Already 209. What 209. How are you? Happy Wednesday? I'm looking out my studio window into my neighbor's flowers over there, into the foothills of Northern California, where it's a beautiful day, just like yesterday a little mixture, a little sun, little clouds. How are you? Thank you for tuning in. Appreciate you very much.
Speaker 1:My name is Patrick Pat Walsh. I host the Pat Walsh Show, as heard on KFPK Radio, the iHeart app streaming live. All the podcasts in my show are available as well the Pat Walsh Show, but this is the extension of my show. This is my Pat's Peeps podcast, working on 210 tomorrow. I've been doing this every day and getting a lot of nice messages and positive feedback, so thank you for being a part of our Pat's Peeps community here. I should play this wonderful thing I've got for my brother. I might just play that today.
Speaker 1:My brother Tim, if you're listening to me right now, I'm going to do something, probably during this podcast. I have not done yet, but I'm going to do it because I want you to hear what my brother said to me yesterday. I was having an interview with him. You know I keep he's my youngest brother, timothy I keep teasing ahead and you're like, yeah, you're the boy that cries. Well, because I'm putting these businesses together and I want to represent them and I want to give you good deals on local businesses, which I've mentioned numerous times. I know so Tim is going to be the first one I'm going to share with you, but the fact is, what he surprised me with yesterday was awesome, so I don't want to forget that. I don't want to forget that.
Speaker 1:So several things here on Pat's Peeps 209. Several things on my mind today. One I new music, that is, I'm going to be featuring from local artists today and I have other local artists who are asking me hey, pat, you know, um, I know that you support local music and local art and local business. Can I send you some stuff I'm working on? Listen, if you're local, and when I say I'm talking about if you listen to my show or my podcast. I'll put it that way, because in radio, local might mean the region you're in and broadcasting from, but in a podcast world it's wherever you are. That's the community, that's the region. So I mean, I don't care if wherever you're listening Alabama, Texas, could be up in Oregon, canada. Wherever You're working on music, you want it played. Maybe it's not even just music, maybe you do some comedy, I don't know. Whatever it is, let me know. All right, if it's something that would be interesting with audio, I'd love to hear it, and if it passes the muster, I'd love to share it with our audience. So please keep that in mind.
Speaker 1:Okay, so you're going. Well, how do I get that to you again? That's a very good question, pat Walsh. Well, I'll tell you what I'm going to give you the safe route right now, and then I'll give you the, because I got to keep you know, I got to remember the exact. I think it's Pat Walsh or patatpatspeepscom. It's either patatpatspeepscom or it's patwalshatpatspeepscom. But if that doesn't work, if it gets rejected, like no such thing, I really need to check into that. I probably got a hundred people messaging me right now. I'll look into that today. I'm having a meeting about that as a matter of fact. But you can send it to Pat at sign, the very important to have at sign in the pat wall showcom.
Speaker 1:All right, if you want something, if you have something that you would like me to share musically or whatever it is any kind of great audio. Maybe you're explaining something really cool. Whatever it is, Maybe you just want I'll tell you what. Maybe it's a message. You just want to leave me a message. I'll play those too, and we're going to talk about Redbox today on Pat's Peeps 209.
Speaker 1:But let's start with the music. I got two local things. Well, no, I take that back. One's local and then the other is not local but it's new and I thought I would share that with you. So Aaron Lee, who was the bass player for YNT great guy, go to aaronleecom, bass player YNT Really a great guy. He and I have sort of become friends over the years he's been on my radio show numerous times he's got shows. Oh, whoa, he's going to come to Hillenbrand. When is this? Oh, this is shoot. This is Saturday 2 pm. Aaron Lee at Hillenbrand Farmhouse Brewery.
Speaker 1:First of all, I love Hillenbrand. Patrick who owns Hillenbrand. Patrick is a great dude. It's a beautiful property out there, a little mini lake, it's just, it's gorgeous and he's got a great brewery out there. And then Aaron Lee, who's terrific. I'll be out there. I need to go to that Valentine's Day. Aaron is going to be at the Eldorado Saloon and Grill, eldorado Hills, for Valentine's Day, 9 pm. You might want to check that out. I don't think you're going to be disappointed. I think you're going to love it. And then Saturday March 1st, aaron will be at the Adele's Family Pizza Awesome place, 7 pm, and that's in Fair Oaks. So Aaron has a new song. This is called Everything Will Be Alright.
