Welcome to another episode of our EBC Prayer Podcast. God is a good God, and every day we should praise him in our prayers. Even when the day is not perfect, we don't have to give up on God.
As mentioned earlier, our prayers throughout the year will be taken from the 66 books of the Bible. We begin in Genesis, and we will conclude in the book of Revelation.
Today, we are diving into the book of Isaiah, and our scripture will be taken from Isaiah 1:16-17. And it read, “Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
The Lord is encouraging us to take a moment to cleanse ourselves thoroughly and strive for purity within. Remove the sinful actions that have distanced us from righteousness; turn away from wrongdoing. Make it our mission to understand and practice what is right; actively pursue justice for all. Stand up for those who are oppressed, and advocate for what is good.
As we pray, let our actions reflect a promise to justice and care for the weak. Let us let go of everything that's not clean, every thought, every action, every desire, and cleave to God, because all of our hope is found in him.
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Righteous God and Redeemer, we come before you with humble hearts, grateful for another moment to pray.
Lord, thank you for the gift of prayer. It is a privilege to lift our voices and hearts to you, and we do so with reverence and worship. You are inviting us to draw near to you, for when we call on your name, you hear us.
Father, you are reminding us to “Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
Lord, help us not to take your words for granted. Help us to recognize our shortcomings, the times when we fall short, when we pursue our own way instead of yours. Help us to confess before you every hidden sin, every moment when pride, selfishness, or fear has guided our hearts. O lord, wash us clean, purify us, and renew a steadfast spirit within us.
Father, we are praying not only for forgiveness but also for transformation. Cleanse us from every form of unrighteousness and help us to be holy in our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Let the way we live be a reflection of your love. Let others see your light shining through us, and give their live to you before it is too late.
Father, you are a God of justice and mercy. You call us not only to believe in you but also to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you. Help us to stand strong in our commitment to what is right. In a world where settlement and ease often take the place of conviction, grant us the courage to choose righteousness over comfort, truth over deception, and love over pride. Help us not to remain silent in the face of wrong, strengthen us to speak with boldness, in gentleness and compassion, always pointing others back to you.
Lord, ignite within us a deeper compassion for those who are hurting and teach us how to truly pray and to open our eyes to the needs of others. Give us the strength to pray earnestly for the oppressed and those who are mourning the loss of love or a family member.
Lord, remember the orphans and widows, those who lack protection, provision, and comfort. you are the Father to the fatherless and the Defender of widows. Place within our hearts a burden to care for those who are burdened as you care for us. Help us to provide, to uplift, and to remember that true religion, is to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep ourselves from being corrupted by the world. May we be faithful in living out your calling.
Lord, where there is oppression, where there is exploitation, where there is hatred, and where there is division, may your spirit bring reconciliation. Use us, as vessels of peace and as advocates for truth, never in our own strength, but always through the power of your Spirit working within us.
Father, remember those who are broken in spirit, those who are battling sickness, grief, or despair. Send comfort and remind us that you are near to each and every one of us and will save those who are down in spirit.
Lord, when we grow weary, renew our strength. When we become discouraged, remind us of Your promises. And when we feel powerless, help us to remember that Your power is made perfect in our weakness.
Father, we pray that everything we do would bring honor and glory to your holy name. In our homes, in our workplaces, in our communities, and may your name be magnified. Teach us to live as ambassadors, shining brightly, so that others may be drawn to you. Help us to love one another deeply, to bear each other’s burdens, and to encourage each other in faith. Break down walls of division, remove seeds of bitterness, and fill us with grace toward one another.
In the sacred, mighty, and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
