Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Pats Peeps Podcast. Pats Peeps Podcast, number 229. That's right. How are you? Happy Tuesday? Today's the 18th day of March 2025.

Speaker 1:

Looking out the studio window into the foothills, the beautiful foothills of Northern California, what on earth is that? We have some sunshine, man, it feels good to have some sunshine. It's not all that warm, but the fact is that it's sunny out there after several days of rain and then snow up in the mountains, which is fantastic. We welcome that, we need it and, wherever you're listening, thank you so much, appreciate you always being a part of our podcast and we appreciate it so much that, heck, we got a bunch of businesses. Do you know that? I just want to mention this? Ten businesses I called today that want to be part of Pat's Peeps that are already a part. Now we got them up today. Ten more businesses. You know, again, I'll just keep mentioning this in hopes that you'll actually take us up on this. You know, again, I'll just keep mentioning this in hopes that you'll actually take us up on this. You know, when you listen to the podcast, if you'll just go to patspeepscom and we have like free olive oil tastings for like six Tenero olive oil, I was looking through some of the stuff.

Speaker 1:

My gosh, we have some really cool stuff up there, you know, and it'd be such a blessing if you go. Okay, all right, I'll do that Now. We don't have everything, but heck 10 more today. Pretty soon we'll have hamburgers and donuts and all that stuff. I'm not saying we're going the junk food route, necessarily, but we're just looking for good mom and pop businesses that are just going to do good stuff for you. Okay, that's it. And're just going to do good stuff for you. Okay, that's it. And then you get to save some money and we get to support them and everyone's really excited about it too.

Speaker 1:

I think we have the new. I need to look at this. Actually, we were just working on this yesterday, my brother Tim's let me see if I'd be so excited if it's up here. I forgot to check before we came on. So my brother, tim AI Lending, is our featured peep right now this month and he's got this thing, this offer I'm just going to click on this that they're going to give you the cost of your appraisal for your home, fully reimbursed at closing, of your appraisal for your home, fully reimbursed at closing, and the first 100 people are going to be entered into a drawing for a trip for two to Europe with conservative tours. This is the tour company I go. Oh, there's my picture, my brother listen to the Pat. Listen to Pat's peeps podcast excerpt, where Pat talks with his brother Tim about the free my friends free trip to Europe drawing.

Speaker 1:

So what does it mean? It means, like if, here's what it means. If you're going to buy a home and you go to my brother Tim at AI Lending it's just ailendingcom If you go there, then, unlike any of these other places, you're going to get your appraisal feedback and we're going to put the first 100 people that go through Tim, through Pat's Peeps, and we're going to put them in a hat. We're going to pick someone and two people. A couple will give a pair of tickets to Europe somewhere. I mean, isn't that great with conservative tours? Somewhere. I mean, isn't that great with conservative tours? I know I played this before, but I haven't had a chance to play this right from my website. Look at my brother all dressed up in his blue suit. I got a good brother. Tim's a good man. You know my son that just passed away. I named him after my, my, my brother, tim, because he's just a good guy. I going to punch this button up and see if it plays. Look at that.

Speaker 2:

One other thing that I wanted to mention to you today because it's your show, pat's Pete's Group, and I wanted to make sure that I didn't talk to you about this in advance so I can get your thoughts and your reaction on it. I understand that you're the host of Conservative Tours, yes, and my understanding is your next trip is to Sicily, I believe. Is that correct, actually?

Speaker 1:

yeah, actually. Yeah, it's today's the 18th and, heck, we're going on April 3rd to the Italian Riviera. Anyhow, back to the conversation. I won't play all this, but you can check it out at patspeepscom. Just a little bit more.

Speaker 2:

The.

Speaker 1:

Italian Riviera in April, for spring.

Speaker 2:

That's awesome. It looks like I made it. I wanted to share this with you. So, generally the um I think that's been October, if I'm correct, or September, october or something like that. Um, so the next four or five months generally started in March, april, may, june, july through August, typically the buying season for customers wanting to buy a home so they can get in before following the next school year. What AI Lending wants to do, what we'd like to do, if you're okay with this, we'd like to have a drawing Once we fund our 100th loan. We'd like to have a drawing and put all the names in one through a hundred and we'd like to draw out a name and sponsor and pay for a trip for one of the customers, one of our mutual customers, pat Peek, and a significant other. So we'd like to pay for two folks to go on the trip. How's that sound?

