Ampiy Juarez, more than competition, a real estate community. In a city that never stops reinventing itself, where every new avenue opens up possibilities and every building tells a story of growth, there is a silent movement that sustains much of that progress and the economic development of the region. The real estate sector. Behind every house that finds its family, every plot of land that becomes a business, and every development that transforms the urban landscape, there is a network of professionals and companies working to give structure, trust, and ethics to a constantly evolving market. In Ciudad Juarez, this movement has a central hub, spearheaded by Angela Zavala, president of the local chapter of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals. From there, she leads a community that now comprises more than 70 real estate agencies in the region, all working to strengthen the professionalization of the sector and raise industry standards. With over 14 years of experience within the association and a 25-year career focused on real estate management, Angela Zavala is leading a new stage for AMPI based on clear pillars. Collaboration to unite professionals in the sector, training to raise the level of those who work in the industry, and technology, to modernize the way in which the supply of sustainable growth in the development of the city is connected in the real estate sector. But to understand the impact of this organization, we must first answer a simple question. What is AMPI and why is it important? Talking about real estate is about something much deeper than simply buying or selling houses. It's about economics, urban development, investment, and dreams, a chain that drives a city's growth. In Ciudad Juarez, that real estate ecosystem has a name that articulates it. AMPI stands for Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, an organization with a national presence and international alliance that brings together companies, real estate advisors, and developers seeking to professionalize the real estate sector. Since its inception in 1989 in the city, the association has transformed itself into a community that integrates different profiles in the sector. Advisors, brokers, developers, property managers, and specialists in different market segments. Currently, Ampi Ciudad Juarez brings together more than 70 real estate companies, many of them established businesses that represent different market niches. Social housing, residential housing, land, industrial buildings, commercial warehouses, vertical developments. For Angela Zavala, the main value of the association lies in something that completely changes the logic of the market. We are not competitors, we are collaborators, she explains. Within AMPI, real estate agencies share investments, investors, and business opportunities. This allows agents who don't have a property with certain characteristics to find one within the network of associates and finalize the transaction with another professional, thus protecting both our companies and clients. The result is a model based on collaboration and business partnerships, where the end customer has access to a much wider range of properties. Here, we don't see each other as competitors, but as allies working towards a more professional and reliable real estate market. A connected real estate ecosystem. One of the clearest benefits of AMPI membership is access to executive investment projects for properties and opportunities. Angela Zavala explains a simple example. If a client is looking for a house between 4 and 5 million pesos and their advisor doesn't have that property available, they can share the request within the association. At that point, other advisors can respond if they have a property that meets those criteria, and the same applies in other sectors, such as industrial. AMPI is open to new members and, given this new executive vision, is encouraging them to join. This creates a collaborative operation where both advisors participate in the sale. This system expands opportunities for both professionals and clients, but the collaboration isn't limited to the local level. AMPI also functions as a national and international network, allowing advisors from Ciudad Juarez to sell properties in tourist destinations or in other states of the country. Apartments in Cancun, developments in Mazatlan or investments in other cities, also in the USA and anywhere in the world, can be marketed thanks to this network. When an advisor joins AMPI, they are not just joining an association, they are joining a community where opportunities are shared and projects are built together. An open door for new generations. One of the most important projects of the current administration is AMPI Juvenile, a committee aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old who seek to integrate into the real estate sector. The initiative aims to attract new generations to the real estate market, even if their original profession is different. Dentists, communicators, architects, lawyers, or entrepreneurs can find an additional business opportunity in the real estate sector. In addition, AMPI has promoted its own educational model that includes diplomas, certifications, master's degrees, and a bachelor's degree in real estate. This academic model allows those who want to enter the sector to do so with formal preparation. We want young people to see the real estate sector as a professional career, not just as a sales activity, says Angela Zavala. Training. The foundation of the real estate professional. The growth of the sector has brought with it a major challenge, professionalization. Therefore, AMPI promotes multiple certifications and training programs among its members. Among the most relevant are Infinavit certifications, FOVIST certifications, training in mortgage loans, courses on artificial intelligence applied to the sector, training in the legal framework of real estate, certifications in condominium administration. In the case of Angela Zavala, her specialty is precisely the administration of condominium properties, a certification recognized by AMPI and the SCP. This expertise is becoming increasingly relevant in a city that is beginning to invest in vertical developments. She has worked for the real estate company URSA for over 30 years. Angela Zavala. The woman who is redefining the real estate business in Ciudad Juarez. There are moments