Speaker 1:I'll never forget when Aaron came on my show initially and he mentioned he had done a cover of Jewel Eye Judy by Fleetwood Mac Excuse me. And I said what? And he goes what, what, what, what I go. Oh, I love that song. The fact is no one really knows that song. You've got to be really into Fleetwood Mac, to know Jewel Eye, judy, because it comes off their album Kiln House. There are no hits on Kiln House. There are no hits on kiln house. It's before stevie nicks and that you know the, the more popular version I I guess you would say it like that the more commercial version, I should say of fleawood mac. But it's the era that I love.
Speaker 1:I could play songs off of that kiln house album that you would never be, you wouldn't. You could fool your friends like who is this? And they would say I don't know who. That is no clue. That's fleetwood back. What? No, it isn't. Should I give you a couple examples? See, now, here I'm going to go off on a tangent, but it's like anytime I can give an example, why not? So okay, if you played this for your friends, and even if they were Fleetwood Mac fans I'm not talking about super diehard Peter Green, bob Welch, you know the deep stuff I'm talking about if they're just basically, you know the, the more commercial version of Fleetwood Mac fans and you play this particular song. This is called Blood on the Floor. Basically, you know the more commercial version of Fleetwood Mac fans and you play this particular song. This is called Blood on the Floor. Blood on the Floor from Kiln House. I'm way off topic now but I don't care. Real. Good my world. It's sad, but true.
Speaker 3:Got a date with a hangman. I have to leave you. I shut my door in three times or more the reason I'm gone. Yeah, blood on the floor.
Speaker 1:Not your soul now. Would you know that was fleawood mac. The days are so long. That's peeps 209.
Speaker 3:backup singers. Backup singers.
Speaker 1:Yep, that's Fleetwood Mac. I like going off on little tangents. This is July Judy from that same album. I love this beautiful song.
Speaker 3:This is the one that.
Speaker 1:Aaron covered. I'm sorry. Are you checking out that mix? Is the singing coming in in your right ear only? Like the right ear predominantly, and it builds. I don't know that most people would even know this is Fleetwood Mac. Such a cool tune, though I don't have the rights to this, Don't hound me about it. Come on Exposing the music, for goodness sake. Let's see if we can hear Aaron Lee's version of that. July Judy. Listen to what a great job he does on this. Let's see if we can hear Aaron Lee's version of that. July Judy, Listen to what a great job he does on this, AaronLeecom.
Speaker 3:You can buy his music there. Moonshine time thoughts of you Spinning round as thoughts do. I just wondered if your eyes still shine as they did when you were mine. I can see In a dream Thoughts, so clear, jewels, that gleam. Would your eyes still sparkle then If we were once again July today? Please come home.
Speaker 1:Wow, that's great man. Honestly, I don't know how that's not a hit song. That is just. That is one of my favorite covers right there Pat's Peeps 209. Please check out my friend, aaron Lee YNT. His band will be coming to our area this year as well, but go check out his solo stuff, man, he is so good.
Speaker 1:There's another song that is, like I said, is not local, national, though People know this band very well and I got this email from a publicist, jody, who wanted to make sure that I had received this band's version of this classic song. All proceeds from the track will be donated to the fire aid to assist in both short-term relief efforts, long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout southern california. I could say I hadn't listened to this yet, but out of curiosity I listened to probably the first, I don't know, 30 seconds, maybe 35 seconds, maybe something like that, 40 seconds. Whatever, it's a band I really like and I appreciate what they are doing to help the fire relief efforts to assist in these efforts. My only concern, honestly, I mean I get this why they chose this song, I guess, and from the 35 or 40 seconds or whatever I listened to it, it seemed good. I guess. I mean it seemed good, but maybe it changes the more it gets into it. It's three minutes and 10 seconds. My only concern with it is I mean I think the band could have done, because they haven't released anything that I'm aware of in a long time. It's a classic rock band and maybe perhaps they could have done something original.
