Welcome to the Fats Peeps podcast. What are we at 287. Hi there. What are we at 287. Hi there. How are you? It's a Monday, ready for another week. It's June 23rd. As I look out my studio window into the beautiful foothills of Northern California, lots of sunshine and the temperatures are starting to warm up a little bit, but not too bad. We're not even heck here we are towards the end of June. We won't even have 100 degrees until this Sunday, but it is beautiful out and it's good to have you back listening to my podcast. Thank you so much. I do hope you had a great weekend. It was a productive, interesting weekend that I will share with you here on Pat's Peeps 287. And as we get started today, I had a couple of things I wanted to get to. But this is probably the first time I've had kind of breaking news on my podcast, so I hope this is cool to do. I don't know. This happened just as I was firing up the podcast. So without further ado, let's go to Fox News, brett.
Speaker 2:Baier. Vice President JD Vance. Mr Vice President, thanks for coming. Absolutely Just seconds ago, the president went to True Social and typed this it has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire. Complete and total ceasefire is what he typed. Yep. What does that mean? How did it come about? What's the development?
Speaker 3:Yeah Well, we were actually working on that just as I left the White House to come over here, so that's good news that the president was able to get that across the finish line.
Speaker 3:I think what it means, brett, is quite simple.
Speaker 3:First of all, the president, without knock on wood, having a single American casualty obliterated the Iranian nuclear program. We are now in a place where we weren't a week ago. A week ago, iran was very close to having a nuclear weapon. Now Iran is incapable of building a nuclear weapon with the equipment they have because we destroyed it. So that's a very, very big thing.
Speaker 3:Now, what that means, I think, is we have to talk to Iran and, of course, to Israel, about what the future holds, because, while we have obliterated the Iranian nuclear program, our hope and our expectation is that they're not going to try to rebuild that program, and I think that's what the president is really trying to figure out here is to build a long-term settlement here, to where we can have peace in the region, where our regional allies and, of course, the american people most importantly can be secured, but where we can ensure that the destruction of the iranian nuclear program that has already happened is not something they try to rebuild I want to get to the obliterated part in just a minute, but I just want to read this fully so I get the context here.
Speaker 2:Congratulations to everyone. It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire in approximately six hours from now. When Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in-progress final missions for 12 hours, at which point the ceasefire for 12 hours, at which point the war will be considered ended Officially, iran will start the ceasefire and upon ended Officially, iran will start the ceasefire. And upon the 12th hour, israel will start the ceasefire. And upon the 24th hour, an official end to the 12-day war will be saluted by the world. During each ceasefire, the other side will remain peaceful and respectful, on the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will.
Speaker 2:I would like to congratulate both countries, israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage and intelligence to end what should be called the 12-day war. This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn't and never will. God bless Israel, god bless Iran, god bless Iran, god bless the Middle East, god bless the United States of America and God bless the world. He seems confident that this is all coming together.
Speaker 2:That's right, and when you left the White House, were you thinking this was all gelling here?
Speaker 3:When I left the White House, I thought that we might be able to get it across the finish line before this broadcast, and it looks like the president has been able to do that. I mean, look, he's been working the phones constantly, frankly before the 12 day war started, but certainly over the past 12 days the president's been extremely clear about America's national objective here. It is to create a world where Iran cannot build a nuclear weapon. We, of course, destroyed the nuclear program that they had, and the president told the entire team we're going to work to make sure that they don't try to rebuild that nuclear capability in the future. And it's, look, this is a great thing For Israel. Think about this. They've accomplished an important military objective. They've helped us destroy the Iranian nuclear program. They've also destroyed the conventional missile capability of Iran that threatened the country of Israel.
Speaker 3:For the Iranians, I think this is a new opportunity to actually pursue the path of peace. As I said yesterday, what the Iranians have showed through their support of terror networks, through their now failed effort to build a nuclear weapon, is that they're just not very good at war. And I think the president really hit the reset button and said look, let's actually produce long-term peace for the region. That's always been his goal. I actually think when we look back we will say the 12-day war was an important reset moment for the entire region.
Speaker 1:Wow, I don't want to play too much.
Speaker 1:I don't know what I'm allowed to play and I'm certainly not trying to violate any rights. I have no rights to this. But you know, as I'm starting the podcast, that's pretty big news. That's Vice President JD Vance with Brett Baer on Fox News and they're obviously discussing a ceasefire the special report so a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which is amazing. I mean you never know. I mean, where this is going to go and if there are any updates, obviously you'll hear about them on all the news reports. So I will leave it right there.
