Pat Walsh

Ever found yourself attempting to belt out tunes at a karaoke party after losing your voice cheering for your favorite team? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me, Patrick "Pat" Walsh, and I’m here to share all about it on Pat's Peeps podcast. As the rain sets the scene in Northern California, I recount festive gatherings with my friend Darlyne "with a Y,' filled with singing and hearty laughter. You’ll even hear about my unexpected detour through Sirius XM’s NASCAR channel, a pit stop that added a curious twist to my usual channel surfing adventure. So grab a cup of cocoa and join me as I send out warm Christmas wishes and express my heartfelt gratitude to all our amazing listeners.

Switching gears like a pro quarterback, I dive into the NFL landscape with unfiltered opinions on the Los Angeles Rams, who are taking the NFC West by storm. Get ready for my candid takes on the Raiders’ struggles under Josh McDaniels and the puzzling coaching changes with Raheem Morris. I even take a humorous jab at those too-perfect holiday commercials where luxury cars magically appear with big bows, making the rest of us question our gift-giving abilities. Plus, I tackle the media's portrayal of Trump and ABC News’ recent settlement with a critical eye. Expect a blend of humor, insight, and a healthy dose of holiday cheer in this packed episode!

Speaker 1:

hey there, welcome, hello there. Well, thank you so much. No, thank you not enough. Everything, oh, thanks. How are you? It's a Monday. It is the Pat's Peeps podcast number 173. 173 as I look out my studio window into the rainy foothills of Northern California. This is a Monday, it is the 16th day of December 2024, which means what does it mean? It means we're down to what? Less than a week, Less than a week before Christmas. So hopefully you're getting everything done in terms of Christmas, getting ready for that, getting all set, and everything's going well for you and for yours. So Merry Christmas time from the Pat's Peeps podcast. And again, thank you for being part of our growing audience.

Speaker 1:

My name is Patrick Pat Walsh. I do go by either Patrick or Pat or Patty, or you know whatever you got for me, but I am the host of the Pat Walsh Show on KPK Radio in Sacramento, 93.1 FM 1530 AM, streaming live everywhere on your free iHeart app and, of course, you can heck. Wherever you're listening to this podcast, I'm very grateful, whether it's on your free iHeart app or any of the other many, many other streaming platforms, your Spotify or your, you know, Buzzsprout, or Apple or iTunes or whatever it is. Thank you. Hey, today being a Monday, rainy days and Monday, oh, you know they don't get me down, but it makes me think of that song with the carpenters, you know. You know they don't get me down, but it makes me think of that song, the Carpenters. You know, Rainy days and Mondays, oh, you know, speaking of singing, I am losing. I've been losing part of my. I kind of lose my voice a little bit and I attribute this to, I guess, rooting for my team Thursday night, because it was the next day. I barely had a voice. You know, I didn't even think I was rooting that loud. I must have been, Because I've lost my voice. I'm getting it back a little bit, but you know I was going.

Speaker 1:

Darlene with a Y she gets a lot of mentions on my podcast because she's a friend of the show and she's just one of the doggone nicest people ever and she always has these karaoke parties. Hi, Darlene, hi there. Darlene with a Y, ladies and gentlemen, she has these pod, she has these podcasts, these parties, and you know so many of my listeners show up Robin and Vince, I mean, there's a whole list. When I start naming names, Johnny, when I start naming names Mario, Then I know I'm going to leave someone out and Sherry and Lori don't call me Wolfharner. She's going to be mad that I said that. I'm just going to say Lori, I'm going to call her Harner.

Speaker 1:

Anyhow, all these great people who and there's more who get together, I mean it's amazing, Denise, and we all do karaoke because Darlene likes to do karaoke, Darlene and her son, Michael, who I miss. Get your butt up here, Michael. It's Christmas time, See your ma. She lives about six miles up the road from me and so I go there to karaoke saturday night. I don't have a voice, but day gone and I had a good time. John is a listener, john, his daughter, sierra, good people, and did I say robin? I think I did kurt, Ted, see, now if I leave someone off the list I'm gonna feel terrible. The point being, it was just nice to see everyone. And then you do the karaoke and I'm trying to do.