Speaker 1:All right, so please don't get me wrong. I'm not ungrateful or anything. It's just my honest opinion. Maybe they could have done something that was original, versus covering this, because I don't honestly know how many people want to hear this. I hope that's okay to say it. I don't know how many people people want to hear this. I hope that's okay to say it. I don't know how many people actually want to hear this song done by this band rather than a new song by them. Okay, anyhow, you tell me I don't want them to become like a cover band, even if it is for a relief effort. I would personally be more likely to purchase and again, maybe I'm wrong, I haven't listened to the whole thing but if it's pretty standard, I would be more likely to purchase it. And please don't let me discourage you. I'm not trying to do that. Honestly, if it were an original song. Alright, enough of my prelude to this. Def Leppard, stand by Me.
Speaker 3:When the night has come and the land is dark and the moon is the only light we'll see. No, I won't be afraid. No, I won't be afraid. No, I won't be afraid, just as long as you stand, stand by me. So, darling darling, stand by me. Oh, stand by me. Oh, stand now, stand by me. Oh, stand now, stand by me, stand by me. If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall and the mountains should crumble to, the sea.
Speaker 1:So really, so far, a very standard version. I won't cry.
Speaker 3:I won't cry, no, I won't shed a tear, just as long as you stand stand by me. So, darling darling, stand by me. So, darling darling, stand by me, oh, stand by me, oh, stand now.
Speaker 1:So Def Leppard says that we are very excited to share our take on Stand by Me from Bank of Dave 2, which you can stream today. You just go to Def. I don't know what Bank of Dave 2 is, but okay. Defleppard Link.2 forward slash Stand by Me. Did you have time to jot that down? Forward slash, stand by me. Did you have time to jot that down? Deflepper, l N K Dot two T O. Forward slash stand by me.
Speaker 1:But again, I hope you understand my opinion on that. It's not that I don't like the song. I would have loved to hear them do something that was original, as I mentioned. That's all. That's all. That's all. So I mentioned that.
Speaker 1:My brother I was talking to my brother Timothy. I've never done this on my show, but on my podcast. It wasn't my show really, but I'm going to do it today because I'm so proud and excited about this. My brother Timothy he's my youngest brother. You know there's six kids, seven with our stepbrother, Ray. Rest in peace, raymond Miss you. But in peace, raymond Miss you. But there are six kids, four brothers, two sisters Myself I'm the oldest of the clan Then comes Jim, then Steve, then Tim this is age-wise and then my sisters, michelle and and Stephanie, and we're very close.
Speaker 1:We all do different things in life. Steve could paint your house and do it better than anyone out there could do it. That's why he was so in demand. He was so talented at that. I say, was it's just? He sold his business. He's not doing that anymore, but he had that business Steve's Custom Painting and there was no one better than what he does. He does other things very skillful. He's a very skillful drummer. My brother, jim, a financial planner, helped me build a portfolio Very smart. They were talking to him about being like the I don't know, I don't watch the Bachelor, whatever but he was mentioning oh, I better not say anything. He asked me not to mention that.
Speaker 2:And nothing.
Speaker 1:Never mind, you didn't hear that. You did not hear that they were calling him from the show the Bachelor. You did not hear that from me, please. My two sisters, michelle, who runs the Tubac Resort in Tubac, arizona Wow, you should see her beautiful resort it is. It's stunning what she does up there and she runs this place. My sister, stephanie, in Clovis what a beautiful mother to all these children Works with my brother.
Speaker 1:Timothy, does incredible things working with my brother. So we are all doing different things. Of course I do this. My brother Tim. That's where I want to get to. What I'm about to say to you means the world to me. If you are looking to do something like this, it would mean the world to me and to Tim, and to Stephanie, for that matter.
Speaker 1:So my brother Tim has always been. He's a guy that builds companies and you know I'm here to support local business. I always tell you that this. I always tell you that Tim has built several very successful lending companies, mortgage companies, and so, tim, I promise you I'm not going to turn this into any kind of a commercial. I promise You've never heard me do a commercial, but I just want I have to say this I'm so proud of him and he surprised me yesterday because we did a podcast regarding his business, which was going to be separate from these podcasts, but I took this little segment out to share it with you because he was telling me, like, this is the buying season, if you're looking to buy a home and all this, right, so, just real quickly, here's what my brother Tim has done. He's built this beautiful business.
