Dr. Samantha Morici is an American veterinarian living in the heart of Amsterdam and is the founder of The Good Boys Club in Amsterdam. Her story of leaving everything she thought she ever wanted behind and choosing reinvention is a powerful one. Sami’s journey begins in New York. After years of veterinary training and specializing in animal oncology, Sami had a pivotal moment that led her to question the traditional career trajectory. Despite being on the path she always dreamed of she instead withdrew from her residency and packed her bags, and, together with her dog Luca, moved to Amsterdam to seek a different kind of life.
Navigating a new culture and language while working in an emergency veterinary clinic during the pandemic, Sami quickly adapted to the Dutch approach to life and community, where work-life balance and quality of relationships are highly valued. She shares her observations on how Amsterdam’s unique values, such as the importance of animal welfare and community care, have influenced her veterinary philosophy. Sami’s practice and membership community, The Good Boys Club, combines house calls with community, making her an accessible part of each pet’s life. Her vision is to reimagine the veterinary experience, creating a supportive partnership for pet owners, with an emphasis on the pet’s quality of life.
Sami also shares some of the things to consider logistically when bringing or adopting for pets abroad and offers valuable insights on choosing the right animal for your lifestyle.