Speaker 1:

I got a couple of songs picked out the head. You know I think I can do because I have. No, I got a very raspy. I was trying to think like a Keith Richards song, she's my little rock and roll baby. But then you know the next part of that song Tits and ass was. So, mama, I'm sure it's Christmas time, Although that is one of my favorite Stones tunes. Love that one. Tattoo you right. But you know what I was doing. I narrowed it down to Family Affair by Sly and the Family Stone. One child grows up to be you know that Because it's low and growly. But I ended up someone put up by accident. They put up the Night Time is the Right Time by Ray Charles. I just roll with that. Darlene with a Y and Mr Pantlick there did a version of you Don't Bring Me Flowers. Who was that? Streisand and Diamond. I loved their version. So anyhow, that's what we did. We had a great night. Thank you to everyone who showed up. Thank you for my Rams blanket from Vincent and Denise. Just great people. Thank you so much.

Speaker 1:

I was listening. I was switching channels. The other day this is just a random thought Just occurred to me and I was kind channels the other day. It was just a random thought, it just occurred to me and I was kind of going. It was on Sirius XM and I'm looking for some. I don't know, I'm just searching around. I was listening to some Rat Pack kind of Christmassy stuff. I was switching back and forth between that and the NFL and some other things. And in the midst of switching my radio I came across the NASCAR channel.

Speaker 1:

I don't listen to the NASCAR channel that often. I mean I enjoy NHRA drags. I do listen. I mean NASCAR is huge. It's not that I wouldn't listen to it. There's a lot of stations out of what 300 and some stations that I wouldn't listen to it. There's a lot of stations out of what 300 and some stations that I don't get to that often. This just happens to be one of them. There's nothing against NASCAR and there's ones I listen to a lot. And the other point being, I get stuck on. I think it's channel 80, no 90, because 89 I do listen to Major League Baseball and then 88 is football, the NFL. Excuse me, pardon me, I'm trying to clear my voice because again I'm losing my voice and I still have to do a show tonight.

Speaker 1:

And during my couple of minutes there on the NASCAR channel, I just thought well, you know I landed there, let me check it out for a second. And again, this just was in my radio mind. This just was in my radio mind. This just occurred to me. The guy comes on the air on the NASCAR channel and he says something to this effect. Because I know how they do it, because, like, they'll set up a sponsor desk. You know, from the fill in the blank sports desk, from let me grab something on my desk, Let me see what do I have there? Okay, From the Sparkle Brand Rep's Notebook Sports Desk, you know it's a sponsor. Oh, here's something on my desk right here. Oh, this is old school, I was going through my toys the other day. From the Tower Records Video Book Sports Desk. So, anyhow, on the Racing Channel they said. On the Racing Channel, they said from the Toyota commercial free zone.

Speaker 1:

Now, my first inclination there, my first thought, was I'm sorry, did you just say from the Toyota commercial free zone? Is that what you said? Because maybe it's just me and it could be me. Isn't that in itself a commercial? It's kind of like the point I was making a couple of weeks ago on Facebook. I wrote literally on Facebook. I promise not to comment on Facebook today.

Speaker 1:

You know to which people got it and they were. They were, you know, replying and cracking up and offering their own two cents, but to say welcome to the toyota commercial free zone and then to compound the problem I'm not making this Find it on the line or find it wherever it was. And again, I could be paraphrasing slightly, but here's what I did. Hi, welcome back from the Toyota commercial free zone. Just go to commercial brought to you by toyotacom or go to commercial.

Speaker 1:

Go to toyotacom for more. You know what do you mean. First of all, the commercials in the title. Second of all and I don't have to point this out to anyone because you're not bamboozled when you say go to toyotacom or whatever, that's a commercial. So not only is it not a commercial for your zone, but you just did two commercials by telling us that it's not a commercial. Smoke and mirrors oh, I've got so many good things I could tell you about smoke and mirrors and radio and TV and things. By the way, I'm sitting here by the, as I mentioned, it's raining out today and I'm sitting by the fire, the cozy wood stove, it just feels so good.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it's been a really interesting balance, in my opinion. The weather I think I probably mentioned this last time, but a couple of years ago we wouldn't see any rain and that was like for two or three or four years. It seemed like where you'd get into December, january, february still isn't raining. We were all talking about the drought. December, january, february still isn't raining. We're all talking about the drought. Then a couple of years go by, a few years go by. I think it was a couple of years ago, maybe now I'm going to say two or three winters ago. We got that really wet, heavy storm up there in the mountains and in the foothills and all the wires were down, all the trees were down. I had never seen so much destruction in this area from snow, but it was so wet and so heavy after a drought. And then we begin to see the bomb cyclone and the atmospheric rivers and all that made-up crap. We see rain, large amounts of rain. Now this winter it's been a very nice blend. Like the mountains are getting some snow, we're getting rain. The last few days prior to a couple days ago was nice it was beautiful out. We got some sunshine, so my point being, I'm really enjoying the mixture of the weather right now as we round out 2024.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of rounding out 2024, we will be doing really heavily this week. I'm going to try not to get off track on my radio show the year that was the year in review. I have so much audio to go back and remember and discuss from the year that was 2024. So we'll do that on the Pat Wall Show. I hope you can check that out. We love growing that audience as well. I love growing that this audience to go to my radio show and certainly invite the radio listeners to come and listen to my Pat Speeps podcast. I love the crossover we are also planning on.

