Good morning, everyone! Welcome to another episode of our EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Today is November 20, the 324 day of the year.
I’m your host, Dr. Victoria Haddad, the First Lady and Prayer Leader at the Elyon Bible Church Apostolic in Salem, NJ.
Today, our scripture will be taken from Philemon 1:21, and it reads: “Have confidence in obedience, I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.”
Today, let us have confidence during our prayer and let the Lord be accomplished in our lives. He wants us to endure all things for his glory.
Let’s pray
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, our God, and our Savior. Father, we come before you with gratitude for the blessing of another day and the invaluable gift of prayer that allows us to connect with you. In the stillness for another moment, we are opening our hearts before you.
Lord, you have given us promises and want us to have confidence in your obedience, knowing that you will do even more for us than we can ask for or say. Lord, these words are not just for Philemon many years ago, but they are for us, right now, and right where we are.
Father, help us to truly surrender to you. Even though obedience is not always easy, our flesh sometimes resists, our pride sometimes rebels, and our will often pushes us against your will.
Today, you are reminding us that obedience is the pathway to peace, the doorway to blessing, and the evidence of true love we are receiving from you.
Lord, because of your obedience, salvation was made available to the world. Because you obeyed, we have hope, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Teach us to walk in the spirit, that when we ask for forgiveness, we are forgiven; when we are called to serve, we will serve others faithfully.
Father, Paul wrote with confidence that Philemon would do even more than what was asked.
Teach us to be people who go the extra mile, who bless when it isn’t required, who love when it isn’t deserved, who give when no one is watching. Let our obedience not be minimal, but abundant, so that others see Christ in us, the hope of glory.
Lord, we pray, for every area of our lives, especially where obedience is hard.
Remember those who are struggling to forgive and give them the courage to release bitterness.
Remember those who are resisting their call to ministry and their call to service, give them the strength to say yes.
Remember those who are wrestling with temptation, give them power by the Holy Spirit to overcome the temptation in their lives.
Remember those who are weary from waiting, help them to obey in patience, knowing your timing is perfect.
Lord, make us confident that obedience is never wasted, never unseen, never in vain. But it will bear fruit, even when we don’t see it right away.
It is not about earning your love, but about responding to the love already poured out when you poured your love at Calvary.
We do not walk alone, for You are our Helper, our Comforter, our Guide. When we stumble, we can rise again, and when we fall short, your mercy will be new every day, every morning, and every moment in our lives.
Lord, give us confidence, confidence not in ourselves, but when we choose your way, it is always the best way. Confidence that you can do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or imagine, through our simple acts of surrender, you lay your life down for us.
Father, in closing, let your confidence be done in our lives. Let our confidence in you bless our families, inspire our children, and encourage our neighbors. Let people look at our lives and see the beauty of holiness, the freedom of surrender, and the joy of walking in step with the Spirit of God in us.
Lord, thank you for hearing our prayer. Thank you for reminding us of the confidence we have in you. And thank you for reminding us that by your grace, we will not only do what you ask, but more than you ask, because your Spirit empowers us.
We seal this prayer in the precious, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Keep on praying, keep on trusting God. Have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow. Bye-bye.
