Speaker 1:I noticed man Right when I came in. I'm like who is this guy?
Speaker 2:Here's the problem. What's the problem? I got two baptisms coming up back to back.
Speaker 3:It's not a problem.
Speaker 2:It's nice Listen. I'm actually pretty excited that my cousin asked myself and Andrea to be the godparents to their beautiful baby and my sister, chicago chi, no way flying out the week after. So back to back, I told vinnie m, get the scissors out, let's go chop them up, make me look good. And uh, well, you noticed yeah, I noticed.
Speaker 1:Man, you're gonna even look better on the water next week when we go.
Speaker 2:We're gonna pop on the water in the bush. You know, you gotta look. Good man, that's what's going on. We we just got some. We just got some feedback here. Hold on, siege. Do we get a pop-up?
Speaker 1:guest here. We got pop-up guests. We got everything going on today in studio. Man, it's gonna be a great episode, my friend okay, listen, let me paint this picture for you.
Speaker 2:We're talking musky today, specifically musky. Okay, we have in studio sitting next to me right now, brother, brother, you know it, siege. Who is it? Mr Davey G? Mr Dave Gray, founder of the Muskie Brawl, established 2014. Davey G, what is happening?
Speaker 5:brother, I never thought I'd be so excited to be in a room with a couple foreskins. To be honest, I love it. Boys, thanks for having me.
Speaker 1:Oh man, Did you know that Davey G was one of the first Eating Wild brand ambassadors that we had?
Speaker 2:Here's the thing when he put the shirt on and he was posting himself with the shirt. Yeah, I'm going to tell you this right now Our logo will never look better. I know, man our logo never looked better. I know it's never looked better, because I can't rock that t-shirt like that it went from superman wearing the logo to to what?
Speaker 1:I don't know what do I say man, I don't even know where I'm going with that one. But yeah, he was our first brand ambassador and now look at it I'll show you guys the eating wild tattoo I got later oh well, listen, man, we're we're excited that you were able to join us here live in studio.
Speaker 2:What brings you to this part of town, brother? Like what? What's happening? I know you're a busy guy. You're the busiest guy we know I am uh, I'm working in the area.
Speaker 5:You guys invited me here, so stepped in for a bit. This is a pretty cool spot here. If no one has ever seen this studio, it's a pretty fancy. I walked in. You were working hard, slaving over the kitchen, yeah.
Speaker 2:I didn't expect. David G walked in and everyone's eyes just glue. They're like who's this guy Just walked in like shining armor. He brought me to the back room secret door.
Speaker 5:You went and saw the secret door Went downstairs and there was a bunch of lights.
Speaker 2:Yeah, nobody knows about that, Not even you, siege.
Speaker 1:I've heard people tell me don't come back from that room. But hey, dave made it.
Speaker 5:Hey, if I don't come back from this room, I'm okay.
Speaker 2:Oh man, Listen, man, we're excited that you're here.
Speaker 1:Second time on the show right.
Speaker 2:Second time on the show Now. People listening probably don't remember Davey G the first time he was on our show, because we were probably, because we were probably I don't know. Wait a minute.
Speaker 1:I'm sorry to interrupt. This is the third time. Third time.
Speaker 2:Oh, it is the third time, because we had you on at the Toronto Sportsman Show. Just a regular now. That's right. Yeah, you are a regular.
Speaker 4:Brand ambassador.
Speaker 2:That's right Payroll. Now I'm broke Siege. I've already given everything I got. Okay, we're here to talk about something really exciting, See.
Speaker 1:I interrupted you. Let's give a little back story on.
Speaker 2:Dave, the back story is the Muskie Brawl established 2014. We've been fishing Lake St Clair probably for the past 15 years us and the Foreskins around the tournament. Hearing about the tournament and how it's grown Siege is beyond me, and we're just super excited to hear about how much it's going to grow and further Siege further.
Speaker 1:So our listeners, the Muskie Brawl, it's a Muskie tournament held on Lake St Clair. We call the factory and it's casting only, and we, as us being casters, we really appreciate some. We'll be trollers one day. Tone, there'll be a day when we'll be trollers and we're not controllers by any means. There's a science to it, it's very technical, but we are junkies when it comes to casting. So anytime we hear casting only tournament for Muskie goosebumps, go up Goosebumps.
Speaker 2:And Dave, again thanks for coming in. You've been on the show a few times and to see where you're going with this brawl, and I'm just excited to announce that we are going to be official 50-inch club sponsors for the Muskie Brawl and I am pumped. We are going to be doing a lot of stuff with these guys. But before we get into that, davey g, we got to hear how, how's the planning going and where are you at right now, because we're close well, you know, a lot of people just see the three days of the brawl.
Speaker 5:They come and join. It's a party for three days. But uh, my partner graham and I we are. We're going non-stop all year round with this. Um, we're talking, bouncing ideas off the wall. We're trying to grow this thing responsibly, but we're also trying to grow this thing too right. So we invite 20, 30, 40 extra guys extra a year. Now we started off the year with was it Graham? 142 people on wait list and we actually contacted all of them. We also contacted all 150 guys from last year. But a lot of people can't afford it. It's an expensive weekend, right. We understand that it's tough times right now. The economy is tough. So we did get quite a few guys return and just a handful of the waitlist guys signed up. So this year we've already surpassed. It's now the largest brawl we've ever had. I think we have about 147 guys signed up right now. I know about 20 other people that will be signing up, so it's going to be massive.
Speaker 1:Wow. Now this Graham guy you mentioned. Rumor has it. This guy's a stick. He's a stick. I've seen him on socials. I've seen him, you know, unleash the beast 2003 or 23, 2003. I don't think it's been a long time. The musky brawl last year, the win. What is it going to take for us to get him on the show?
Speaker 2:How can we get a hold of?
Speaker 1:this guy how can we get a hold of Graham?
Speaker 5:Well, you know what I do? Know his phone number. We can give him a shout right now. Well, listen, wait a minute.
Speaker 1:You have the Angling Adventure on phone number. You have his phone number.
Speaker 5:I do. I do so. Graham and I have been friends since we were babies. Yeah, we've been fishing side by side literally since we were, just since we can hold a rod, and we've been through it all together and we've been fishing these tournaments together. We're doing really well, and just us in the boat. I don't think there's a better vibe. I don't think there's two guys more on the same page as Graham and I. He's my best friend. He's been with me at the brawl the entire time, planning with me side by side, and I couldn't do it without him, to be honest, and I'm happy to have him on today too.
Speaker 2:That's amazing folks. So everyone listening right now. I'd like to introduce Graham. I'm not sure if you can hear us on the other side, but, graham, welcome to the Eating Wild podcast and it's great to have you part of the show today, brother.
Speaker 4:Hey, what's going on, guys? I hear you loud and clear and, yeah, it's a pleasure to be on here. I was just in the middle of a little car repair here out at the folks place, a lovely lakes pier. I'm not sure if you can see in the background, but it's just stunning.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, Look at that Stunning.
Speaker 4:So, yeah, really pumped to be here, though, and let's talk some musky.
Speaker 2:Yeah, brother. So CJ already mentioned, you're an absolute stick. We all know that, and when you and Dave came together and you guys were thinking about this tournament, is this something that you guys created? That was typically I'm going to say more or less for your style of fishing, because we know it's a casting only tournament, which is really cool. How you guys get the shore ninjas involved. We call them shore ninjas, cj and I and Dan and Lou, we've been watching these guys on Lake St Clair smashing musky right off. There's no other place in the world where you see this. So how did you come to, first of all, the rules, the regulations, and was it fit for your style of muskie fishing?
Speaker 4:Yeah, that's a great question there, and the rules and the regulations is a big part of how we've developed this.
Speaker 4:From the get-go, it was pretty relaxed.
Speaker 4:There was like a handful of guys We'd have, like, I think when we first started, it was literally only four boats, a handful of us.
Speaker 4:It was pretty chill and relaxed and we did that kind of for the first few years. And then, you know, word started spreading on and a did that kind of for the first few years and then we, you know, word started spreading on and a few people wanted to get more involved and um, obviously, as you get more people involved, you know, and you definitely have to start drawing a few lines there and and there's uh, and it's always been, we've never had any serious problems, though it's been. We've never had any serious problems, though it's um, but I think I think developing those rules and um, you know, enforcing them is is a, is a big part of that and um, it's, yes, it's definitely helped us, helped us grow, and we're continuing to change things every year. We listen, we love to hear positive feedback from everybody. We also love to hear negative feedback as well, because that helps us as well, right, Right, exactly, go ahead.
Speaker 5:These rules and regulations. They've, you know, we kind of learned along the way too. We accumulated each one specifically right. So when we're putting rules and regulations in on this tournament, we're very careful how we're doing that and we're very careful how we're going to enforce it. But I think our biggest, uh, our biggest challenge a gram is educating everybody on how this thing works. Um, even today, actually this morning, two guys signed up. They go.
Speaker 5:This is my first time hearing about the brawl, this is my first time entering it and I just said, hey, listen, before you go sign up, go read the rules as a casting-only event. You know there's certain check-ins, you can't have certain things in your boat. There's certain ways to fish. You know you have to educate every single person that comes into it. That's why it's very important and this is actually one of the reasons why we invite everyone from the previous year in. Our dream one day is to have this tournament cut off. At what? At 250, 300 people that have been fishing it Right, so incredible. So we don't have to train anymore. You know we will always have new people coming in. We will grow it slowly, but I think, graham and I being responsible and growing this thing slowly has really made it successful, and it also put it where it is today.
