My God Can't believe it. We're eight days away from Valentine's Day. I don't know about you. I'm already seeing like Easter cards, like St Patrick's and Easter cards. I'm like man, it's February, Easter's a couple months away. How much leeway do we need to buy our Easter cards and our Easter stuff?

Anyhow how are you? It's a Thursday. Looking out the studio windows into the beautiful foothills of Northern California, the rain is back. I'm sitting next to my wood stove staying all cozy on this Thursday Always my pleasure to be with you guys. Thanks for tuning in for the 205th episode. My goodness, I can't even believe it.

Yesterday, for the first time you may have noticed if you've been following along yesterday was the first time in a while that I posted. I think it's the first time I ever actually posted the podcast from the patspeepscom site and right away I got a message, a couple of messages, from people going hey, this is pretty amazing. What's going on here. We are getting a bunch of businesses that are interested in what we're doing now. Oh my gosh, we have chambers of commerce, we have rotary clubs. I have businesses every day and we're about on tomorrow. Oh gosh, please stay tuned for tomorrow, for the next, as we begin and start to expose the next phase of what we're doing here. This is going to be so good. I'm so happy to do things for the community, for all the Pats peeps. It's super exciting Everything we've been working on behind the scenes. You know, yesterday was a day where I just got so much positive feedback from people and people are discovering the podcast. I have have people saying I got another message, two messages this morning. Oh gosh, I should have pulled those up. People saying that they're discovering the podcast or they're binge listening to the podcast. It's just, I mean, I come in here and I do this every day. Again, I know I'm not specializing in any particular thing. I just be in living my life and talking to you, kind of living life and sharing each other's experiences and so forth, and between this and my show, and I'm just so grateful. So, thank you for the nice messages.

Yesterday we did rants on the podcast. It seemed like it was pretty popular. A lot of F-bombs, that's right, lots of F-bombs, lots of other nice choice words. And I looked at the podcast numbers. I'm like, dang, people like this stuff. Okay, I'm trying to see what you like, but it's kind of all over the map. I mean, you like it if I play you know rants where people are, you know throwing out the F-bomb, but you also like it when I'm just sitting peacefully in the park looking at the ducks and reminiscing about my mother and 70s music and feeding the ducks and all that. You guys are great man, we have the best audience. So we did some rants yesterday, some big-time meltdowns, some ticked-off people. So I couldn't quit thinking about that overnight and, if you don't mind, here on Pat's Peeps 205 on this rainy cozy Thursday, I thought I would play some more of those for you, and then I have other things to get to.

Speaker 1:

These are the ones that came to mind last night. These are ones that were so memorable that people to this day, if you say a couple of these, if you say one word, it will immediately elicit responses and memories of these rants, and I'll tell you all right away. These are all from sports, okay, so let's go back. Oh gosh, how long ago was this? This was like 15 years ago, maybe something like that, and my brother was at this game. My brother, steve, is a Bears fan, okay.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know who he went with. I don't recall all of that kind of stuff. It doesn't really make any difference. He went with some people to go to a Monday night football game where the Bears were going to take on the Arizona Cardinals and, for whatever reason, the Bears were getting wiped out in this game by the Cardinals. So someone after you I mean, you think about some Monday night football game why would you leave? Why would you leave the game, especially if one of these are your team.

Speaker 1:

Anyhow, steve was convinced by one of the people that he rode there to the game with I don't think he drove, or whatever that they were going to leave at halftime because the game was completely out of hand. Now, I don't even remember what the score was. This is just how I recall it. So they leave at the halftime. Well, the Bears come back and they beat the Cardinals, to which Steve, being the Bears fan, did not even see that. Why is that game memorable? Well, because the coach at that time was one Dennis Green. He was the former Vikings coach, I remember, but then he went to the Cardinals. This is his very famous reaction to his loss to the Bears that night Four picks against Grossman and two fumbles.

Speaker 3:

What did you see about the Bears? Shut them down that way? No, you know, I mean, we, just the Bears are what. Four picks against Grossman and two fumbles. What do you see about the Bears? Shut them down that way? No, you know, I mean, we, just the Bears are what we thought they were. Ha, they're what we thought they were. I love when he hits the mic. We played them in preseason. Who the hell takes a third game in a preseason like it's bulls**t? We played them in the damn field. Now, if you want to crown them, then crown their ass. But they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook.

Speaker 1:

But we thought they were.

