Pat's Peeps 237,. We're continuing out. We're in the bloody segment of the program right now, as I just Listen. We're sitting on a terrace. Where are we?
Speaker 1:We are looking over Santa Margarita, santa Margarita Liguri, santa. Margarita Liguri right Liguri, liguri, liguri.
Speaker 2:Okay, and so thank you, Ryan. Hey it's Pat and today we have a crew out here on the balcony on this hotel. What is the hotel? I don't even know, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4:Hotel Lorraine.
Speaker 1:California Hotel Lorraine. Hotel Lorraine.
Speaker 2:Shelly is here, and then Ryan is here, and Jana is here, and Steve is here, and Danny Boy is here and I'm here too. We're overlooking this harbor. What is this? This is a beautiful little area out here and I just I got so excited. A minute ago we were talking, we were having a good time, we're drinking wine as you can imagine in Italy and I got so excited when Jana we're talking about. Let me first let me tell you about Jana. Okay, jana knows music. Jana's one of my favorite people on Facebook to talk music with. I'll talk music. What are you waving me off for? Are you being humble? She's waving me off in a humble fashion. She's like no, I'm on an FBI list. Oh, sorry, dang it Alright. Um, dana is what I meant, right?
Speaker 1:right Dana.
Speaker 2:Oh sorry, Dan. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to expose you to that. Are they looking for you?
Speaker 4:I hope they're not looking for me in Italy. Okay good, I escaped the US, that's right. Oh good, so Jana's a fugitive on the run.
Speaker 2:And we were talking about music and I don't even know. Oh, so then Steve goes hey, who did the album? You can tune the piano but you can't tune the fish. And of course he thought who did you think it was? You thought it was, I thought it was Joe Walsh, you thought it was Joe Walsh, and I said, no, it's REO Speedwagon. And then Jana, of course, and then we start talking about Joe W. When I high-fivered, I had a full glass of wine which I then busted and it went everywhere.
Speaker 4:It shattered all over the patio, but everyone's okay, everyone's alright, except for Pat.
Speaker 5:I bled all over Ryan's bathroom.
Speaker 1:Dr Shelley took care of it. That's okay, Pat.
Speaker 4:Nurse Shelley nursed him back to health and put a band-aid on.
Speaker 1:Yes, thank you, Nurse Shelly.
Speaker 3:You're going to be just fine. You'll be fine. Go back in the game.
Speaker 2:I was embarrassed because, look, I'm being honest with you. What have I had? Three, four, how many bottles of wine have we had today? This was our third. Okay, our third bottle, I mean between you and me and Ryan.
Speaker 4:No, that's true, Not the first bottle but, the second bottle, that's right.
Speaker 2:First bottle was you and me. Accidents happen though, right, so anyhow.
Speaker 3:On the music. Huh, on the music.
Speaker 2:Well, yes, but Jana knows music, and so I just got really thrilled about that Got excited. Yes, right, right. So we went on a boat. We went to Cinque Terre, right, cinque Terre, cinque.
Speaker 1:Terre, cinque Terre. The miracle is that Pat got on a boat. I did, and sailed.
Speaker 2:And did well. Yeah Well, they convinced me to do that. I'm very leery about getting on a boat because I get seasickness so easily motion sickness but they convinced me. You know, what I love is when I get on the coach. We ride in this coach for conservative tours. This is a Pats Peeps group and two out of the first ten people handed me drugs on the bus today which was really great. Here's your Dramamine.
Speaker 1:Take the Dramamine Take it care of you yeah and so it seemed to work.
Speaker 2:And you know, we went to this place called Vernazza, and it is when I say it's like the most spectacular view you could ever have to sit and dine anywhere. This had to be the place, man, Wasn't this beautiful today? Where we stopped, it was you were talking on the way over there, Dan like Well, we were on the boat and I was looking up these people eating and then that that second one that comes out there's only like four tables right, it looks like part of the castle.
