Yes its windy in Fiji and why do conditions get worse when something is broken. In my case the anchor windlass seized at Paradise Resort, I was not able to fix it in Savusavu and need to sail to the Vuda Marina in the South of Fiji to find an engineering shop.

We decided to spend a couple of weeks travelling to Vuda Marina and also stop and do some diving enroute, however the wind decided to make that a real challenge.

Anchoring in 25m of water without an anchor winch and recovering your anchor by hand in gusty conditions, not fun.

We also found an island  where the wind never stops, Yadua Island is quite beautiful but we never saw less then 25 knots of breeze. Be warned.

However the locals there where great.
