Seeking insights beyond the typical English shelf, want to be a better parent and achieve more in life? You are in the right place. Grab your bubble tea and let's dive in. Hi everyone, welcome to a new episode of a book with bubble tea. This is Mira. How's everyone doing? And we are going to have the East Asia this week.
Speaker 1:In today's episode, we are going to talk about one of the most popular places amongst all Taiwanese people in the entire Taiwan that you cannot avoid when you visit Taiwan. Guess what is it? Yes, the answer is a convenience store. Did you get it right?
Speaker 1:Convenience stores are such an indispensable part of life in advanced East Asian countries and Taiwan is no exception. In Taiwan, there is one convenience store for every 1,582 people, ranking it second in the world for store density. For comparison, neighboring South Korea, leading the global list, averages one store per 1,200 people, while Japan is in third place, has one store for every 2,248 people. But the services offered by Taiwanese convenience stores are just immaturable. They are diverse and continuously evolving. Imagine this On a busy morning commute, you can grab a decent cup of hot coffee and bubble tea from your convenience store.
Speaker 1:And for your lunchtime guess what? Without restaurant crowd, you can actually go to convenience store to buy your lunch, and it's actually very, very decent. Running late for a sudden meeting with a client? Don't worry, you can get a taxi from your convenience store. No time to drop a package at the post office? Not to worry, simply send it from the nearest convenience store to a recipient's nearby location. Even more impressively, planning a trip home for the holiday? Well, at a convenience store kiosk, you can effortlessly book high-speed rail tickets and even print them on the spot. And if you forget to prepare your New Year gifts, no worries. From sought after branded gifts to pre-ordered New Year dishes whatever you want they can be delivered to your nearest convenience store. They have you covered.
Speaker 1:Convenience stores in Taiwan offer an astonishing array of services, from delicious foods like street snacks or delicacies from famous eateries to essential needs covering every aspect of everyone's daily life. They are so integral that many foreigners living in Taiwan even fall in love with it too. They call it an irresistibly inviting, a daily necessity. Or it's actually the largest train restaurant in Taiwan. Convenience stores have garnered immense appreciation. The extent of Taiwanese people's reliance on these stores is also so significant that the top most visited location on Google's stream viewed in Taiwan for the year of 2022 was… yes, convenience stores. So next time when you come to Taiwan, make sure you stop by a convenience store to see for yourself. But trust me, even if you don't intend to stop by, you will likely to run into one for sure, because they are just that convenient. Alright, this is East Asia this week from A Book with Bubble Tea. I hope you enjoy it. And now we have a YouTube channel at A Book with Bubble Tea with Mira. Make sure you subscribe it Until next time. Bye.