Speaker 2:It's like oh my god, I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 4:I would love to eat up there and then we get back over there and marco's like pat, pat, pat come and he escorts us up to that restaurant. I I'm like are you kidding me? Yeah. And he put us right on a table, right on the edge.
Speaker 3:Is that where you guys had lunch On the top? It was not on the bottom of the top there was tons of tables.
Speaker 2:What did we have for lunch? Yeah, we had the lobster or something.
Speaker 1:Well, I had some octopus which made pat want to hurl, and then pat and I they have this this lobster dish, like the angustine lobster with a pasta with tomato sauce, um that you have to have a minimum of two people order it, so pat and I ordered that. It was fantastic yes, it was.
Speaker 2:No, it really was. It really was. Yeah, it was a beautiful place it was. I mean again, I think that was the most beautiful view I've ever been in terms of eating.
Speaker 3:Yeah, no pirates, yeah, no pirates.
Speaker 4:But, we had defensive space. There's a pirate's eye, we're literally in a tower that was built for defense from pirates they had bunkers out there, yeah, bunkers on the shoreline.
Speaker 2:Wow, that's something you just don't see that often, huh.
Speaker 3:Really.
Speaker 2:You don't see bunkers around. I don't see too many around Sacramento area.
Speaker 1:Do they have them in?
Speaker 2:Roseville Shelly Shut up. Keep Rockland out, keep Loomis at bay. I need to make signs. Keep Rockland out, keep Rockland out, keep Rockland out.
Speaker 3:We're heading north, so don't worry Roseville's going up.
Speaker 1:Really, you know what you want to watch out for is those pirates coming from Newcastle? Those are the problem, kids.
Speaker 3:Because they have the castles.
Speaker 1:What's that?
Speaker 3:The pirates coming from Newcastle, from Newcastle.
Speaker 1:That's right, you know they were up in.
Speaker 2:Newcastle.
Speaker 1:They're a rough bunch in Newcastle.
Speaker 2:Right, right. No, we are podcasting.
Speaker 3:You don't have to whisper.
Speaker 2:You can actually speak on a podcast.
Speaker 3:Have you been to the World War II in San Francisco, across the bay where they actually had the World War II bunkers? Yeah, on the Marin County side, On the Marin County side that was always one of my favorite first date places.
Speaker 1:The bunkers. What kind of message?
Speaker 2:No, no no, steve, were you sitting there? No, that's a great first date to go to the bunkers Bring a picnic and wine and a view.
Speaker 5:I know exactly where they're talking about and the bunkers are just so you go across the Golden Gate Bridge where we went after the game past, where we stopped at the Vista Point.
Speaker 1:the second exit is Alexander Avenue you go under the freeway and up the hill and there's one of the old. Civil War forts, and you walk all the way up to the top there and you have the most beautiful view of the city you could possibly imagine that was my first date spot.
Speaker 4:Mine too Did you guys date Not many.
Speaker 2:Now keep in mind folks, keep in mind we're doing a podcast. We literally have five different conversations going here, so let's try to channel this a little bit. Or they're just going to be like we're just sitting around listening to five different conversations. So this is where they tried to hold off during World War II. They thought they were going to be attacked by the Japanese right, is that?
Speaker 3:right.
Speaker 2:Correct or anyone Like who else? The other people, people from Turkey, let's go get them.
Speaker 5:No, it was the Japanese. It was the Japanese. But.
Speaker 1:I'm telling you a lot of those same spots were there from the Civil War Really, because they needed five different locations. Okay, we're getting too much forest Because cannonballs could only shoot so far, so they had Fort Point and the Marin Headlands and Alcatraz and a couple of different points in case the Confederate Army came through the Golden Gate or the Confederate Navy.
Speaker 5:Now, that's a fun fact for Ryan. Now see, the Confederate Army came through the Golden Gate, or the Confederate Navy, that's actually true. Now, that's a fun fact for Ryan.
Speaker 4:We all learned something because Ryan's here. Ryan knows history Right.
Speaker 3:That was because I was a history major, but obviously I didn't know that.
Speaker 2:I know 1975.
Speaker 3:How about.