Speaker 1:But you know, it didn't heck. I didn't want to come on here and start talking about I mean we could have started talking about here on 287 about world war iii, tension stoking spy has been arrested, terror attacks have been plotted, and certainly I was ready to talk about Putin sticking his nose in this thing too. And then you have the former Russian president saying the countries are lining up to give Iran their nukes. Unbelievable. Dmitry Medvedev remember him? He was president from 2008 to 2012, and now a top aide to Putin Didn't really specify what countries he was referring to in this Telegram post yesterday, but in the post he downplayed the damage dealt to Iran's vital nuclear sites. Anyhow, I'm not going to rehash all of this because this is something that's on every news channel and that's not really the necessarily the purpose of my podcast, you know. But I wanted to bring that news to you and to myself as it was breaking there. There was this other story too. This was in um, what I don't know daily express, whatever. That is just a story floating around. Donald trump orders iran to be wiped from the face of the earth if they try to kill him. So these stories were things I was prepared to talk about. But that ceasefire, we'll see where that goes. 12-day war, that's interesting. Let's pray no one else gets hurt and they can put an end to this and have a peaceful settlement to it. That's, I think, what everyone wants. So again, I hope you had a nice weekend. I did.
Speaker 1:Saturday was extremely busy. I did one thing that I had never done before and that was to judge a. I guess it's a beauty pageant. Is it a pageant? It's a pageant, it's I? Yeah, I guess I want to say it's a pageant, but I had never done that before and I was invited to do that. It's very wholesome, it's wholesome. You know this was a very wholesome thing and I really, you know, when I was asked if I would take part in this thing it's here in my community and I thought, yeah, you know, this isn't one of those weird pageants where everyone makes fun of Honey, boo, boo, child or whatever that was. You know. No, this is man, this is really good, all-american stuff and in ages, I guess, from age range from right about eight years old to 50 years old. So there's different levels and things here.
Speaker 1:And I was part of this panel for panel judge panel, and you know I had never done it. So it was kind of like going and waking up on my Saturday morning and doing five hours of homework. That's kind of what it reminded me of, but for a good cause, and I got to meet a lot of good people. But it wasn't that easy. Honestly, I don't know. I think of beauty pageants I'm not sure what I think of really but I want to say thank you to Tammy for inviting me. Thank you to Tammy and Rachel and everyone there in Granite Bay, everyone involved in this, for inviting me. And you know you score on a variety of things, whether it's photographs, the outfit, their appearance, their answers, the way they interact with you, just their personality. It's a whole thing where you have to judge them on all these things and part of me was thinking I can't believe I'm judging people like this. Nothing wrong with it. They want to be a part of it. That's why they're doing it.
Speaker 1:You know little girls want to represent their community and wear the crown and you know little girls love that stuff and some of the older girls do, apparently, and you know, as I'm going through this, and you know you formulate questions, you have their information in front of you and you formulate questions based off have their information in front of you and you formulate questions based off of their. I guess I don't want to call it a bio, but they fill out these forms, they tell you about themselves and then you, on the fly, you formulate questions and there's 37 contestants all in all, and so that was interesting. But as I'm doing this, there's so many things going through my mind and I started to notice things like I don't know, maybe it's my imagination. Sometimes, when I was, especially with some of the older, I guess, contestants, I felt like maybe there was a story behind all of this. And not all of the stories good stories. And, quite frankly, some of the contestants shared their not-so-good stories with us along with their good stories, whether it's overcoming illness of some kind. I don't want to divulge too much, I want to keep that private, but you know, overcoming illnesses or overcoming breakups or overcoming whatever it might be. And in certain contestants, certain ladies, I could sense maybe a smile, but a big story somewhere hidden behind that smile, and I'm the kind of guy that I have a lot of sympathy. Is it sympathy or empathy? Perhaps I guess more sympathy if I'm looking at it correctly. But for women who you know, I wanted to get up and hug. Some of them like, oh, it's going to be okay, but maybe it's my imagination, I don't know. Maybe they were, maybe I'm just reading too much into that, but they were delightful. But I couldn't help but to think of that with certain ones. There were others, particularly well, only the younger, younger ones, the very youngest, maybe eight to 10 years old, 11, 12, where you could tell that maybe they were coached by their mom, maybe, or someone where they came in with a certain thing that they said and a little pose and some kind of a thing and it seemed like maybe they were coached. I'll just leave it at that. But all in all it was an excellent experience. I don't know that I would do it again, but I learned a lot from doing it and I met some very good people.
Speaker 1:And the second part of this takes place this next week. Unfortunately, I am unavailable for that part as I host my show. By the way, my name is Pat Walsh. I host the Pat Walsh Show on KFPK 93.1 FM in in sacramento, 15 30 am and 7 to 10 pm, and so I have a show at that time of the evening when they're going to be doing the pageant on the second part. So I can only do this part. But thank you to everyone involved.
