“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:25-26)
Whom do I have in heaven but You, O Lord? In the vastness of the earth, I find no desire greater than the relationship I share with You. Though my flesh and my heart may falter in moments of weakness, it is You who provides unwavering strength to my heart. You are my eternal portion, my refuge in times of trouble, and the source of my hope that transcends all worldly circumstances.
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Today is March 17, marking the 76th day of the year, and God is still blessing us. Today, let us give God thanks for the opportunity to come together in prayer.
I’m your host, Dr. Victoria Haddad, the First Lady and Prayer Leader at Elyon Bible Church Apostolic in Salem, New Jersey. Every day, it fills my heart with joy to connect with each of you during our daily prayer.
As mentioned in previous episodes, our prayers this year will be rooted in the 66 books of the Bible. Started in Genesis and will conclude in the book of Revelation.
Today, we are continuing in the book of Psalms. Our scripture will be taken from Psalm 73:25-26, which reads: “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Today, let us pray with assurance, for God is the strength of our heart and our portion forever.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Gracious God, Lord and Redeemer,
Father, we come before you with sincere hearts, joining with the psalmist, “Whom have we in heaven but You? And earth has nothing we desire besides You. Our flesh and our heart may fail, but you, God is the strength of our heart and our portion forever.”
Lord, in You alone do we find the source of our strength, our comfort, and our eternal hope.
For who is there for us in heaven but you, O Lord? Who on earth could ever satisfy the deep longing of our hearts? It is you who created us, you who redeemed us, and you who sustain us even when life presses heavily upon us. For this, we are deeply thankful.
Father, we know you are with us, in our joy and in our pain, in our clarity and in our confusion. Help us to never lose sight of this truth.
Lord, our flesh and our heart may fail, but you, God, are the strength of our heart and our portion forever. At times, our bodies are fragile. Illness, pain, and fatigue often remind us of our human weakness. But help us remain steadfast in prayer. for in our weakness, your strength is made perfect. Too often, the trials of life weigh us down, and we grow weary in seeking you. While our flesh may fail us, let our spirits be renewed daily by your presence. Teach us to trust in your miraculous healing power, whether it comes in ways we expect or in ways that surprise us. Help us to surrender our timelines, our expectations, and our control into your faithful hands, knowing that you are never late, and your ways are always perfect. Restore not only our physical bodies but also our spiritual souls. Infuse within us the courage to endure and give us joy that springs up even in seasons of sorrow.
Gracious Father, strengthen our faith with bravery and resolve. Free us from the burdens of sin that weigh us down, the doubts that cloud our faith, the fears that paralyze us, the guilt that steals our joy, and the pride that blinds us of who we are. Help us to remember that we are no longer slaves but beloved children of the Most High King.
Lord Jesus, you bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. You know what it is to suffer. And because you triumphed over death, we too can live boldly. Give us the courage to face each day with confidence and help us not to live in defeat, rise with hope, clothed in your righteousness and empowered by your Spirit.
Father, we pray not only for ourselves but for all who are hurting today. Let Your love flow over every heart, washing away bitterness, anger, and despair.
Lord, we long for the day when every tear will be wiped away, when pain will be no more, and when we will see you face to face. Until that day. Help us to reflect your grace and point others to the hope found in you alone.
We end this prayer, O God, not in fear but in confidence, for You are our portion forever. Though the world may shift and our hearts may falter, your love never changes. Help us live each day with eternity in mind, with love in our actions, and with worship in our hearts.
In the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Keep on praying, keep on trusting God. Have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow. Bye-bye.
