor it at home base. Harry still doesn't believe that the thing is dormant, though. That night they all go to a bar. Harry and Rachel meet up there. Harry walks her home, and Rachel wishes he wasn't leaving. And I'm like, Aww, they this is working. I'm I'm believing this relationship. When at her house, they're about to boink, but her but her damn kids wake up with some water.

SPEAKER_04:

Her kids are so uh observant because the daughter in the beginning, she's like or When she she says something like, What's what's fun? Or she's the kids like, Yeah, not having kids is really great.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

You feel like this mom talks about that quite a bit. I felt bad for it.

SPEAKER_02:

No wonder they want to save the grandma.

SPEAKER_04:

She's the only one that loves the kids.

SPEAKER_02:

Even though it's toxic. Yeah. Like, let's get her. Um, but yeah, so they see the water is brown. Um, but I love it. It's like, it's kind of a weird little almost sex scene because like they walk in and like, I should make some coffee. I really should make some coffee. And he's like, he's like, uh, yeah, you shouldn't own a coffee shop, girl. Um, but you should own dis. That's where they're like, I haven't been with anybody in a country. Yeah, that's what he gives the bicycle line. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. I was too busy typing down what the hell's going on in the scene. Because they're all getting like so it's kind of very believable, and I think that's why it's almost like a little like weird to watch it, because it's very like realistic and awkward. Because it's like they're both like kind of almost like starting to breathe heavy and like are very nervous. And I'm like, You hear like the teapots TV Noah's the volcano in the background. It's like, oh, I'm gonna bust. Um, so fucking killing Jason over here today. Hell yeah. This is all the thing. You're neat, Jason. Oh god. So they discover the town's water supply has been contaminated with sulfur dioxide, and the next morning, um, oh uh, but first, like before the next morning, he goes to Paul. He's like, open up your door, motherfucker. It's like you want any scientific proof. Look at this dude in water. He's like, by God. By God. So then they go the next morning, they see the seismic readings and gas levels rise dramatically. Um, yeah, and it's great. And um it's time for an eruption, baby. Let's go. Finally convinced that the volcano will erupt. And with the National Guard unavailable to the next day, hey, National Guard, giant volcano. Maybe let's not wait.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, you gotta muster the troops.

SPEAKER_02:

Like, no, it's just start sending at least three or four people to help direct traffic.

SPEAKER_04:

They're like, nah, we we're only here one week in a month.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's like sorry, we're breaking up fake protests out here. Can't can't be actually saving people. Try us next week.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Um, so uh Paul gives Harry permission to put the town on alert. Rachel goes on the news to tell them to come to a meeting? Uh how about run? Yeah, hey, get the fuck out. Yeah, it's like it's like I this like this whole situation, first of all, what news station do they have here?

SPEAKER_04:

If everyone's watching the news, just say the thing on the news.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh here's what I don't understand. What news station do they have there?

SPEAKER_04:

It's really popular.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, did she just drive like 500 miles away to go to the nearest news station and get on the news to specifically tell this one town that hey, 5 p.m. we got a meeting, then she's late because she had a drive 500 miles? It's like this town is uh it's pretty fancy if it has a new station.

SPEAKER_04:

Broadcasting is great. We should protect it.

SPEAKER_02:

That's true. I just don't feel like this town has that. Um, and then like with the National Guard not gonna be able to be there to the next day, it's like send some damn helicopters or something, dude. Get somebody there. Nuke that is there not an Air Force base or something nearby? It's the middle of nowhere. They have to have tons of secret bases, right? I have to. I don't know. That was like the part where I was like, what? Why? This is a very specific situation that all this is happening. So Rachel is trying to convince dumbass Ruth to leave the mountain, but she isn't because she's old and knows better than everybody else, apparently. I've lived here uh 70 years. I think we're safe. This is my mountain. It's my mountain. He's well behaved. She's out there in the volcano.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh-uh.

SPEAKER_02:

This is my house, Dante. So uh Rachel has her kids packed while they go to the meeting. Um, so she's just gonna leave her kids there alone. I'm sure they won't do anything stupid. But the kids are gonna be stupid and go and trust your grandma's house.

SPEAKER_04:

I have a feeling that Graham's gonna be trouble when he grows up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, I don't blame the kids though. I mean, sure they I mean everybody like Ruth seems like a great grandma to them, and she lives next to a fucking beautiful ass lake. That's pretty nice. Don't want her to die. Got that lake.