Speaker 1:

That is incredible, and you said you might not to interrupt myself there, but you can hear all of that, I think. Right here he talks about giving your appraisal feedback somewhere in Charlene, your beautiful wife. Let me see, this just made my day.

Speaker 2:

Let you know that and we're excited. Our door that's Pete, and of course Pat's Peeps and of course my brother Hugh, and we're excited, we're looking forward to and not to mention, as we discussed earlier, I think, in the show that at funding for Pat's Peeps we're going to refund the appraisal fee at funding, and so not just the trip but we're going to refund the appraisal fee as well. We appreciate, of course, you and we're looking forward to a very fun and productive relationship.

Speaker 1:

So I just I just wanted to play that because I can't believe it. I'm. You know, as I build this business, it's so exciting to see some things going together. You know, I do this every day. I don't take a penny for any of this. You know I do this every day. I don't take a penny for any of this. But heck, if I could encourage you to go to these businesses. That's really all I ask for. I don't even charge for you to get these. You know, these great deals. As I always say, just say Pat's Peeps. You know you go in there and you say Pat's Peeps, whether it's Rick over at Lighthouse Technologies I hope I said that right you know working on your technology or any of these businesses AI lending that's my brother's business there. Anyhow, it means a great deal to us. I'll get off of that, but I just I'm really excited that I had 10 more people to call today. They're like yeah, you know, pat, I think I like this too. Oh my God, it's so incredible. Speaking of incredible, I was just watching this amazing technology the Starliner astronauts finally returning to Earth with a SpaceX Crew-9.

Speaker 1:

They are the ones returning to Earth finally Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, nasa astronauts who, in June, flew to orbit aboard Boeing Starliner spacecraft are almost home, as the astronauts expected to return from their third trip to the International Space Station for a water landing off the Florida coast tonight. And they're not alone Also on board SpaceX Dragon capsule that departed at 1 am from the orbital laboratory. They're the two spacefarers who originally rode the spacecraft to outer space back in September. Can you imagine, back in September? Here we are, in March. The astronauts Nick Haig of NASA and a Russian astronaut, alexander Gorbunov of Roskomus, are part of this mission known as Crew-9.

Speaker 1:

Nasa launched the Crew-9 mission I mean, it's just hard to believe in September Two astronauts instead of four because they wanted to free up two seats for Wilmer and Williams upon that mission's conclusion. And that decision came after the US Space Agency opted to send the troubled Starliner back to Earth without its crew. Man, this is amazing. This is just amazing. It's the story here. Oh, david Bowie just popped up. Yeah, I'll play a little bit of that. That threw me off. That was a very good. That was excellent timing by David Bowie just to pop up. That kind of blew me away a little bit. Two astronauts instead of four, extending their stay in space for several months longer than anticipated.

Speaker 3:

I can't imagine stay in space for several months longer than anticipated.

Speaker 1:

I can't imagine You're expected to be in space for so long and then you extend out months longer than you would ever have possibly imagined. Tell me, tom.

Speaker 4:

Ground control to Major Tom.

Speaker 1:

The astronauts are approaching the end of about a 17-hour voyage back to Earth for a targeted water landing 5.57 pm Eastern time on the Florida coast. That according to NASA.

Speaker 3:

According to NASA. God be with you.

Speaker 5:

Reboot and remove the crew from the spacecraft. After medical check-out, the crew will return to land within four hours by helicopter and, if no additional medical assistance is needed, the crew will board a waiting NASA plane and depart for Houston, since it's needed the crew will board a waiting NASA plane and depart for Houston.

Speaker 1:

There is a live NASA SpaceX Crew-9 watch going on as the astronauts are returning to Earth. It really is amazing to watch these capsules as they're these rockets. You know they're these rockets, you know they launch these rockets.

Speaker 5:

And now, with this new technology, to see the I guess the engine or the see I I I don't speak the lingo- and as we continue to await uh dragon to be hoisted up onto the ship, we have a very special treat NASA Public Affairs Officer Jaden Jenning, who is actually on the recovery vessel and had a bird's eye view of the splashdown today. Jaden, how are you? How was the view from the recovery vessel?

Speaker 1:

But to see part of that space vehicle re-land on the pad is astonishing.

Speaker 6:

Hi, sandra, how do?

Speaker 5:

you hear me. I've got you loud and clear. Jaden, it's so great to hear you this is NASA.

Speaker 6:

Awesome, so splashdown, Sandra was nothing short of spectacular Freedom be advised.

Speaker 5:

We are transitioning the forward link. Comm will be unavailable for approximately five minutes.