Speaker 1:It's called AI Lending, it's powered by Coast to Coast, it's a national mortgage company and they specialize in a wide range of home loan solutions. Right, this is directly from my brother, tim, who I trust, and if you trust me, all I'm asking you to do is please think about this. Just think about this AI Lending. This is according to Tim. They assist first-time homebuyers, veterans, va loans, those looking for FHA refinance, reverse mortgage options, whatever you're looking for in that regard. And AI lending's goal is to provide personalized lending solutions with innovative technology and, they say, making the mortgage process smoother and more efficient for our clients, which now are Pat's Peeps clients. So I've always promised this to you that we are going to take care of local business. I couldn't be more proud to start with my brother Tim. Ai Lending. Tim Walsh.
Speaker 1:I'm not going to do the commercial, so I'm not even going to give you the phone number and everything right here. I am going to post separately another podcast that is meant just for that. Okay, so I can never get the two confused my regular podcast and something like that. But when he surprised me with this yesterday, I had to share it with you. When he surprised me with this yesterday, I had to share it with you.
Speaker 1:So another one of my businesses, as you probably know, is conservative tours. I'm going to the Italian Riviera with them April, spending springtime there. Then I'm going to go to Sicily with them this fall and I've been going. I just got back from Ireland a few months ago with conservative tours. I've been to Southern Italy with them. I've been to Northern. I just got back from Ireland a few months ago with conservative tours. I've been to Southern Italy with them. I've been to Northern Italy, germany, austria. I've been to France, d-day Normandy Beach, the D-Day beaches in Normandy and beyond.
Speaker 1:So as my brother and I are talking about the virtues of his business and how they can help you, he told me two things and I said I'm going to. I'm going to put this out there right away. So if you're going to go out to a lender and you're going to pay what a 700, $800 or whatever for a, an appraisal or whatever Two things my brother said Pat, I believe in your business and your listeners. They're going to give you your appraisal feedback and check out what else he's going to do.
Speaker 2:Hey, pat, one other thing that I wanted to mention to you that I because it's your show, pat's Pete's Group, and I wanted to make sure that I didn't talk to you about this in advance, so I can get your thoughts and your reaction on it. I understand that you're the host of Conservative Tours. Yes, and my understanding is your next trip is to Sicily, I believe. Is that correct?
Speaker 1:Actually, yeah, we just started talking about that. You were actually going to Sicily this fall. We're going to the Italian Riviera in April for spring, yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 2:That's awesome. It looks like I made you join me. I wanted to share this with you. So generally, I think it's in October, if I'm correct, or September, october, something like that. So the next four or five months generally start in March, april, may, june, july through August, typically the buying season for customers wanting to buy a home so they can get in before the following the next school year. What AI Lending wants to do, what we'd like to do, if you're okay with this, we'd like to have a drawing Once we fund our 100th loan. We'd like to have a drawing and put all the names in one through 100, and we'd like to draw out a name and sponsor and pay for a trip for one of the customers, one of our mutual customers, pat Peete, and a significant other. So we'd like to pay for two folks to go on the trip. How's that sound?
Speaker 1:That is incredible. And you said you might be going. What do you mean? You might be going?
Speaker 2:I've heard so many wonderful things and I get to see all the pictures that you send us, so surely we decide that we're gonna go uh with on the trip and, oh my god, we'd like to, we'd like to pay for uh somebody to join us this is.
Speaker 1:This is an amazing surprise, tim. I cannot, I can't believe it. I that is so generous and kind of you, I mean, you know, if you're listening to this, well, who else, if you're going to go to somewhere else to sign with someone, I mean, who else is going to tell you that they'll send you on one of these wonderful Pats Peeps trips with conservative tours to, you know, italy or Ireland or France or Germany or Austria, wherever we're going, tim that is, I can't even thank you enough and the opportunity and again, I mean one in a hundred. If you're pulling a name out of the hat, one in a hundred. Your odds are pretty good too, and no one else has given you that incentive and you're my brother and I trust you and to travel with you and Charlene, your beautiful wife I mean, this was my great sister-in-law. It doesn't get. I have the best sister-in-laws. This just made my day and thank you, tim.
Speaker 2:Well, you're welcome. I was excited to let you know that and we're excited to partner with Pat's, pete's and, of course, my brother, hugh, and we're excited, we're looking forward to and not to mention, as we discussed earlier, I think, in the show that at funding for Pat's Peaks we're going to refund the appraisal fee at funding, and so not just the trip but we're going to refund the appraisal fee as well. We appreciate, of course, you and we're looking forward to a very fun and productive uh relationship with that speech.
Speaker 2:Oh, this is beautiful thank you for uh having me on. Thanks for uh your time and everybody's time today love your brother.