SPEAKER_04:

And Ruffy?

SPEAKER_02:

She got a dog named Ruffy constantly talking about squirrels popping. Um while at the meeting, and before the group can evacuate the town, the eruption begins, and it looks great. It's just the pre-eruption, right? Yeah, it's like uh it's just like letting off a little stain. In the ensuing chaos, like the whole town falling apart, people crashing each other, the free ray c freeway crumbles. That was sweet. Um, Harry and Rachel go to retrieve the children, only to find they've gone to get Ruth, who refuses to leave her home, that bitch. Really don't like grandma. That's why being so mean and calling her that so much. Um, but the destruction of this town fantastic. Yeah, hell yeah. It's all it's all so real looking. It's insane. Like every time they cut to the uh picture of the volcano, I'm like, this looks amazing. CGI could not recreate what they did here.

SPEAKER_04:

It was really cool how they made the effect of once the clouds started billowing out, it went from middle day to like just being dark. Yeah, because of the clouds. Here's the thing.

SPEAKER_02:

This movie this movie might be a little dumb, right? It's a big dumb movie, but I feel like they did their research. I do too. It just feels like I have no idea if they actually did, but compared to volcano, they did their research. Volcano, they're just trying to push over cars to block the lava. Um, which I guess lava we'll learn isn't that uh damaging to cars soon. We'll find out. Um but yeah, just like I because I was thinking, you know, and you brought up 2012, and I'm like, man, that movie looks like poopy because it's all crappy CGI. And I'm like, like I know there's like a some uh visual effects in this, but I'm like, it looks so good. It does look pretty cool. Like that's fantastic, yeah. Snow kind of amazing. That was like the cool thing watching that documentary. Like whenever the you know the plume happens, it's just like there's like white, gray, and then just dark. Yeah. And it's just like insane. It it doesn't look like something Earth could make in the world.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, and like I love amazing when they're in the house with in Ruth's house, and like they don't even notice they're not in there that long, and then the lava is just there. It's like on top of it.

SPEAKER_02:

Then you walk outside and it's like everything's burning, like all the windows got the curtains on. Like, can we not open a window or something so you can check the situation here?

SPEAKER_04:

It was kind of surprising that they had no idea that the whole outside was lit up. Yeah, it's just like wow, you know of fire isn't it?

SPEAKER_02:

Ruth likes it dark in her house, man. So uh we see that the one way out of town is or the one way to the freeway is blocked, so now everybody has to go over this bridge. So Harry decides to drive through a lake.

SPEAKER_04:

That was awesome. But a little nitpick here. He said he's like, we got a snorkel. Okay, great. He knows what it's called, but he never turns it on, apparently. Because when you turn those on, it it's supposed to be gushing water out. It's supposed to be taking water out and spitting it. When he said I have a snorkel, I was like, This is a weird joke. No, the engine has a snorkel.

SPEAKER_02:

Because like the whole time I was like, I did like his truck.

SPEAKER_04:

It was good.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it was great. Um, trucks in this movie, pretty undestruct indestructible, honestly. It's pretty crazy. Um, but I love that like the other cars start doing it. It's so wild. It's panicking. Um, and it kind of reminds me, there's a I think it's like White Noise or something like that. It's uh uh what's his name? Uh Noah Bomback. It's like the Adam Driver movie that was on Netflix a while ago. Uh they have like a similar scene to this and it's hilarious. Um but this is also equally hilarious to see.

SPEAKER_04:

I started watching 65 yesterday and we didn't get through though.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, the uh dinosaur movie that randomly came out, that Adam Driver, and it's like, when did this come out? Um but yeah, and then like Harry's getting stuck. There's a lot of getting stuck in uh nature here. Um luckily one of the cars uh who decided that, yeah, my car could make it through a river, uh, knocks into him and he uh loosens him and they get out.

SPEAKER_04:

Fuck those guys though, right?

SPEAKER_02:

It's like we don't know why we tried this. We were in a Cadillac.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't have the people in the car were like, is that fucking Pierce Bros?

SPEAKER_02:

We should go with him.

SPEAKER_04:

He's got a plot armor on the spot.

