#1 Tony Abbott: Russia, The Voice and Climate Change

Francis Tamer Episode 1

Tony Abott is Australia’s 28th Prime Minister, serving from 2013-2015.

Abbott's political career was anything but straightforward. From serving as a journalist and later the executive director for Australians for Constitutional Monarchy, he made his way into the Australian Parliament in 1994, representing the seat of Warringah for the Liberal Party.

His dedication and tenacity saw him swiftly climb the political ladder, ultimately being sworn in as Australia's 28th Prime Minister in 2013. Under his leadership, Australia repealed the carbon tax, established a royal commission into trade union governance and corruption, and launched a controversial but effective policy to stop illegal maritime arrivals, among many other initiatives.

Yet, his tenure wasn't without controversy, given his strong stance on climate change, immigration, and indigenous issues. His policies often polarised public opinion, making him one of the most debated Australian leaders of recent times.

We chat to Tony about a number of current issues including Russia, The Voice referendum and Climate change.