Speaker 2:

Freedom comes approximately five minutes Freedom to approach.

Speaker 5:

Thanks so much, jaden. We did just have some communications letting us know that we'll have about a five-minute period where we won't be able to hear from the crew, so please go ahead, tell us how was the view from the recovery vessel.

Speaker 1:

So it looks like they've landed now. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

I was mentioning earlier, splashdown was nothing short of spectacular.

Speaker 6:

And we were stationed about one and a half nautical miles away from the splashdown zone and had great visuals. Here on the recovery vessel Megan, we actually saw a little of the smoke trail as the spacecraft was coming in, and then moments later we spotted those drogue chutes, and this was quickly followed by four healthy white and orange Maine parachutes. We then tracked Dragon all the way down as it slowly propelled into the ocean, and I think I speak for all of us on the ship when I say a new core memory was made today and we are looking forward to having Prunon on board with us a little later.

Speaker 7:

Jaden. That is amazing. Now, obviously, we are watching it here on camera and the landing conditions look pretty good, but how was it from your perspective? What is the sea state out there?

Speaker 6:

and 63 degrees outside r skies, light winds and ca. Absolutely beautiful righ blue with the sun reflect. I think the crew is going feel weather wise on this day, for splashdown off th.

Speaker 6:

Thanks so much, jade, and I like a beautiful day Can about the journey of the recovery forces to get to this point?

Speaker 6:

Sure, so. One unique aspect of this recovery was the onboard training on station conducted for Butch and Sunny to ensure they were ready to return on a Dragon spacecraft. That training covered all aspects of their return, including nominal and contingency departures, the orbit burn, splashdown and post-landing ops, which is what this team is preparing for now. As for the recovery teams themselves, we started the day taking a series of helicopters out to the vessel and, as standard, the recovery director and crew support teams were on that first helicopter out and took the time to get everything prepared on the ship. About two hours before splashdown they deployed those fastboats and jet skis into the water. I was actually on the second helicopter out and we were on the vessel about an hour and a half before splashdown and landed on top of the helicopter pad on the Megan, and the teams have been working diligently across their respective disciplines this week, executing what can only be described, in my point of view, as a logistical masterpiece, just ensuring every detail has been in place for crew dimes return.

Speaker 7:

That is such great news. I'm so glad that you're able there to experience it in person. Now can you tell us a little bit about what's next? To retrieve the crew for the recovery personnel on board?

Speaker 6:

yeah, okay, so coming up you're listening to the nasa feed here translation system, as these uh astronauts have finally returned to earth egress platform splash down like the old days as final precautionary measures, just to make sure there are no hypergolic pats peeps 229 and then, once that side hatch of the spacecraft is open, the crew will be assisted out of the capsule one by one from NASA and SpaceX Freedom SpaceX comm check. Freedom got you loud and clear.

Speaker 5:

Thanks, Nick. I got you loud and clear as well. We have completed our forward link transition and, Jaden, if you did just want to go ahead and let us know what is next to retrieve the crew. We are continuing to get some great views on our screen, but I know you have an even better view yourself.

Speaker 6:

Oh yeah, sandra, this view is absolutely unbeatable. So just to kind of finish off, what I was saying is, once that side hatch of this spacecraft is open, that crew will be assisted out of the capsule one by one from NASA and SpaceX medical personnel, where they will then head to the med bay and after those medical checks they will get on that first helicopter out and arrive at the airport, where they will then board a NASA plane and then head back to Houston, texas, at the Johnson Space Center, to begin their post-flight period. And we're eager to see the Crew-9 astronauts back on Earth and we'll keep you updated on every moment of this process. With that I'll toss it back over to you guys at Hawthorne.

Speaker 5:

Thank you so much. That was Jaden Jenning, NASA Public Affairs Officer.

Speaker 3:

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time Till touchdown brings me round again to find affairs officer.