Speaker 2:That's incredible. So when it came down to the rules, the regulations were things. Were you guys just improving yearly, Like, basically, you know things that didn't work out in the previous years. You change the rules, you listen to what the people are saying. Like you know, you're welcome criticism with any business. If you don't take criticism, then you're not a professional. With any business, if you don't take criticism, then you're not a professional. So over the years, since 2014, you guys have been improving and that's what's been bringing people's attention to this tournament. Because, boys, it's an event. It's not even the fishing, it's getting out there with the guys, but it's an event. And can you talk about what's happening around Lighthouse Cove and, you know, Bell River, all these different launches by the?
Speaker 5:water. It's, I mean just kind of backtrack there to you know, listening to people's negativity and you know, feedback. I do get calls from locals every year. Right, I just got off the phone with Jessica from the municipality of Lakeshore and she said last year a local called her complaining about littering and a couple other things. And then she said an hour later he called back and said, hey, nevermind, I talked to the guy who runs the tournament and everything's okay. And I know exactly who that was.
Speaker 5:Graham, do you remember that guy I was talking to when I came out of the boat? That one time I just told him. I said hey, I'm here to work with you guys. I'm here to be, you know, working side by side with you locals. I don't want you guys hating us here, because if you start hating us here and start complaining about us, I'll just move this thing to Bell River.
Speaker 5:And he stopped in his tracks. He in his tracks, he goes no, no, no, no, no, let's work through this. Because he knows we're bringing a lot of money into that. Oh, exactly, you know and that's even what Jessica said that from from Lakeshore municipality. There she says you know, this is a great what you guys are doing and we're happy to work side by side with you. That's all we're looking for. We want to work with people. We're not there to cause a ruckus and you know, graham and I are very strict on this thing. We have no problem DQing someone, for, you know, pissing in someone's lawn just the outside of the fishing itself right, we want to have a good crew, we want to be there. You know, running things smoothly, but you know, so that's that.
Speaker 2:That's you see. You got to admit, man, for that many dudes think about it. The boys, we go out and we do our hunting trips, our fishing trips. You know we get reckless, we, we? We have a few drinks. Yeah, the managing that you probably have.
Speaker 1:Oh, man, it's putting up with a lot, of, a lot of people and where I really respect about your guys tournament is the fish handling. Yes, and I really like how you guys have, like, the, you know, the bump boards and, uh, the tanks right by by for the guys that are casting from shore, and you guys thought of everything on it. I mean, go ahead, dave, you wanted to say something Well.
Speaker 5:Graham. Actually he kind of came up with the idea for putting the live walls there. Yeah, and this we're putting extras there. So I'll let Graham talk about that a little bit.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so it's we've, and it's not just, you know, it's not dave and I, it's like the whole musky community, right. Like we all. Right, we all talk amongst each other. We're like all in all the same groups, all the same tournaments together, and we you know someone you know runs an idea by by me or dave, or, and you know we like we talk about it and then you know you hear a couple ideas repeat themselves over and over again. You're like, okay, well, maybe that's something we should, you know, look into adding to the rules, or you know something that we could do to to improve the way, uh, we run the tournament, right. So I think it's, um, that's, that's a huge help that way, right, talking about stuff like that.
Speaker 4:And this year I think we're gonna, uh, we're actually gonna put a couple more live balls out there, because you know, like someone had mentioned to us, you're like we have one live wall tank there and you know three guys hook a fish at once. It's not uncommon, right. You have, you know, 20, 30 guys casting and four people hook up at the same time. You get like a major window there and you know all the guys are trying to share the same live wall. So I was like, okay, so something like that would be definitely. Uh, you're gonna see a lot more of that, but they're this year a lot more. Um, live wall tanks and just another example of how, like you know, you get that. You get that feedback by, you know, talking to people in the tournament as well, right?
Speaker 1:and do you also have, um, do you have, uh, rubber mats when they um, when they have? Because I've noticed with your tournament, you never see these muskie flopping around on gravel. That's a DQ, yeah, so I've seen that, like when they're doing the length of the fish. Do you have like some kind of rubber, like a mat or something like that, or are they just putting it straight on a bump art?
Speaker 5:So we do straight to the live. Well, but last year we had three or four mats laid out there and those were the casters. They let us know they're putting them there. So me and Graham kind of stepped back, let them do their own thing. But we have the live walls there and I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of people listening to this. We'll be posting it on our socials from the brawl.
Speaker 5:We've been hearing you guys. We will be making changes this year with check-ins. We actually hired two people for the Lighthouse Coast check-in, because in the morning, you know, it's 6 to 10 am for check-in, right, there's a big line of guys and everyone wants to get out there fishing. Everyone's in a rush. You have one person hopping in the boat checking, making sure everything's all clean, good to go. But this year we did hire extra help, so hopefully things go a little more smooth there on the check-ins too. So don't worry guys, we hear you, we're fixing it and it should be a really good show. This year we're expecting a big turnout. I mean right now we're sitting at 100, with the people I know, at least 160 people I'm sure we'll get an extra 40. We're cutting it off at 200 this year. But yeah, we're excited. It's going to be a really good time.
Speaker 5:Tina from Lighthouse Co is Jack. She got double the staff. She has live music coming in every single night. We'll have you guys there set up. We'll be doing a podcast. It's going to be a scene.
Speaker 1:Well, I know for a fact that you guys are doing a great job for the community because last year we had our Muskie trip the weekend after you guys were there and the restaurants had no chicken wings left, very low beer left. The tackle shop only had walleye gear left. There was no. There was no big rubber baits. There was none of the some like even the booze at the corner store where they were like we're drinking twisted teas and margaritas this weekend, boys damn you, gram and dave, we can't even get chicken wings.
Speaker 1:And you know the owner was laughing with us and she's really cool. Shout out to Tina.
Speaker 1:Yeah, really cool, but you guys are putting on such a great thing going and it's so easy for anyone, I think, just to do a fly-by-night tournament. You know, you hear about these, like you know, boat launch tournaments and the fact that you guys are taking in what the town has to say, the input, the fish handling and then all the rules. I know you guys are going to be searching boats and making sure you know there's no fish in there before, or checking to see if there's trolling rods in there and, let's face it, it's like I mean, I don't know how much is it to enter your $250 per guy.
Speaker 5:$250 per guy Up to three people in a boat, and we have the shore guys $250 per guy. We're going to have check-ins at all the casting area, all the lighthouse cove casting area as well. Yeah, I mean it's not crazy expensive.
Speaker 2:I was going to say it's not that bad. It's not that bad.
Speaker 1:Considering what you can win what you can win, so you have a big fish, correct?
Speaker 5:We have two first and second big fish. We're going to do one through four again, like last year, unless we do fill out 200, we might open a fifth and we might have a little extra, something going on we're talking about. We haven't announced that yet, we don't want to make any promises. But then again, at the closing ceremony, me and Graham are throwing cash around everywhere. We usually keep three or $4,000. So $1,000 increments and we just pick a number and call it that number Jesus.
Speaker 1:Guys, I'm a business guy, I'm a sales guy. Yeah, okay, I'm doing the math of how many entries and then your payouts. You guys aren't making a lot of money. We're not making any, I'm not chirping you for it, but like I mean, those are great payouts.
Speaker 5:So listen, you know everyone's like oh, how can we thank you guys? Thank us by buying a sweater, buying some merch. That's how grandma and I, you know, pay for our weekend. So you know, get in there, order a hoodie. All the entry fees they go to running the tournament. We have to pay people. You know, we have extra drones in the sky this year. We have extra people at check-ins. We have all this stuff going on. That costs money, but we always want to have, you know, the initial idea for this entire tournament.
Speaker 5:I remember I was with Matt in Mitchell's Bay and I said why isn't there a casting tournament? I can win a bunch of money in why? You know, I thought it was something else back then. I wanted something to enter and win some money. So that's exactly what me and Graham are doing. We, you know, we're paying out heavy. We pay, yeah, great. We have a big stack of checks there and people are coming up and winning cash and it's awesome. You have these guys that you know they're just. They're just dude. They don't have a boat, they're fishing offshore. They just won $8,000 and their face is is like what the fuck, we ran into the weekend.
Speaker 1:We went in after your bra last year. We were by the shore and we're talking to the guys and this guy goes yeah, I just won like third place. I think remember he won third place. I'm like, well, what did that get you? You know like 500 bucks and a trucker hat. And he goes no, actually like four Gs or something. I'm like you didn't have to tow a boat here, you don't have to pay boating insurance. You know you came and that's the best lake to have it.
Speaker 5:How many other lakes have you seen, where you can catch these lakes from a kayak? I said this at Unleash the Beast last weekend. I said if me, graham and I threw this on Georgian Bay or Nipissing, we would probably get stabbed in our sleep.
Speaker 4:You know the locals would be after us burning out down our houses, and you know lake st clair is an absolute circus. Anyways. Right, you guys know this off there. Sorry, I don't mean to intrude, but I am on a sliver of a battery here, so if I cut out, just you know, keep going, but yeah yeah, no problem, we got you brother, no problem find a charger, but uh, I don't think there's anything around here, so just just so.
Speaker 1:I Well before, just in case we lose Graham, I want to talk to him a little bit about Unleash the Beast. Both of you guys went. This is your second year you guys have been in that tournament, yeah this is our second year, so that was where's this tournament? The French river, the French river.
Speaker 4:They, they held it uh, they hosted that uh Shadi lodge um as well. So there's, I think there's about uh, what is the day about? 40, 50 guys or maybe some more.
Speaker 5:Yeah, maybe 50, 60.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and they they split us up with lodgers and we go from there and uh, um, uh, craig and terry, they're the. They're the owners of. Uh. Craig owns, uh uh, chaudier, and then terry's the the the guy to go to there at the uh tilted to most excellent host like I. I have nothing but good to say about our stays there. They always like make sure we're taken care of and you know, well fed, and it's just yeah, it's a great environment to be in with all the guys come out there and just Toddy and the gang.