Speaker 1:

I was going to do this Friday night but just like it always happens. This is why I should never promote this on my radio show. You know I say we was going to do this Friday night but just like it always happens this is why I should never promote this on my radio show. You know I say we're going to do something and then someone gets sick and then we end up can't do it. That's what happened last year. I promoted that my radio show last week that on this Friday night we would be doing what I'm gonna. I look forward to a little experiment on the Pat Walsh show, which which is to do an old 40s-style radio show. You know, welcome to the. You know whatever, fibber McGee and Molly, you know that, old time with old music and everything in it, sound effects, you know. Well, that's not a sound effect. I don't know what that was. I don't know what.

Speaker 1:

I was trying to emulate there. I don't know if we're going to be able to pull this off, first of all because I'm losing my voice. Second of all, now we have to switch it to Thursday because someone just can't do it Friday. So now I got to make sure the other people who's going to do it Thursday can do it Thursday, for criminy sakes. Now I can hit my desk Criminy, hey man.

Speaker 1:

You know, what I love is when people tell me that they're binge listening to my podcast, or when I see them in person and they start quoting things or talking to me about things that they heard, not on my radio show so much, but on this podcast. Someone told me they got on an airplane coming from Cleveland. Oh, it was Robin, robin, and she said yeah, I was listening to your podcast. Download your podcast and listen on the plane. Thank you, man. It just makes me feel good. 2025 is going to be great, so hopefully we'll be able to do the live show Friday night. We'll wait, we'll have to see.

Speaker 1:

I'm also going to have to see if I'm going to do my Christmas untangling contest, which we've done a couple of years in a row. I don't know. There's some logistics that need to be ironed out, but that could happen, and we usually give away concert tickets. We have two people who detangle my extremely tangled Christmas lights. I figured out a few years ago because I'm not a good detangler so I thought you know, hey, why don't I give something away to someone who can untangle my Christmas lights and not just these, but these too. Now I have to tangle them every year on purpose to get them retangled. So hopefully that's all on. Maybe on Thursday night, maybe it's a Thursday Friday thing. We'll see After the weekend. I'm just going to say this, please allow me. I lost my voice for this, so I'm going to go.

Speaker 1:

Come on, rams. Sorry Niner fans, sorry Seahawks fans, sorry Cardinal fans and sorry Ram haters. The Rams are my team and they're in first place as of last night. The Packers ran roughshod on the Seahawks in Seattle and that means that the Rams and the Seahawks have the same record right now, top of the NFC West. But the Rams beat the Seahawks earlier in the season and they beat them in Seattle when the Rams were injured. Now they'll play the Week 18 game at SoFi in LA with. It could be everything on the line against the Seahawks, and right now the Seahawks.

Speaker 1:

We saw Geno Smith, their quarterback, go down last night with an ankle injury. He was agonizing on the sideline. He did not return. So who is it? Sam Howell? Is that his name, sam Howell? Sam Howell took over for Geno Smith.

Speaker 1:

Meanwhile the Rams are healthy and have won 7 of 9. But you know what? And so now this week they go to the Jets to play the Jets, who are an abysmal team. They did get the win this week at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who made the Jets look okay for a day. But here's the thing Just when you think that, that's when you get beat. You know they call them a trap game or whatever.