Speaker 2:You know the history of 1975? No, I don't. Is that what you said? I'd love to hear that. No, I don't. Is that what she said? I'd love to hear that. Alright, now Shelly will present to us on Pat's Peeps podcast who is in the history of 1975. Go ahead, shelly Memorial.
Speaker 3:Auditorium and you know, judas Priest and UFO, my first sponsor, that's all I want to say, and Patrick was there, I was a junior I was. I cannot freaking believe that.
Speaker 2:Yes, it was Judas Priest and UFO. What's that?
Speaker 4:I was a sophomore, he was a junior. So, you guys went. Where were you?
Speaker 2:In 1974?
Speaker 4:1975.
Speaker 3:I saw.
Speaker 4:Judas Priest and Bad Company At Memorial.
Speaker 3:No at the Civic the brand new Civic Auditorium, the Civic Center in 1975.
Speaker 2:Judas Priest with Bad Company. Yes, what an odd combination. That's odd. I mean both great rock bands with an odd combination.
Speaker 4:That was like one of the first concerts they had at the new Civic Center and that was in 1975.
Speaker 3:Yes, so I was in Sacramento. We had to get a ride because we didn't have our driver's license.
Speaker 5:So on one of your shows you brought up and I don't know if it was Darlene with a Y or who talked, but somebody talked about going to Hughes Stadium in 76, something like that. It was the same concert I was in. It was Linda Ronstadt.
Speaker 3:Oh, yes, that would have been a good one, it was Jackson.
Speaker 2:Brown Is that the no Nukes. That was Denise that called me. Oh, denise, denise, I remember all my calls, isn't that weird?
Speaker 4:yeah, it was there too. You only have facial recognition.
Speaker 2:Yeah, man it was Denise that called with that one.
Speaker 5:I remember that concert and they were dirt cheap. Remember we were talking about how?
Speaker 3:cheap they always were because they always just sold. Hey, can I get a ticket or you could go to the cheap. Remember we were talking about how cheap they always were because they always just sold hey, can I get a ticket?
Speaker 2:or you could go to the ticket box or whatever you could go tower records, hello yeah, they sold the tickets and it's like you didn't have to go through freaking remember you get them, you get bass tickets and have little bass on there, yeah, and it was $2 extra. I was like oh, Well, we used to have to camp out overnight in front of Tower.
Speaker 4:Records to get the best tickets With our sleeping bags.
Speaker 3:That's right Not me, you just had to have a sleeping bag.
Speaker 2:So did you ever camp out for a concert.
Speaker 4:I did for Led Zeppelin tickets.
Speaker 2:You did.
Speaker 4:I bought 20. Don't tell anybody, because you know I'm a fugitive, that's true.
Speaker 2:Thank you, Lana.
Speaker 4:They were $12.50 and I sold them for $20. Did you really?
Speaker 1:I made money.
Speaker 4:True confessions right here on Pat's Peep Podcast she was an entrepreneur back then you just literally told everybody Some people want them to probably listen to this.
Speaker 3:I always watch him Wait what. So I know who he is. I remember her.
Speaker 2:So which Led Zeppelin was this at Oakland Coliseum?
Speaker 4:Yes, in 1977 they had two shows and they sold out like immediately, and I had bought ten tickets for Saturday. Oh my God, and it sold out. Why did you ditch me Just?
Speaker 2:kidding.
Speaker 4:I thought I sold you one for 20.
Speaker 2:And who were the opening bands?
Speaker 4:Rick Derren, that's right.
Speaker 2:Really. And who got booed off the stage that night? The other guy, no, oh what. They were literally just mentioned.
Speaker 4:Well, they were pissed at Led Zeppelin on Sunday.
Speaker 2:But because it was two days. Someone just mentioned them, someone.
Speaker 4:Me Judas Priest, judas Priest, no way.
Speaker 2:And no one knew who they were. It was right before Sad Wings of Destiny album and they got booed off the stage, just like Prince got booed off the stage with George Thorogood and the Stones and Jay Giles in 1981.