SPEAKER_02:

So we see the asshole pilot and all the businessmen and the one like douchebag from the city council uh try to fly off in a helicopter, but they die because of Ash. And uh, you know, and of course, because the they're the main characters, it almost hits Rachel and Harry. It's like, wow, all places to land, you know, landed there. And like I can't explain how dope all the destruction is looking. I know I love destruction. I think that's why we like these movies. Oh, yeah, for sure. That's why I think these older ones are a little bit special because they also still kind of have that realistic feeling to them, even though they're very stupid. Um, and it's probably why uh one of the four movies that we're gonna cover uh after volcano is I'm gonna have problems with it. Um so the kids reach Ruth and the dog runs away because you know the dog had the right idea. Uh it's like, thank god the kids are here. This old lady's been keeping me captive in this building. I've been trying to run away from this volcano for ages. Uh they reach uh and then Harry and Rachel, they reach Ruth. Yep, go ahead.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, sorry. Uh no, Ruffy. I just gotta put it. Ruffy. I have captions on while watching this.

SPEAKER_02:

And you have a cat or a dog named Muffy?

SPEAKER_04:

Muffy is my dog. Are they related to Ruth? I was like, Muffy, you watching this? Yeah. Don't you fucking do that? But no, they spelled Ruffy's name instead of like, how would you spell Ruffy? I would spell it R-U-R-U-F-F-Y. It's rough, like the texture. And then why? R-U-R-O-U-G-H-Y.

SPEAKER_02:

I actually think now that makes me think volcanoes a better man. That's annoying. That's very frustrating.

SPEAKER_04:

Like, fuck you, Ruth.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like who wrote this dead screenplay and called him Ruffy. I bet they're like typing it out. Uh they typed out, all right, what's the dog's name? Oh, Ruffy. R-U-F-F-Y. Wait a second. I have a hilarious idea. R-U-G-H-Y. Turns it is like, hey director, do you like this? By God, you're a genius. Oh, man. Hell yeah. So, um, yeah, so they reach Ruth and the children, and they go inside. Like Rachel hugs the children, and she looks over at the grandma. It's like, I'm so mad at you. And then they walk inside and they're like hugging, and like everybody's looking at Ruth. It's like, what? So you think this is all my fault? Yeah!

SPEAKER_04:

What are you talking about? You can't have a conversation.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like this is this is nothing but your fault. I didn't tell that volcano to go off.

SPEAKER_04:

It's like we told me.

SPEAKER_02:

Don't look at me like it's all my fault. I'd have hit her right then. She'd be like, you cut. It's like, you know what? Like, actually, we drove her to kill you. We were gonna save you and the children, but now we're so pissed we're just gonna kill you like you. Um, Jesus. So yeah, and then they're like just kind of chit-chatting, it's like, hey, we gotta get ready to go. And then like grandma's just like, uh, here's this picture I looked, and it's like, backhand the shit out.

SPEAKER_04:

Just eat it.

SPEAKER_02:

If there is just any point that you should be hitting an old person, it is now. Um, and then like everything seems normal, and then just a shit ton of lava flows into the house. They run outside, whole forest is on fire, lava everywhere, and it destroys all the vehicles, and they're all like, what are we gonna do?

SPEAKER_01:

So get in the boat. Damn it, I gotta sorry, I almost burped.

SPEAKER_02:

Um let me catch my breath. And then the best scene of the movie happens. It's my favorite scene coming up when they get in the boat. It was really good. It was fucking fantastic. No, uh, let's pretend that didn't happen. Because I was like, what are we doing here? I mean, I get it, but I'm like, these kids are a little too old to be able to do that. The pillar on the crystal. Like, oh, you have it. So you have it. If we took that out in the row the row boat thing, it would have been a perfect scene. Um, but yeah, they can't go back to the via road. It's been destroyed because of the quakes and all the landslides and all the everything. So the five flee across the lake in a motorboat. They get in, they're like, ah, we're gonna do it. We're safe. And then they're like, huh, this is weird. All the fish are dead.

SPEAKER_04:

All the fish are dead, and the boat's on fire.

SPEAKER_02:

And then Pierce is like, oh, yes, this must be volcanic acid or volcanic stuff turning the water to the acid. And you're like, all right. And the water's coming into the boat, and it's like, all right, everybody, put your feet up. And he's like, Ruth, fucking get your feet up. You cannot die. Um, so yeah, and it's just as great. Yes, like, this will help us get there faster.

SPEAKER_00:

It's like, ah!

SPEAKER_02:

It's like this is what you want to do.

SPEAKER_05:

They're melting.

SPEAKER_02:

The dogs is barking on the other side.

SPEAKER_00:

You deserve it.

