Ricardo Alarcón. Good taste as a Destination. By José Martín Rodriguez. Ricardo Alarcón has spent many years building a career in the world of design and decoration in Juarez. Enough time to witness trends, markets, and generations change. His story, like that of many entrepreneurs in the city, began from the bottom with little more than contacts and determination. His early years were a forced learning experience. Born in Delicias, he emigrated to Juarez at a young age, and soon after went to work, like many others in El Paso, Texas. He got a job as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant. He didn't speak English, and it took him about a year and a half to be able to communicate fluently with American customers. Fortunately, one of his co-workers would send him to the Spanish-speaking customers, and he did very well. However, this aroused envy, and he was reported and deported. From the mid-90s, Ricardo began selling rugs and other decorative items to Ruba's model homes. He recalls that at that time they allowed him to put a plaque that said, This house was decorated by Ricardo Alarcone. So those who visited the house recognized Ricardo's talent and called him. This led him to open his own business in 1995 or 1996 in a very small office, from where he built a network of clients and a reputation that defines him today. Ricardo Alarcone discovered that his craft and good taste were innate, allowing him to identify emerging trends in interior design and anticipate them, providing blinds, curtains, and home solutions. Her business grew on the conviction that good taste isn't exclusive to those with more money. I try to get to know my clients, their personalities and interests, to create pleasant spaces for them. I don't sell just to sell. I even offer different high-quality brands at different price points, she insists, referring to her philosophy of offering options for different budgets without sacrificing product quality. Today, with over 30 years in the market, Alarcone aims to continue being a catalyst for change in an industry where, he says, people fear the unknown. His advice for young entrepreneurs is straightforward humility, confidence, and independence. We all have a destiny, he affirms. He found his in design and has spent decades proving it was the right one.