Speaker 4:Oh, just like Prince got booed off the stage with George.
Speaker 2:Thorogood and the Stones and Jay Giles in 1981.
Speaker 4:Oh, jay Giles. No one knew who Prince was. Right, I love Jay Giles, me too. I saw him at the Memorial Auditorium, remember they just shook down the house.
Speaker 2:Oh my God, yeah, Ain't nothing but a party. Jay Giles, oh yeah.
Speaker 3:Jay Giles fan. My brother loved them and anything my brother loved, I go, oh my god, jake guile, steve miller van yeah I would shake your trees. You can shake your and I always remember that you can. And I still remember walking up to the house and my brother would sing that I'm going shake your and then we go in the front door and hi mom yeah, steve miller band, and it's interesting how you remember what songs where you were exactly but. I cannot remember my room number that's you know same I mean it's interesting how you remember and visualize where.
Speaker 5:Short-term memory loss is an issue. Yes, well, thanks.
Speaker 4:I've separated for a little while. I don't recall.
Speaker 1:And then your first concert. I think it's funny how many of us have been to the same different concerts as Pat.
Speaker 3:No, I know.
Speaker 1:We have been to the same concerts. We've all been to the same concerts as you, With me and you it was Bowie at Cal Expo. Amphitheater and one of the opening acts was a group called the Genuine Diamels who did an acapella version of the Underdog song Well, yeah, that's a fun fact from Ryan.
Speaker 3:Another fun fact from Ryan.
Speaker 2:Here's another little fun, fact. Yes, dan you and I. Pink Floyd Sacramento.
Speaker 3:April 20th 1988.
Speaker 2:Hughes Stadium. Here's a fun fact on oh God, you just the Underdog. Well, David Bowie.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So that concert, that tour, frank Zappa I'm a huge Zappa fan. His guitar player was Adrian Ballou. So, frank Zappa, when he hires his band members, he hires only the best and they are his employees, so he pays them. He pays them year-round. No one else does that. Frank pays you year-round and you are at my disposal Anytime I want you. These are my selected people. And so Frank ends his tour.
Speaker 2:David Bowie is going to start the tour that we saw, and Bowie calls Adrian Ballou and says hey, I would like for you to be my guitar player on this tour. And Adrian Ballou says well, you're going to have to talk to Frank because Frank's got me under contract. So Bowie goes and he goes, okay, and he goes. Well, frank's going to be at a big dinner tonight. He's going to be having dinner at this restaurant. So Bowie says okay, I'm going to pick you up in a limo, picks up Adrian Ballou and they go to this restaurant where Frank's having dinner. And this is why I love Frank. And this is only going to be the second time on my podcast that I curse. I don't care, I'm drinking wine.
Speaker 2:Right, so they're sitting in the restaurant and Frank is eating dinner and he's like hey, Frank, but Bowie's telling Frank, you know, of course we all know the song Major, Tom right, oh, Major.
Speaker 3:Tom by Bowie. I love it. Ground control.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and so he's like. So Bowie's sitting at the table with Frank and he's asking Frank, you know, hey, you know we'd love to have Adrian, and Zappa will not look up at him. He keeps eating his food and he goes fuck you, sergeant Tom. I was like what, listen, frank.
Speaker 5:Frank, we just want to you know.
Speaker 2:It's major. He's eating, I know, but that's funny. So, frank, and he throws that out there. Yeah, like you know, if we could just do, you know, if we're thinking. You know, fuck you, sergeant Tom, he would never talk to him, never would look at him. And they get back in the limo and Bowie looks at him and goes well, I think that went rather well, perfect, yes. And the next day Zappa goes you got it, no problem, Go play with Bowie.
Speaker 4:I respect that. Was that the glass spider tour?
Speaker 2:Yes, it was.
Speaker 3:Now you get extra points for that.
Speaker 2:Right If.
Speaker 1:Pat had not already broken a glass, he would have high-fived you right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, on that note, I look at his face and he's like I want to so high five her right now, all high fives.
Speaker 1:I'm not yet a broken glass.
