Oct 2 – Day 275. Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
Welcome to another daily prayer. Prayer works. Approach prayer with joy and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit.
The essence of the Spirit is beautifully captured through virtues such as love, which embodies selflessness and compassion; joy, which radiates positivity and gratitude in all circumstances; and peace, a profound sense of tranquility amid life’s challenges. Additionally, long-suffering reflects patience and endurance in the face of adversity, while gentleness suggests a disposition of kindness and tender-heartedness towards others. Goodness signifies a commitment to moral integrity and benevolence, and faith embodies trust and belief that transcends doubt. Meekness illustrates humility and strength under control, and temperance speaks to self-control and moderation in our desires and actions. Together, these qualities form a holistic representation of a life guided by the Spirit, emphasizing that there are no limits or constraints against such virtues.
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to another episode of EBC's Prayer Podcast. What a blessing it is to pray and celebrate this beautiful day, the goodness of God. Today is October 2, the 275th day of the year.
God is still blessing us, still encouraging our hearts, and still reminding us of His greatness and His love.
I'm your host, Dr. Victoria Haddad, First Lady and Prayer Leader at Elyon Bible Church Apostolic in Salem, NJ.
Prayer is a powerful tool that can transform our lives when we truly approach it with joy and sincerity.
As discussed before, each of the 66 books in the Bible showcases the power of prayer. Today, let's focus on Galatians 5:22-23, which reads, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law.”
Let’s pray and invite the Spirit of God to cultivate these gifts within us, and allow the fruits to grow and flourish in our relationship with Him.
Let's pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with our hearts overflowing with gratitude and reverence. Thank you for the precious gift of prayer and the precious gift of life. You woke us up with the desire to pray, the desire to trust you, the desire to be transformed into the people you desire for us to become. So, we give you thanks for your blessing, the desire to pray, and the wisdom to recognize the love and mercy that you are showering our way.
Lord, thank you for all that you have done. And for the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; against such things there is no law.
Lord, we are earnestly seeking your guidance, strength, and grace to characterize these virtues in every aspect of our lives. Let these fruits of the Spirit be our anchor and flourish abundantly within us, not just for our spiritual growth but as a shining testament of your grace in the things you have in store for us.
Lord, we want to grow spiritually and be an example of your love. Help us remember that your unconditional love can transform our words, thoughts, and actions into pure likenesses of your spirit.
Teach us to walk in love—not just with those who are easy to love, not just with those who have done good for us, but help us, God, to love those who are challenging to our hearts. Those who are hard to love because of their action and their behavior and the things they have said and done.
Lord, fill us with true joy that goes beyond moments of happiness, so we can find joy even when life is not perfect. Our delight comes from trusting in your sovereign plans, when issues that we did not plan for come our way, and distractions that distract us from fully focusing on you, when uncertainty emerges, and our paths seem unclear.
Lord, give us peace that will calm us, peace that will smooth the issues of life, peace that will help us to be peaceful in our world, which can be confusing and bring fear, shame, and disappointment. Instill in us the gift of patience, so we can face trials and endure challenges with hope.
Lord, many of us are not patient; many of us do not know how to pray for patience. Help us to see your timing, for there are times when trials will come, disappointment will come, challenges will come, issues will come, but in the midst of all this, help us to wait with patience, respond with gentleness, and turn moments of intolerance into opportunities for growth. Help us choose you above everything, and create a deeper connection with you. Lord, today, mature a deep kindness within us, so that our words can bring healing, offer comfort, and uplift others. Especially, those who are feeling invisible or unseen. Help us to become vessels of your kindness and bring victory in a world that can feel cold and unforgiving.
O Lord, we don’t want to fall into temptation. Help us stand firm in our devotion and do what is right, even when we don’t see the full result. Help us to be responsible and delightful in the things that are pleasing to you, more than the things of this world. Strengthen our faithfulness and help us to be loyal in our relationships with you and diligent in times of uncertainty.
Lord, cultivate the spirit of gentleness within us, so we can flourish spiritually, and approach this day with the fruit of the spirit. The fruit of love, the fruit of joy, the fruit of peace, the fruit of long suffering, the fruit of gentleness, the fruit of goodness, fruit of faith, fruit of meekness, and fruit of temperance. We want to overcome whatever life throws our way and stand firm in your promises. So help us in every area of our lives. Give us self-control to be holy. Let the words that come out of our mouths be holy. Help us not to fall into the temptation or the issues of life, but to do things that will please you and demonstrate discipline.
Father, thank you for everyone who is praying and listening to this prayer podcast. Thank you for our community and everyone who is related to us. Keep us rooted in your love. So, our lives can inspire others to seek your presence and bring glory to your holy name.
In the mighty, precious, and wonderful name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. Amen.
Everyone who is listening to this podcast, please have a wonderful day. Keep on praying and remember that God is giving us the fruits of the Spirit.
By God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow.
