Live cattle futures closed the Friday session by making up most of Thursday’s losses. Feeder cattle futures were $2.47 to $2.80 higher. The CME feeder cattle index was down 62 cents on January 24 at $147.06. Wholesale boxed beef values were higher on Friday afternoon. Choice boxes were up 6 cents at $206.83, with Select boxes 51 cents higher at $201.83. US beef export sales last week totaled 28,000 MT, with shipments at 17,000 MT. Cash trades late Friday afternoon were reported at $126, $4 higher than last week.
