July 31 – Day 212. God is the Bread of Life

Welcome to another episode of our EBC Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from John 6:35, and it reads, “And Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” 

As we pray, let us remember that Jesus is the bread of life. If we believe in him, we will not thirst. If we approach him, seeking fulfillment in our hearts, we shall never find ourselves in want or hunger. And if we place our trust in him, believing in his words and the promise he brings, we will never experience thirst, for he is offering us a deep spiritual nourishment that quenches the deepest longings of our spirit.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, our God, and our Savior. We gather before you with humble and grateful hearts, seeking to express our deep appreciation for the gift of life, a precious blessing that you are bestowing upon us daily. Thank you for the sacred opportunity to come together in prayer, for the countless blessings that surround us, both those we can see and the many that remain hidden from our eyes.  

Lord, we are especially grateful for the reminder that you are “the bread of life.” Your words reassure us that “he who comes to you shall never hunger, and he who believes in you shall never thirst.” In you alone, we discover the nutrition our souls yearn for, the true nourishment that the world, with all its distractions, cannot provide.  

In this world, there are so many wandering in search of meaning, chasing after pleasures and temporary satisfaction. Thank you for reminding us that only you can fill the deepest longings of our hearts. It’s all too easy to become preoccupied with worldly pursuits, wealth, recognition, comfort, or security, believing they will fulfill us. Yet time and again, these pursuits leave us feeling hollow, reminding us that real fulfillment can only be found in you.  

Lord, as we reflect on you, the bread of life, we are reminded of the profound sacrifice you made for us on the cross. Thank you for giving your body and shedding your blood so that we might have the gift of eternal life. May we never take for granted the depth of your love and the high cost of our redemption. Help us to lead lives that honor you, filled with gratitude, obedience, and a spirit of service.  We are seeking your forgiveness for the times we have sought satisfaction in the wrong places. Teach us to surrender those misplaced longings to you, the perfecter of our faith.  

Father, we ask that you fill the empty spaces in our lives today. Fill the voids in our hearts with your boundless love. Where there is loneliness, may your spirit bring companionship and warmth. Where anxiety looms, replace it with your peace, a profound tranquility that surpasses all understanding. Where weariness weighs us down, strengthen us with your joy, lifting our spirits. And where there is brokenness, we implore you to bring healing, restoration, and hope. We recognize that our souls remain restless until they find their rest in you.  

Lord, guide us as we navigate the trials and tribulations of life. Each of us faces our unique struggles, be it in our families, our health, our finances, or our faith journeys. Help us to hold steadfast to the truth that you are with us, our shepherd who provides for all our needs. When we feel weak, remind us that your grace is more than sufficient. When we feel lost, remind us that you are the way, the truth, and the life.  

For those who hunger, we pray not just for daily bread but for the everlasting spiritual nourishment that sustains our souls. For those who thirst, we ask for pure water to drink, but even more so, for the living water that only you can provide. For the weary, let us be granted strength to endure. And for the brokenhearted, may your tender healing hand mend their wounds and restore their spirits.  

Lord, let our prayers compel us to action. Empower us to become vessels of your love and compassion in a world that so desperately needs it. May we be your hands and feet, reaching out to those in need, sharing kindness, and illuminating the darkness with your light wherever we go.  

Father, help us to fully surrender to your divine will. “Not our will, Lord, but yours be done.” Instill in us the courage to trust in your timing, even when the answers we seek seem delayed. Grant us the faith to persevere in our belief, even when our circumstances feel overwhelming. And bless us with patience to wait upon you, knowing that you make all things beautiful in your perfect timing.  

Father, open our hearts to receive your nourishment. Feed us through your word, strengthen us through prayer, and encourage us through fellowship with fellow believers. Use us as instruments of your grace, so our actions can reflect your love.  

Lord, thank you for hearing this prayer and for reassuring us that we are never alone.  We seal this prayer in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord…Amen.