Speaker 1:They really put on a really good tournament there, so we definitely so when you guys are fishing, are you primarily doing the mostly the French, or are you going into Nipissing at all?
Speaker 5:Nipissing.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah. So it was funny. When we first started fishing there, our first time there, dave and I came there. We, you know, our first time fishing this body of water ever. It's huge, it's intimidating, right. Like you know, you travel down that river, even if you're just heading to the lake. It's like you know, about a half hour run out there in your boat and we're we're clipping out there and and so you know, we started fishing some spots in the river, started picking apart the lake and just basically kind of trying to narrow down this huge system of water.
Speaker 4:And I think over time it's something like that, like years ago, to kind of be really intimidating, but we just kind of, if you think about it, it's not really that intimidating, it's kind of it's very simple. If you think about it, it's not really that intimidating. It's kind of um, it's, it's very simple. If you think about a lot of people try to over complicate musky fishing, I think. But they're a fish just like any other fish, right? They? They need food, they need a good, good, ambush spot. So if you find a spot where lots of walleye are, lots of bass, are lots of perch are, you're going to find musky, right?
Speaker 4:so you know, you kind of break it down like that and it, you know, narrows things down a lot more in a big body like that.
Speaker 1:That's amazing man that's. And you guys always put tips out too. I've used your tips. I've used the weights on the you know the bulldogs or a big weight guy putting the weights on the medusas and all that stuff. I love that and the fact you're getting that in the water column. I wish I thought about that years ago. I probably would have bought a lot more fish.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, we're hitting bottom. We're fishing shoals out there adjacent to deep water and you know we're banging the bottom, getting those big lazy ones that are sitting down there.
Speaker 1:I really, truly believe that the fattest ones are always on the bottom, and I can speak for this because they always have the lamprey marks on them. So you know the lampreys aren't really swimming up high to get them. Those fat cows are sitting on the bottom lamprey marks and all that stuff.
Speaker 5:You fish Detroit and you know any other system that has current in it. Those big ones are sitting right in the bottom and their bottom belly is just full of lamprey marks. They'll shake them off pretty quickly. I mean, you know that's where they are. So how did you guys do this year? How did you guys make out? Well, good question. I mean we went in pretty hot. Graham, of course, hit a nice fish right off the hop.
Speaker 4:He was in the lead for a little. Here he comes, Win it again.
Speaker 5:I was rooting for Graham Graham. He won both Unleash the Beast and the Muskie Brawl last year and it would be pretty cool to see him do it again. But we came short. We pulled a lot of fish off these shoals and we saw a lot of fish. We had a lot of fish on, but just the one. I think we saw what 20, 21 fish gram probably total in the whole week.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it was, uh, it was more of a uh, it felt like more of a muskie viewing weekend. We were just up kicking back and watching muskies, you know, swim around the boat quite a bit. It seemed to be a one of one of those trips and, um, but I'm I'm glad that you know we didn't win first place because I, I think, maybe, think, maybe I got some of my friends back now, so I'm happy.
Speaker 2:I can only imagine what it's like. The boys come out and they're like are they happy to see Graham and?
Speaker 1:Davey G show up.
Speaker 2:Or they're like oh, here comes the Whisperer boys.
Speaker 1:I would love to know more about with you guys. You say you're friends since we're your babies. So you guys, where's the home roots for you boys?
Speaker 5:We're right in Lake Superior in Ghouli River in Hayden, ontario. Oh man, we were literally born and raised together. We were homeschooled most of our lives growing up. So during the day we would bike to each other's houses and go brook trout fishing, we would go bass fishing whatever we can get our hands on. What about hunting? You guys pop? Oh, my goodness, graham, we have so many stories for you about hunting, graham and I. It's hilarious, we've been small game hunting, big game hunting, everything together. I remember during we used to go to church every Sunday. Growing up we used to bring our guns.
Speaker 4:Oh, my goodness.
Speaker 5:Our pellet guns. We were like nine, ten years old and we'd go during there's like a little break in between. We would run behind the church it's full of rabbits and we would shoot them, but the pellet gun would just injure them. So they're screaming and bleeding everywhere, oh boy. And we would come back into the church for like the prayer time or whatever it was. We would just be covered in blood. A bunch of dead rabbits in the back of the car. You know, that's how we kind of grew up. We grew up in the middle of nowhere, right?
Speaker 1:So you guys are big wild game. I've talked to Graham a couple of times over socials and he's always posting really good recipes and it seems like he's consuming a lot of wild game. But you guys are big time like game guys, like wild game food.
Speaker 5:Yeah, Graham and I, we always share an idea. Graham's, I would say, pioneers it in between the two of us. He gets good at canning and he shows me how to do it. He's right into that. He eats everything. He's eating the heart and he sends me these weird tongue photos all the time. He's ripping them out. Oh wow, he eats everything. But I mean the wild game thing that's kind of part of our lives growing up.
Speaker 4:Yeah, for sure. And it started off like, I think, when we were younger, like we'd you know, we'd eat bear, we'd eat moose and things like that, just kind of growing up a lot of rabbits, right, obviously, all the rabbits we shot at church. We had to eat those. And I remember when I was, when I was very young, before that, my, I would always go when I first got, like when I first got a pellet gun and I would shoot, like I would shoot little birds, I'd shoot squirrels. And I came back home and my, my, uh, my mom said to me she said, graham, she's like, you can shoot stuff, she's like, but you gotta eat what you shoot.
Speaker 4:Okay, yeah, the next night I was doing up a nice big pot of chickadee chipmunks, some carrots. I had a nice big soup going there. So I was eating wild game from a pretty young age, I guess, and then it just kind of carried over until we got older. So I was still doing the same thing. I tried to eat as much food that I know where it comes from and I think that's super important to me. And, yeah, and Dave as well. Like you know, like we've always went on big bear hunts, deer hunts. Like just grew up and it was. We're always good to have people like your dad, pete, there and and other people like and other people kind of get a start in that direction, and my mom for letting me shoot chickadees and squirrels, yeah.
Speaker 1:It's so funny you say that because everyone starts with those Red Ryder BB guns. You know what I mean. And then you get the crack the break barrel one. We were serious about this.
Speaker 5:I mean I had my Pelican dialed where I was like sniping morning duds off the power line from like 100 feet away. That's crazy. We had scopes on them, we would just spend hours, we just had those things dialed right in.
Speaker 1:It's just, I think we're all kind of it's in us. Do you know what I mean? Like I had both four BB guns as a kid and I didn't grow up where you guys were. You know a smaller town, but I went away on a trip and I came back and my dad went to look for my BB guns and I'm like, where's my BB guns? All the neighbors in the neighborhood came to my parents' house. They all had holes in their bird feeders and all that stuff. So I got all my guns taken away from me at a young age. But then I got it. But then I had to learn. You know, I had to learn the thing. But it's just, it's something in that young boy mentality. I think we all start that way.
Speaker 5:Well, we were like we were redneck, redneck Like we. When we got our first crack barrel, 12 gauges, we used to put all of our winter stuff on, all of our ski stuff on and a bunch of goggles, yeah, and the the rule was you have to be at least 50 feet away. We'd go out there with like seven and a half, eight and a half birdshot. We'd shoot at each other with 12 gauge. You know we'd be running through the bush, just oh you got me and you would have all your snow like your heavy snow stuff on this, all our heavy snow stuff on, like layers of it.
Speaker 1:Oh my.
Speaker 5:God, that's hilarious.
Speaker 1:It was it.
Speaker 4:You were smart, yeah, very smart, those. We learned some, uh, learned some lessons, that's for sure. It was funny that story you're telling about getting your bb guns taken away. I remember, yeah, I remember, the first time I had my first bb gun ban. Um, you remember our friend chris olar dave, that we always used to chum, oh yeah, and one time we were in a we were having a little bb gun fight. You know, we thought it was like, you know, as long as we don't shoot them in the eyes, it's all good. And then I think it's what happened is I shot him in the hand and he had to go to surgery, and then my dad, and then it was like, yeah, it's like your privileges are revoked for I think it was like over a year.
Speaker 1:That was my life like not having, like not having my BB gun right. Yeah, bb guns and firecrackers. I think every young boy has to at least entertain those things at one point of their time.
Speaker 5:Well, going back, you know, I mean all this stuff, Graham and I growing up running the brawl I think Graham just cut out there, that's okay, that's all right. But I mean Graham and I have been working side by side with more than just the brawl. Right, we have businesses outside. We have a couple of businesses together as well that we have to talk about all the time and make ideas and make it work.

Speaker 3:Hi everybody. I'm Angelo Viola and I'm Pete Bowman. Now you might know us as the hosts of Canada's Favorite Fishing Show, but now we're hosting a podcast. That's right. Every Thursday, ang and I will be right here in your ears bringing you a brand new episode of Outdoor Journal Radio. Hmm, now, what are we going to talk about for two hours every week? Well, you know there's going to be a lot of fishing.
Speaker 1:I knew exactly where those fish were going to be and how to catch them, and they were easy to catch, yeah, but it's not just a fishing show.
Speaker 3:We're going to be talking to people from all facets of the outdoors, from athletes, All the other guys would go golfing Me and Garth and Turk and all the Russians would go fishing To scientists. But now that we're reforesting and laying things free.
Speaker 1:It's the perfect transmission environment for life.
Speaker 2:To chefs If any game isn't cooked properly, marinated, you will taste it.
Speaker 3:And whoever else will pick up the phone Wherever you are. Outdoor Journal Radio seeks to answer the questions and tell the stories of all those who enjoy being outside. Find us on spotify, apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts welcome back folks.
