hello, wonderful audience. Today we have Shekethia Cash Cash. Did I pronounce it correctly? Yes, you did. Okay, wonderful. Beautiful name. Thank you so much for joining us today. How are you? I am doing well. Thank you so much for having me as a guest today, Lisa. I'm excited. Your book, Bible quizzes 1 0 1. I think it's probably going to be something that every household should have. So how about telling us a little bit about you and. What led you down this writing journey? I am a nurse. This is actually my first published book. I had no intentions on writing this book, it started out with me writing Bible quizzes just for myself, and this was in October, 2021. I was reading a Christian book and in the book someone referenced someone to being older than mathusla. I thought, well, how old did Matula live? So I did my research and found out he lived 969 years and that's found in the Book of Genesis. So I thought, well, you know what? I'm just gonna jot that down because I might need to reference that again. And so from there, moving forward, if I ran across something, maybe in a sermon, in a devotion, maybe speaking with someone and I wanted to read a little more about it, I would jot it down. So I was just doing these just for myself and to me they were like quizzes. And, in 2021 I thought, you know what? My family would really enjoy this. I knew that this would be a way for us to engage on a weekly basis to stay connected. With the peak of COVID, I did not want us to lose that part of our family dynamics as far as relationships was were concerned. So on a Friday, I sent out one of these quizzes that I'd been writing down for myself, and I told my family, there's one rule. Do not post the answer. I did not want anyone to post the answer because I did not want another family member to feel intimidated or to feel like, oh gosh, I've been walking with the Lord for X number of years. I should know this answer. Why did I get it wrong? Or, I also didn't want it to be misleading if they posted an answer that was incorrect. And when I say posted this was happening, via text message. So I started doing that on Fridays in 2021 and my family loved it. Absolutely loved the engagement that we were having. It led to me, adding more people to my ministry. At that point, it was a ministry and I called it Friday Bible Quiz. And so I created more text message groups and I also created a GroupMe. And by the end of last year, 2025, I had 138 participants that participated every Friday with the quiz. The same rule. Do not post the answer. And it was just Lisa, it, it was just amazing to hear testimonies. Well, let me start by saying I never asked anyone to share anything with me. They did not have to share their spiritual walk. All I asked was, do you want to be a part of this ministry? But evidently the Lord led people to share. I heard testimonies. I heard their journeys on being a Christian. There were new Christians that were in my group. There were seasoned Christians. There were people sharing just everything. And this wasn't just on Friday. I was getting calls and text messages throughout the week, on the weekends, at night. And I never declined any message. I answered all of my calls. I listened. I prayed with participants. In 2025 I said, Lord, this is bigger than 138 people. I said, Lord, I, I don't know what to do, how to expand this, but it's bigger. Just hearing, what these participants are saying and how we're engaging. And I started thinking, okay, Lord, maybe I could just add more participants. Maybe I can start a Facebook page, maybe Instagram, maybe a podcast, maybe YouTube. Maybe a Bible quiz ministry where we all get together on a Zoom call. In reality, I'll say, that was not me. I am not into, I'm not into that. I'm behind the scenes, but I wanted to teach people and I just kind of left it alone. And in July of 20 24, 1 of my uncles that had been treading with me and the family since 2021, he actually posted something very interesting in our family group chat. He said, I should write a book with all these quizzes. To be honest with you, I blew him off. I, I really did. I discounted that idea. I'm thinking, write a book. This is not what I do. I'm a nurse. No. Mm-hmm. And Uncle, uncle Uncle Charles is his name. I said, I, I'm not doing that. And that was it. Fast forward a few months later, November, 2024, I was in my kitchen preparing a meal and the Holy Spirit said, write the book. I knew it was no one but the Holy Spirit speaking to me, Lisa. It wasn't an audible sound, but it was the Holy Spirit inside of me. And I stopped right then. So I know what I heard and I said, that is the Holy Spirit speaking to me, and I'll be transparent with you. At first, I, I gave pushback. I said, Lord, I can't do this for this reason, that reason, this reason, that reason. I don't have time. I don't have the money. I don't have the resources. I'm not a pastor. I'm not a ministry. I don't need a group. I gave all the reasons why. I cannot do this. I just cannot do this. And of, of course, after the back and forth with the Lord, the Lord, he's not gonna give up on you when he knows that he has equipped you with something. He is going to open the doors. He's going to make a way. I had no idea what to do. Or where to start. Okay, so where did you start? I, the first thing I did is I thought go to another author so I was sifting through the books in my home library and I ran across a book by author Tamika Marie, I had all three of her books. I reached out to her. We had a phone conversation and off after that. So how did