Good morning, everyone. Welcome again to another day. of our EBC Prayer Podcast.

Today is October 17th, the 290th day of the year. And we are still rejoicing, still praying, still believing that prayer works.  Our connection with the Lord is outstanding and will last forever.

I am Dr. Victoria Haddad, the First Lady and Prayer Leader at Elyon Bible Church, Apostolic in Salem, New Jersey.

Today, we are going to focus on Ephesians 5:8, and it reads: “For ye were sometimes darkness but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light”

Oh, glory, hallelujah, Jesus. Today, God is encouraging us to walk as children of light. He wants us to shine brightly for him and to rejoice in his goodness, showcase his marvelous light in our lives.

So we are going to pray, and we're going to ask God to guide us, help us to be that light that would shine brightly for him and in the world that's sometimes full of darkness.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, our Lord God and Savior, Father, we humbly come before you with gratitude for your grace and mercy.

We thank you for reminding us that we are no longer wandering in the shadow of despair or confusion, for your light is shining brightly within us, guiding our step in eliminating the path of righteousness that leads to fulfilling life. You are reminding us that we were sometimes in darkness, but now we are the light in the Lord. We are earnestly seeking your strength and wisdom to walk confidently as children of light and express compassion, kindness, and love.

Lord, these words are piercing deeply and reminding us of where we have come from, the shadow, the lostness, the way we stumble within our truth. God, they are reminding us of where you have brought us from. God, into your marvelous light where love, peace, and truth abide.

Help us to shine brightly in this world, to spread hope and joy to others, to be an example of God, and to embrace the spiritual journey. Lord, give us the strength to turn away from darkness, to resist temptation, to choose a path that will honor you.

Father, we remember the days when our hearts were far from you. In that place of darkness, Lord, we remember times where we were, when we were only surviving. sought peace in the wrong place, identified the wrong voice, and hoped for things that would never satisfy. But you, Lord, rich in mercy, slow in anger, reach out to us. You did not leave us in that darkness. You call us by name. You draw us to you in a chord of kindness.

You shine the light of Christ in our hearts, and give us life where we were in darkness, when we were dead.

For you, God, you are the Lord who gives us the deepest gratitude to give you thanks. And so, Lord Jesus, you are the light of the world. And in you, we are no longer in darkness. No longer where we were once, all things have passed away. All things have become new.

God help us to confess that sometimes we still try to walk with one foot in light and the other in the darkness. But Lord God help us to think of this world and have faith in you. Let bitterness cloud, be clouded with joy. Let the presence of your light push away self-reliance, so we can depend upon you.

Oh God, help us to depend on your forgiveness. Wash and cleanse us each and every day.

Father, we are praying that your Holy Spirit will teach us what it truly means to walk as children of light.

Let us not be mirrored words; not a direct daily practice will help us to walk in love, to truly love you, God. Surrender fully to you. Become pure, become holy, become righteous.

Remember, God, all that you have done for us, how you shed your blood on Calvary for us, how you heal us from sin, how you redeem us from darkness.

God, Oh, God, let your goodness, Oh, God, spring forth in our lives, help us to glorify you each and every day.

Lord, we are praying for coverage, for courage, for strength. We are praying, God, for forgiveness and for gentleness. Remove every wound, remove every ungodliness, remove every doubt.

Give us wisdom to know you, God, to reject things that are not light, because you want us to walk in your love, walk as children of life. To do the right thing, so that your will can be accomplished in our lives. Father, we pray today, make our home a place of light. May our words build up and not tear down. May our hearts be quickened to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. May our family see you in us, God.

Even when we're not perfect, God, help them to see your goodness shining through us, God.

Oh God, we are praying that you help us to repent and grow spiritually. Help us to uplift those who are not good and become the light that you want us to be.

Lord God, we are praying for our friends, our families, our neighbors, and even our strangers. Everyone that passes our way and everyone that will pass through us today, God, open their eyes to see the hope that can be found in you.

God, break every chain and keep us bound and warm us in your love. Help us to be a light that will spring forth and shine brightly.

Use us as a vessel, Lord. Give us the courage and the boldness to share the hope that we have in you. Father, when the path ahead seems dim, help us to remember that your love is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. When the burden of life feels heavy, Lord God, help us to be radiated by your promise.

Lift our hearts, God, and strengthen our step. Lord, we praise you for the light you have given us will not fade. Oh, God, it is not your will that any should perish, but all should turn to you in repentance.

So Lord, God, help us to be steadfast. Help us, God, to be victorious over every darkness that will draw our way. Every disappointment that will come our way.

Help us not to give up on you, but become the light of God in a world that needs you. Oh, God, to everyone who surrounds us who needs to see your light. God, help us to shine and walk as children of life.

Walk in your spirit. Walk with our eyes fixed on you, because you are the anchor. You are the finisher of our faith.

Lord God, we can stand right beside you and grow spiritually, because you are always leading and guiding us. You are our strength. You're the one who loves us unconditionally, who gave your life for us.

So we pray all of this in your powerful name, of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you, Jesus.

Thank you, Lord.

Don't give up on God. Keep on shining. we are children of light. We'll pray again tomorrow by God's grace.