And we let them off the hook, mm-hmm. Thanks Coach, thanks Coach. I love the guy at the end. Thanks, coach. All right from the world of football Literally, I hear this almost every this is how long ago was this? I'm just guessing kind of on how long ago these were Again, I'm just going to go 15, maybe 15 years. I'm just guessing kind of on how long ago these were Again, I'm just going to go 15, maybe 15 years, I don't know. But this came, oh, this was 2001. So 24 years ago, wow, 2001. That was a memorable year for all the wrong reasons, but I do remember this Legendary coach, jim Moore, after losing to the 49ers 40-21. I mean, how many times have you heard the word, or someone has uttered the word, playoffs and you didn't go? Playoffs, playoffs.

Speaker 4:

Well, I'll start off by saying this Do not blame that game on the defense, okay, okay, I don't care who you play, whether it's a high school team, a junior college team, a college team, much less an nfl team. When you turn the ball over five times four interceptions, one for touchdown, three others in field position to set up touchdowns you ain't going to beat anybody. I just talked about Anybody. All right, and that was a disgraceful performance in my opinion. We threw that game, we gave it away. By doing that, we gave them the frigging game. In my opinion, that sucked. You know you can't turn the ball over five times like that. Holy crap, I don't know who the hell we think we are when we do something like that.

Speaker 4:

I love this guy Unbelievable. I have turnovers. Here comes the big quote We've thrown four interceptions for touchdowns this year. That might be an NFL record. That's pitiful. I mean, it's absolutely pitiful to perform like that. Pitiful. What's that? Playoffs? Don't talk about it. Playoffs you kidding me? Playoffs I just hope we can win a game. Playoffs.

Speaker 1:

And you have to say it like that. You can't go. Playoffs, playoffs. Yeah, playoffs, playoffs. I'm just hoping we can win a game absolutely pitiful.

Speaker 4:

I get here to perform like that pitiful. What's that? Uh, playoffs, we'll talk about playoffs, you Playoffs. I just hope we can win a game.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's so good I just love that, Another one that you could barely say the word without this again eliciting this particular quote, without thinking back to this memorable quote, quote, quote, quote. You know, if you say, hey, you want to go, practice Allen Iverson would say practice, anybody tell you that I miss practice.

Speaker 5:

If a coach say I miss practice and y'all hear it, then that's that. I mean I might have missed one practice this year, sure, but if somebody say he doesn't come to practice, it can be one practice.

Speaker 1:

This is. When is this? This is? Let me see if I can tell you when this is. I remember this so well. Allen Iverson with the 76ers Do, do, do, do 2006. This was tax deadline day April 15, 2006. I can't believe it was that long, yeah, I guess. So. All right, so any Allen Iverson practice.

Speaker 5:

Out of all the practices this year. That's enough. If I can't practice, I can't practice. Man, if I'm hurt, I'm hurt. I mean, simple as that. It ain't about that. No, it's not. It's not at all. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, but it's easy to talk about. It's easy to sum it up when you just talk about practice, we sitting here I'm supposed to be the franchise player and we in here talking about practice, I mean, listen, we talking about practice, not a game, Not a game, not a game. We talking about practice.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, but what about practice, Alan? Not a game.

Speaker 5:

Some elected Democrats are so steamed about Doge. Congresswoman LaMonica McIver says we are at war, ilhan Omar says we might actually see somebody get killed, and Chris Van Hollen says we have to fight this in the Congress. We have to fight this in the streets.

Speaker 1:

Bob Hudson says war, what is it good for?

Speaker 6:

And may I just point out, if you heard that type of violent, enticing rhetoric from our side of the aisle, from Republican leaders on Capitol Hill, I think there would be a lot more outrage in this room today.

Speaker 6:

Absolutely it's unacceptable the comments that have been made by these Democrat leaders and, frankly, they don't even know what they're talking about, because President Trump was an elected with a mandate from the American people to make this government more efficient. He campaigned across this country with Elon Musk, musk vowing that Elon was going to head up the Department of Government Efficiency and the two of them, with a great team around them, were going to look at the receipts of this federal government and ensure it's accountable to American taxpayers. That's all that is happening here, and for Democrat officials to incite violence and encourage Americans to take to the streets is incredibly alarming, and they should be held accountable for that rhetoric.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, oh, it's the party of tolerance. Let's fight in the street. We want criminals and murderers to stay here.

