Dec 7 – Day 341. Proclaim Praises 1 Peter 2.9
“You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; ye should shew forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
Welcome to another daily prayer. Pray earnestly and express your gratitude. You belong to a chosen generation. You are a chosen generation, set apart for a significant purpose, a royal priesthood entrusted with a sacred duty, a holy nation embodying the values of righteousness and grace, and a peculiar people distinguished by your unique identity in a world full of conformity. It is your calling to proclaim and celebrate the virtues and majesty of the One who has called you out of the shadows of despair and into His marvelous light, illuminating your path with hope and truth.
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to another episode of our EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Today rejoice for it is December 7, the 341st day of the year, and God is still pouring blessing upon us that we don’t even have room enough to receive.
I’m your host, Dr. Victoria Haddad. The First Lady and Prayer Leader at Elyon Bible Church Apostolic in Salem, NJ. It is an honor and a joy to pray with you another day. It is also an honor to reflect on the journey we’ve traveled so far and the opportunities that lie ahead.
This morning, our scripture will be taken from 1 Peter 2:9, which reads. “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; ye should shew forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Today, the Lord is inviting us to embrace our unique calling and the significance of our identity in him. We are not just individuals, but a community, a chosen generation that is set apart to shine brightly in a world that often feels overshadowed by darkness.
So today, as we pray, let us shine the light of the Lord in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, Our Chosen and Gracious God,
Father, we come before you with humble hearts, deeply thankful for this precious moment to gather in prayer. Thank you for hearing us, for receiving us with love, and for the privilege to speak with you during our prayer, for you are the Creator of heaven and earth.
Lord, we are truly grateful that you called us out of darkness and welcomed us into your marvelous light. You have chosen us, redeemed us, and given us a place in your family, and for that, we are always giving you praise.
Father, thank you for reminding us that we are your chosen people, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. We are not worthy of such a calling, and yet you, in your mercy, have set us apart for your divine purposes. Thank you, Lord, that our identity is not built on what the world says, but on what you desire for us and declare over us. You call us beloved, redeemed, and your treasured possession. We ask, O Lord, that you help us to fully embrace this identity, not with pride, but with humility and gratitude.
Father, help us to live a life that honors and glorifies you. Every word we speak and every action we take has the power to either enlighten, draw others toward us, or push them away. Help us to be vessels of grace, instruments of your peace, and reflections of your holiness. May the way we live, how we treat others, how we work, how we love, be a testimony to your goodness and mercy.
Lord, strengthen us to boldly proclaim your excellence, not only with our lips but also with our lives. Give us the courage to share your hope with those around us, especially in a world where so many are lost, weary, and searching for truth. May we never be ashamed of the gospel, but instead proclaim it with gentleness, compassion, and conviction. Let your Spirit lead us in every encounter, that others may see your light shining through us.
Father, we confess that sometimes we fall short. Sometimes we doubt who you are. Sometimes we allow fear, comparison, or discouragement to silence us. Forgive us, Lord. Renew our hearts and remind us daily that our worth and confidence come solely from you. Teach us to rest in your promises and to trust your plans, even when they seem unforgiving and stretch us beyond our comfort.
Lord, empower us to serve you faithfully, not for recognition, but because we love you and desire to bring joy to your heart. Help us to shine your light wherever we go, whether at home, at work, in school, or among strangers. Let others see your love through our kindness, patience, forgiveness, and generosity.
Father, once again we are praying for those who are struggling, those who feel far from you, those who are doubtful, those who are burdened by shame, guilt, or despair. Surround us with your presence and remind us that we are never forgotten. Use us, Lord, to be a weapon of hope to those who feel forgotten.
Lord, bring unity among us, your people. As members of your holy nation, help us to walk together in love, humility, and purpose. Remove division, remove bitterness, and remove pride from among us. Teach us to honor one another, to listen with compassion, and to serve you selflessly, so your desires can be accomplished in our lives. May our unity be a powerful testimony to the world that we truly belong to you.
Father, teach us to act with grace in all our endeavors. In moments of conflict, help us respond with peace. In times of challenge, help us persevere with faith. In seasons of joy, remind us to give you thanks. And in times of sorrow, help us to lean on your everlasting arms for comfort and strength.
Lord, we surrender our plans, our dreams, and our daily steps to your hands. Lead us in the way we should go. Order our footsteps so that we walk in righteousness, and let your word be the lamp to our feet and the light to our path.
Father, in closing, thank you for calling us, thank you for equipping us, thank you for never leaving us, and thank you for the gift of salvation.
Please transform us into the people you have called us to be. May our lives be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to you. May everything we do reflect your goodness and bring honor to your holy name.
We love you, Lord, and we give you all glory, all honor, and all praise. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Keep on praying, keep on trusting God. Have a wonderful day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow. Bye-bye.