SPEAKER_02:

Um, but I don't know. And then so, like, yeah, they're getting over it, getting over to it, and it's like, oh, I guess it's like a sulfur-rich gases that are caught from the volcano, causing the water to become uh sulfuric acid acidic. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, hell yeah, man.

SPEAKER_02:

So yeah, then they start singing row.

SPEAKER_04:

When you go to Yellowstone, don't get in the hot springs. Your body, your skin will fall off because of this reason.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and that's why I got no skin. Um, and you just cut your hair. Yeah, the hairstylist got a little crazy. Um, but yeah, and then all of a sudden, like they're going, they're like, All right, we're gonna make it, we're gonna make it kind of see the other side, and then like the motor stops working because the propellers are dead. Um, and then it's like shit. Pierce Marlon takes off his shirt and it's like, time for a goddamn man. Don't they have a paddle? Nope, they should have.

SPEAKER_04:

No, but no, the mayor, well, Mayor Wando, Cal Rivian, grabs the paddle and starts paddling on the other side. Are you maybe they used it and it just disintegrates? It should have, right? And his hand definitely should have.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's definitely well he had a jacket on that didn't. But he's like, I we need a man. So he starts paddling with his hand, and they're so close. They would have probably made it. But Ruth's like, I have an idea. Jumps out and just slowly starts walking the same speed the boat's going, essentially. I mean, is honestly kind of satisfying.

SPEAKER_04:

She's supposed to say she kind of redeemed herself a little bit, right?

SPEAKER_02:

She didn't. They would have made it in time. Like, even whenever, like, because every time they cut to the boat, I'm like, it's still mostly above water here. I mean, I guess it was like a second away or whatever. But um, yeah, and then she jumps out and she like pulls it towards it, and she's running. It's like, ah, and I'm like, but when I was watching it, I was just laughing. I was like, yes. Um, and then uh, so yeah, they uh they go and like she's like lays next to the ground and she's got these severe chemical burns. I'm really upset though, Jason. Really upset that they didn't like, oh man, her legs, they didn't pan down as just skills.

SPEAKER_04:

Yes, I know that's exactly what I was hoping for.

SPEAKER_02:

Like, am I gonna make it? And they're like, Yeah, uh, we'll be right back. Uh but yeah, I guess she like lives through the night and like Pierce Spralsman's carrying her, and she's like, please stop carrying me. And it's like they lay her down. It's like, what are you talking about walking? Like and then like the kid's like, here, take this lucky stone or whatever, and she's like, nah, you keep it. And it's just like, we can't fucking do anything for you, you just won't accept any help at all, will you? But then in the morning, then she dies with the family and Harry at her side. But no, I I really do love that bow scene. It was really great. That was cool. Um, it's like, I don't know, especially watching it the first time, like, you know, I was just like, oh Jesus.

SPEAKER_04:

But is it as good as the lava and the truck? Which we're coming up to right now.

SPEAKER_02:

So, uh, but first the National Guard finally arrives, and then like the sheriff's just like telling them what to do, and it's just like, I think they kind of should take charge at this point, guy. But uh, probably not because they took so long to get there, you know. They probably was like, we actually got to take a lunch before we get started.

SPEAKER_03:

Gotta renegotiate.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. So the heat from the volcano starts melting, melting like the glaciers and ice at the peak, forming a flood of debris which collapses a dam on the river leading into town. That was badass. During a lull in the eruption, Harry and the uh Wandos take a ranger's truck and set off back to town where the National Guard is helping evacuate the town. Yes, dude. Like, I really want to know how they made that look so good. Like the like all the trees and like the gray water. It was like, this looks realistic as shit.

SPEAKER_04:

So did the dam didn't break. It was just, was it did it break? Or was it just going over? Yeah, that was really cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, no, I'm sure nothing bad happens after that. So, uh speaking of a bridge over the river mills. I have not. I called it quits after frozen one. I was like, they're not gonna make a better song. It's a fucking badass dam breaking scene. Ooh. Could she not just uh freeze the ice or water?

SPEAKER_04:

No, well she does sort of she's she saves it, she does her magic and makes a big wall of ice that blocks the water from destroying the town.