Speaker 2:Welcome back dave, davey g. You were saying you guys, you know, bringing your pellet guns to church. That was, uh, that's pretty crazy, you guys. You guys grew up together at such a young age and you know, obviously, hunted and fished and consumed and there's probably tons of stories you guys have together.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I mean, you guys know my brothers. You guys follow my brothers on social media. Graham is a brother as well. I've spent just as much time with Graham as my own brothers. So it's you know, he's definitely family. We know exactly what's going on, you know. We know exactly what each other's thinking. You know on. We know exactly what each other's thinking. We have photos of us in a sink together when we're like babies. So running businesses, running the brawl together, has worked out amazing Because we talk about things, we run things by each other, we do that, so it works out perfect.
Speaker 2:Well, we're hoping to get him back on soon. I think his battery died, but he should be joining us back very shortly. Back to the brawl, if we can. So you're saying you got possibly 200 anglers and you're saying you amped up your check-ins as well, right?
Speaker 5:So we amped up the check-ins, we amped up the drones in the sky. I mean we can follow you out there 10 kilometers with those things. So Canadian waters only, which I get asked often by Americans. A lot of the Americans they launch in the States and they come over. But the number one question is okay, well, I can't touch ground over there, we can still do a check-in. If you just kind of pull your boat up and we ask you to open your live, well, we ask you to show us what's in your boat. What Check-in? If you just kind of pull your boat up and we ask you to open your live, well, we ask you to show us what's in your boat. What we're doing is we're just looking to see if there's any hidden muskies. You know people get weird when there's a lot of money on the table.
Speaker 5:Yeah, yeah yeah, we have, you know, watching out for all the trolling gear, the rod holders, the trolling rods really, you are allowed to toss trolling baits, which line. A lot of people do that. But I mean, this year is going to be huge. We got a lot, a lot going on. We have a lot of a lot of work to do still, but it's looking fun and we're excited to have you guys on. I mean, I've known you guys for a couple of years now. I've known Chris for quite a while, and the fact that you guys are stepping it up and being our sponsors I'm super excited about Graham. I can't wait to tell you what they're going to be doing for us. He just showed me some things and I'll let you guys talk about what you're going to do with the brawl.
Speaker 1:This is Antonio's department. Go there, master Chief, tell us what we're doing.
Speaker 2:Smash. Malek is putting his chef jacket on. He's keeping the rods in the boat. I won't be of the brawl. We will be setting up a live podcast. Hopefully Tina's cool with it we haven't talked to her yet, but I'm sure she won't have a problem with it. But we're going to be doing live podcasts at the restaurant on the weekend.
Speaker 2:Yes, we're going to be interviewing people that have been on the water, maybe even some shore ninjas I'd love to talk to shore ninjas man, because they must be different breeds Like imagine sitting down next to a shore ninja guy who casts, you know, bulldogs off the shore. You know, at the same spot, the same area, year after year, and we got thousands and thousands of dollars worth of boats and gear. Anyways, we're going to be interviewing people from the brawl. We're going to have the GCC eating wild food truck by lighthouse Cove Say what? Yes, brother, we're, we're driving, we're. Listen, man, did you ever watch where the Millers this is where the yeah this is.
Speaker 2:you're going to be right next to me, buddy, we're going down. We're going down the 401 in the food truck.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:We're going to pop up at lighthouse Cove. We're going to be there. In the morning I got huge. Listen, man, if you're a fisherman in this tournament and you don't stop by the Eating Wild food truck, you have a problem, because we're going to be giving away t-shirts. We're giving away. Wait a minute. Have you ran the budget by me? I haven't even talked to the other guys.
Speaker 1:Don't care, okay, roll with it.
Speaker 2:Okay, this is what's going on. This is what we're doing. We're going to be giving away T-shirts, mugs, to fill up your coffee, boys. Before you get into your boats, come by, fill up that cup. We're going to have beautiful Lavazza coffee to fill up. We're going to be giving away only for the anglers folks. This is for the anglers you got to be. Davey G's and the Graham are going to have to know that these guys are in the tourney. Breakfast Breakfast is on the house, boys, breakfast is coming from the E-Dub crew and you might get Showtime Johnson serving it to you.
Speaker 1:I don't know. Are you going to be up, bud? Am I the eye candy? That's what.
Speaker 2:I'm doing. I'm going to be behind the scenes. You're going to be handing the food out to the guys. You're going to be talking to my. See, you're gonna listen. Every, like davey g said earlier, yeah, that morning, of no matter how hard you partied that night before, yeah, when you get there, you see all the people, the sun is rising, you're at the check-in.
Speaker 1:Your blood is boiling, brother and there's nothing better we all know as fishermen and outdoorsmen to have that protein in you. You know what I mean and you.
Speaker 2:How many times do we wake up late? We're like we, oh my God, we don't have a sandwich for the. So, listen, you could take your sandwich. I'm not even saying it's a sandwich. Listen, it's not a sandwich. It could be a sandwich. What am I saying? I don't know yet. I got lots of samples coming in, let them cook.
Speaker 2:Shit's coming into the shop every day and I got Use everyone as my test dummies. What'd you guys think of this? What'd you think of that? And things are going. I've been sending you pictures. You're a scientist.
Speaker 1:He's a scientist, I'm going crazy here, folks.
Speaker 2:So we're going to incorporate some sort of wild game. It's going to be local Again. We are teaming up with our sponsors, the Butcher Shop, who's going to be providing us with so much awesome stuff to give away. Talking about tomahawk steaks, we're going to have ribeyes, bacon-wrapped fillets. We're going to be like Oprah Siege we're going to be throwing shit out the window.
Speaker 5:Now, like I said before, a lot of locals will be around, so I mean, bring extra Charge those guys, and I'll be posting this podcast on all the Lighthouse Cove and all the surrounding area Facebook pages. So, if you're listening, come out during the brawl. November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Come to the casting platform at Lighthouse Cove and get yourself a nice meal from a five-star chef.
Speaker 2:Yes, brother, and I'm telling you right now it's going to be five-star, and if you catch a bit, listen.
Speaker 3:I'm making my own rules right now.
Speaker 4:Oh boy.
Speaker 1:Here we go. Any of the short ninjas, catch a fish. You come over.
Speaker 2:Graham, write this down, okay, okay I'm just kidding man, I'm just getting out his pen, here we go listen, I I gotta be honest with you guys, man. Like how amazing is it where you can, you know, not think about your refreshment and your food in the morning? All you got to do is just show up. You're a part of something special here in the musky brawl the fact that we can be a part of this each week.
Speaker 1:This is our privilege for us to be a part of it, because we've, we've I felt like we've known you guys. I've been following graham, I've been following dave matt all for so long now. Man, it's, it's a small community, it's a big community, but it's small at the same time. And, uh, the fact that we can help out and we know a lot of anglers that are going to be in there too, so I'm going to place some side bets on who I? We have a whole bookie system, by by the way, you didn't tell you, dave, there's odds on different anglers. So, yeah, there's side money.
Speaker 2:If you come to the Eating Wild House it might be coming into like a scene from Goodfellas, where you see Siege in a corner with a big cigar. Yeah, lou's cutting garlic with a. What are those? Those? Little razor blades yeah.
Speaker 1:I'm blades. Yeah, I'm in the back eating a salami sandwich. You might have live up to dates who just got this fish and all that.
Speaker 5:We're into this man, we're into this, anything we can do for you boys. We got some. It's great. We got some big names coming in this year. I mean to highlight that topic. We got a lot of people coming in now that are, you know, big names on saint claire, and just not even saint claire, just the musky game in itself. Right, you know, you got youtubers coming in and if we do reach our capacity, you might see us open maybe a $500,000 prize for the girl who gets the largest muskie on the whole weekend. You know, because we are seeing a lot of female anglers.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about that because on our show on the Eating Wild we've had some of the best hunter huntress girls in the outdoors, fishermen or fisherwomen. And do you have a lot of female anglers in your brawl?
Speaker 5:We do. I mean we have a couple dozen each year coming. I know a couple good sticks coming in this year. I mean there's a lot of competition this year and sometimes it's nice to have that little bit of a you know.
Speaker 1:What about the young lady that just won the Unleash the Beast? Is she going to be there?
Speaker 5:Was it a winner? Uh, you know chelsea and nick, they are big hunters, oh okay, oh yeah, and it's moose season. I know those guys are packed up and they're out of here. So, yeah, one thing about the brawl is is it actually lands on just before most hunting seasons? Right, right, right. So it does work out. We've always talked about maybe having it later, but you know, then you have the risk of uh icing up. Yeah, the last three or four years have been warm out there, and this year it looks like it might be the same. Who knows, you never know. It's the first weekend of November every year and I think we're going to keep it that way.
Speaker 1:So do you think the winning fish in the last couple of years is obviously being coming off? Rubber, rubber baits. Right, let's be honest.
Speaker 5:Well, it's the top three, right? So I mean the one thing about Lake St Clair and a lot of people chirp Lake St Clair, I know, but the fall it's like a salmon run where we're fishing and everyone's in Thames and everyone is catching fish. So you have these big name guides that are entering this year. Everyone thinks they're going to win, but you still have to catch three long fish. It's the top three length fish. So I mean, sitting in the thames river mouth, you have good odds yeah anyway, the shore guys place every single year.
Speaker 5:That's why the shore game is so big.
Speaker 4:The shore guys do. The shore guys do amazing. That's awesome. That's awesome. You're saying that thing about rubber baits too, and it's like I noticed a lot of guys. They they were doing well on those sibyls last year, oh right yeah, those, what are the big?
Speaker 1:the hard swim baits right or gram those ones. Yeah, they're like a big hard jointed.