you decide to organize your book? What to put in, what to keep out? Wow. That's, that's a loaded question. I let the, I let the Holy Spirit lead me because originally I thought it was just gonna be quizzes. Writing the quizzes was, was easy. All of the quizzes has the answer and the supporting Bible verses. So remind you, this was last year but I started writing quizzes in 2021, I did not have, um, as many as I wanted. So I generated additional quizzes, And I thought, okay, Lord, I got this. Then the Lord said, no, there's gonna be more in your book that led to my first book being over 600 pages, it has 10 different quiz formats. Question matching, true false, multiple choice, unscramble name, that book, what's my name? Who said it in the Bible? Fill in the blank, word combinations. That chapter is comprised of quizzes that are related to parables and biblical stories. I thought, okay, well, that's easy. Then the Lord said, no, no, no, no. There's gonna be more. there is a prayer that I wrote that starts out every chapter, Lisa. I've already prayed over every reader that will purchase my book or will receive it as a gift. Every chapter starts out with a prayer, I ask the Lord to bless the person that reads this chapter, and it was interesting because when I would finish writing one section, the Lord would give me what I needed for the next session. So I just wrote until he gave me nothing else to write. There is an area for you to write reflection notes after each quiz. My book has definitions in it. It has an index in the back and it has a key grid in the back. After you complete each quiz you tally up the correct number then flip to the back At the bottom it tells you how well you did. It says either you did a fantastic job, a marvelous job, a superb job, an outstanding job, an excellent job, and the kind grid starts at one. So everybody is a winner. And the bonus is, this is a quiz, right? Remember in school when the teacher would, have a pop quiz and if you got the answer right, she'd probably give you a piece of candy, and say, this is what you earn. So my bonus for my book, once every reader completes my book there is a certificate of completion. It's already signed by me. All you have to do is plug in your name and the date that you completed my book. What I notice in listening to you is almost like you're as shocked and surprised by all of this as everybody else, that this came from you, right? Yes, yes. Every word in my book. The Lord gave it to me. You decide that you finally feel like you're done, and then what came next? I met with that author, Tamika Marie and I shared with her about me writing a book, she said, Shakia, you need a book coach. And I said, okay, that that sounds fair enough. She recommended me to the book coach I connected with, with the Coach no one knew that I was writing a book because I did not want distractions. I did not want opinions. I wanted to write this book because the Lord led me to, and I did not want everyone whispering things in my ears. He just told you what to write and you he used your hands So for me, what I think is beautiful is it gives me a starting point to the Bible. Not only is it good for your brain, but it's good for your knowledge and it answers questions you may not even know. You may need to know or want to know. Yes. E exactly, Lisa. I took into consideration that every person that reads my book is not going to be very knowledgeable of the Bible, or they're not gonna be an active reader of the Bible or hero of God's word, or that they don't read on a frequent basis. My book is a no judgment zone. I'm not taking on a consideration that every person that reads my book is a follower of Jesus Christ. Which is why I did write a section for nonbelievers, because, my book is going to get in the hand of at least one nonbeliever if it has not. But I would like to make a note that in my book I have six different Bible translations. Some quizzes are Christian Standard Bible version, some are English standard version. Some are the King James version. Some are the New King James. Some are the NIV, which is the new international version, and some are the NLT, which is New Living Translation. So my thoughts is if someone reads a quiz and it's written in the NLT version, that they can understand that and they may say, Hmm, I like the NLTI like the language and the words. I'm going to buy a Bible with the NLT translation. Or they're gonna take their phone and if they have a Bible app on it, they're gonna flip it to the translation where they can understand. Translation. So I didn't wanna leave anyone behind. That is huge. So what else do you think that our audience needs to know about you in your book? I call my book an all inclusive book, and this is why I say that my book has a lot of what individual books have, but it's all comprised in one book. So you have a quiz, you have the answer, you have the supporting Bible verses on where it's found, so you don't have to buy a devotional book and a workbook. It's there. My book has an area after every quiz for you to write reflection notes. Therefore, you don't have to have your own separate journal. My book has prayers. You don't have to have a separate prayer book. The prayers are there. When you read certain quizzes and you run across a certain biblical word, let's say tabernacle, you don't have to leave my book to go look up tabernacle so you can answer that quiz correctly. I have that definition right there for you with that quiz. So you don't have to have a Bible dictionary or of course you don't have to