Speaker 1:

And I remember Jared Goff's last year with the Rams. What sealed it to me as a diehard Ram fan? What sealed it to me? The reason Jared Goff was no longer going to be a Ram was because of that game at New York. He threw interceptions, he was not good, he cost the Rams and the Jets sucked and the Rams were good but they weren't consistent. You know that wasn't consistent to finish off the year. It was towards the end of the year, as I recall, and I still think that's what cost him the game. So you really need and I know that McVay will let them know look, you cannot have a letdown. That's the last thing you would ever need is to lose to the Jets because all that momentum that you've rolled into here, all this momentum that you're feeling, hey, you'll lose it, like that.

Speaker 1:

The Raiders played tonight against the Falcons. Raheem Morris is now the Falcons head coach. Former Ram defensive coordinator as of last year, won the Super Bowl with the Rams as a D coordinator. I like him so much but his team is so disappointing For me, I'm not surprised. My opinion is that I'm not a big Kirk Cousins guy, with all due respect. Good quarterback puts up good numbers, throws a lot of picks, picks, as we've seen.

Speaker 1:

There was a reason that I think Minnesota was okay to move on. I think Washington initially was okay to move on from Kirk Cousins. There's no denying it. He's had a decent career. I just don't, eh, just not my cup of tea. I'm glad he's not my quarterback. I just think Stafford is clearly a better quarterback. But again, that's opinions, for whatever my opinion is worth.

Speaker 1:

But so he's with Atlanta now with Raheem Morris, and the Falcons are just the Falcons. The Falcons are doing what they do every year Mediocrity at best. But guess what? There's a team that used to say commitment to excellence, commitment to excellence. That was the Raiders. So if the you know, mediocre at best Falcons meet up with the commitment to excellence, raiders, I think the Falcons have a chance, because the Raiders are pathetic. Sorry Raider fan, they're pathetic. Sorry Raider fan, they're pathetic. There are some big-time changes that need to happen with the Raiders, and I could go over so much of it, but I won't. I'll gloss over some of it that I really could rant about, but I will say this Part of that rant would be Raiders getting Josh McDaniels when they did.

Speaker 1:

Please, are you joking? What an embarrassment. Well, what are you saying? Josh McDaniels? He was the offensive coordinator under Bill Belichick and they won all the Super Bowls. Yeah, but it wasn't his. Look, everyone's got their again entitled to their opinion, but Josh McDaniels was not a motivator or leader of men. You look at him yelling at his team. It's embarrassing, it's cringeworthy to watch it. Yep, he's racking up the rings and you might say, hey, it doesn't matter what you say, patrick, this man's got seven Super Bowl rings. Yeah, he also picked Tim Tebow, and I love Tim Tebow as a human being, with the first-round draft pick, I don't know about that.

Speaker 1:

With Denver, just, I don't have to go into detail, but I would rant about him a little bit. You know you're talking about a guy who was with the Patriots during the Tuck rule and so, instead of going to the Raider family after you dissed, john Gruden made him out to be some kind of a racist, which is utter BS you hire Josh McDaniels. All I expect to hear is this Wrong, what's that? Horn on the Price is right to lose your heart. Whatever that is, jeez, come on man. So the Falcons catch a break tonight. Falcons win this game, even if Michael Penick starts his first game ever.

Speaker 1:

The rookie, the lefty, I think it'll be Cousins, but he's been abysmal. I mean, how many picks has he thrown in the last two weeks? And they have to win because Tampa Bay has been winning. Baker Mayfield's looked good in Tampa Bay. Sorry, I'm turning it into a football talk all of a sudden, but it's on my mind.

Speaker 1:

So the Rams yeah, they're in first place. They started the season 1-4, and they've won seven of their last nine games. They beat the Bills. The Bills had a seven-game winning streak going. They beat the Vikings who were unbeaten at the time 5-0. Rams beat them. They've swept the Niners. Yeah, the Niners have dealt with injuries. I get that They've also lost a couple of games along the way where they were trying to put things back together. They had a rough loss to Philadelphia, who was on a 10-game roll. But the Rams are healthier now and they get Tyler Higbee back next week. They're tied in who they haven't had in over a year. To my recollection it's been at least, if not over a year. So now they're on a roll Three games to go At the Jets, home to the Cardinals, home to the Seahawks, and it could come down to that game.

Speaker 1:

As far as the 49ers are concerned, I mean let's look forward to next year and there's a lot of things to figure out. Debo Samuel, for one, I mean come on. Devontae Campbell, I love what they're going to do. They're going to kind of suspend him. I heard Like they're going to suspend him instead of outright letting him go, so he doesn't get his money, so no other team can pick him up, so he doesn't see. You know the end of the rainbow this season, which is a great move by San Francisco. You're not going to hear me applaud the San Francisco 49ers that often, but there it is Good for them.