Speaker 1:Thank you, ai lending. Can you believe that? I couldn't believe it, so that made me very excited. Thanks for allowing me to play that. You know I don't usually do that. I don't ever do that on my this podcast. I'm going to put the entire podcast with my brother and his team on our webpage. You will see the logo with his photo, and so all I'm asking you is that, if you are, you know, if you're looking, if you're going to buy a home during this period of time and you're looking for that lender, I would be beyond grateful if you would talk to AI Lending and my brother, tim, and I'll give you all the information in that podcast, which will be up by Friday, okay, but you can still look them up.
Speaker 1:Ai Lending, tim Walsh he's a good guy. I don't know. We're very compassionate about people. Honest to God. I don't know where that comes from, but I guess that's what you're supposed to be. So, anyhow, going on one of these trips with us, we pull your name out of the hat and then you get your appraisal feedback. So thank you, tim, for doing that.
Speaker 1:Let's see. Let's wrap it up with this. You know, I pulled this record out yesterday from my rare record collection. It's in a picture sleeve and I don't know this artist, so you and I are going to listen to this together. Maybe you are well aware of this artist and I'm just the one that doesn't know. It's on Sire Records. More about that, but first it reminded me of when I saw the name of the artist. It reminded me of something else that we've had in our culture, which I guess we still do Redbox. Anyone know the band, the artist, redbox First thing I thought of, of course, you know, there was Blockbuster Video, and then came Redbox, the video rental and now streaming media company.
Speaker 1:Based out of Oak Brook Terrace, illinois. They specialized we all probably remember in automated DVD rental kiosks. You go up to the store, be in the store, bam, you got the red box. You go through, you search the movies and then the thing would drop out of the box. They operated transactional and ad-supported streaming video and television services.
Speaker 1:From 2022 until its liquidation, redbox was a wholly owned subsidiary of Chicken Soup for the Soul, entertainment for the soul entertainment. So these Redbox kiosks they rented and sold films on DVD and Blu-ray. They were, like I say, located in the retail stores. They included convenience stores, supermarkets is where I always saw them pharmacies. And at their peak in the early 2010s, the company operated kiosks in more than 34,000 locations, controlled more than half of the US DVD rental market. But of course, here comes technology. No one even wants to go to the store to get their video, they can just get it right there from the TV. So in June of last year, chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and then in July their case was converted to Chapter 7 liquidation. As part of the ongoing liquidation proceedings, redbox's online streaming services and mobile app ceased to function in July of last year. So that's what it reminded me of.
Speaker 1:Redbox is also a band, a British pop group founded by Simon Tolson Clark and Julian Close. This band was active from the early 80s to the present day and scored a couple of UK top 10 hits with the singles Lean On Me, lean On Me. What is that the same? What is that? The classic in 85, speaking of recovering classics and then 85 for America, 1986, both of which were included on their debut album, the Circle in the Square. Redbox returned briefly in 1990 with a single Train and the second album, motive, and again in 2010 with a third album, plenty, released in October of 2010.
Speaker 1:Well, this one. When did this come out? This one came out, let's see here. Let me look at the album. Let me look at the actual record. It's on Sire Records Boy. It's in mint condition, just a little dusty 1987, this came out on sire uh, this is from trying to figure out what record this came from. Anyhow, yellow record, yellow label, that's. That's sire. It's got their classic logo on that and this is the same song on both sides. And it is both the stereo. It's in stereo, it's not mono. So let's just play this thing. I don't know anything about it. Maybe, if I listen to it, I'll go yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember this, maybe you will. So this is called I'm not even going to get this right Chenko, chenko, c-h-e-n-k-o Chenko, and, in parentheses, tenkaio Remix Says aside too would have been a song called Speeches, but that's not the case here because it's a very rare record dj promo. So this is same song both sides. All right, let's listen.
Speaker 1:I don't know this song let's go very epic, I'm remembering very vividly why I wasn't a big fan of a lot of 80s music right now, and fire forever.
Speaker 3:And now we all.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right. Very 80s right there, that's not bad. One-sided Very 80s right there, that's not bad, it's not great. What do you think? Can someone tell me what that means, please? That is 80s to the max. Gnarly, that is rad. Thank you for listening, my friends. I appreciate you so much. Pat's Peeps 209. We'll see you on the radio. We'll see you on the radio.