Speaker 4:Yes, yeah, like like something I would throw salt water like for, like, gt or something like that, like that. I feel like it's very similar to something like that. I would never think to you know, you know, use it for musky. But yeah, guys are pitching there and they're, they're slapping them there on short like they're. You know just as much competition as the guys out on the boat every year.
Speaker 1:I love that man. There always seems to be lsc. The amount of time we've been fishing, antonio, I and the other two. There's always that one bait that is new bait that's clicking. You know the rover, you know, obviously, the og water wolf. Speaking of new baits, that's where I'm going with this, my man. So, so you got, and then bondy, you know, and then you got, uh, kyle, moxon's bait, the restless rider. And then so I hear down the pipeline antonio was telling me something in my car right here that there might be something new Go ahead boys.
Speaker 2:Is it fake news? I don't know. You told me, tony. I'm excited. It could be fake news, I don't know.
Speaker 5:So we got Absolutely Go ahead, Graham.
Speaker 4:Yeah, sure, yeah. So I was on the phone with Mr Nabolsky the other day of Waterwolf Lures and there's something that's coming and I keep bugging him every day. It's like can I tell everyone? Can I tell everyone?
Speaker 5:Oh man.
Speaker 4:So soon you'll hear some big news from Waterwolf Lures coming out, so you're going to have to stay tuned for that, I guess.
Speaker 2:You're going to have to come to the brawl. You're going to have to come to the brawl right.
Speaker 5:Where's this news being broken, Graham?
Speaker 4:And you'll have to. For the news you'll have to tune into our Facebook page or our Instagram page and follow Musky Brawl. I know a lot of you guys out there are already on that, but if you're not, get on there. If you're excited about new, exciting things, whether you're in the brawl or not, also a bunch, also some good news there.
Speaker 2:So, yeah, just uh, I guess, tune in and wait and see, but I'm gonna tell you right now. So we're talking mike waterwolf, we're talking let's go back almost 20 years each. Okay, because hook set. Martins was the first one to throw the jailbird, yeah, okay, I thought he was on crack throwing that bait. We're on lake nipissing. I'm like this guy baked out of his mind, he's throwing this 12 inch shadzilla. There I am with my double eights. I'm like this guy's not getting nothing. What are you using? You know what way martins is. He was, yeah, we've talked about it on this podcast many times.
Speaker 2:Hooks into that 44-inch pike changed my life. We went out, we went and saw Mike at the Toronto Sportsman Show when he used to go. He used to go, yeah, and buddy, we all we went nuts and it changed. It changed musky fishing. For me, because you mentioned, it's that one bait there. For me, because you mentioned, it's that one bait, there's always one, there's always that one bait. And every year, for me, my personal best was a 52. Yeah, and it was on a Shadzilla walleye. But then, year after year, it went from Tennessee Shad, white perch, black perch, new color comes out. So you know, you have so many of these guys that are like you mentioned Kyle Moxon.
Speaker 2:Like this tournament is going to be the pickle point for everybody involved. You got the Shadzillas, you got big time guides coming in. I got to ask Graham this question Can you even focus on the tournament itself? I know you've won the tournament, but can you even focus on is your mind going to flip over when you hit your boat and next thing you know you get to your spot and, by the way, I think I've seen you camp down in front of that willow tree a few times. Am I not starting to fight here? Am I? Is that you, graham?
Speaker 4:I may have parked there.
Speaker 1:That's such a clutch spot, that spot is so good man.
Speaker 2:Are you in game mode, brother? Are you ready to pop?
Speaker 4:Yeah. So the thing is we've talked about this before, dave and I coming into this week, and it's always we have so much on the go and we're like trying to organize everything, answer questions, get things ready, make a game plan and and deal with everything that's going on. But at the same time you got to get into game mode, like, and you got to start visualizing those big fish coming in and you know, get, get your mindset ready, right to focus. And it's a struggle, sometimes juggling the two, and maybe sometime in the future maybe we'll focus a little bit more on the tournament and focusing on just growing this and making it better. But the goal has always been for us the original plan was go out, growing this and making it better. And but yeah, the goal has always been for us, it has always been to. The original plan was go out, make a bunch of money. You know, like biggest fish catches money and always got us pumped up and that's what you know. You know people, people are going to hate right.
Speaker 4:They're like oh you run the tournament and you won it and I was like, yeah, I was like that's why we made the tournament, so you go there and win money yeah, we have, we have.
Speaker 5:We have a good system too, gram. I mean gram and I, we fish hard all day. Yeah, we're taking phone calls all day long, like our phones are on the dash and I'm cast and I'm answering hey, can I enter the fish this way? You know you're answering questions and you're helping people with issues all day long while you're fishing. It's really busy, but gram and I do.
Speaker 5:At the end of the day we go back to our Airbnb, we crack open a beer, we sit side by side and we open up the app and we have to approve everyone's entries, right, oh man, so that's the hard part, because some people don't enter it properly when we've been teaching the other whole week leading up to the tournament, and that's when we deduct a point or deduct an inch, or we actually dequeue the whole fish in itself. You know we get evil phone calls but hey, listen, everyone's paying $2.50 each. We're running a tight ship here and Graham and I have a really good routine now where we just go back, we approve all the fish and then we go out to the bar and we party. So you know it is work for us. At the end of the day, it is a lot of work for us at the end of the day, but, uh, this is what we signed up for, this is what we've always, uh, dreamed of doing, and and here we are let's talk about the app.
Speaker 1:Is it fish donkey? You guys use it's fish donkey, yeah. So if tone's in it, so he catches a good fish, so any fish, any musky, so he takes a picture of it and it gets time stamped and everything on the app.
Speaker 5:Yes, so we have ways of entering the fish. The back has to be against the wall, the rigid board, right mouth closed, against the the back. Yeah, you could pinch the tail whatever, as long as you're over top of it, we can see that fish. Okay, and we can really zoom in, because you can. We can zoom in, we can see what's going on there, and we do. We can tell instantly if you've taken a photo off someone else's phone. I mean, we've had guys and big name guys text me a video and a bunch of photos. I'm like hey, man, a nice fish, congratulations, he goes.
Speaker 5:Well, I don't know how to use the app. I'm like okay, well, keep the fish in the net, I'll walk you through already. Let it go. Yeah, I'm buddy, I can't do this. I can't like you know, I know you're my buddy, but uh, you know, we're all playing on the same level here and that's the way it is. We, we do have, we do have uh, tough conversations, um, which I'm good at, you know which is no problem, but that's how we're running the tournament.
Speaker 1:So I noticed before you guys, could the contestants or the people in the tournament could fish all through the night, like 24 hours. Is it still the same case?
Speaker 5:Great question. We get this argument every year from shore guys. A lot of guys love to night fish Right, but as you guys know, fishing lake st claire, snagging fish is a huge issue. We have this, uh, we have this thing going. It's been going on for about six, seven years. Whenever someone snags a fish, everyone starts chanting shame, shame, shame the whole, entire channel's chanting that.
Speaker 5:So it you know. I mean it's hard to uh not sn fish there, but everyone's watching you got eyes everywhere, no matter where you are. Like I was fishing the lake last year, I placed fifth and I caught most of my fish out in the lake, in the green water. I wanted to kind of be away from the crowd, so everyone's saying you have to be in the Thames. You don't. You can go out and still do well. But why we cut the night fishing is because you know if you snag a fish in the middle of the night no one would ever know.
Speaker 5:You can put a bait on with a bunch of huge trebles and start ripping that around and you're catching fish and snagging them by the tail and entering them. That's not good, right. So we cut it down. It turned into a real tournament real fast. Right Before it was just a bunch of us buddies, I mean there was 30, 40 of us and we all knew each other. It was all fair game, this and that. Now we're dealing with hundreds of people. So you got to have some strict rules. So we're doing it from six to I think it was six to six. So there's 12 hours there where you can fish right In the light but yeah, in the morning it's still dark a little bit, but when we rip those horns off it's pretty cool. I can't wait to see this. It's pretty wild seeing, uh, you know, 150 baits hit the water at the same time. It's just the sound. You don't hear anything else. No one's talking, everyone's in game mode, zoned right in. Everyone's casting around all year it's wild.
Speaker 1:Another question I have for you I'm for some reason tiger musky, love my baits. I catch a lot of good tiger musky. Could I enter a tiger muskyky? Could I enter a tiger musky into?
Speaker 5:this. You can enter a tiger musky in this. We were actually Graham and I were having a conversation where we actually might put another $500 to $1,000 in the side for the biggest tiger musky of the weekend Tone.
Speaker 2:That's cool you would have won that five years in a row. Tone, let me off.
Speaker 1:Let me off my shift of serving food man. Didn't you just lose a tiger with Cody? Yeah, and I've popped a 48 before and it's I love. For some reason, the tigers always find my bait and I love them. I just love them. And yeah, that's cool, you can do tigers Wow.
Speaker 5:Yeah, so I mean we might have a little extra. You know, cash on the side Depends how many people we have, right? So everyone's asking me every day hey, what's the payout this year? We won't know until cutoff date, which is usually two weeks prior to the tournament. Okay, and then everyone gets pumped. That's incredible man.
Speaker 2:I have a question for you, dave. So you have the Shore Ninjas and you're going to have guys fishing from shore at Bell River as well. Right, correct. So there's going to be obviously people check-ins at different parts. Where are the boundaries on Lake St Clair, or can you absolutely fish this thing anywhere?
Speaker 5:Nope, great question. So Canadian waters only. Okay, so that's basically half the lake, and in the rules we actually have as far down as I forget what the island is called in Detroit there. It's not that far, but it still hits all the primo spots. And then we have up the St Clair River to a certain area as well. All this stuff is in the rules and regulations. You can read up on that. But other than that Canadian water, you're free to go in the lake anywhere.