Speaker 3:You're the cause of all this, but I'm holding my glass. You can air it.
Speaker 5:You can air it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, air high fives I wish I would have now, so let's okay.
Speaker 1:So, since we're in Italy, we should probably talk about Italy it is always fun to talk about concerts, though, but you know what.
Speaker 2:So you know, Steve. It's nice to meet you, steve's on the first time. Jan has been on the trip with us before. Ryan and Dan both have Shelly. This is her first time.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm really scared.
Speaker 2:Are you scared? Just kidding. So what do you? Have you been to Italy before, steve? No, it's the first time, really. So what are your thoughts so far?
Speaker 5:Well, I love this location and I'm looking forward to seeing more, but the weather reminds me of where our kids live in Dana Point, norwich County. It's the same and, interestingly enough, I thought he was the general manager, but he's the owner of the hotel. This morning I went up to him and I asked him. I said are you the GM? And he said no, I am the owner. And I said you are doing such a great job. This is a wonderful property. We are so enjoying our time here and blah, blah, blah. He was so grateful His wife walks over. We started another conversation about. They've been to California a couple times and it was Orange County and they love Newport Beach and all that area down there because the weather reminds them of this.
Speaker 5:So yeah, it was wonderful, but no, and the other thing, I don't think there's bad food here. I think it's impossible to find bad food here, I kid you not. That's the way it, you not.
Speaker 1:You're right, it's been good speaking of wine.
Speaker 4:Janik is your by the door yeah. I'll just say this I'm a great tipper.
Speaker 5:Ask my wife I tip. I'll just say this I'm just very thankful to be here. I am. It's really nice to get to know you. My wife and I just have so enjoyed meeting you.
Speaker 2:Grazie, grazie, Well it's great to meet you too, and you know, I met Steve and I met his wife. And he says to me hey, no, I'm good right now. And he says to me hey, no, I'm good right now.
Speaker 4:Thank you though, Jenna.
Speaker 5:But, I mean Atlanta, sorry.
Speaker 3:We're doing a podcast.
Speaker 4:Right, oh yeah, Vino, vino.
Speaker 2:And Steve says hey, I got something for you, and I'm like what he says yeah, I have a gift for you. I thought he was kind of kidding, but as it turns out, he was not kidding and Steve was kind enough to. Well, first of all, steve called my show maybe I'm guessing, I'm going to guess three weeks to a month ago, maybe, and he's talking. He's asking me about cigars, I'm sorry. What's your wife's name? Again, desley.
Speaker 4:What's that, desley? Okay, I met Desley.
Speaker 2:Desley and you said well, I'm looking for, I'm going to get these cigars, I'm going to get this special cigar. And then I had to tell you, and then I guess Desley told you that I had given it up for Lent and that I had in some implants and so I couldn't smoke cigars on this trip. So which is kind of she's very disappointed about let me tell you.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, I do look forward to it. But you know, but Steve, I couldn't believe it brings this gift. It's a 1945 Sacramento Solons cap and this is in the exact replica. It's a wool cap. It is just absolutely beautiful. It was a great surprise. But the cool thing about it, he gives me this hat. He tries a fitted hat. I try it on and it fit perfectly. And Then Ryan is standing here and I'm like this man gave me a so on set. I can't believe. Steve gives me the songs hat and Ryan says you know, was that? Because you know your dad played for the Solons. And right about that time Steve's, coming out of the hotel down where we were standing, had no idea my dad even played for the Solons. And you're like what.
Speaker 2:Did you say your dad played for the Solons? I thought that's why you bought that cab. I thought it was very nice.
Speaker 5:I brought it because I know you love baseball, yeah, and I thought it would be something nice, but no, it's a special blessing to me finding this out. In fact, I told my kids at a Texas sporting about how it fit you, and then lo and behold, and then I said on top of all of that, pat's dad played for the Solons.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And it was like, oh my goodness, that's a meant to be situation.
Speaker 5:God is good, it's wonderful.
Speaker 1:I'm amazed they're making the replica hat Ebbets.