SPEAKER_02:

There's a guy who's just like, oh shit, I got a beer in his hand. Really needed that ice thing so far. Um, so yeah, uh, and so we see it um the USGS team trying to leave and they're all gonna make it except uh, oh no, Paul's stuck in his giant Jeep. And he's trying to like make the car go over. I'm like, dude, get out and run. They're all yelling at him. Yeah, and they're all like, get out of here. I know that was sad. And then Paul's like at the end, he's like, his damn, this actor is really good. He like fucking crushed it. Um, and it was a rad death. And he's just kind of holding on, and he just sees like the thing goes, and he's just like, peace. And then right before we get some water, we get a very small and short Wilhelm scream. Uh both times I've laughed out loud. What do you what's a Wilhelm scream? I'm like, it was a very emotional scene. You don't add it there, you just let them die normally. You do that in non-serious or like with side characters on a character you kind of like a little bit, and it's like a serious death. Because then it goes, and then you cut it's like it's like the what that mayor dean or whatever that guy is. But then it cuts to the other people, and they're like, they're all like sad, and I'm like laughing. And I was like, Why'd you add that yo?

SPEAKER_04:

That was a cool like the way it washed the bridge out. You see like the house coming down the the river. It's so great.

SPEAKER_02:

It looks so amazing. I'm like, God, we really don't make good movies.

SPEAKER_04:

I thought he was gonna be able to jump it, like the humbug.

SPEAKER_02:

That's what I did not understand. Just jump, dude. At least take your chance. Don't just stand there and be like, oh.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, no, no, no, like the cars. Was just like going and like ramping it.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. His was just, I think it was just because of the van.

SPEAKER_04:

Like BW bus or something.

SPEAKER_02:

It's just like, man, you should have got out a long time ago and started running, bro.

SPEAKER_04:

Or just rode with the other guy.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. Alright, bro. Here's your favorite part. Meanwhile, Harry and the family are forced to drive across a lava flow in their path.

SPEAKER_04:

Um, don't you think as a geologist, you'd be like, There's no way I'll be able to drive across that. My tires will melt.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, and Rachel's like, will it be able to make it? It's like, we'll find out. He's like, I don't know. You don't think there's any other way down this mountain? It's like, and then they start doing it and he gets stuck, and they're like, he's reversing and forwarding, and I'm like, I've all been on fire. How are these tires not disintegrated?

SPEAKER_04:

And then we cut to later and they still have tired rubber on them. And they still have time to save the dog. I love that part.

SPEAKER_02:

I I've never been more like, why are we saving a dog? Not that we try. Not that like they shouldn't go and save the dog if they have a chance. Like, yeah, I would have done this. I'd be like, all right, well, if we can drive next to this, it's jumping in. But why in the world in the script did they add this? We didn't need it. That dog, we can just assume that dog made it out alive. We didn't need it.

SPEAKER_04:

The dogs was we thought the dog was smarter than this.

SPEAKER_02:

It's just like, I'm just assuming that they're like, ah, this uh people will love this. Let's add them saving a dog. I'm just like, how'd that dog get there?

SPEAKER_04:

No, he should have been cooked already. Yeah. Be around all that lava. Yeah. I do love the smug look on Pierce's face as he gets the when they save the dog, and he's like, God damn, I'm good.

SPEAKER_02:

Y'all should watch my other movies. I do a lot of cool things as well. It was just uh it was a just like this whole scene was a wild choice. It's like either save the dog and don't drive through lava, or drive through lava and don't have a dog to stay.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Like two ridiculous things smashed together. It's like, what a I don't know. Just when he got I he shouldn't have got stuck in the lava. I know it adds the tension, but I'm like, there was plenty enough. No. Now I'm like, is lava not that hot?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, lava hot. It would have burned them all to death.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, like they should all be in there just like taking like their shirts off. It's like it's really hot in here now.

SPEAKER_04:

Um but yeah, they're still driving on the tires. Yeah, they all the way through town. They're they should be on rims at least. But like all I can say is we don't make trucks like we used to. Right.

SPEAKER_02:

But I mean, like for real, like all of our if any like truck or car now like was in lava, like it'd shut down and all like all the like computer systems would be fried, and you're just like, oh well, you're stuck here now.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, man, it'd blow up like a marshmallow in a microwave.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's the exact thing I was thinking. Well melt. All right. So uh when they arrive back into the deserted town, they find all the escape routes gone while retrieving a distress radio beacon. That's the elf. Um, Harry learns the volcano is due for a more violent second eruption because it goes into a building and says, Run, bitch, run. It's like I don't know why they all I guess it's like they all watch scary movie and they're just like, okay, we'll have that as our bit. All right, well, I took that too far. This is 94, right? Yeah. Seven. I don't think I don't think I I don't think it was out yet. Scary movie. Um and this has the great line, it's like it took eight years to get this town on its feet. Now look at it. That was what I was gonna that's the one I was gonna do at the beginning, but I couldn't find it. So um it was kind of like a really nice little line delivery by Linda Hamilton, who's this a great actor's actress, and she's completely wasted and pointless character in Stranger Things. Yeah. But wait, who was she in Stranger Things? She was uh the military leader, Linda. Yeah, that's her. Wow.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

All right. Uh can't talk about Stranger Things. Uh because spoilers, even though if you're gonna watch it, you watched it. So as he races for the town's abandoned mine, because Chekhov's mind, you introduce a mine in the first act, it has to be driven into the second act.