Speaker 5:And we, what we do is in the morning. So I have guys on payroll with the drones and I say one guy stays local and you charge those batteries and anyone you see start ripping across the lakes, follow them, just so you can kind of see where they are and the area they are, and that way we can kind of go over there. We can hover the drones over Tapia and we have a sticker you have to put on top of your motor so we can see it from the sky, so we're not just hovering over random boats. So we have, we give you three stickers in the morning at your first check-in. You put one on the top and you put one on either side of your motor. That way we can tell who's where and who's in the brawl right. That's incredible one time.
Speaker 1:Uh, we were there during one of your brawls. It was maybe second year. One year you had the drones. Anyways, we weren't entered into your tournament. So I was fishing. I was with either Tone or Luis. I get one. All of a sudden, I'm here.
Speaker 2:I was with me. I'm like I was with me. What's going on, man? I'm like what's going on?
Speaker 1:And it hovers right down. And then I'm thinking, man, like am I famous right now? This is my moment. And then I realized the tournament was going on. I think I checked for a sticker on the boat and then just didn't see one and then split, yeah, and I was just like what was that?
Speaker 5:It's pretty cool, yeah, because people are always like, hey, how do you know if someone's cheating?
Speaker 1:Yeah that's impressive, man Wow.
Speaker 5:We have. You know, like I said, graham and I don't make any money off of the pay-in right, so we take a lot of money off the top. We pay who we have to pay to make it nice and secure and there's no cheating. I mean we haven't had any cheating issues yet. You know, fingers crossed, knock on wood, yeah, but you know let's got eyes on each other.
Speaker 1:That's what I was going to say, muskie guys are very.
Speaker 2:you know they'll be vocal. Yeah, you know it's a tight community. Oh, buddy, and like, look what I went through salmon fishing all those years. I mean look what it's come to now. You got people netting fish and you're people walking on rivers and we talked about this last episode. I won't get fired up again, but I think the muskie community is different, so you go to.
Speaker 5:You go to these tournaments and these events, like I just came back from unleash the beast and you know, it's just the. The community is amazing. We all know each other. You know we're all kind of doing the same thing. We're all there for the same reason. Um, you know, whether you're a female or male, we're all there for the exact same reason. We want to get that bite. We're addicted to it. We grind hard At Unleash the Beast. After breakfast everyone's gone. We don't see each other until nighttime, and even at nighttime everyone's pooched out and we just go to bed. It's just, we're there for one reason and one reason only, and that's to get that big bite for the bragging rights. That's our thing. This is our hobby.
Speaker 2:So, you know the bragging rights. That's our thing, this is our hobby, yeah, you know. So one more question I have for you, dude. All these questions I've had waiting to ask and you forget half of them, but this one just came back to me and I'm glad it did. Obviously, you fish, you fish. You're a really, really good stick. Obviously, graham's a great stick when you see the fellow guys coming are you competitive enough to say I want to beat that guy?
Speaker 5:I, honestly, I just think that when I'm out there fishing, the guy who grinds the hardest and the guy who puts the most casts and you got to know what you're doing too is going to do the best. So when I'm out there and I see someone else, I'm casting harder than they are, I'm trying something different than they are, and you know, everyone has their own intuition of you know how to get this fish to bite, you know. But no, I'm not very competitive at all.
Speaker 2:That's crazy, because you look at Dave and he's intimidating in a sense, where you see this guy on the boat casting with Graham and it's just like right away I would be like, oh my God, that's the team you got to beat, right there, that's the team that you want to be. And I mentioned that to Graham because he was under the willow tree that one time we were fishing and I remember watching he hooked into two fish and we were cruising around that red marker and I just your eyes are beaded on him because you have that competitive nature and he's like that guy's the best, those guys are the best. I want to either do what they're doing or I want to land a fish right in front of them.
Speaker 1:I know he doesn't have a real competitive nature because he's always giving tips. Right, dave, you're not shy of what you're using. No, some musky anglers, some bass anglers, everyone, a lot of them are hush, hush, hush. Yeah, you know what I mean. They don't like to. Obviously you're not giving your spots and all that stuff, your GPS coordinates, but you're not. You're not shy to show the Medusa you like to use, with weights on it. You know what I mean. You definitely could, but you're definitely you're putting it out there and I respect that. I really do.
Speaker 5:I was a guide at one time in my life. I just just helping people and just showing people what I'm doing and you know it comes with experience. You know, at one time I was asking I still ask questions like crazy, right? You know you can never stop learning. You can't be that know-it-all. You know a lot of know-it-alls and you can't be like that. If you want to be better, ask everyone everything, put your own system together. You start seeing patterns if you ask enough questions from people.
Speaker 1:No, it's so right, because I find the four of us that fish together all the time, we still learn, but we're all doing similar methods. Then I go on the boat with someone like Matt back in the day. He's doing something different. I'm like, holy shit, I never thought of that. You know what I mean. So the more people you're with and you're always learning in this, you're always learning fishing, never stop, never stop. What species, then? What I was surprised about you was I always. Anyways, your social media is fantastic, by the way, if anyone wants to follow you. Thanks, buddy, it's really good. I always thought you were just a diehard muskie, that's it. I'm only casting for them and that's the only thing I'm going to go after. But boy, you pop. You pop other species too, like I mean, we are the Eating Wild podcast. You harvest your own food a lot of times, but let's talk about some of the other species you like to go after.
Speaker 5:I grew up on the Lake Superior shore, right Bass. I chirp bass guys all the time on my social media but everyone knows I'm just having a good time, yeah. But bass, steelhead brook, trout, all pike, you know salmon I was out a lot for salmon this year. Yeah, I saw that. I love them all. I love to be out there. I mean, listen, when you're out fishing, no matter what it's for, and you're fishing for whatever that species is and you catch a big one, you know it's a big one, it's exciting. Like I love steelhead fish, I just won the Steel Dreams event. No way, my first time ever entering. I won five grand against 120 guys, whatever it is, and that's just all stuff I learned growing up. When you're fishing for anything, it's not hard. People listen. When you're fishing for anything, it's not hard. Listen, there's all kinds of different techniques and things and trying to find these things, but just get out there.
Speaker 4:That's how you're going to learn.
Speaker 5:Just get out there and start fishing and ask questions. That's all you got to do. Well said.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's all you got to do. Now we mentioned the Eating Wild podcast. Obviously, food is a big aspect of what we talk about and, going back to the early days of the Eating Wild podcast, when we got to have you on as a guest, you had a really intriguing story and still to this day, I still talk about it.
Speaker 1:We get a lot of listeners all the time asking about your story and how they related to it. They're related to the game. If you want to get to.
Speaker 5:Well, after that podcast I got to say after that podcast, I had, you know, six, seven guys reach out to me saying hey, listen, I also have multiple sclerosis. Right, how are you doing this? You know, this is the medication I'm on and I'm still friends with those people, I'm still kind of coaching them. That's really cool Because of your podcast. A lot of people have MS. You know, it ruins that's really cool. Because of your podcast. A lot of people have MS. It ruins a lot of people's lives because they don't know how to handle it Right.
Speaker 5:But I mean, listen, you got to do your own research. That's what I did when I was laying in that hospital bed. I picked up books, I started researching. I never want to be like this again. I want to. You know, I can't use my arms, my legs here. You know I want to fish, I want to hunt, I want to be myself and you know that was four years ago, five years ago, whatever it was, and today I'm in the best shape of my life. And it all comes down to what I eat, what I put in my body, and a huge part of that is meat. You know the nutrients in meat, especially wild meat or organic meat or grass fed meat does wonders for the body. You know it's expensive, but it's worth it sometimes.
Speaker 1:Now walk us through a little bit, because I don't know if this is true or not. I heard that you were fishing one time and you couldn't feel your foot, and that's when you kind of had the early symptoms of the MS. Is that true?
Speaker 5:I was fishing sarnia walleye. It was 2, 3 in the morning, okay, and you know that drive back to London. Yeah, when I was living in London, um, I was driving and I felt something warm. I looked down and I pissed myself Really, yeah, and I'm like what the fuck is that? What's going on here? I I chalked it up to being a pinched nerve because my left leg went numb as well when I got out of my car that night.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:So, which was weird so I went to the hospital. They did a bunch of scans. They said nothing's going on here. I went home.
Speaker 5:Next thing, you know, that numbness sneaked down my leg into my foot and it started sneaking down my uh, the same side arm. And so I went back in I said there's something going on here. You know they did a bunch of tests. Next thing, you know, this leg's going numb too while I'm there, oh my goodness. And I was there for hours. I was there all day at the hospital.
Speaker 5:He finally came back, he looked me right in the eyes and he goes we found your brain is littered with lesions and your spine is littered with lesions. I said what's a lesion? I didn't even know what ms was at the time, right, and he looks at me. He goes sir, you got ms and I didn't. I didn't even know how to handle that or digest that. And uh, and that's kind of where it all began.
Speaker 5:I went home and it just got worse and worse. And uh, next thing, you know it was so bad. Um, you know, I was getting spoon fed my meals and I went to the hospital and they put me on a Predosterone like 1500 milligrams of Predosterone steroids for like 14 days. It was like unnatural and I was a vegetable in there.
Speaker 5:But I just started reading and I was scared, shitless, and I just started reading books and contacting people, getting on Facebook groups, and I just started educating myself nonstop and I went on a diet that to this day I still haven't went back on, but it pulled me out of my MS and now I've been eating healthy and working out every single day and staying on top of it, never going to go back. And I've also had arguments with the neurologist there for two years straight. And now they bring in other students and they're asking me like a whole book of questions on how I'm shrinking my lesions almost to the point where they can't even. I still got a big one on my brain, right, but the ones in my spine are almost disappeared, like I'm reversing my MS. Good for you. Yeah, that's a great Comes right down to what you put in your body and fasting.