Speaker 1:

Thank you for listening to Pat's Peeps. 229. That is amazing stuff. I recall as a youngin' in school anytime there was going to be a liftoff of one of these rockets Saturn rockets or what have you Apollo, you'd go to the library or maybe they would bring a television in a class, they'd wheel that TV in there and you'd watch Walter Cronkite or whoever it was, and they would be ready for the liftoff. You get to that 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, you know 4. That countdown 3, 2, 1. It was astonishing to see that. It was always a big thing. And then you'd wait. You'd think about them circling the earth or going to the moon or whatever it is they might be doing on that mission, and it was fascinating. And then you'd wait a while and then they would come back to earth and then they would splash down and you'd watch that as well. And if you've ever seen one of these space capsules, how tiny they are. Truly, it seems astonishing to me that these three or four two, three, four astronauts would be stuffed into this little capsule. Think about how brave you must be to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. You're in this little capsule and you're falling into the middle of the ocean. And this is after, of course, your extraordinary flight and your journey into outer space, which only a certain people, a certain few, are brave enough to actually accomplish that feat. I am not one of those people. Not a chance. That takes real courage to do something like that. So, anyhow, I think it is fascinating and the technology we see today. Like I said, these rockets are going up in the air, they separate and they have a component coming back down, landing on a pad, perfectly, on a launch pad. It's just stunning. Launchpad. It's just stunning and it's amazing. I mean, if you ever get an opportunity to, if you know that's going to be going on, check that out, because it's amazing. How many people still have not seen that. By the way, my name is Pat Walsh. I'm also the host of the Pat Walsh Show on KFBK Radio in Sacramento, 93.1 FM, 1530 am, and streaming live everywhere on your free iHeart app and, I think, on tonight's show, because I know I've already discussed it here on my show.

Speaker 1:

But I think I'm going to take a different angle on this whole snow woke thing, which is just. I mean I'm not going to see the movie. I don't know why. It's driving me crazy. I just don't like the trend that I'm seeing, especially with Disney and in Hollywood with some of this. You know just this.

Speaker 1:

And here's the other thing. I say woke and people now they say, well, what does that mean? What does woke mean? And I really don't want to get into all of that. I've had to explain that several times, at least my take on what that means. But I think generally most people know what that means, so I don't want to have to explain that every time I use it. But this is snow woke. Some people are calling it and um, but you have the. I don't think it's going to do well, for a variety of reasons. What are the reasons? The wokeness, the other thing. I mean come on, part of that wokeness not to use dwarfs. I've already talked about that, so I don't want to get back into that.

Speaker 1:

But there was another angle on this and this comes from. Let's see, this is from the director. This is the film's director, mark Webb. I think I'll bring this up on my show tonight and see what you guys think. Mark Webb saying in Disney's official production notes, quote I think all good stories evolve over time.

Speaker 1:

They become reflections of the world that we live in. Now people are saying, yeah, well, you got a little bit more than you bargained for, right? As reactions to Snow White inadvertently reflect the most polarized aspects of the world today, like political rhetoric, blah, blah, blah, on and on and on, and it's really. People are getting loud and irate and it's getting ugly. I mean, if I'm talking about Snow White, I mean please, if they would have just re-released the movie Snow White, quite frankly, the animated 1937 movie, I would have gone to the theaters to see it, because you cannot get better than that Snow White. I don't think you can. In terms of making Snow White, I mean, how are you going to get better than that Snow White? I don't think you can. In terms of making Snow White, I mean, how are you going to get better than that? Certainly it isn't this. But my point is because I don't want to belabor the point, because I already talked about this four podcasts ago, but I just wanted to isolate this particular point is what the director said.

Speaker 1:

Mark Webb, again quote I think all good stories evolve over time and become reflections of the story of the world that we live in. No, I disagree with that. What do you think? If you can listen to my show tonight, the Pat Wall Show, 93.1 FM, 1530 AM and on the free iHeart app, I'd love to hear what you think. We're getting calls from everywhere now Canada, georgia, arizona, washington, oregon, alabama, everywhere, texas. Georgia, arizona, washington, oregon, alabama, everywhere, texas.

Speaker 1:

I don't agree that all good stories evolve. Over time. They become reflections of the world that we live in. How egotistical and narcissistic can we be? It's not up to us. So what are you saying? We should take Shakespeare and just do it your way? No, we've already seen that with the quote woke Hamilton and come on. No one wants to even say that, come on. I could go down a whole litany of these things. But and if you're saying, well, hamilton's really great, well, okay, but I'm just trying to make a point here. So I don't think that the stories need to evolve to reflect our current times.

Speaker 1:

A story was written as a story. It is what it is and that sounds very simplistic, but it's a story. Hansel and Gretel is a story. The three bears don't make it woke. It's a story. It Three Bears don't make it woke. It's a story. It's not up to you. Puff the Magic Dragon. It's a story within a song. You're going to change that somehow to fit today's society. It's ridiculous. You just don't do that. That was their time.

