The Spiritually Curious Therapist
The Spiritually Curious Therapist is a podcast exploring the intersection of nervous system science, mental health, spirituality, and healing.
Hosted by Jodi Silverman, LCSW, this show is for therapists, healers, and curious humans who sense that true healing happens below the level of insight alone. Through thoughtful conversations and solo reflections, we explore trauma, chronic pain and illness, altered states, regulation, meaning-making, and what it really takes to help the nervous system feel safe enough to change.
This is a space for grounded mysticism, where evidence-based practice meets soul-level wisdom, and where healing is approached with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the body’s innate intelligence.
Whether you’re a clinician expanding beyond talk therapy or someone on your own healing path, this podcast invites you to listen differently — to symptoms, to stories, and to what’s asking to be integrated.

The Way Out Is In: Crystal Clear on Somatics, Tantra & Nervous System Healing

What if healing isn't about thinking your way through your past...
What if it's about learning to listen to your body?
In this episode of The Spiritually Curious Therapist, I sit down with somatic bodywork practitioner Crystal Clear for a thoughtful conversation about trauma, nervous system regulation, embodiment, and the profound wisdom our bodies hold.
Crystal shares her own healing journey—from growing up in an abusive home and years of traditional talk therapy to discovering the transformative role of yoga, somatic practices, and trauma-informed bodywork. Along the way, we explore why so many of us become disconnected from our bodies, how those adaptations once helped us survive, and what it takes to gently reconnect.
We also spend time unpacking the word tantra—a term that is often misunderstood. Rather than focusing on sexuality, Crystal describes tantra as a practice of presence, awareness, and learning to expand our capacity to be with all of our human experience.
In this episode, we explore:
- How early life experiences shape our nervous system
- The difference between understanding our story and experiencing healing in the body
- Why embodiment is an essential part of emotional healing
- What tantra really means—and why it's often misunderstood
- Emotional literacy and learning to recognize what your body is communicating
- Self-abandonment, boundaries, and creating safety from within
- Why healing happens in relationship and through attunement
- How nervous system regulation expands our capacity for both joy and pain
- The connection between chronic stress, suppressed emotions, and physical symptoms
- Why, sometimes, the way out is to go in
One of my favorite moments came when Crystal said:
"The work isn't the work. I'm the work."
That simple statement captures so much of what we explored together. Healing isn't about finding the perfect technique. It's about cultivating the presence, awareness, and capacity to meet ourselves honestly—and allowing that relationship with ourselves to become the foundation for everything else.