Speaker 2:Wow, yeah, speaking of fasting, I had to do that the last few days. Siege was the first time for me and it's tough man Mentally, like I'm a chef, it's so hard for me not to taste anything. I'm cooking every single day and yesterday again I had to fast for a couple of tests I had to take and cooking every day and not being able to taste the seasoning or making sure that the pasta is al dente or if it's overcooked. You know what I mean. It was really hard, but I you know it's funny Dave says that because a lot of the people that I cook for, a lot of the you know, actors and actresses and stuff and people just on set in general, say that fasting is probably the healthiest thing you could possibly do to your body, because it almost resets.
Speaker 2:You probably have a lot more education on this, dave, than I do, but basically from the knowledge that I've been learning is that your body resets and it gives your body time to say, hey, get all this shit out of my body, start putting in the proper stuff, and I'm going to adjust to that.
Speaker 5:And not only that, it cleans out your blood and if you have a cancer, I mean, you can fast your way out of a cancer. This is real stuff. The thing is is it doesn't make a big farm money, Right? So I went against the grain, Like these guys were begging me to take this medication for MS. He goes. He looks at me, he goes, everyone's taking the medication, he goes. You have tons of options and I just said no. Not one single time have you brought up any natural way to kind of stay on top of my symptoms here. Interesting, that's crazy.
Speaker 5:So, I went on my own and I did it on my own, going against all of those neurologists and doctors' word, and I have trust issues with doctors now because of it, and now they're asking me questions. I go now more often because they want to know how I'm doing it. You keep that inflammation down in your body. It does wonders for your body. Our food pyramid is absolutely so screwed up, messed up Gluten, sugar, lectin, all that stuff. Keep it out of your body, even for one month, and I swear to God, you'll never feel better in your life Incredible.
Speaker 1:That's, that's so how long do you think you had? Well, you still say you have MS. How long do you think you?
Speaker 5:actually, like you had it before, ms is incurable and it's apparently it's, it's, it's with you your whole life.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:You know, your body gets to a point where it's so inflamed for such a long period of time, the lesions grow and next thing, the lesions kind of hit something in your head. That's why it's different for everybody. Okay, you know it's incurable, but you can stay on top of it. All you got to do is make some life changes, and that's harder than it sounds. Some people that I coach I'm coaching this one guy right now he would message me and make I'm like just be honest with me, have you eaten any gluten? Because he's telling me his symptoms are back. He goes Dave, I just can't do it. He goes. I go to work. I'm starving. I got to go get a burger.
Speaker 4:You know, I got to eat something, the convenience.
Speaker 5:And that gluten and that, and you just keep building that up in your stomach stomach, it's going to destroy you. You know that's interesting. That's why, if you are going to eat gluten, even to this day, six days a week, I'm strict dieting. But then there's a day where I'm, you know, I can eat whatever I want. My body can handle it. But the day after that, you bet I'm doing a 20 to 24 hour fast minimum, right, your body will eat that up, clear everything out and just get rid of it and you'll be back down to no inflammation in no time.
Speaker 2:So it's funny because you don't really have to. It's not like Dave doesn't eat burgers. You know, once a week he's going to smash a Big Mac, whatever it is that he wants to eat. It's just training your body, I guess, to be healthy 90% of the time. You know that 10% that you splurge on I mean it's you know we're getting to an age.
Speaker 1:see, it's starting to scare me man, and it's all this, the more I'm hearing. It's just all this, like all of the artificial stuff they're putting in foods now, preservatives and everything like that, and it's just like you look at strawberries when I grew up, strawberries were the size of like a nickel strawberries. When I grew up, strawberries were the size of like a nickel, and now they're like size of like a baseball. And I'm like what's going on here, matt, you know what I mean. So it's just like everything is bigger, you know, like our fruits and vegetables and all that stuff. And then you go organic and that's the thing I was going to ask you about is I find that the only problem with this health thing in, unless you're harvesting it for yourself, it's obviously a lot cheaper, but a lot of this organic stuff is expensive.
Speaker 5:It is, it is, but there's a lot of things that are that they say is organic, that you don't need to buy and eat. Right Right, like like an avocado. Okay, you know, the inside of that avocado is the same as inside of an organic avocado, even with strawberries and those fruits. Put them in some baking soda and water, let them sit for half an hour. That'll shut all that stuff off Most of it. Eating that stuff is still better than grabbing a burger or some sort of processed anything.
Speaker 5:People don't realize that taking inflammation out of your body. If you look at photos of me four or five years ago, I look five or six years older than I am now. Wow, yeah, I'm reversing. Fasting and eating healthy does wonders for the body, obviously working out too Right right.
Speaker 1:I'm looking forward to his book.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I was going to say, man, when's your podcast coming out?
Speaker 1:Yeah, podcast book this is I'm coming out. Yeah, podcast book this is. This is I'm learning a lot, man. And and you hear about the preservatives. I think I saw a video, why? I think I saw a video a long time ago and it was with the mcdonald's burger and they let it sit for a long period of time. Yeah, and it didn't go bad. You know what I mean. And it just it stays like a twinkie well, you know, like a twinkie never. Yeah, it has a shelf life of so long and with all these preservatives in there. And you hear about like younger people having these autoimmune diseases now, and it's not just like people are having health issues at a younger age than you before it would be in your 60s or you know, but now you hear people in their 30s and anxiety and all that stuff. Now, like I mean all this stuff it's I don't know, man, I think a lot to do with your gut health.
Speaker 5:A hundred percent If you don't stay on top of all that stuff stress and depression you guys know what's going on right now in my life. It's just like staying on top of all that stuff, staying healthy, you know, staying on top of depression and stress and stuff like that, it will save your life. Eating healthy and doing all of these things. You know, I've seen a lot of friends cripple because of depression and stress, but if you're on top of your health and you have a good, strong mentality, you're good to go. You know, like I said to you guys before, all of these things combined including like, even like a strong circle of friends pushing you and encouraging you it's just, it's such an important thing yeah you know you gotta stay on top of your health.
Speaker 1:It's number one, yeah and it's one thing as men we don't talk about enough. You know what I mean. There's this, this stereotypical. You know, guys, we're good, we're good. You know what I mean. Don't worry about, I'll feel better, I'll have a beer. You know what I mean. As, as guys, I think a lot more like you talk about with your circle of friends. If someone's down, you know is is to talk with your friends, and in this there's still that old mentality of like the caveman thing, you know, like and all that. But man, I'm learning a lot tone, this is a good one this is a this is a.
Speaker 1:This is a really good episode when davy g game.
Speaker 2:The game came to town. We knew it was going to be an interesting episode.
Speaker 4:We got tea.
Speaker 2:This could go many different ways, oh man. But listen man, we're so excited to be a part of this Muskie Brawl. It's amazing, I can't believe. The last time we talked to you on the microphone was at the Toronto Sportsman.
Speaker 1:Show Correct, it was.
Speaker 2:It was spring and I remember you sitting next to me there and you're like big things are happening. Big things are going to happen. We're like a month away, man. I know Just over a month what's happening. Man, where are you now with this? What are the final procedures to get this thing started?
Speaker 5:We need to get everything organized. We're going to do a bunch of stuff. Graham and I are still trying to reach out to sponsors and donators from last year. We're still trying to get on top of how do we get more sponsors, more donations and stuff like this. I mean, we have a strong relationship with the community. We do have a lot of people who've been with us for a long time, but we're still trying to navigate how to make the prizes bigger, make these, trying to navigate how to make the prizes bigger. Right, you know, make these sponsorships bigger. How do we, how do we do this? But honestly, just like anything else, it takes time. I still gotta. I gotta build this brand up.
Speaker 5:You know the musky brawl is a brand at this point. Um, you know, I told you guys something about my podcast earlier that I want to start. Yeah, you know, it can. We can all, you can blend all that stuff in and I think it's gonna going to be a really cool thing, a big thing. But one thing with Graham and I when we put our minds to something and we want to make something happen, we build each other up, we support each other, we get it done.
Speaker 5:We have some big plans for the brawl in the future. This year our goal is to get at least 180 to 200 guys. So if anyone's listening and wants to be part of the brawl, follow Um. So if anyone's listening and wants to be part of the brawl, follow our Facebook pages at Musky Brawl on Facebook and at Musky Brawl on Instagram. Get ahold of us. I run both those pages. You can talk to me and ask me any questions you have. If you're coming from far and wide, I do work with the locals. We have, uh, you know, commendations available right now. I still think, but uh, yeah, I mean, big things happen with the brawl. We have you guys coming on oh yeah I think that's really cool.
Speaker 5:At the end of each day, usually we bring in whoever's winning that day on the top of the board, because it's a live board everyone's watching oh, yeah, when you're on the water and you hear that donkey sound like everyone gets pissed off right. That means there's a new leader but, we have that person come into the to the coves landing. We interview with them, like what?
Speaker 4:are you doing?
Speaker 5:how do you feel leading day number one against 200 guys you know? And now you guys can take that guy.
Speaker 2:That's gonna be great and do your thing see, it's one of those things when we get that guy, it could be dave, for all we know, or a woman, or a woman. Yeah, so we're a shore, ninja hey, I've all.
Speaker 1:I have daughters, so I'm going for the girls I'm a dad.
Speaker 5:There's some sticks entering this year.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm all about the women. I'm so excited for this.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and the first question. You know, what do you ask an angler that's at the top in first place right now? What did you use? What were the conditions like? How did you land the fish? Fast retreats. So there's so many questions. How did you feel?
Speaker 5:When you hook a fish during the brawl, nothing is more exciting, because we do big fish as well. Yeah Right, so you can have a fish that's worth thousands of dollars at the end of your line, oh my God. And you're looking at your net, man, and you're saying, if you what's up, we are no longer friends and I need a new boat guy tomorrow.