have an index page. So that's why I call it inclusive, because all of those different books that you may have around the house, which is nothing wrong with that. But I wanted my book to be where you have less distractions, because I feel like if I've used the definition, maybe circum circums. I don't want you to leave my book to go look up that definition because you may more than likely say, well, let me just get my cell phone and Google it. Then when you do that, you are gonna see, oh, let friend Lisa called me, let me call her back. You left my book to look up a definition, and now there's room for distraction. It's all there. So all you're saying, it's so much that you have put into, how many pages is it? 602 and it's a large book. How did you organize that in your brain? The quizzes I generated those from anywhere. Lord, how can I turn that gospel sung into a quiz? Or if I heard a sermon, I'd ask the Lord the same question. Or if I was reading a devotion, or I was in conversation with someone those were the avenues that sparked me on how to generate a quiz. And I would just be creative on, which format should this be a true false quiz or a question, or who said it in the Bible kind of quiz. I had a huge spiral notebook and I was constantly writing things down, writing ideas. Whenever the Lord would give me an idea I would just write it down. And as I was finishing one section in my book, the Lord was just automatically giving me the next section to write. When I say I literally did not have to think about any sections, so I didn't just sit down and say, okay, I'm gonna have prayers, I'm gonna have reflection notes, I'm gonna have a key grid, I'm gonna have definitions. No, that is not how it worked. I started out with the quizzes. And I said, okay, Lord got my quizzes. And he said, no, there's gonna be more. And he would just give me the next section, what to write. So when you finally got ahold of your first book and you hold this heavy thing, I'm sure it's gotta be heavy at 602. It's 2.19 pounds. Oh my gosh. Were you just like, that had to been such a special moment? It, it actually, it actually was, it, it was when I picked up the package and it was heavy, I instantly thought, oh, they probably sent me the wrong book. And when I opened the package, Lisa, all I did was look at my book. I felt the cover, the back page. I flipped through and I just said, Lord, Lord, I, I didn't know. What to say other than, Lord, you chose me. Thank you. I was obedient. It humbles you. Yes. because he could have chosen anyone, Lisa to do this. You know, during, during this the, the enemy was throwing some fiery darts at me. Writing this book it came with challenges. My desktop, it literally crashed a month before I started writing. I'm telling you, it was one thing after another. I had a neck and upper back injury, which caused numbness in my right arm, tingling, burning. Weakness. I couldn't really pick up a gallon of milk. I had issues with gripping, which means it was difficult for me to write. And as a profession, I type nurse assessments. So here I am struggling with my dominant arm, which is my right arm, professionally, for eight hours. I'm typing. And there really was no rest time. But I would get off from work. I would rest my arm, I would do exercise, I would start writing my book, I said, Lord, I don't have time to waste. Lives need to be changed. I can't let this, I, I just can't let this stifle me like this. I ended up going to the doctor, having an x-ray having medication, you know, one medication made me drowsy. It did help with the muscle spasms, but I, I did not stop. I bought me a box of pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a spiral and I was struggling, but I was handwriting my book. I was up all times of the night, all times of the day, Monday through Friday, weekends, I ended up buying a tablet to work on and a keyboard, and I said, okay, this will work. Sometimes I needed a big screen. So two or three times a week I would go to the public library and I would type out information and I would email it to myself so I would have it. I literally did not do anything for nine months. I started writing my book January, 2025, and it was published October, 2025. That is amazing. I love that you shared that with this because it's easy to think, oh, the Lord just gave it, you know, gave it to me, and here magically it just went so, it, it sounded so beautiful. But no, you're dealing with life along the way, and the struggles and the doubts and the constant negativity or, or things that pull us away from what we're supposed to be doing while we're here. Exactly. But I, I enjoyed it. And because I knew that the Lord instructed me to write, that's why I did not give up I felt like if I did stop to wait until my arm felt better, that I didn't know how long that would be, that that could have been months. And as a matter of fact, my arm is not 100% better, but it's probably maybe 90% better. And this injury is over a year old. I would've said, okay, Lord, I'm gonna do this, but let me wait until my shoulder feels better. Let me wait until the numbness and the tingling stops. Let me wait until I can grip a pen or a pencil properly. I would literally just now be starting my book. Oh my goodness. Right. That's a great way to look at it for anything. Why procrastinate? It's done. So tell me some of the things you've already heard about your book from people that are going through it. I have a few reviews on Amazon, which is where my book can be purchased. But I'm hearing readers say things like, it's an easy read. My 8-year-old daughter loves this book. It's very reader friendly. It's a nice size print. I've heard readers say I'm reading my Bible more. I like the quizzes. Thank you for the answer on where the quiz can be found. So now I can go to the Bible myself. I heard a lady say that she had a tea party and she used my Bible quizzes at her tea party. I've heard of a youth ministry group that is engaging with my Bible quizzes. heard. How does that make you feel? It makes me very humble I have a business card and it has my personal cell phone number on it. And I tell people, please call me. Please text me. Here's or my email address. One lady actually told me that she and her family uses my book for their family game night. She says that her two sons are in competition and she keeps saying, no, this is not a competition. One brother doesn't need to try to outdo the other brother. That's in the book. That's in the Bible. Yes. Yes. So, you know, so I love it that families are engaging. I have, ministries that are engaging. I have attended women conferences and women ministry groups, I've created a icebreaker, but I've turned it into a quiz. I never dreamt this back in 2021, Lisa, never in a million years. All I did was start out with 15 family members sharing a Bible quiz one day a week. It was only on Friday. 15 grew to 138 participants in I think eight different states. Wow. So you mentioned people can find your book on Amazon and I will have it, in a link. For our audience if they would like to buy it. As I mentioned to you, I am definitely going to be buying one for my father for Father's Day. Now I'm guessing I'm going to be buying one for my grandson too, now that I know. Awesome. Yes. I'd like to share a fun fact about my book. My book is comprised of over 250 Bible quizzes. If a person was to take one quiz a week, you read the quiz, you read the answer, you read the supporting Bible verses, then you read more into that quiz, meaning you intentionally ask yourself who, what, when, why, where about that one quiz? Who is it talking about? What are they doing? Where are they? Why are they, so you ask yourself and if you can't answer those, you dig, you dive. You research that with one quiz. That quiz will last you seven days when you do all of that research. Right? So if you do that for one quiz a week, my book will last you over four years. That that one concept. That's, that's amazing. Wow. Thank you. I cannot say enough. You are definitely an inspiration Your story is amazing and I'm still blown away by you having over 600 pages in a nine month period. That's beautiful. It shows that you were led, it shows the passion, it shows your belief in what you're doing. And what I see so much with writers is it's a passion. It's a, it's a drive and you, you have to follow what that is for you. Yes. What would you like to end with? My slogan is I'm aiming to change lives, one Bible quiz at a time, and that's what I'm doing, Lisa. Every reader that has my book, that's at least one life that I've changed, and sometimes I know there's only one book, but then they're sharing that one book with the spouse. They're sharing that one book with children. So there are so many lives that have already been changed with just a fun, simple, short, inspiring educational. Bible quiz, who would've thought that is changing lives. That's why the feedback is so important to me, because once again, I say, Lord, you did it. This is why you had me to write this book, to change this life, to change that life. So we would like our audience, those that buy your book, to make sure and reach out to you and share their story about the effect that your book has had on them. Yes, i've had two radio interviews. I've had 13 book events. Wow. I have books in Kenya, Africa. This today is my second podcast, and I have books in two Texas bookstores. I'm making bold moods. I'm being courageous. I'm presenting myself in areas and places with confidence. Everyone doesn't read their bible frequently, but if they can get ahold to Bible quizzes 1 0 1 and it just sparked a little bit of interest. I'm thankful and I'm grateful because, you know, now we live in this culture that is what I describe as a microwave culture. Nobody wants to buy the chicken. Turn the oven on, let it preheat to three 50. Season the chicken, put it in the oven. Wait 45 minutes, pull it out and eat it. We don't live in a culture like that. We wanna take that same piece of chicken, open the microwave, put it in the microwave, press one minute, 30 seconds. Voila. It's ready. So I thought, okay, if, if no one is gonna sit down and open up the word of God and read through the pages in the scripture, okay, Lord, if they pick up Bible quizzes 1 0 1 and if it can be that microwave chicken that they need. So let it be and it'll be just as delicious. Yes. I just don't want readers to let my book take the place of them reading God's word for themself. But if this is gonna be something quick and easy, they can read a quiz in the morning, get the answer, and go about their day. Hey, they've got the word of God in them for that day. Yes, they do. Gosh, Shakia, thank you so much for sharing. This has been wonderful. I truly appreciate it. I, I hope and pray that all the people that you're touching just, continue to plant that seed that you're planting for, for others. So thank you. Thank you for, for having me and allowing me to speak to you and visit with your audience. Again, I'm, I'm aiming to change your life. One, one Bible quiz at a time. Will you be a part of that change?