Speaker 1:So the other thing I had to do, I had to leave right from there. I had to go to a family gathering I'm not going to say reunion, but gathering. Thank you to my cousin Linda. My cousin Richard passed away. Well, I guess it's been a month and a half, two months now, something like that. My brother Steve, my sister-in-law Mary.
Speaker 1:You know my cousins these are all my second cousins, mike and Polly, brenda. You know, richard, a lot of my cousins were there. So wonderful to see them. You know this side of the family has always been so close. It's one thing I love and I've talked about it before the Walshes and the Tracys, my dad's side of the family. We've always been very, very close as a family. We always gather there, richard and Linda's, and I could tell you that my cousin Richard was very much missed. I know you don't know him, but suffice it to say it's very refreshing to me to know that families still get together as family, and we did that and we do that. There's something different about that than just gathering with friends. I love that too, but there's something different when it's family. So wonderful to see everyone there and then. So this was a very busy day.
Speaker 1:On Saturday I went from the family gathering for a few hours over to our Pats Peeps dinner in Newcastle. What we did is we? This was the Pats Peeps group, that a good portion probably I don't know, half of the group, maybe that went to Italy together here in April and it was wonderful. We went to an Italian restaurant there. I can never get them right. Is it Il Fornaio or is it? I think it's Il Fornaio. I hope I got that right. I always get down on La Fornata mixed up. Well I. I better stop before before everyone in my group starts laughing at me which they will. My gosh, I can't believe it. Such a good group of people and here's the thing a lot of us are going to be. A lot of the group is going to be going to Sicily with us this, uh, this October, into November. Let me see if I want to give the right name to this restaurant. Let me see where it is, I can't believe it. La Freneta, yeah, la Freneta, that's where it was in.
Speaker 1:Newcastle, georgia, ryan and geez. There's so many people I shouldn't go down the list because I'll miss people by going down. Suffice it to say. All these really, really good people were there last night and many of them are going to go to Sicily with us. If you're listening to my podcast right now, if you'd like to join our Pats Peeps group for Sicily, we are going October 25th through November the 5th. I mean it is going to be an incredibly beautiful trip. Go to conservativetourscom and look for the Pat Walsh trip to Sicily this fall Conservativetourscom and you'll find that. So thank you, thank you to Georgia for some great feedback on the podcast.
Speaker 1:A lot of people do seem to be enjoying a lot of the interviews we did last week, so maybe I'll have more interviews. I don't want you guys to get sick of me. You know it's nice to have interviews. Plus, I do enjoy the interviews, I do enjoy listening to my guests that I have on and I'm planning a lot more guests. So that's going to be something to look forward to. So if you do like our guests and you can tell me and I will bring more on Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. This is a good one.
Speaker 1:I don't know how I transitioned to this, trying to find something to bridge the gap here. Oh golly, sometimes we are so very offended, so offended. Let me see if I have anything to bridge the gap here. Oh God, here is this. I don't know this woman and she is with her woman, I guess, and I guess they're at the Albertsons. Anyone heard this. She was very offended, apparently that well that a guy let her rip in the Albertsons right next to her. You know, I guess the guy had to, you know, float an air biscuit. Well, this lady didn't take too kindly to that.
Speaker 4:We were walking down an aisle and there were like two guys that walked up next to us. You know, peyton like walked away, my wife walked away for just a second Uh-huh, and they were like snickering to themselves or something and like. I didn't really think much of it.
Speaker 1:Oh God, this is going to be bad. This must be awful.
Speaker 4:I'm just looking at the candy aisle trying to decide what candy I want oh yeah, right. And he walks by and gets like inches from me and just rips one like f this far from me. That's disgusting to say. I can't even believe I'm having to say this, but he did I can't believe it either and about that time peyton walked up like she's crying listen, listen to her sob witness what happened, but like seconds later and I'm like upset and I follow after him. I was like is there a reason?
Speaker 4:you were just so disrespectful to me and he, uh never felt so dehumanized you must be kidding me Never felt so dehumanized.
Speaker 1:You must be kidding me. He saw you, sought you out and walked up to you so he could just let her rip to dehumanize you.
Speaker 4:She is worthy of dehumanization. Not only did he fart on her when she confronted him.
Speaker 1:Right confronted him. Right Guy accidentally rips one in the Albertsons.
Speaker 4:And then she confronts him.
Speaker 1:He said just walk away, uh-huh oh.
Speaker 4:This is Albertsons, by the way, right, and go to the customer service to be Albertsons, by the way, right, and go to the customer service to be like, hey, this just happened, I was just disrespected in your store.
Speaker 1:Oh, you mean when you confronted the guy who accidentally farted. Oh, you mean when you were disrespected, when you confronted this guy after he accidentally farted when you were picking your candy out. Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 4:Called names, like several several times.