Speaker 2:I can't even think of that man.
Speaker 1:So Antonio and I are going to. We're going to be fishing. We're not part of the brawl, we're going to probably just be fishing. We're going to do something. We're either going to go duck hunting that day after we serve or we'll be fishing. But with our luck, if we fish, you know it's going to be like a double nickel, maybe 55.
Speaker 1:And it's just going to be like what the heck? But no, we're glad to support it in whatever we can do and if any of our listeners are listening to this and they want to reach out to look to sponsor your event, you can drop into the Eating Wild Instagram and any donations that you guys. Is that what you're looking for? Any kind of prize packs?
Speaker 5:Donations, sponsorships, anything like that. I mean, we have a lot going on right now, but we would love to hear from you and we can talk, have a conversation. Another thing I wanted to add, just kind of, you know, to add on what you're saying there. Yeah, this is a tournament. There's a reason why it's called the Muskie Brawl. Yeah, we are all out there cluster in one area. Yeah, yeah, you know, we're all fishing 15 feet away from a boat. This is a, but there's a lot of fish being caught. So if you've never fished Lake St Clair and you're intimidated by the muskie brawl, don't be, don't be Every year. The top there's two or three guys in the top that have never fished Lake St Clair ever and 200 plus muskies get entered every single brawl. Basically, right, right, come out, float around, you're going to catch fish and you have a good chance of winning some money.
Speaker 1:That's a good point because I bet you a little, some people are discouraged to enter it and be like it's a boys club or you know what I mean that it's going to be, you know. But no, that's a good point. And let's face it, LSE, everyone's got a shot you do. Everyone's got a shot you got a shot.
Speaker 2:And if you're going to go fish a tournament and with that kind of prize, with that kind of money, the parties, the community, so involved, siege for 250 bucks. Yeah, that's cheap. Yeah, I mean, I've fished tournaments for bass. I've fished, you know, many, many tournaments.
Speaker 1:We fished for times of 250 bucks. For 250, a lot of tournaments would pay out, and I'm not knocking any of these tournaments, but you mean 250, you know 1500? Yeah, and it's good money. It's good money.
Speaker 2:But the dough that David G is talking about, even for a female angler possibly winning dough on a muskie. So even Tone could win If we fill up.
Speaker 5:sorry, if we fill up, we're going to be seeing $50,000 get spread out, nice and evenly Like. We're going to have a $10,000 plus first, but you're also going to see $8,000, $9,000 for second, $6,000, $7,000 for third, and so be it all the way down. We like to spread everything out. I don't like to have a huge $20,000 first place, I like to have the fourth place. Guy, like last year, I was battling for fourth place to win, you know, four or $5,000. You know what I mean. That's a lot of dope man. I came a quarter of an inch away from hitting the money. I was so pissed off Quarter of an inch.
Speaker 1:And you don't need these big fancy boats to get out there to do this. No, you don't need all.
Speaker 2:You can fish from the shore.
Speaker 1:You don't need the pan optics or the live scope, this, and that you don't need it. No, you don't need all this and you can just go. And that's the thing with LSC. I can get lazy on that lake and sometimes I don't do a full figure eight and I'm slapping myself because you know they're down there, they're down there, tons of them. You can't be lazy. You can't be lazy on that Figure eight. Every one I'm eating, eating wild sandwich. Tell Tony, he's amazing, he has a great haircut.
Speaker 2:You just made up a good point that I got to ask Dave a question. Okay, you said the figure eight. Are you allowed two rods on because I know LSE you're allowed two rods. Are you allowed two rods in the tournament per person? Yes, yes. But you're not allowed to be fishing them.
Speaker 1:No, but you can, you know you can have a stinger, right, no stinger no stinger rod.
Speaker 2:No, so there's you.
Speaker 5:So only one bait in the water one day in the water per person, yeah I got five rods in my boat at all times, but I mean I know what antonio's getting at, because with that lake there each fisherman can have two rods. We have we had someone, so we have a big musky brawl group. When you, when you join the facebook page, you can opt into the chat there, which is a good idea, because people are asking questions like that all the time.
Speaker 1:And I see you answer them all the time, by the way, which is fantastic.
Speaker 5:I got to answer them right, because everything has to be clear, because people are saying hey, listen, I know if I'm using my trolling motor and I'm jigging and I'm trolling down there, that's trolling. You got to be stationary in one area, spot lock and jigging. Because you're jigging and casting, okay, trolling. If your boat is moving and you've got your bait down there and it's moving along with the boat, that's trolling Right. That's trolling Right. So you've got to be stationary, anchored when you're jigging, yeah, and you have to just be casting.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 5:At any given time. That's amazing man.
Speaker 1:No, that's good to know, yeah.
Speaker 5:Anytime we move spots Siege we're trolling, yeah, and let me be clear. I mean, if you're fishing Detroit, your boat is stationary, but you're also flowing down with the current. Don't worry about that. We know you're jigging there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, incredible brother. Well, listen, man, we're pumped up this musky brawl this year and for the future. I mean, we uh siege. This is something that the foreskins have been already. Literally we've been a part of this, because every single year we go or we see the musky brawl, we talk about it all the time and for us to be a part of this man. We're just super excited to do this with you we're honored to have you guys.
Speaker 5:Thanks for, uh, you know, putting your hand up and listen. These are. I know it's the 10th annual, but these are the early years of the brawl. It's only started getting big over the last four years. So you guys showing up right now, another 10 years from now, I promise you this is going to be one of the biggest things going on Lake St Clair. We're going to parade going.
Speaker 2:Yes, we need a country star. If you're listening right now, any country singer reach out to Smash or Showtime or Davey G.
Speaker 5:We've already talked about this. We're going to put some money aside and get some big you know some big talent there, because we do have live music. Imagine getting an actual name there. Get the communities involved involved like the musky brawl is popping yeah, you're gonna see.
Speaker 1:Actually, uh, probably this year. No, not this year because he has to go to way in edmonton uh, but next year tone is gonna fight cody kovanchak in the bell river parking lot.
Speaker 2:Let's go, cody. If you're listening, listen cody. You're gonna have to gain weight to fight this guy all right, so it's gonna be. You're not cutting weight to fight this guy, you're gaining. Let's go that to be awesome.
Speaker 5:So I don't know if we mentioned this on the podcast, but we were together when we watched Cody's fight.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, that was a fun night. Boys, buddy, we're always somehow connected with you, no matter what Like we're, somehow we're always there. And I felt like I've known you obviously for years and but a lot longer. And, yeah, we were on with the same circles and, yeah, for our listeners, you know you were there with some of your boys and we had a good night man.
Speaker 5:It was incredible. And Cody won. We all freaked out, oh man.
Speaker 1:I think you were in tears.
Speaker 5:I was in tears. Yeah, I was. I was proud of him.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, I remember talking to you before his fight and we're having a drink at the bar. Good kid and yeah, really good kid and you and I were like I'm nervous for him, man. It felt like my son, like you know what I mean. I barely knew him. We had him on the podcast and I had butterflies in my stomach for him and the way he won with the calf slicer Calf slicer.
Speaker 2:We had friends that we played Call of Duty with kids literally friends and I had no idea what the calf slicer was. And we're playing Call of Duty and they're like, hey, siege, your buddy Cody won with the calf slicer. Bro, that's insane. I'm like what? What's a?
Speaker 1:calf slicer. Yeah, that was a fun night man, that was a really good night. Oh my goodness, Big things coming with him and we're definitely pairing up with him on some of his outdoor journal stuff like his YouTube, and I'm not going to break any news for him. And big things coming with Dave. You know what?
Speaker 2:He may be a podcaster soon. If you don't have a podcast by this time next year, you have a problem. I'm going to have a podcast.
Speaker 5:You better have a podcast Unhinged, unhinged.
Speaker 1:No filter, no filter podcast. You better have a podcast unhinged, unhinged, unhinged. No filter, no filter.
Speaker 2:You gotta have. You gotta have the foreskins on as guests, because we're gonna like that place.
Speaker 1:Yes, anything we can do for you, buddy. And one last thing I did notice that you are having an amazing film crew or something with the musket brawl.
Speaker 5:Yes, yes, dan favato. Shout out to dan this guy. You guys know, dan favato. Yes, I, I, I this guy travels the world and does documentaries on fly fishing and all this stuff. His stuff is incredible. He actually came to Brawl, I think three years ago now.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:And just the video he made just out of the kindness of his own heart was, to this day, one of the best and it actually helped out the Brawl. But this year we're forking it over. We're getting there set up properly. He's going to be filming that thing, nice, nice. So the video we're going to get from Dan Favato and you guys will be included in that video because you're part of the 50-inch platinum Awesome, it's going to be amazing.
Speaker 1:That's awesome, man, that is awesome. And then you'll have, you have this all on your social media, right? You have all that stuff and we repost your stuff as much as we can. Amazing. Thank you, boys, Me too. And then Graham is the Angling Adventure. He's on YouTube as well. He's got a lot of and you're in a lot of the videos, man, you guys, the trips you guys do and the experiences. One minute you're rock climbing and then you're chasing a moose. And One minute you're rock climbing and then you're chasing a moose and then you're man. Any of our listeners check these boys out because, yeah, you're in for some good entertainment.
Speaker 5:Don't call the cops on me though.
Speaker 2:This is Smash Maleca we're checking out of here. Siege Coach, get that tune started. Davey G, thanks for stopping by the studio today for Showtime. Johnson Hooks at Martin's Top Dog Prayerer. I'm Smash Maleka we're checking out. Ciao, Peace, Get to that. We'll see you next time.