SPEAKER_04:

It is badass to drive into a mine. Oh no, it was sick.

SPEAKER_02:

And I thought it was a really smart idea. Don't know if the mine would not completely collapse in general.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, with all the earthquakes and the yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

This is the only thing not hit by an earthquake.

SPEAKER_04:

And you think that's exactly where lava would go.

SPEAKER_02:

And is it like obviously that mine or volcanoes like, I know where they store the porn. Take me to the porn mine. Um, but yeah, they drive the racing to the abandoned mine, the volcano explodes and it looks rad as hell as he barely makes it to the mine before the town is overrun and destroyed by uh pyroclastic cloud flows. The USGS team watching the eruption from afar, presume Harry's dead. It's like, damn it, Harry. You were the best of all of us. That's not what he said. Who's gonna play James Bond now? So Harry leads the wandos to Graham's former clubhouse in the mine. Wandos only to realize he left the beacon in the truck. It's like, dang it. When he goes back for it, the mine collapses, nearly crushing the truck and trapping him aside. And now he's got a really badly broken bone, like protruding bone. Uh that's awesome. Fucking into it was rough, Jason. I know you didn't see it, but uh I'll have to go back and finish it. When watching it, I was like, for the first time, I was like, whoa! And um Harry eventually manages to activate the beacon after much difficulty. Does it play Christmas music? No, it should have though. No, but so since you didn't watch it, so yeah, he's like the truck is collapsing in on him, right? He can't move at all. So, and he's just like banging a rock on it, and it's just like ha. He likes rocks and he's hitting a rock and it it worked for him. Um, and so like now he's just like stuck in this tight thing, and this thing is like beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. So two days later, Jason, this man is stuck in a truck with a the same beep over and over and over. All he's got is a flashlight, probably dead by now. So he's stuck, crushed to death, bone out of leg, beeping, constant beeping sound for two days. No water, no food. Tell me how you don't go fucking insane. Yeah, you're not in you're a different person after that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_02:

You're like, I hate beeps. No longer if I ever hear a fire alarm, I'm out.

SPEAKER_04:

Those are already pretty bad.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, but like watching this scene, I was like, man, this scene is actually this is a terrifying movie. It's a pretty terrifying movie. Who thought? Who would have thought?

SPEAKER_04:

So, what happened to the kid, like to the wandos?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, uh, I'm not done yet. So a few days later, Terry uh notices there's a beacon has been activated on like one of his little dispatch systems. Because he's just like walks in and he's like, How long has that been beeping? He's like, or blinking. He's like, for a couple days, and he's like, Harry, you son of a or no, no, he's like, Thank you, NASA. Something they've said like a thousand. They'd love to bring up. You don't think that like they know Molly scientists didn't see this blinking light for two days, be like, hmm. Maybe we should have done something about it. If I was Harry, I'd be like, what the fuck took so long, guys?

SPEAKER_04:

Sorry, we had coffee guy in charge of the beep.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he's like too busy running around in circles for the coffee. Um, but yeah, so the USGS, they uh dispatch some people and some rescue teams, they get Harry out, and then like they're all like, NASA did it, bro. Seriously, there's way too much NASA talk at the end of this. NASA did it? Yeah, because that's to who made it. NASA didn't do shit. They made the elf device, they made the beacon. Yeah. So, and they're he's just like, so they're all like, Yeah, you made it, they made it, it's so great. Don't you love NASA? And he's like, the family's in there. So y'all should really start trying to get them out. And he's like, Oh shit, they've been there too? Yeah, they're like in his like little porn hub. Y'all see what I did there? But wait, I don't know how to do the porn hub noise. We really need to get some selling. I know, right? Um but yeah, and then they all get airlifted by a helicopter. Uh better pilot this time, hopefully. And as the credits roll, the camera pans over to the obliterated town before turning to the volcano. That is like, I don't know what they call it, but it's like, you know, the top's been blown off. So it's it's more of a mountain instead of volcano now. The end. That stonk dice peak baby. So Jason, what's the point of the movie?

