Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Today is the beginning of July, a wonderful summer month. As we step into the beautiful month, let us pray without ceasing. As discussed in our previous episodes, our prayers will be rooted in the 66 books of the Bible. We began in Genesis and will conclude in Revelation by the end of the year.
Today, we are entering the New Testament area of the bible. Our scripture will be taken from the book of Matthew 5:3-4, and it reads: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
As we pray, let us open our hearts to the many blessings that the Lord is pouring into our lives. Blessed are the humble and the oppressed, for they represent a spirit that holds onto hope and the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who grieve and feel the weight of loss, for in their sorrow, they will find relief and comfort that brings healing to their hearts.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Comforter. Father, as we step into this beautiful summer month. The warmth of the sun and the times of this season remind us of your goodness and your faithful presence in our lives. We come before you with our hearts overflowing with gratitude. A fresh beginning filled with opportunities to grow closer to you. As the world around us flourishes with life and light, help our spirits flourish as well, rooted deeply in your love and guided by your truth.
Lord, teach us to pray without ceasing. In every moment, whether in joy or in struggle, remind us that we can turn to you. Let our thoughts become prayers, our gratitude become worship, and our moments become sacred conversations with you. Help us to carry your presence with us throughout our days, remembering that you are near to us in every circumstance.
Lord, thank you for reminding us that “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Today, we cling tightly to these promises. Teach us to walk in humility, reminding us that it is not through our own strength but in our surrender that we discover the true richness of your presence. Help us to remain lowly in spirit, not seeking to elevate ourselves above others, but to lift our hearts in a spirit of service and love, just as you did.
Father, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” We acknowledge our weaknesses. We stumble, we falter, and at times, we allow the weight of our burdens to crush us. In those very moments of weakness, we come before you with humble hearts, recognizing how much we need you. You see, every tear and every unspoken cry for you are a God who not only reigns supreme from heaven but also walks with us through the dark valleys of our lives.
Lord, cleanse us from all wrongdoing. When our hearts are tempted to stray, redirect us back to your path of righteousness. When our minds are clouded with resentment, break through with the light of your truth. When our lips hesitate to praise, unseal them with songs of thanksgiving that rise to the heavens.
Lord, Strip away our pride and self-reliance, and replace them with a deep awareness that every good thing comes from you. Teach us to rely on your strength rather than our own, to seek your wisdom above our understanding, and to trust in your guidance each step of the way.
Lord, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” You see every sorrow, every tear, and every burden that weighs upon our hearts. For those who are grieving, discouraged, or feeling overwhelmed, we are praying that your comforting presence would surround us. Thank you for reminding us that we are not alone, for you are with us through every valley, and your love never fails.
Father, we are praying for those who are mourning today. The families who are facing loss, hearts that are weighed down by grief, and souls who feel abandoned in their sorrow. Wrap them in your everlasting love, a love that never falters or fades. Lord, let your Spirit be our counselor and comforter, reminding us that even in the deepest darkness, joy will break forth in the morning light. For those who struggle in silence, carrying burdens that remain unseen, grant them courage.
Lord, we also pray for our communities and our world. We see brokenness, division, and pain all around us. Help us not to grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not lose heart. Teach us to find joy, recognize your hand at work in the ordinary moments, and to live each day as a testament of your abundant grace.
Lord, as we journey through this month, help us to carry compassion in our hearts. Open our eyes to the needs of those around us. Let our words bring encouragement, our actions bring hope, and our presence reflect your grace.
Fill this new month with purpose. Help us to live each day with intention, seeking to honor you in all that we do. When challenges arise, strengthen our faith so that we may face them with courage and trust. When blessings come, remind us to receive them with gratitude and acknowledge that every gift comes from you.
Teach us also to find rest in your presence. Draw our hearts closer to you. Let the beauty of summer, the warmth of the sun, the breeze, the brilliant life all around us, remind us of the beauty of your creation and the depth of your love for us.
Lord, thank you for hearing us. You are the God who never sleeps nor slumbers, the God who bends his ear to the fervent prayers of his children. May your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts.
In the mighty, precious, and holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Please have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
