Welcome to another episode of the EBC's Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from Luke 18:1, and it reads: “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
The Lord is reminding us that prayer has the power to transform our hearts and uplift our spirits. Jesus demonstrates the importance of perseverance in prayer. He emphasizes that we should consistently seek connection with God and remain steadfast in our faith, even in the face of challenges and discouragement.
As we pray, let us remember that the Lord is encouraging us never to lose hope and always to trust in God’s timing and wisdom.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with our hearts bowed in reverence and lifted in gratitude. Lord, thank you for this opportunity to draw near to you in prayer. You are present with us during our prayers, not distant, not distracted, but fully attentive to us.
Father, thank you for reminding us that you spoke a parable to teach your disciples that they should always pray and never give up. You have opened the door of prayer so that we may come boldly before your throne of grace, to find mercy and help in our times of need. For this privilege, we are deeply thankful. Today, we receive that truth not as a command meant to burden us, but as an invitation meant to strengthen us.
Lord, you know how easily our spirits grow tired. You see how often we begin with faith but grow discouraged when answers feel delayed, when circumstances do not change, or when silence stretches longer than we expected. You understand the weight of unanswered questions, the ache of long seasons, and the fear that makes us feel like our prayers no longer matter. But thank you for reminding us that persistence in prayer is not about proving ourselves to you, but about remaining connected to you.
Father, teach us how to pray without giving up. Teach us how to return to you in prayer daily again and again, not because we are desperate for control, but because we want a deeper connection with you. Help us to believe that every prayer offered in faith is heard, even if the outcome unfolds differently than we imagined.
Lord, strengthen our hearts to keep praying, even when our hope feels fragile and our endurance feels thin. You told a story about perseverance because you know that our human heart would struggle. You know there would be days when faith would feel strong and days when it would feel almost impossible to hold onto. You know that life would press hard against us, that injustice, loss, sickness, and disappointment would test our faith. But you are encouraging us not to lose faith.
Lord, we bring before you the prayers we have been carrying for a long time. The prayers for healing that have not yet been answered. The prayers for restoration in relationships that still feel broken. The prayers for guidance, clarity, and peace that seem to echo back in silence. We place them all in your hands, trusting that you are at work even when we cannot see it. Please renew our hearts, restore our minds, and give us the courage once again to fully trust you.
God, help us to remember that persistence in prayer is spiritual faith. Give us the faith to believe that you are good even when circumstances are hard. The faith to trust that your timing, even when waiting, may feel painful, but you are still working for our good. The faith to know that hope overcomes resignation and surrender is over despair.
Father, when we feel tempted to give up, remind us of who you are. Remind us that you are a just and loving God who delights in responding to us, your children. Remind us that you are not indifferent to our cries, nor unmoved by our tears. For you see every struggle, every injustice, and every burden we carry, and you promise that nothing brought before you is wasted.
Lord, shape our hearts as we pray. Let prayer become more than a request for change, but a place of transformation. As we pray and wait on you, soften what is hardened within us. As we persist in prayer, deepen our trust, and expand our compassion for others who are also waiting for an answer.
God, teach us to pray not only for answers, but for endurance, wisdom, and peace. We are praying and lifting before you, those who are close to giving up today. Those who feel sad, those who feel worn down by disappointment, and those who are struggling to believe that prayer still matters. Father, wrap each and every one of us in your presence and remind us that we are not alone. Give us the strength we need to pray more persistently, more heartily, and to trust you.
Father, give us the faith that will endure. Faith that does not fade when the road is long. Faith that continues to seek you even when the path is unclear. Faith that rests in your promises and holds fast to your goodness. Let our prayers be rooted not in fear, but in confidence that you are faithful.
Lord, thank you for never growing weary of hearing us. Thank you for your mercy, which is not exhausted by repetition, and your love, which is not limited by time. Thank you for reminding us that every prayer we pray will draw us closer to you and shape us into the people you want us to be.
Father, help us to always pray and not give up. Help us to choose to trust you, even when answers are delayed. Help us to hope even when circumstances are difficult, and to believe that you are working all things together for our good.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Please have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