Speaker 1:

If you don't want to like, if you think that the 1937 movie is so horrible because it was a stalker which you're out of your mind and she ended just the whole thing, if you don't like that, find something else to do. Get original, come up with another idea. Don't keep going back to a story and try to ruin it and make it woke. There are a lot of great stories out there. You know why they're great? Because of the story, the way it was originally written. Leave it alone. It's not up to you. You're not the generation that will fix the woes of the past, the mistakes of the past. We'll show them because we're so much more advanced now.

Speaker 1:

Come on, hooey, let's get to some music. I feel like getting to some music here. I was going to play this, but I think maybe I'll wait on that and play that tomorrow because it doesn't really fit in. So let's go to my record Instead, my rare record here. It is right here in my hand the sleeve says 6164. Your standard green dusty radio station cover that most of these. These records come in, I pull the record out. Uh, this record is in. Oh, it's only, it's an okay condition. It's not mint like most. You know, most of the records that I put on here just pristine. This one, it's okay, it's pretty good. It's not great. This one seems like it's gotten a lot of play. And uh, it is. It is a dj copy because it's not for sale. It's rca, it's yellow, it's a bright yellow label, stereo plug side and this side, the, uh, the b side. Um, yeah, it's in good condition, all right. So yeah, let's play this one today.

Speaker 1:

This was a popular song. This was a popular the Canadian rock band. The guitarist and the lead singer did other things too in their careers away from this band. There are a couple of versions of this song. The original was done for this artist, this band's album Canned Wheat, but it's the re-recording of the song that was released as a single in 1969. That's the better known version. It's a little bit faster in tempo and has the two verses transposed, but the extended guitar solos and this guy's a great guitarist, well-known very different sounding guitar tone, excuse me, the solo was cut. But this song, this version, this went to number five in the US. It was the third in a string of million-selling singles that all hit number one in Canada for this band. It also made the top 20 in New Zealand.

Speaker 1:

This song is a breakup song. Reverse Dear John letter stating well, you'll find out, I'll give it away. Of this song, the lead guitarist said hey, that was our country rock song, me and the lead singer there trying to be like Neil Young and Stephen Stills Song was composed on a Saturday at the singer's mother's house where this guitarist came up with a guitar line and the song was built from that. So, without further ado, canadian band, this great Canadian band who of course later formed the. You know like BTO and such. This would be the guess who we're talking about Randy Bachman, the great guitarist being the B of BTO, bachman, turner Overdrive and the lead singer Burton Cummings. This is no Time, a classic by the Guess who on Pat's Peeps 229. So we'll put this on the turntable. Let's go. No time left for you.

Speaker 4:

On my way to better things, I found myself some ways. No time left for you. Distant roads are calling me. No time left for you, dad and dad, and dad and dad and dad. No time for a summer friend, no time for the love you send. Seasons change, and so did I. You need not wonder why. You need not wonder why there's no time left for you. No time left for you. No time left for you. No time left for you.

Speaker 1:

Such a unique guitar tone, Randy Bachman no time left for you.

Speaker 4:

On my way to bitter things, I'll find myself some wings. Distant roads are calling me Day to day, day to day. No time for a gentle rain, no time for my watch and chain, no time for revolving doors, no time for the killing floor. No time for the killing floor. There's no time left for you. No time left for you.

Speaker 1:

Produced by Nimbus9 and producer Jack Richardson. There's that Randy Bachman guitar. I don't own the rights to this. I always have to say that I'm just educating, exposing blah, blah, blah. All right, we've heard this a million times, let's flip it over. What's on the other side of that? What would be on the other side of that? That's a good question. This side is let's see, this is hold on Four minutes long. We won't play the whole thing Four minutes long. We won't play the whole thing Four minutes long. This is a song called Proper Stranger. Proper Stranger, the Guess who. B-side of no Time. Here we go. That's Peaks 229. Happy Tuesday, my friends. I kind of like that Dark day.

Speaker 4:

Windy city. Dark day, windy city, raincoats on my shoulder. So take my hand and show me where to go.

Speaker 1:

Wow, they have that definitely distinctive harmonies. I would know those harmonies anywhere. I've never heard this song.

Speaker 4:

Traffic lights Dusty sidewalks. Traffic lights Dusty sidewalks.

Speaker 1:

Freeway, people On the move, so take my hand and show me where to go, don't you know? Thank you for listening to my Pats Peeps podcast 229, my friends 229. Please check out PatsPeepscom, please, please, and we'll see you on the radio.
