Sci-Fi Throwdown
Welcome to Sci-Fi Throwdown! At one time, the genre of science fiction was not considered serious literature, the stuff of mostly pulp magazines and mere entertainment. Readers of the genre will know this has not been the case for quite some time, and that there has been a surge in careful and critical analysis of science fiction developing for decades. As former philosophy students now involved in the corporate world, we hope to contribute to this trend by interpreting and analyzing work within the genre.

In this episode, we discuss John Wyndham's book The Chrysalids. The Chrysalids was published in 1955, and tells the story of a group of teenagers in a post-apocalyptic world who are ostracized from their community for being telepaths. Social engineering, eugenics, and some surprisingly engaging thoughts on the nature of the human form make this coming-of-age novel a very fun read!