Speaker 1:Right.
Speaker 4:And the security guard went and talked to him, came back and they all just kind of looked at us and was like well, can't y'all just leave? Is this a standard for society?
Speaker 1:That's a very good question You've got to ask yourself that Is this a standard for society? That's a very good question. You've got to ask yourself that Is this a standard for society? Now, look, none of us want to be caught. You know, floating the old air biscuit or nothing. None of us want to be caught doing that. But you know, look, life happens, things happen. You don't mean for it. You're walking through the Albertsons. It's not like you are being a mean guy or a mean person. Sometimes you're walking by the Rue de Vegas and things just occur that you didn't mean to, and things just occur that you didn't mean to.
Speaker 4:And golly, I'm crying and about that time Peyton walked up like didn't witness what happened but like seconds later and I'm like upset and I follow after. Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh Like farts like this far from me. That's disgusting to say. I can't even believe I'm having to say this, but he did.
Speaker 1:Sure, it is disgusting to say that and about that time.
Speaker 4:Peyton walked up like, didn't witness what happened, but like seconds later and I'm like upset and I follow after him, I was like is there a reason? You were just so disrespectful to me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because I picked you out of the crowd. You looked like a person who I wanted to walk over and fart next to. I thought let me go disrespect you. So, wow, that is awful that someone could do that purposely to her. It's unbelievable. What is what the heck was that? What the heck was that? Anyhow, let me go ahead and go to my record real quick. I'm going to see if I can tie these two in. I don't know. I think I can. So I have my record I picked off my shelf. I was dreading the day that I would pick this one of these records out.
Speaker 1:Not that I dislike, I mean. I don't mean to say I dislike, it's just I'll be honest with you. All the 45s I have. Two people put out more freaking 45s than any human beings of all time, and you would never guess who they are. I tell you there has to be I don't know how many songs. Ann Murray thought that she was going to get on the top 40 or top 100. Wow, ann Murray, the Canadian, released a lot of records, but it might be a tie between her and this artist which is a her. I cannot believe how many 45s this artist put out. This one I hold in my hand is on Capitol Records Mono on one side, oh, mono on both sides. Not for sale, white label, no record stickers. Well, there is one little like a little Sharpie around the thing. We're actually crossed out. Not for sale and it, yeah, anyhow.
Speaker 1:So this song written by Kenny Asher and Paul Williams we just talked about Paul Williams on my radio show the other night about great composers recorded by this artist for her 1974 album, love Song for Jeffrey Song was written by Paul Williams teaming up with Asher, member of his band, and it began as a gag song. Williams and Asher had a discussion about their favorite songwriters, which led to the spontaneous composition of the subject, whose tune Asher then realized had real hit potential. The song is sentimental in its lyrics, discussing all the times we cried. It wasn't my favorite, I'm just being honest with you growing up because I was a boy and it was not right in my wheelhouse but it was popular. She had a bunch of hits, but at the times we cried. When one of us is gone and one of us has to carry on Songs from 1974. Let's see Second single from Love Song from Jeffrey Went to number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, september 74.
Speaker 1:Became the fourth of this artist's six consecutive adult contemporary number one. Hits Song did equally as well in Canada. Hits Song did equally as well in Canada. It's a song called you and Me Against the World by Helen Reddy. Helen whoops, skip, let me set that down right. Here we go, here we go. That's like the lady in the store that got farted on Her and her wife got farted on.
Speaker 4:It should be their theme song here and walk away. You can count on me to stay.
Speaker 1:Remember when the circus came to town and you were frightened by the clown.
Speaker 4:Oh boy I still feel so bad for her. We were walking down an aisle and there were like two guys that walked up next to us. You know, peyton like walked away, my wife walked away for just a second and they were like like snickering to their like, to themselves or something, and uh, like I didn't really think much of it, so I'm just looking at the candy I'll try to decide what candy I want and he walks by and gets like inches from me and just rips one like this far from me. That's disgusting to say. I can't even believe I'm having to say this, but he did. And about that time Peyton walked up like didn't witness what happened, but like seconds later and I'm like upset and I follow after him and I was like is there a reason you were just so disrespectful to me and him. And I was like is there a reason you were just so disrespectful to me? And I never felt so dehumanized. Not only did he. When she confronted him he said I'm so immature.
Speaker 4:This is Albertsons, by the way, and go to the customer service to be like hey this just happened. I was just disrespected in your store and called names like several times, and the security guard went and talked to him, came back and they all just kind of looked at us and was like, well, can't y'all just leave? Is this a standard for society?
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's sad. Thank you for listening to Pat's Immature Peeps, number 287. See you on the radio.
Speaker 4:You and me against the world.
Speaker 1:I love you, Mommy.
