You’ve been running the race of life for a long time and it’s easy to only focus on the next version of you, the “better” you, the more confident you. We slow that down and do something most of us skip: we look back and give real credit to the person who got us here. The past you who doubted, failed, cried, tried again, and still showed up is not dead weight. That version of you is your MVP.

We talk about the messy truth of growth: life is not choreographed, and progress is not always pretty. Heartbreak, missed shots, and days when the scoreboard feels stacked can leave scars, but those scars also become skills. Resilience, patience, grit, and even the ability to laugh at yourself are tools you earned. When self doubt creeps in, we lean on your track record and treat it like a playbook: you’ve faced hard things before, and you can do it again.

Then we zoom out. Your personal development does not stay contained. When you honor your evolution and cheer for yourself out loud, you give other people permission to stop sitting on the bench and take a shot at their dream too. We also name the awkward part: outgrowing roles, spaces, and old identities can feel scary, but it’s necessary, like a bloom breaking open.

If you need a mindset reset that feels like a pep talk and a plan, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a boost, and leave a review with the line you’re taking into your day.

Running The Race Of Life

SPEAKER_01

You've been running the race of life, tackling obstacles, and growing in ways you barely even notice. The person you used to be deserves a massive cheer, because they played the groundwork for the incredible person you're becoming today.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to today's episode of Unedited You by My Coach. Here's your motivational host, Ray.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

Cheer For Your Past Self

SPEAKER_01

You're standing on the sidelines of your own life. Pum-pums in hand, ready to cheer your heart out. But before you start shouting about the person you're becoming, take a moment. Look back at the version of you who first stepped onto this field. The one who's already fought through storms, taken on challenges, and put in the work to even get you here. Because to truly celebrate where you're headed, you've got to honor where you've been. That person, flaws and all, set the stage for your victory dance. Let's be honest, life isn't a neatly choreographed halftime show. It's more like a game full of unexpected fumbles, surprise wins, and moments you swore you were completely unprepared for. But here's the thing: you were never as unprepared as you thought. The version of you back then, the one who doubted, failed, and might have cried under the pressure, they showed up anyway. They didn't always score. Sometimes they barely stayed in the game. But they're your MVP. The one who passed the ball forward so you could keep playing. That deserves

Scars Become Skills

SPEAKER_01

a standing ovation. Think about the tough challenges you faced. Real ones. The kind that don't just test your strength, but they test your faith in yourself. Maybe it was a heartbreak, a missed opportunity, or a moment where the scoreboard seemed stacked against you. Do you remember how hard it was to get back up? Because you did get back up. It wasn't easy. Sometimes it wasn't even pretty. But that past version of you showed grit. And grit is what builds champions. They deserve your gratitude, not your criticism. And here's the best plot twist. The scars from those challenges didn't break you. They taught you skills you didn't even realize you were going to need. Like resilience or patience. Or the ability to laugh at yourself when things go hilariously wrong. Every bruise, stumble, and wrong turn has given you tools to step into who you're becoming now. That person you used to be may have felt small, but they were laying the foundation for something much bigger. Something that's still unfolding. That's the power of becoming.

Your Growth Spreads To Others

SPEAKER_01

But let's not stop there. The way you honor your own evolution isn't just about you. It has this beautiful effect. When you embrace your growth and cheer loudly for yourself, you give others permission to do the same. Think about it. When someone sees you owning your past and becoming your future, doesn't it make them want to lace up their sneakers and get into the game? Your bravery to grow can inspire someone else to stop sitting on the bench and take a shot at the dream too. Growth isn't just personal, it's contagious.

Outgrowing Is Necessary

SPEAKER_01

Now, let's talk about who you're becoming. Sometimes becoming this next version of yourself can feel awkward. Maybe you're unsure if you're really doing life right, or if it's okay to outgrow the roles and spaces you used to fit into. Let me remind you of something. Outgrowing isn't bad, it's necessary. Nobody expects a butterfly to stay in the cocoon forever. No one boos a flower for bursting into a bloom. The same goes for you. Start cheering like your life depends on it. Because it does. Sure, there might be days that make you question all of it, days when you wonder if you're truly making progress or just running around in circles. That's normal. It's all part of the journey. But I want you to remember, your past self has carried you through every single one of your worst days up to this point. That's a track record of resilience a mile long. So when self-doubt creeps in, look back for a second and say, I faced the improbable before, and I've got the playbook to do it again. And hey, it's okay to make mistakes while you're becoming this new version of yourself. The best cheerleaders aren't screaming for perfection, they're hyping up effort, no matter how messy it looks. Miss the mark today, shake it off. Took a wrong turn, learn from it. The crowd will still be cheering because progress is way more fun to watch than perfection will ever be. Keep going.

Let Future You Say Keep Going

SPEAKER_01

And let's get a little bold here. Imagine if your future self could walk onto the field of your life right now, dressed in your victories, waving your dreams like a banner. What would they say to you? I'll bet they wouldn't criticize your missteps or roll their eyes at how long it's taking. They'd probably scream, keep going. You're so much closer than you think. That's the energy you need to bring to the table for yourself. Not just in the good moments, but in the tough ones too.

Your Anthem And Final Charge

SPEAKER_01

So here's where we wrap this up with something simple yet powerful. Remember who you were. Not to dwell in the past, but to draw strength from it. Picture that younger version of yourself handing off the baton, trusting you to take the next lap. Are you going to slow down? Or are you going to run like your heart's on fire? Because believe it or not, the person you're becoming is absolutely worth the effort. It's worth every stumble, every doubt, and every moment of choosing to keep moving. So stand tall today and shout this over your life. I will honor where I've been because it's the reason I can celebrate who I am becoming. That's your cheer. That's your anthem. Now go take on this day with the faith of someone who knows they've already won so many battles and has plenty of wins still ahead. You've got this. Pom-pom's in the air, my friend, and let the crowd go wow. And as always, stay real.