Speaker 5:Field Flannels. Can you pitch that? Ebbets, Field Flannels, You've got to go to that website. They do wool replica jerseys. They've got and I'm going to look for the other two teams because they've got all of these leagues, the old leagues, the Negro leagues, all the old leagues that you know, not everything that existed, but almost everything that existed. It's amazing, it's an amazing website and the stuff's very high quality.
Speaker 5:You know, and, like I said, the hats are not all of them are wool, but most of them are wool because that's what they made out of. Yeah, yeah. So that's a blessing Pat.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean that my heart's full about that. I'm glad I remembered that. I'm glad I remembered that. Yeah, I thought.
Speaker 4:I had a story about Steve, but you beat me. Steve bought me a beer last night.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's right. Yeah, that was fun. My beer must have gotten lost in the mail.
Speaker 5:And we promised the bartender that we would return the glasses and we did. And we did because we took them next door.
Speaker 4:Yep, we've all had wine spills this trip.
Speaker 2:Oh, have we Just you and Pat.
Speaker 4:We're only early in the trip. I know we're two days in Two days.
Speaker 1:In Well, this is day two oh.
Speaker 5:God Well, Ryan, I owe you a beer.
Speaker 1:No, I'm just kidding you, I'm fine I will deliver.
Speaker 5:Grazie, boy.
Speaker 1:I will deliver.
Speaker 2:Well, I threw wine on myself tonight and then last night it was a fork from this pasta that ended up all over my white shirt. I just said this is two days in. I have not had good luck. I have food stains on everything. We're going to have to find a laundry mat. I think we've all had a little.
Speaker 4:I don't want to say bad luck, a little spillage within the first days of our trip.
Speaker 1:Speak for yourself. You have to break into this Italian adventure. I have been on this side of the Atlantic for 10 days and I have not spilled a thing.
Speaker 4:Knock on wood and then you got next to us.
Speaker 5:I think the only thing that you should do- is just, we should just run around in garbage bags. And then we could just dump all kinds of stuff on our stuff. I think, the term you're looking for is protective clothing.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I brought a no blast suits no blast suits. I brought a rain poncho. There you go, you're ready.
Speaker 2:Where'd Shelly go?
Speaker 1:We lost Shelly, but that's all right.
Speaker 4:Did she lose Shelly again, we'll move on. She'll be back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so where do we start?
Speaker 4:With what.
Speaker 1:We've talked about this hotel and this beautiful property and I think we should point out like all of us have these balconies. We're right on the water. The harbor is literally across a tiny, narrow little two-lane street and this harbor. We look out on the water. You can see the points way down.
Speaker 4:Cinque Terre, where it starts.
Speaker 1:Cinque Terre, where we went today. I'll get to that. But this water, the Sea of Ligeti, if you take it out, it connects right to the Mediterranean.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it's part of it.
Speaker 1:You can take a boat. That's how the cruise ships get in here.
Speaker 4:The Tyranian Sea, which is all still part of the Mediterranean, and we have the most beautiful sunrises Very early in the morning, so get up, it's about 6.30.
Speaker 2:Don't stay up all night. It was beautiful this morning I woke up like a shot at 6.30.
Speaker 1:I looked down and I said oh the sunrise. And I got right out of bed because I'm not much of a morning person. Usually 630 this morning I was bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to come out here and watch that sunrise. And it was great. You got a picture of it, I got some good pictures of it too. Were you up that early yeah.
Speaker 4:Okay, that's good.
Speaker 1:It means you're adjusting.
Speaker 4:That's the means you're adjusting. You're already adjusted. That's the other thing Flying over here.
Speaker 1:If you've never flown overseas the adjustment process, Because we're nine hours ahead here. And before the trip I called into your show and I couldn't help but laugh Because I was thinking I'll have been over here close to ten days and so I'll be well-adjusted to European time. And I have to remind myself that Pat and Dan and Jana and Steve and everybody coming off the plane has just spent 16 hours traveling.
Speaker 2:They've been up all night, no sleep.