Please? It sounds like something that they're most concerned about is Doge engineers with access to treasury systems. Can you clarify do the Doge engineers have read-only access in these systems, so they are not allowed to write new code?

They are not, and you know what I love about Caroline Leavitt, too, is she says it all with a smile on her face and passion.

Speaker 2:

Nbc is reporting that some of the illegal immigrants that we've seen rounded up and arrested are not being deported. They're being released with ankle or wrist monitoring devices or they have to check in on the phone. So is the administration arresting more people than you have room for? I?

Speaker 6:

have seen the reports and I'm glad you brought it up because we want to address it. There have been a total of 461 illegal aliens this is of this morning, when I got this information from DHS that have been released from custody. Of the more than 8,000 that have been arrested since President Trump was inaugurated, it's less than 6%, and there are reasons for their release. Some of the factors include a lack of significant likelihood of removal in the foreseeable future. Lack of detention availability, which is something this president and this administration has been incredibly vocal about. We are doing everything we can to deport and detain illegal immigrants, but we need Congress's help to increase funding for Border Patrol and for ICE to increase detention capability in our facilities. And then other serious medical conditions have also been the reasons for some of the release of these individuals, but none of them have final deportation orders. Many of them are probably contesting their immigration status. I'd refer you to DHS for more details, but I did get that information because I knew it would be a question.

Speaker 1:

There you go. So there you go. There you go. There's a little day's politics today, stuff that I was keeping an eye on. So I pulled a record from my rare record collection. I almost played this yesterday but to be honest, it just didn't seem like the right time, the right mood to play this particular record. Because this is different, this is very different, this one here today. I'm going to play it for you. Take a look at the record label. Pull it out of the record sleeve In record sleeve 2494. I'm going to look at the quality of the vinyl first. I'm looking at this side it has. It's beautiful.

Speaker 1:

I can't believe, I really can't believe the condition this record is in. It's been sitting on the shelf since 1966. Think about what was going on three years before man landed on the moon 1966. Not for sale rca victor, white. It's got the radio sticker on there that says 1966. It's got a. Someone wrote in pen ballpoint, pen 12666. So we'll see how close it is to the actual release date 12666.

Speaker 1:

There is a different song on the other side, by the way. Not for sale, white label, rca Victor. So let me tell you a little bit about this particular 45. God, I can't believe this is pretty rare. All of these are just so rare.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, this one is a little different. It is a very patriotic song, it is a ballad. Oh gosh, I'll give it away if I give this Anyhow. It was one of the few popular songs of the Vietnam War years to cast the military in a positive light. Remember all the quote draft dodgers People didn't want. There's a lot of protests, obviously during the Vietnam War, we know all about that. But this song cast the US military again in a positive light and this version became a major hit in January of 66. And, like I said right here, on the record it says January 26, 1966. It went to number one for five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Four weeks on Cashbox number one. It was also a crossover hit, went to number one on Billboard's Easy Listening chart and then number two on Billboard's Country Survey. So this was huge. But a lot of people may not even remember this song.

Speaker 1:

The artist began writing the song when he was training to be a special forces medic. The author, robin moore, who wrote the book of the song, helped him I know I'll tell you in a second helped him write the lyrics and then later signed he probably know what it is already a a signing recording contract with RCA Records. Like I said, demo of the song was produced on a rudimentary recording in a rudimentary recording studio in Fort Bragg, north Carolina, with the help of Jerry Gattel and William P Yarborough. The lyrics written in part in honor of the US Army Specialist 5 James Gabriel Jr, special Forces Operator and the first native Hawaiian to die in Vietnam. Gabriel was killed by a Viet Cong gunfire while on a training mission with the South Vietnamese Army April 8th of 62. One verse in the song mentions Gabriel by name, but it was not used in the recorded version.

He did this on the Ed Sullivan Show January 30th, four days after this record. You know someone wrote on this record 1966. He did it on the Hollywood Palace. I remember that show and the Jimmy Dean show. Without further ado, he was, he was. This is performed by staff sergeant, a military man, barry Sadler, and it is called the Ballad of the Green Berets. Here you go, here you go.

Fighting soldiers from the sky, fearless men who jump and dive, men who mean just what they say, the brave men of the Green Beret, silver wings upon their chest. These are men, america's best? One hundred men we'll test today.

As far I know, sergeant barry sadler, this one is called and I don't know the feel of this song, but it's called letter from vietnam. Oops, I actually hit the miss. I didn't cue that up correctly.