SPEAKER_04:

Listen to the scientist when he says things are bad.

SPEAKER_02:

Nice, because I put scientific pre prediction versus political inaction.

SPEAKER_04:

At least, you know, there's no there's no problem with making everyone aware of what's happening.

SPEAKER_02:

All right. So I knew we're probably gonna get into this, right? Um here's the thing. I'm kind of with Paul in this situation. It's like, Harry, you saw really hot hot springs, some dead squirrels, and a burnt a couple of burnt up trees.

SPEAKER_04:

Two dead bodies.

SPEAKER_02:

We maybe let's just let's just hold on a bit. All right, let's get some actual data here and then we'll make a decision.

SPEAKER_04:

Because he's a little hot from his girlfriend.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, he's still, yeah, I mean, you know, he's just got a vendetta towards his wife. Um but yeah, so uh so like I get them like not believing it, but then there's I don't know, there's a certain point where they just wait a little too long, you know? Yeah. But I mean, like, I guess if they didn't have like the accurate data, like what can you do? Right. Yeah, that is true. A little murky. Um but then also we have the hindsight of COVID-19 and nobody believing anything and anybody about that. And kind of this movie uh kind of hits on a few of those points of how like people are stubborn and won't do what you should do in certain situations because uh I don't know. We're all fucking idiots like Ruth. Like when I saw Ruth, I was just like, she would have gotten COVID and died. She would have. She's like, I ain't going anywhere without a man. She'd just been like, you know what? I'm actually going to town because I can't. I'm actually just gonna stay in town the whole time. Um but yeah. So let us know what the point is that you guys think. Um I feel like we uh did a pretty good one. Listen to the handsome guy. That's the point. Yeah. If Pierce Brosman tells you to do something, no matter what, do it. So we're gonna hit our next category the good, the bad, the ugly, the fine. It's where we discuss the good of the film, something we liked, the bad, something we didn't like, the ugly, something that didn't age well, the fine, something that did age well. For the good, I put Pierce freaking Brosman.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, he was great. He had some really crappy lines, I thought, sometimes. Oh yeah, the movie's horribly written. Yeah, well, it's not horribly written, but it's just like a few duds in there. Yeah. But yeah, he was amazing.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he's it's wild, man. Just I mean, he just was born that way. Like, how do you how can you just be born so charming? I don't know. British? That's uh that's all it is. He's just British. It pisses me off. Um, is that what your good was too? Yeah, yeah. He was great. Um also I just fucking love a volcano. Oh, yeah, for real. I mean, dude, well, how we not have more of these movies. We should be making volcano movies every year. Put them in different cities, different countries, whatever we gotta do. Pop it up all over the place. Like now after we're doing this podcast, there's so many times where I was like, why can't I be a director?

SPEAKER_04:

Then eventually you just have like, we got a volcano, but it's not doing anything. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

What an intense movie. Wait, no. Ah the climax of the movie, they die of boredom.

SPEAKER_04:

So does everyone else.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. So um, for the bat, I put, where the lava at?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. There's only a little lava.

SPEAKER_02:

We need more lava. Plenty of water. Movie filthy with water. Movie liquid with liquid.

SPEAKER_04:

But I kind of see what they're doing, you know. Because those are the first signs of an eruption are is gonna be shit like water. Uh not apparently to volcano uh volcano.

SPEAKER_02:

Lava is the star of the show. We only got lava. We're in California, there is no water here. No, but I think it's all that brown water. Like I get I get why there isn't. They're like being like, I guess, true to what volcanoes are. I don't know. Like there's like a the first eruption isn't like the actual eruption. It was just like earthquakes and then the lava trickled out a little bit. Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_04:

It was a little big bust. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Jeez, like after you go a week, you know what I mean? Get your mind out of the volcano gutter. Every single female listener is like, yeah, I've had a fuck enough today.

SPEAKER_03:

Wait, we got those?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh yeah, I guess like, well, according to some, like mm I think most of our listeners are actually female. Nice. It's probably our Pierce Brosman-ass voices. Not really.

SPEAKER_04:

Um, what you got for the bat? Anything? So in the very beginning. Yes. During the destruction, there's like fucking hot rocks coming down. Yeah. They're definitely just pieces of styrofoam on fire.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

And like that was kind of bad.