Speaker 1:

And John Lynch, their GM, confronting him, telling him get the hell off the field. You know what Good for you, john Lynch, get the hell off the field. And then he had him escort. You know like if you got fired at work they'd have to escort you out the building. They have someone who escorts you. That's what they did to this guy, devontae Campbell, unbelievable man. I was talking on my show the other night about you ever see these Christmas commercials. You may be watching a movie, you're watching football, whatever sports, you're watching football, whatever sports, and suddenly you see this commercial and the commercial. Oh, it's so festive christmasy and um, oh honey.

Speaker 1:

And then they go outside and suddenly they're so excited, you know, like they're blindfolded. Whatever. They open the door and outside there's like the brand new Mercedes or BMW with a big ribbon around it, and they had like two of them. You know one for each of them. And you're sitting there like, geez, what did I? Where did I go wrong in life? How come I can't go buy two $150,000 Mercedes for me and my sweetie for Christmas? You ever feel that way?

Speaker 2:

SNL must have hey, matt, I think there might be one more gift for your mom right there.

Speaker 3:

It hasn't been a normal year, so this Christmas, get her something extraordinary. During the Lexus December to Remember sales event, nathan, you didn't. With flexible financing and 0% APR, there's never been a better time to buy or lease a new Lexus. Merry Christmas, baby. Are you kidding me, nathan? Did you seriously buy a car without asking me? Well, because for Christmas this is a major purchase purchase right but it was a December to remember.

Speaker 3:

Alexis, we don't have the money for this. Nathan, we don't know, we don't. Your father doesn't? Your father hasn't worked since last March what?

Speaker 2:

yeah? Kovac has hit a lot of people hard, and I'm no exception.

Speaker 3:

Nathan, you got fired in March 2019. Nothing to do with it.

Speaker 2:

Hey pal, I guess your old man's busted Mm.

Speaker 3:

It's beginning to look a lot like savings, so get to your local Lexus dealer today. How much did you spend on this ridiculous car, Nathan? It was only $39.99 to its signing.

Speaker 2:

Four grand, it's not that much, babe.

Speaker 3:

And how much is the monthly payment, the? What Did you think? This entire car cost $4,000?. Uh-huh, there's a monthly payment, yeah, but with the 0% APR. I think it's all good. Apr, do you mean APR?

Speaker 2:

I'm pretty sure it's APR. Wow, just wow. Hey, come on, it's Christmas. This is good. I did a good thing for us. Let's enjoy it. Dad, it's nine in the morning, so it's not like I have work later. Come on, hey. Hey, neighbor, you bought a Lexus. You come to me three weeks ago. Oh, Mike, help me I need money.

Speaker 3:

I can't buy Christmas gifts for my family.

Speaker 2:

My wife doesn't respect me. I didn't say that. My wife's cheating on me with everyone. Mom you are. I want to look cool in front of my son's girlfriend.

Speaker 3:

Ew, Dad, is that why you pierced your ear?

Speaker 2:

Uh, no, I've had this forever, I just need five grand to get back on my feet.

Speaker 1:

And then you buy a Lexus. Yeah well, it was beginning to look a lot like savings at my local Lexus dealer.

Speaker 2:

I want my money back man Tomorrow.

Speaker 3:

Hey Kathy, oh neighborly love you know what? We're taking this car back to the dealership now.

Speaker 2:

I better drive. Maybe we stop by Jenna's on the way over.

Speaker 3:

Show her this cool car your dad got huh Shut up, give the gift of Lexus and definitely talk it over first.

Speaker 1:

One of the last times that Saturday Night Live was actually funny, in my estimation. December to remember I always love that when they say it's a December to remember. I'm sure it is A December to remember. That's your Lexus deal, or whatever. You fill in the blank. Oh, this is good ABC agreeing to give $15 million to Donald Trump's presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit.

