Jul 9 - Day 190. Lord, please forgive us and help us to forgive others.

Welcome to another episode of the EBC's Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from Matthew 6:12-13, which reads: “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.” 

As we pray, let us remember that God is our Sovereign Lord, a mighty Savior who equipped us with strength and compassion. He stands ready to forgive our debts, offering us mercy and forgiveness for the wrongs we have committed. The Lord will always keep us away from the trials and temptations that might lead us astray from the path of righteousness, and he will protect us from the influences of evil that seek to damage our spirit. For all power and authority reside in him, and his kingdom is one of everlasting glory, shining brightly with hope and truth.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God and Redeemer. Father, as we gather in your presence, our hearts are brimming with gratitude and reverence, echoing the beauty of your holiness. You are not only faithful but an unwavering pillar of strength, worthy of all praise and adoration. We thank you for the blessing of another day, for the countless mercies that cascade into our lives like gentle rain, both those we can see and the myriad that remain unseen, enriching our souls.

Father, we understand that prayer transcends words uttered into the vastness; it is a sacred moment of communion with you, the Creator of heaven and earth. You know us more intimately than we even know ourselves, and for this divine connection, we express our deepest appreciation. Thank you for the precious gift of prayer, a hallowed opportunity to draw near to you, laying bare our burdens, aspirations, and innermost yearnings.

Lord, as we approach you with humble hearts, we are praying and asking you to “forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” We acknowledge our daily shortcomings, recognizing that our thoughts, words, and actions often fall short of your divine standard. Yet, in your abundant mercy, you lovingly invite us to seek forgiveness, promising to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord, wash us clean, purify our hearts, and renew within us a spirit that is steadfast and true.

Father, in the light of your forgiveness, help us to extend that same grace to others. Teach us to release the chains of bitterness, resentment, and anger that bind our hearts. May we walk in the radiant freedom that forgiveness brings, reflecting the mercy you have so generously shown us. Instill within us a spirit of reconciliation, enabling us to impart forgiveness within our families, our communities, and every life we touch. May our acts of forgiveness stand as powerful testimonies of your transforming love.

Lord, keep us away from temptation and deliver us from the snares of the enemy. Grant us strength when we encounter the trials of life. You are reminding us that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but you, O Lord, come to offer us life, abundant and overflowing. Help us resist the deceitful whispers of the adversary, the distractions that draw us away from your truth, and the desires that lead us astray from your will. In moments of weakness, remind us that your grace is more than sufficient, and that your power shines most brilliantly in our frailty.

Father, help us to entrust ourselves into your loving hands, for you are our refuge and our fortress, the God in whom we place our unwavering trust. Guide our every step along paths of righteousness, and may our words and actions be a testament to your glorious name. Let our lives radiate your love, so that those around us may come to know you as their Savior and Redeemer.

Father, we acknowledge that yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. This world is not our permanent abode; we are mere pilgrims journeying through. Remind us that all authority belongs to you, and no earthly power can stand against your divinely orchestrated will. You reign supreme over every circumstance, every trial, and every storm we face. May our hearts find solace in the profound assurance that you are in control, now and forevermore.

Lord, we come before you today, mindful of those who carry heavy burdens, those who are weary from their struggles, grieving the loss of loved ones, or battling the pains of illness. We ask that you envelop them in your soothing embrace, bringing forth healing to mend their bodies and spirits, peace to calm their restless hearts, and a spark of hope to illuminate their darkest moments.

Lord, help us to be instruments of your love in a world in need. Grant us the discernment to see the struggles of others around us, and instill in us the compassion to respond with kindness and generosity. May we not grow weary in our quest to do good, but instead press forward with unwavering determination, knowing that in due season, we will reap a bountiful harvest if we remain steadfast and do not lose heart.

Father, we surrender our ambitions, dreams, and desires into your infinite care. Align our will with your divine purpose, so we may walk harmoniously in step with your spirit. Teach us to trust in you, not only when we see the path clearly laid before us but also through the fog of uncertainty. Strengthen our faith, reminding us that even when the way is hidden from our view, you are diligently crafting a path for us.

Father, as we conclude this prayer, our hearts overflow with gratitude and trust. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and forever. No one compares to you; no authority stands higher, and nothing can take away the promises you have made. We find rest in your eternal sovereignty and rejoice in the depth of your unfailing love.
