Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from Jonah 2:9, which reads: “I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is the Lord.”
The Lord wants us to be thankful and honor our commitments to him, for prayer is effective. He wants us to offer heartfelt thanks with a voice full of gratitude, recognizing the blessings we have received.
As we pray, let us be committed to fulfilling the promises we have made and stand firm in our dedication. For salvation belongs to the Lord, the source of all hope and grace.
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with our hearts bowed low in humility and lifted high in gratitude. You are reminding us that we should “sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. We should pay what we have vowed. Salvation is the Lord.” Lord, let these words guide our prayer. Help us to open our mouths and offer you sacrifices, not of possessions, but of praise, of thanksgiving, and of surrender, because you are worthy of it all.
Father, thank you for the gift of life and for the ability to stand before you and call you our God. Thank you for carrying us through every trial, for the moments when we felt lost, but you found us, for the times when we were weak, but you became our strength. You are faithful when we are faithless, constant when we are restless, and merciful when we have strayed far. Lord, we lift our voices in gratitude for every seen and unseen blessing, for the ones we recognize, and for the hidden mercies we never know.
Lord, we are seeking your direction, and we are asking you for your help. Lord, there are times when we have not kept our promises to you, times when we have prayed vows in moments of desperation and forgotten them when life grew easier. Lord, your mercy has never failed us. So, we come before you with a heart renewed, desiring to pay for what we have vowed: our devotion, our obedience, our trust, and our love. Help us to give ourselves fully, our past with its scars, our present with its challenges, and our future with its uncertainties. Help us to place all things into your hands because you alone are our salvation.
God, you want us to fulfill the vow we have made to you. Many of us have made vows that we have not yet fulfilled. Many of us, Lord God, have said a lot of words, and the actions didn't add up to the words. But here we are before you, praying and asking you to help us fulfill the vow we have made. Every vow that we have committed to you, every vow that we have listed before you. God, help us to pay those vows, whether they are financial vows, spiritual vows, physical vows, or family vows. Lord, help us to pay those vows, and not to get caught up in our own self-affection that we lose focus on the God in whom we serve.
Lord Jesus, thank you for being our Savior, for shedding your blood on the cross, for rising again in victory, and for offering us eternal life. Thank you for the hope that nothing, no human effort, no possession, no wisdom of this world can save us, only you can.
Father, we are praying not only for myself but for those who are hurting, for those who feel trapped in darkness, and those who need to remember that you are the God who rescues. Lord, give us comfort, peace, and rest. Extend your hand of salvation to us, so we can lift our voices in thanksgiving and know the freedom that comes from you.
Lord, may our words honor you, our actions reflect you, and our relationships reveal your love. May we be quick to forgive as we have been forgiven, quick to show mercy as we have received mercy, quick to encourage as you have encouraged us. Let our gratitude and prayer not be confined to this moment but become the rhythm of our entire life.
Father, you are reminding us that trials will come, storms will rise, and there will be moments when we feel overwhelmed. But salvation belongs to the Lord. You are our rescuer, our deliverer, our fortress, and our redeemer. Lord, even if the waters rise, even if the darkness surrounds us, help us lift up the voice of thanksgiving, because you are our God and our salvation.
Lord, help us be patient, even when the path ahead is unclear, even when the outcomes seem hidden from our sight. Lord, give us grace to be faithful to you. Not only in this life, but also in life to come. Help us to find grace in you. Help us to find joy in you. Help us to fully surrender to you. Help us to obey your word. Help us live holy, no matter what life throws our way. And help us to pay every vow that we have made. Help us to pay them, and trust you and depend upon you. Help us to live right, live holy, and believe in the God in whom we serve. Because salvation belongs to you.
Lord, we end this prayer not with finality but with surrender. We surrender our lives, our will, our desires, our burdens, and our joys into your loving hands. May every breath we take, every word we speak, and resound with this truth: you alone are worthy, you alone are faithful, and you alone are our salvation.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Please have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