SPEAKER_02:

I thought you were gonna be like, damn, that horse at the beginning didn't die. Oh, the horse. There was a horse didn't get hit by lava. Or it's too bad.

SPEAKER_04:

It's too bad that Pierce that's the bad. Pierce didn't ride a horse to save anybody. Uh honestly, if it did that sacrifice the horse.

SPEAKER_02:

It'd be more believable than it just the horse riding through lava to pull in the fucking truck.

SPEAKER_04:

Uh just kidding. Uh but then the hoofs turn the glue and it gets stuck.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

All right. Um, so for the ugly, I put Ruth is how most people would probably act in this situation. Oh shit, man. Yeah. But most people would be like, ah, what'd that fucking scientist say? All they know is beeps and boops on their computers.

SPEAKER_04:

I love this. I love this person.

SPEAKER_02:

I know volcanoes because I stare at it.

SPEAKER_04:

Ain't gonna do shit.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. That volcano come onto my property, I'll show it what you hear me? You stay up there. Calling the cops. That lava's on my property. Yeah, but this is how most people would act, and we know it is fact at this point. Uh I said uh I thought I had another ugly, but I can't remember it now.

SPEAKER_04:

Money magazine's gonna have to find a new town.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, uh, that's the other ugly uh name room magazine someday.

SPEAKER_04:

No, I mean, anything uh nothing really ugly, I guess.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, it's actually uh for like a movie in the 90s, it's not too uh for a 90s movie. Yeah, there's nothing like too super offensive.

SPEAKER_04:

And for the my fine, dude, there 90s hair was so good. So full-bodied poor Linda Hamilton. Middle parted and like uh loved it. Yeah, everybody looks like they got a wig.

SPEAKER_02:

I loved it so much. My find was miniatures. I love miniatures. Oh, like oh, the destruction. Never do CGI again. I repeat, no more CGI, only miniatures from now on. Thank you.

SPEAKER_04:

I like that because they did it, they kicked ass in this one.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, like also, disaster movies don't have to be two and a half hours long. No, looking at you, Armageddon. And 2012. 2012. I I think uh the day after tomorrow.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that was a good one. Everything freezes. I mean, it was a bad movie. I have an idea, Jason.

SPEAKER_02:

Let's go to my double feature. The day after tomorrow. It's the only one I could think of that I actually remember kind of liking it.

SPEAKER_04:

Mine's gotta be 2012, though. Yeah, Woody Harrelson is such a crazy person.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he's like the best part of that whole movie.

SPEAKER_04:

When everything's blowing up, he's setting up there like, yeah, I was right. Damn.

SPEAKER_02:

Actually, I wonder if that's on anything. I might put it on. This would be fun. By the time I get done editing this podcast, finally stuff will start happening. Um, but yeah, mine is day after tomorrow. It's 2012. Fuck yeah, man. A lot of these shit. God, I cannot. So this one this was a pretty fun episode. It's great. The movie uh I enjoyed. Um, now it's time for next week, which will be Volcano. Yes. Ooh. I am going to not be as positive about Volcano as I have been about Dante's Peak. Can't wait. This is gonna be fun. So I really hope like volcanoes are like your favorite movie.

SPEAKER_04:

I need to get a box of tissues so that this just the He's erupted everywhere in tears of laughter because this is amazing. Oh man, I love it so much.

SPEAKER_02:

One of the characters in Volcanoes, it's like this volcano, God, it's so much like Armageddon, just like the way it's written and stuff. It's ridiculous. Steve Bushimi's in there, like shooting the lava.

unknown:

God.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, and was it? Wow. Wow, La Brea. I drive past it all the time. I didn't know. I didn't know it actually erupt. Wow.

SPEAKER_04:

That was great.

SPEAKER_02:

I uh have a problem with doing that all the time. Um yeah, join us next week for volcanoes. It's gonna be really fun. And I do have nice things to say about it because it does kind of it does a little bit of what this movie didn't do, but it's just more lava.

SPEAKER_04:

It's just it's just like people just You think they call Dante's pig and they're like, hey, you guys doing lava? They're like, nah. No, it's like shit.

SPEAKER_02:

It's like y'all got any what are y'all doing? Like a lot of water. It's like, okay, so we're gonna set ours in California then. They can't even run water there. Never rains. All right. I feel like we gotta end this. It's on we're on a high note here. Well, I don't think I got any more better, better jokes.

SPEAKER_03:

I can't wait.

SPEAKER_02:
