These "training" videos are excerpts from Tylers YouTube channel
Welcome to Underdogs, bootstrappers, game Changers. These episodes are a little bit different than our normal scheduled interviews. These are training videos, since part of the mission of Underdogs is to help more of you get to success and build more kind-hearted badasses. These special sections in the podcast are more directed towards a success roadmap. Quite often you'll notice that the training videos coincide with an interview, so don't be alarmed that this is a little bit different and if you're looking for an interview, go ahead and skip to the next chapter. But it is my hope that some of this helps the roadmap that is your success. Oh boy, let's try something a little bit different.
Speaker 1:I have not sold a $400 million company. I don't drive a Ferrari. You'll never catch me wearing a Rolex watch but entrepreneurship business is my life. I wasn't one of those entrepreneurs that I always knew wanted to be one, like much of the big names of the day, starting out selling candy bars at 12 years old. I had my first job at 13, lived in low income housing and worked with the landlord there. Remember smashing concrete with a sledgehammer and loading it into a backhoe. It's funny now because I've had the city ask me to bring on kids for employment and job experience and I'll feel bad to bring on a kid and have him take out the garbage at 15 years old.
Speaker 1:There are a lot of you out there that would benefit immensely from being brave enough to jump into business. Most of you are the hard workers. Most of you come from nothing and you just haven't dared to dream large enough. Sure, you have the Zuckerbergs of this world and the other big wigs that have opened billion dollar companies. They started with a mindset and a lot of advantages to do so. The channel is a little bit different. I'm going to teach you business. I'm going to teach you business from the point of view of somebody that started with nothing truly nothing like living in a dirt lot with no electricity, no running water, $4,000 to start it and made it happen. I wish I had these videos. I wish I had me as a confidant and help to tell you the truth about what business is. I got my ass kicked, but I learned Most people would be really happy with the result, but I wasn't.
Speaker 1:I've learned over time that I benefit immensely from finding businesses that align with me. In fact, when I see most of those online that get all the attention and they're driving the fancy car at 40 years old, especially so they can talk to you Younger audience, makes me think it's either a gimmick or they really haven't learned what life's about. Have the fancy stuff, you've worked hard for it, no problem there but life is about purpose, and you can find a tremendous amount of purpose through business. I'm fond of saying the term that I coined don't do something you love in this world. Do something you hate. Open a business that solves that thing that you hate. I've now learned ways that my businesses, yes, make money, but they also align to some greater good that I'm working on. It can be both and I'm not talking about charities Nothing against you, folks but I don't find them efficient. I find actual earning income, businesses that have collateral impacts of good to be the most effective way to not only live a life of fulfillment not an easy one but one of purpose and value. So that's why I've created this new channel.
Speaker 1:I want to start from the start. For all you bootstrappers out there, it's a different kind of channel. I'm not going to come at you and tell you how easy it is, but I'm going to teach you practical information that most people won't. We're going to dive deep in the dirt. Luckily, I help many of you on a daily basis, and so I get great questions that I think would help the world more. I've developed a way to teach you accounting in three hours and make it fun, although we got to lay some groundwork before it.
Speaker 1:Those of you that have been in business a while and you still haven't embraced your books this will be a moment when you're like how did I breathe without air? I'm right where you were Started with nothing, tried to hire it out, didn't think I needed it, and the second I embraced it. My business is made to turn for the better, and now I'm the biggest nerd for accounting. We'll talk marketing, but we're not going to talk about how you can spend a bunch of money that you don't have. I'll tell you how I learned to organically market and got some of the biggest companies on the planet to buy from me, and it's going to be way simpler than you thought it would be. There's a guru around town that is currently being brought down, and probably many of you know him, and what people say over and over is when you actually get into one of his really expensive seminars, it's all back of the hand knowledge, and that's what most of this stuff is, but it's approaching the hard work instead of looking for the fancy trick.
Speaker 1:The other thing I'm hoping on this channel is I have two degrees. I have one for my hobbies and I have one for my work life. My biochemistry degree allows me to understand fitness on a level that most people don't in nutrition. I get asked consistently from pro athletes doctors about fitness advice. I do believe life is greater, fulfilled by having an amazing fitness routine, and you're going to need it for your business stress so daily. I want to drop some of that knowledge in here and please feel free to ask questions, especially if you're new to starting. If you're here in Phoenix, arizona, I'll even pick out a workout with you.
Speaker 1:Secondly, I got an MBA, so you don't have to. I will be one of the few people out there that was basically a high school dropout that went back, turned a page and values education. But just like I talk about my mixed martial arts gym, you can't just show up and say I paid my fee. Make me the best in the world. I feel school is the same way you got to put in too. My college career has been an amazing moment for me and one of fear that I broke down. I started my first business while put in too. My college career has been an amazing moment for me and one of fear that I broke down. I started my first business while still in college and refused to drop out because I knew it was quitting. I will always value my education, but it doesn't mean it's for everyone. There's a ton of value in being self-taught, which I still do, but there's tremendous principles that I've learned both through my biochemistry program and my MBA program that I will weave through my YouTube channel.
Speaker 1:Some of you that might be familiar, or maybe five of you know that I'm heavily involved with things of passion. My mixed martial arts partner and I have a podcast for bullied kids. 100% of it goes to charity. I have a podcast for underdog business people very similar goes to charity. I have a podcast for underdog business people Very similar to the content that I'm going to bring into here. We've started a philanthropy for connecting resources to age out, foster youth. We have a docu-series where we travel the world and try to redefine a different type of hero.
Speaker 1:I daily try to work in systems that we're not paying attention to the collateral impacts of hero. I daily try to work in systems that were not paying attention to the collateral impacts of something, trying to hit them at the base level before they get to the pot boil over port. Sometimes this is volunteering, sometimes this is businesses, but I think once you get to 42 years old, you start to think how you can leave a footprint on the things that you care about, and a little bit less on if I can turn the key on my Ferrari today. So, with that all being said, welcome to my new channel. I hope you get value out of it. It scares the hell out of me, but I will attempt to go live somewhat often to work on anything you want to work. On that day I built myself into the person I am today and I'm still working on it.
Speaker 1:As a kid I was lost, made mistakes and I wish I had a little bit more guidance along the way. Made mistakes and I wish I had a little bit more guidance along the way. I was never given a fair shot in my youth because my dad was in prison. A lot of people don't think the apple falls far from the tree, but I promise you you can be anything you want to be, you can do anything you want to do, and the second you turn that gun drop around in your head and realize that that's when the magic will happen. I'll do my best to guide you along the way with everything I've learned through formal education getting my butt kicked and making mistakes. Welcome to a channel I like to call. The World Needs More Kind-Hearted Badasses.