Speaker 1:

Have you heard this ABC News who? Yeah, you know I could go on my podcast and I could say to you without a shadow of a doubt and I mean this with all of my heart that ABC News is the most biased news organization I've heard on the radio by far. I could do that, I could say that on my podcast, but I won't, I won't. I won't say that on my podcast. I mean I could come on here and I could go. You know ABC News, like every Trump person that he selects for whatever job it happens to be, any of his appointments or in his selections, I could sit right here and I could say you know ABC News, every single one of them. They'll give you the news and they'll follow it up with what terrible scandal that person is embroiled in. I could tell you that, but I'm not going to. I could tell you that but I'm not going to no-transcript and pretend like America doesn't hear that. I could say that here on my podcast, but I won't do that no way. You know that whole thing with the 34 felonies and the Mueller report and the impeachments and the January 6th and the Trump supporters are like Hitler followers and the JD Vance is a kinder, more gentler version of fascist. Those comments you know when RFK Jr threw a support behind Trump during the campaign and they followed that up with his sister will disown him all of that stuff. I could say that about ABC News, but I'm not even going to bring it up on my podcast, so you'll have to listen to that somewhere else, certainly not here.

Speaker 1:

Part of the settlement for $15 million toward Donald Trump's presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos' inaccurate on-air assertion that the president-elect had been found civilly liable for raping writer E Jean Carroll. As part of the settlement made public this weekend. On Saturday ABC News then posted an editor's note to its website expressing regret over Stephanopoulos' statements during the March 10th segment on the this Week program. That's his program. The network will also pay a million dollar in legal fees to the law firm of Trump's attorney, alejandro Brito, which, of course, then again filed this under fake news. The settlement agreement describes ABC's presidential library payment as a quote charitable contribution, sure, with the money earmarked for a nonprofit organization that is being established in connection with the yet-to-be-built library.

Speaker 1:

Let's see what their editor's note had to say here. You want to? We should hear their editor's note. Is this the editor's note? Let me see if I can find it real quick. Let me see if I can find it real quick. Let me see, let's see if we can find it. Well, I don't know, I don't see the editor's note. It said it would give us the editor's note, but anyhow, it doesn't matter. You get the point. Fake news, yeah, they just don't get it at this point. They just don't get it. It's that kind of rhetoric that backfires. It's what backfired in the election. That's why you're paying that kind of money right now. I mean, I could say that, but I won't.

Speaker 1:

Hey, I'm going to lighten up on the politics and grab a record. At today's record I grab from the shelves, I think, because my Christmas tree is sitting over a section where my records are that I'm going to the same section because this is an M again. This artist begins with an M, so there's a little clue for you, a little hint. So on capital records, it looks to be all off-white. Uh label, I'll pull it out of the sleeve here. Oh, it's in geez, it's in absolutely mint condition this record. It's pristine. Got a little dust on the edge, where the edge has been showing through since probably the 80s here, I'm not exactly sure like 83 or something like that. Capitol Records Same song, both sides. One side is stereo, the other they're both stereo. Okay, so I'll tell you a little bit about the record here. Well, I think it was like 83 this came out.

Speaker 1:

I want to see if I'm right. Yeah, it is. Yep, it's a new wave song by an American new wave band released as a lead single from their fourth album, little Robbers, 1983. Thank you, patrick hey. The single peaked at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100, topped the Billboard Rock Top Tracks chart. In Canada, climbed to number 11, ended up 1983 as the country's 98th best-selling single.

Speaker 1:

The lead singer of the band said in various interviews that the song touches upon themes such as the loss of virginity and innocence. She has also mentioned how the inspiration came from knowing that summer's ending. When you hear the ice cream truck go by for the last time, you know he won't be back at, know he won't be back for a while. In an interview in 2019, she told Linda Tuchio-Kunz. She said this song percolated for years, the song written after her parents had died her mom by suicide, her dad from illness. It's a reflection on those moments in her life when things are changing, she said, like when it's a beautiful sunny day and a cold wind blows and you know the end of summer is coming. So this is a song called Suddenly Last Summer. It's by the motels, some would say Martha Davis and the motels.

Speaker 2:

It happened one summer. It happened one summer. It happened one time. It happened forever. For a short time. A place, for a moment, an end to a dream Forever I loved you forever, it seemed. One summer never ends. One summer never begins. It keeps me standing still. It takes all my will. And then, suddenly, last summer. Sometimes I never leave, but sometimes I would, sometimes I stayed too long. I never leave, but sometimes I would. Sometimes I stay too long, but sometimes I would. Sometimes it frightens me, sometimes it would. Sometimes I'm all alone and wish that I could. One summer never ends. One summer never begins. It keeps me standing still. It takes all my will.