in our professional lives that change the way we see our work. Moments that, without us even realizing it, end up shaping the course of our entire career. For Angela Zavala, that moment happened more than a decade ago at a National Real Estate Congress in Guadalajara. There, surrounded by more than a thousand real estate advisors from all over the country, she discovered something that completely transformed her understanding of the sector. In real estate, true strength lies in collaboration. I used to think real estate agencies were competitors. But then I realized that we are actually allies, he recalls. That conference revealed something even more important to him. The national and international reach of the real estate sector. Beach developers, investors, and industry suppliers were presenting projects in which any consultant or company in the country could participate. It was then that he understood that a real estate professional in Ciudad Juarez could also sell properties in Cancun or Mazatlan thanks to the collaborative network that is AMPI. That moment marked the beginning of his journey within the association. Today, years after that experience, Angela Zavala leads that same vision as president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, AMPI, Ciudad Juarez, an organization that brings together more than 70 real estate companies in the region and seeks to professionalize one of the most important sectors for the economic growth of the border. But her story doesn't begin with a position, it begins with a calling. From collaborator to president. For years, Angela Zavala was actively involved with AMPI. She served on various boards of directors and held the position of treasurer within the association on several occasions. Later, she had the opportunity to serve as a national advisor for AMPI, holding the position of Vice President of Membership Services and Benefits. This involved frequent trips to Mexico City, where she gained first-hand knowledge of the national organization's structure. This experience allowed her to grasp a fundamental principle. AMPI thrives on teamwork. The process begins with an election for vice president, where the future leader serves alongside the incumbent president for two years. This period allows them to learn the association's operations before assuming leadership. Today, Angela Zavala leads the organization with a clear vision to build a more business-oriented, technologically advanced, and inclusive association. A diverse board of directors. The current board of directors of AMPI Ciudad Juarez is made up of 11 leaders, each with a different specialty within the real estate sector. Among the most important committees are AMPI Women, AMPI Youth, the Industrial Commercial Sector, and Leasing and Real Estate Development. Also included are the departments of membership, benefits, finance treasury, and events. Each director has the freedom to create their own team and develop projects within their area. Generational diversity is also a central part of the model. Within the association, professionals with over 50 years of experience work alongside young people as young as 25. The goal is to bridge the generational gap and leverage the best of each group, experience and technology. Technology and new tools. One of the most important objectives of Angela Zavala's presidency is to modernize real estate operations, as technology is changing the way properties are marketed. Today it is possible to showcase houses, land, or industrial buildings through virtual tours, professional videos, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence. This allows a client to learn about a property without having to physically visit it. Therefore, AMPI's vision is that all members, regardless of age, learn to use these tools. Ethics and trust in the sector. In a market where real estate fraud can occur even through social media or WhatsApp messages, AMPI seeks to reinforce something fundamental. The trust in the legal order. To achieve this, partner advisors must meet training, certification, and legal compliance standards. One of the fundamental steps before selling a property is verifying the legal and tax information. This ensures that properties are delivered with clear documentation and free of legal issues. The goal is to protect both the client and the real estate advisor and company. The economic impact of the sector. The real estate sector has a direct impact on the economy of Ciudad Juarez. Real estate agents act as intermediaries between the supply and demand for housing, land, and commercial spaces. Furthermore, the region's industrial growth is generating new opportunities. One of the most important factors is nearshoring, which has driven the arrival of international companies to the border region. This has increased the demand for industrial buildings, warehouses, offices, and executive housing. The city's border location fosters a constant influx of foreign investors interested in participating in real estate projects. Listening to them and addressing their proposals is part of the daily routine in this sector. Service-based leadership. For Angela Zavala, presiding over AMPI is not an administrative position, it is a service. The board members do not receive a salary for their work within the association. Their motivation is to strengthen the real estate sector and support the professionals who are part of the organization. After years of experience within AMPI, Zavala sees her presidency as part of a natural progression. From attending her first National Real Estate Congress to leading the association in Ciudad Juarez, each stage has been a learning experience. Today their goal is clear to build a stronger, more technological, and more collaborative AMPI, which is part of the objectives of the Real Estate Forum to be held in September of this year. A message for the business community. The president of AMPI Ciudad Juarez sends a clear message to both business owners and real estate advisors. It asks investors and clients to trust the associated professionals. And it extends a direct invitation to independent advisors. Come to AMPI, learn about the association, participate in our training sessions, and discover the business opportunities that can be generated when we work as a team. Because in the real estate sector, as she herself summarizes it, true growth happens when we stop competing and start collaborating.