Speaker 1:Nobody can sleep on a plane. I have to make sure I stay low-key so that I'm not in everybody's face first thing in the morning when they're all exhausted. I have to keep myself in check.
Speaker 2:How'd you do?
Speaker 5:Not great. The worst thing about nine hours ahead is my buddies are texting me at 2.30 in the morning. The phone's ding, ding ding.
Speaker 1:You got to silence it, brother. Oh no, no, you got to silence it. Don't look at it. The morning the phone's ding, ding, ding. You gotta silence it brother. No, no, gotta silence it.
Speaker 4:Don't look at it till morning.
Speaker 5:That's the funny thing.
Speaker 2:So that's kind of what we're doing. This is just kind of wrapping up a day here, and we're just sitting around enjoying each other's company.
Speaker 1:Well, you know, we didn't really talk about Cinque Terre.
Speaker 2:Well, we haven't Cinque Terre.
Speaker 1:Well, we haven't Cinque.
Speaker 2:Terre yeah.
Speaker 1:So it's a UNESCO site. It's these five little cities along the shore and they have a well, one of the things they have which I think is interesting but would never do. It's like a hiking path that you can go through all five of them. It takes about three and a half hours, but you basically have to climb to the top of a small mountain at some point, like traversing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, to get across, and then some switchbacks and things, and then they've got the train that goes down that way, which is nice, but the boat is actually the quickest way to get from one end to the other. It's 10-15 minutes tops and you go, but it's like typical Italian hillside cities too. It's all up and down, yeah, but they build them on these hillsides and they build these buildings up and it's just so beautiful and amazing to look at and the food is good. We talked about eating at the restaurant. It was in an old defensive tower. Shelly's not here to talk about it.
Speaker 4:She's beyond the switch. Where did she go.
Speaker 1:She hears Shelly got the fish with the head on it and then made the head talk.
Speaker 2:Oh, I have a great video of that.
Speaker 1:Do you have the?
Speaker 5:video of the fish. Oh, I didn't know you took video of the fish. That's great Hi.
Speaker 3:I just got my teeth cleaned and you're going to eat me.
Speaker 1:I just had braces on my teeth and now you cooked me. Oh yeah, the fish. Thing.
Speaker 5:The fish. Thing.
Speaker 3:That little fish had teeth.
Speaker 5:That's the way they did it.
Speaker 2:So, ryan, did you? You found some music today right Somewhere, or was it yesterday in the plaza. Well, yeah, this was now remember.
Speaker 1:I have also been in Italy a couple of days before you all got here, and I went to the town of Bologna long story short, because my great-grandfather emigrated from there more than 100 years ago and I've never been. My father never made it before he died. So I wanted to check it out. And in the piazza there, the big plaza in the middle of Bologna there's a woman, a young woman, a very lovely, attractive young woman singing opera, and she could be signed by any of a dozen opera companies in the United States. And instead she's out busking for change singing opera in the middle of the piazza.
Speaker 3:Find me, a boy who can't escape Nothing to think In the night.
Speaker 2:And of, course only in Italy, only in Italy Can you find beautiful.
Speaker 1:Only in Italy can you find that beautiful kind of opera there, and so I had to get a little shot of it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, thanks to Ryan and Lana. Sorry, dana, dana.
Speaker 4:Dana.
Speaker 2:Federal agents. We don't know who Jana is.
Speaker 5:Yes, steve, and.
Speaker 2:Danny Boy and Shelly wherever she went. Oh, there she is.
Speaker 5:The lovely.
Speaker 2:Shelly has returned. Thank you, shelly, very nice. Dan, don't ever strike that pose.
Speaker 1:I probably won't do that tonight, Dan don't ever strike that pose. I probably won't do that tonight. Dan, don't be striking that in your hotel room.
Speaker 2:Pat's Peeps 237. Thank you, we'll see you tomorrow.
Speaker 4:Long enough, Dave.
Speaker 3:That's my favorite number.
Speaker 1:And of course, only in a week can you find beautiful music in the streets, just about anywhere you go.
